Download the Moto Casino app today. All right, Mojo in the Morning Show. Oh, you know what? I got a late night tonight, which is going to be kind of a tough one because we got an early morning tomorrow. What are you doing tonight? I am playing tonight in a Quarters tournament. It was Quarters for the uninitiated like myself. You don't know what Quarters is?

00:02:57 - 00:02:59 | Speaker 4:

Like a drinking game Quarters?

00:02:59 - 00:03:30 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, the drinking game Quarters. Quarters is a drinking game that came out way before Beer Pong. Okay. It was where you take a quarter, you know, the silver, you know. I know what a quarter is. You know what that is? You know what a quarter is. Would you like me to show you one? Come on. So you can see it. Come on, Scrooge. And you have a glass there in front of you, and you bounce the quarter off of the table, and if you bounce it into the drink, then you can choose your person that you're playing against to drink that drink, and they have to drink it.

00:03:31 - 00:03:32 | Speaker 4:

I was never good at this game.

00:03:32 - 00:03:41 | Speaker 5:

Were you not a quarters person? No. Were you good at any drinking games? Flippy Cup. Flippy Cup is yours. I like that. Really? What makes you better at Flippy Cup than at quarters?

00:03:41 - 00:03:46 | Speaker 3:

I don't know, but I'm pretty decent at Flip Cup. Really? I call it Flippy Cup.

00:03:46 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 5:

I was about to ask you, was that something that you guys did more in college?

00:03:52 - 00:04:04 | Speaker 4:

I'll be honest with you. I'm not a huge fan of drinking games, especially card drinking games. Because if I'm getting together with all of my friends, I just want to catch up and drink. I don't want to have to play a game.

00:04:04 - 00:04:06 | Speaker 5:

You want to be more casual with it.

00:04:06 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, when people are like, let's play a drinking game. I'm always like, oh.

00:04:09 - 00:04:24 | Speaker 5:

I'm going to have to add quarters to the list. But I love Flip Cup. Me too. There are, and I'd love to know from our listeners, what's your favorite drinking game? But also, if there's anybody out there that is a quarters, I don't know, semi-pro or pro.

00:04:25 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 4:

Is there a strategy?

00:04:26 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

You better call Luke. Like, I will tell you this. Like, we have, so Chelsea and I have some friends that I would turn to when it comes to expertise on things. Like, for instance, in the nature of golf, I always end up going to Gabara. Steve Gabara is usually my guy for golf. Like he gives me like tips and pointers and stuff like that. When it comes to pickleball, Bill Brundage is the guy. The guy is like a professional, uh, you know, uh, uh, pickleball guy. Uh, when it comes to playing with yourself, Kevin is my guy. Here you go. Here you go. Um,

00:04:59 - 00:05:00 | Unknown:

yeah.

00:05:00 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 2:

Zach is a close second on that one, too. No, but I'd love to know, like, what is, you know, as far as, you know, drinking games, what is the strategy to quarters? I haven't played quarters. Shannon, I've not played since I was probably, I don't know, maybe a night disc jockey? I don't know.

00:05:23 - 00:05:40 | Speaker 3:

I'm sending you a phone number. Because I just remembered who in my life is a quarters, I can't say connoisseur. You can call this person if you want. A quarters master, my very best guy friend in the whole entire world, Super Fat Mikey.

00:05:40 - 00:05:41 | Speaker 2:

Super Fat Mikey.

00:05:41 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 3:

And he said, if you need some tips, he will give you some tips to play and beat your opponents.

00:05:51 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 2:

We got to practice in the studio today, too. Oh, I just said. Is Mikey a 404?

00:05:55 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 3:

I just sent you, or I just sent Mikey his own number. Oh, oh. He goes, that's my number, you idiot. Is that what he said? I tried to copy paste for you.

00:06:07 - 00:06:11 | Speaker 2:

I know Mikey. Anyway. Mikey starts with 404, right? He's a 404.

00:06:11 - 00:06:13 | Speaker 3:

No, he's a 260 area code.

00:06:13 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 2:

And that's Atlanta, right?

00:06:14 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 3:

I don't know who you got.

00:06:16 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 2:

Then how come Mikey's number changed there for a second?

00:06:19 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 3:

Well, he probably did what I should have done a long time ago and changed his one number.

00:06:23 - 00:06:28 | Speaker 2:

Is there? Okay. All right. Hold on. I'm going to dial him up, and we're going to see what we got here.

00:06:29 - 00:06:33 | Speaker 3:

Wait, did I miss it? What's up for grabs here? What's the prize?

00:06:33 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 2:

We get some money on the line. We got some money and pride on the line. Yeah, it's kind of a fun little contest. The funny thing is my wife is playing too, but we're on different teams. So they won't allow you to have your significant others on teams.

00:06:51 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 3:

It's not like you can cheat.

00:06:52 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 2:

it's kind of like a wife swapping type team. Hi, Mikey. How are you, buddy? Good. How are you? Fantastic. Shannon gave us your number as the expert when it comes to the game of quarters. Are you good at that game?

00:07:11 - 00:07:14 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, I was good back in my day. 20 years ago or so. It's an old school

00:07:14 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 2:

game that is coming back. The kids are starting to play it again, believe it or not. I didn't think

00:07:19 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 1:

kids drink anymore. I know.

00:07:22 - 00:07:28 | Speaker 2:

they now it's all about uh edibles and things like that right vapors yeah so what are you

00:07:28 - 00:07:39 | Speaker 1:

are they shooting quarters into a shot glass and then and whoever team wins they shoot the quarter into the pitcher and whoever loses has to drink the pitcher of beer because that's how i

00:07:39 - 00:07:44 | Speaker 2:

play yeah you played with pitchers that you have to be good if you're playing i would die

00:07:44 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 1:

well it's quarters and then as a team you got to get in the pitcher by the way and the team the losing team finishes the pitcher.

00:07:52 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 2:

Hi, Jane. I'm feeling so awkward here right now. Mikey, who Shannon referred to as Super Fat Mikey, which I never liked that name. I thought that that was very harsh that Shannon would call you fat like that all the time.

00:08:05 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 1:

It was rude, really. It was. She ain't calling him fat. She's called him Super Fat.

00:08:09 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 2:

Mikey, you have a child now, or is that some kid that you kidnapped? Who is that in the background?

00:08:15 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 1:

No, I have two daughters. Can you say hi? Hi. One's five, and the other one turns four in August. Kids, did you? So I had them 14 and a half months apart. I would not recommend.

00:08:31 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 2:

Kids, did you know that your dad is an expert when it comes to things? Did you know that, guys?

00:08:36 - 00:08:39 | Speaker 1:

Hold on. Let me hold on. Say it one more time, Mojo.

00:08:39 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 2:

Hey. Hi. Hi, guys. How are you? Did you guys know that your dad is famous?

00:08:46 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. No, they don't. They have no idea. that I used to get arrested in the radio.

00:08:53 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 2:

Did your dad tell you stories all the time?

00:08:55 - 00:08:57 | Speaker 1:

He had no idea the dumb things I did, Mojo. They have no clue.

00:08:58 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 2:

By the way, this is surreal for me because I have known. How old were you, Mikey, when I first met you? Were you like 20 or something?

00:09:05 - 00:09:10 | Speaker 1:

I was probably 26 or so, yeah. It was a different time, that's for sure.

00:09:10 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 2:

Didn't you at one time sleep on Shannon's couch? Like, wasn't that like you called that your home for a little bit?

00:09:16 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 1:

Mojo, you name it, I probably did it at some point. But let's not get it twisted. Shannon is no saint.

00:09:24 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 3:

You are here to talk about strategies for winning quarters.

00:09:29 - 00:09:32 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, what's the strategy, Mikey, that I need to know?

00:09:33 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 1:

You got to hold it in a certain direction, almost flat per se, and drop it off the counter. And then you have to get enough height to get it at the shot glass.

00:09:43 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 2:

Is it heads up or tails up?

00:09:46 - 00:09:50 | Speaker 1:

It doesn't matter. I guess it's whatever is lucky enough.

00:09:50 - 00:09:57 | Speaker 2:

Okay. So there's no strategy as far as that's concerned. And then is it on an angle? Do you hit it on an angle or hit it straight at it?

00:09:58 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 1:

It's a little bit of – you have to have a little bit of an –

00:10:00 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 2:

angle okay and then you hit it flat as flat as you can you just got to get a little bounce on it

00:10:05 - 00:10:30 | Speaker 1:

okay but the real tough part all right i'm gonna test this out today bye guys this is unbelievable take some quarters mikey mikey kiss your kids before you go and i'll let you go i'll talk to you later that by the way that is surreal isn't it to know that he's a father What's up, Pam? How you doing?

00:10:32 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 2:

Good morning.

00:10:33 - 00:10:35 | Speaker 1:

Good morning. What's going on?

00:10:36 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 2:

First time caller. Yay! It took quarters to get you to call us. I got to tell you guys, yes, because back in the 80s, we used to cruise around on the back road. There'd be four or five of us girls. We'd take a piece of our dad's plywood, and we would sit out on the back road and play quarters.

00:10:59 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my gosh.

00:11:00 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 2:

We would also do slammer shots on that same plywood. Wow.

00:11:07 - 00:11:13 | Speaker 4:

Oh, were you lifted up and everybody drinks at the same time? Yeah.

00:11:13 - 00:11:29 | Speaker 1:

Yes. Wow. How old are you now, Pam, if you don't mind me asking? I am 55. 55 years old. She is a 55-year-old grown woman. a mom, and she's talking about slammers right now on the radio. Pam, this brings back memories.

00:11:29 - 00:11:31 | Speaker 2:

This was the best time of my life.

00:11:31 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God. Don't tell your kids that. Your kids are really wondering, wait a second, Mom, I thought I was. What's up, Mary Beth? Hi, Mary Beth. Oh, the fans tapping her. This does not sound like Mary Beth. You're not Mary Beth. Did you carjack Mary Beth? Hello? All right, see if Mary Beth is around. What's up, Jackie? Hi.

00:12:00 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 3:

Hi, good morning. First time on time. Hey, Jackie on the phone.

00:12:05 - 00:12:06 | Speaker 1:

What's happening?

00:12:07 - 00:12:59 | Speaker 3:

Hey, so I just wanted to talk about a game I used to play. It was a car drinking game called Kings. And I don't know if anybody remembers Kings, but that was all the cards went in the middle of the table. And then as you turn them over, so eighth was Waterfall. Whoever pulled that would start drinking, and then you would go around the table, and whoever, like, you can't stop until the previous person stops. So that's Waterfall. And then two through eight was, you know, you pass out drinks. If you drew a black five, you pass out five drinks. And then if you drew a red one, you had to drink the five. And then when you got up to, like, nine, it was bust a rhyme. If you can't rhyme, then. So you had to, like, pick a word like Sam and rhyme with it. And then whoever couldn't rhyme with it had to take a drink. It was pretty crazy.

00:12:59 - 00:13:03 | Speaker 4:

This is where I'm like, I just want to drink. I just want to drink. Don't teach me a game.

00:13:04 - 00:13:11 | Speaker 1:

Jackie, this is amazing, isn't it, how life has changed for you? You've gone from that to now you're probably in a book club, aren't you?

00:13:12 - 00:13:17 | Speaker 3:

No, but I've been a nurse for 15 years, so I've established my career. I got three kids.

00:13:17 - 00:14:10 | Speaker 1:

so yeah all right see it's and life changes doesn't it it's amazing how life will change for you uh jaylen what's up it's mojo in the morning hey guys good morning good morning what's going on so have you guys ever watched or heard of the show supernatural yeah yes what is what does that have to do with uh quarters well this is a drinking game not quarters but you drink anytime Samer Dean says oh really okay so I know I played that before I played that though with a lot of things like debates yeah you watch the debate and every time they you know State of the Union yeah I like those kind of drinking games those games are easy I don't have to do anything other than just listen for what they're saying this one actually takes physical activity and I'll be honest with you I've already hurt my shoulder at drinking Mary Beth is back with us done with her car jacking what's going on Mary Beth

00:14:11 - 00:14:18 | Speaker 2:

Well, I'm on your team tonight. Are you really? And I don't know how to play quarters either.

00:14:18 - 00:14:26 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God, Mary Beth, this is not good. This is us playing with each other. We're not going to be great if we don't know how to play, Mary Beth.

00:14:26 - 00:14:35 | Speaker 4:

I'm telling you, these games are beginner's luck, which means that because you have Mary Beth on your team, you're going to win. What is the alcohol, by the way, that's going to be in the cups? Do you know? Do you get to choose?

00:14:35 - 00:14:39 | Speaker 1:

I'm hoping we get to choose, Mary Beth. What's your choice? You're a whiner, aren't you? And don't you like whining?

00:14:39 - 00:14:42 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, I am. Yeah, or I'll drink a beer.

00:14:42 - 00:14:46 | Speaker 1:

Okay. All right. Well, I'm hoping it's bourbon. I'm, like, kind of going with that.

00:14:46 - 00:14:47 | Speaker 3:

You will die.

00:14:47 - 00:14:47 | Speaker 1:

That's what I'm saying.

00:14:48 - 00:14:49 | Speaker 2:

We've got to pay so soon.

00:14:49 - 00:14:58 | Speaker 1:

No, but the whole thing is, if it's bourbon, if you've got bourbon there and the other person's not a bourbon drinker, then you get them drunk first. Yeah, but you're not going to win.

00:14:58 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 4:

Let's be real here.

00:14:59 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 1:

Mary Beth.

00:15:00 - 00:15:03 | Speaker 4:

We are going to take down my wife's team. I want you to know that, okay?

00:15:04 - 00:15:08 | Speaker 1:

Well, I'm trying to get Keith to get on her team. He's supposed to be playing on her team.

00:15:08 - 00:15:20 | Speaker 4:

Which one? Who's a better drinker, you or your husband, Keith? Keith would be better. Okay. All right. Well, tonight it's on. And if I'm not in tomorrow, you know the reason why. I've lost quarters.

00:15:20 - 00:15:35 | Speaker 5:
