This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

Allen Lee, my major is drafting and design. In high school, I did it since my sophomore year, and I kind of wanted to continue it. It was the only thing I was good at. I didn't want to move to a four-year, I don't think I'm mentally prepared. I found Bishop State, they had the program, I met a few people there, I ended up enrolling. The instructor, first day I met him, I told him about my background, he said, okay, great, you know about this. He built me straight to work, he didn't let me have any leeway, he pushed me to my limits, so I think that made me choose drafting design at Bishop State and stuck with it. The sport's amazing, all my instructors just want to see me succeed, they want to push me to my limit, they want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be, and I really appreciate all of them. With my degree, as of right now, my plan is to work for the city of Mobile with their urban planning department. And I've already got a job shadow before, and hopefully I will internship over the summer. If you choose Bishop, we're welcome to have you any day.

All right, it is Mojo in the morning. God, I feel like such an a-hole. So I'm sound asleep. I went to bed. Chelsea stayed up. She was going to watch 90 Day Fiance on the DVR, and I had such a sound sleep going. And in the, I don't know what time it was, maybe 11-ish or something like that, she came to bed. She said that I was sleeping like an angel. So she got over me and gave me a kiss at the point I was in a dream, thinking I was getting carjacked in our radio station parking lot and i started swinging what i on chelsea thank god that my wife has good reflexes that she can get out of the way of a punch because otherwise i would probably hit her i freaking almost punched my wife in my sleep no yeah have you has that ever happened to any of you guys no have you is there anybody that is that's ever like punched whoever they were laying next to in bed i have you have i have and i've kicked him too jeez i'm bad i'm really bad at that it i felt horrible about the whole thing she was like oh my god i was just trying to give you a kiss i'm like holy crap i'm like i my heart started racing i'm like i was getting carjacked and i was in the parking lot here at the radio studios and i was like freaking out and now it's funny because i pull in the parking lot here all the time i'm like looking around because you're wondering what's going on um 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 have you ever had a nightmare and got violent in your dream because your nightmare was so crazy it was like insanity that that happened i guess it's called rem sleep behavior disorder where you get violent movements and stuff that happen in your sleep and sometimes your partner's the on the other end of those

violent lucy must have that because whenever i sleep with lucy she she doesn't like punch necessarily but she does lead these like crazy and you can't see me because this is the radio but like she like kicks and like moves her arms and like but she's strong so if you're sleeping next to her like you are you're gonna get it you're in the way do you ever go into her room in the morning and like her covers are all over the place every single day i bet every single day

that's how her bed is it's funny because it's crazy does she say does she get good sound sleep though because i feel like that on those sleep nights i get the best sound sleep it's weird i don't know although i will say this though the last like uh few weeks i found myself sleeping in the same position the entire night, waking up, and my body hurts me because I've been laying in the same spot the entire time.

That's how I sleep. I call that Dracula sleep. I love it. Dracula sleep. And I sleep in a little teeny-tiny ball, all curled up. And then I just raise up with my hands crossed on my chest, and I just stand there. I said.

um i have accidentally punched my husband like multiple times um it just happened like two days ago he kisses me goodbye because he leaves like way earlier than me in the morning oh gee um and i'm a really heavy sleeper and he like texted me later that day and was like yeah you punched

me this morning when i said goodbye to you you don't even realize you punched him i don't know oh my gosh that poor guy does he ever have a black eye no thank goodness nobody knows like that's the part that i'm so worried about is i don't want to get violent like that in my sleep and then have it be where i hurt her because it sounds like an excuse i don't want to leave marks

um so i was dreaming and my husband came to bed and he does not like anyone to touch his face ever but he said i was in such a good deep sleep that i started like patting his face to make sure it was him next to me so he thought really i was having a dream where i was being attacked and i He said, I reached my thumb underneath his eyeball.

Good morning, guys. Good morning. He has the same reaction. No matter what type of sleep he's in, if I try to wake him up, as a matter of fact, I step back. He puts his fist up and sometimes he does swing. But one time in particular, we were watching something on TV in the front room and a large bird flew into a window right above like where I was sitting. And my husband had fallen asleep with a beer bottle in between like his legs and he picked it up and it hit the wall right above my head and shattered.

Oh. yeah it was we were both so thankful that you know nothing had occurred but that was one of the worst times yeah he's constantly startled out of his sleep i don't know if something happened to him when he was a child but no matter what stage of sleep he's in it'll happen that's

craziness that's unbelievable that he picked up the bottle yeah it's amazing to spill the bottle like while it's just sitting there in between his legs see i'm torn because i would be scared to get

hit but also i've been with guys that like just don't wake up and protect you so it's nice to

know that like he's on it he did even if he's beating you up in the middle of the night but

My name is Neterica Terry LaMille, and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently. even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm that resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.
