It's Mojo in the morning, day after Mother's Day. Hopefully you had a great Mother's Day. I did something this Mother's Day that I want to shout out to all the guys. Listen up. Because it kind of came together through the help of a very good friend of mine that was listening to the show and then having Chelsea on the show. And I want to say this. I gave Chelsea a gift for Mother's Day that she said was the best Mother's Day gift that she had ever gotten in her life. And it cost me $10.74. Literally, I know that because I looked at my Amazon receipt on this. And when I gave it to her, it cost for lots of tears. Now, I feel kind of, you know, bad that I can't share and play what happened. but I promised Luke that if I do or if I played it he said to me or he promised me he would never talk to me as a dad ever again it's so personal between Chelsea and Luke that I'm going to do that but I will share exactly what happened so remember last week when I went on the air and I was talking I was trying to get Chelsea to cry and I said to you guys okay we're going to talk Mother's Day It's Chelsea's last Mother's Day with Luke at home before he goes away to college, you know, stuff like that. Well, I was talking to Chelsea, and I asked her questions about Luke that I thought would get her emotional. And one of the questions that I just randomly asked was, hey, what was the book that you read to Luke when you were, you know, putting him to bed every single night? Because Chelsea was really big on reading to the kids every single night. And the kids loved it. That was their way. They had to go to bed with a good book read, and that was her way to kind of get, you know, get them to bed. And she said The Giving Tree, which is a book by author Shel Silverstein.

Such a classic. Such a good one.

Well, very good friend of the Mojo in the Morning show. You guys know our friend Sarah, who's out in Houston.

Sarah Pepper. Yes. She listens to our podcast. So she'll hear our show on podcast a lot and she'll like randomly, you know, catch a segment or two. She listened to that segment and she and I were talking and she said, have you gotten Chelsea a Mother's Day gift? And I said, yeah, I got an idea of what I'm going to get. And I was going to spend, you know, a couple few hundred dollars on a wedding or a Mother's Day gift for her. She said, I got a great idea. You should get that book. And what you should do is you should have Luke write in that book how much Chelsea means to him and then give her that as a book, as a, you know, a gift. And we were sitting there randomly talking back and forth. And then we all because we always in radio think of what's the audio segment to this whole thing.

Like everything has to have an audio component. So it sounds good on the air.

And the audio component of this that I thought I'd be able to play but I can't because Luke doesn't want me to was and then maybe have him read the book to Chelsea. so that she can, anytime that he's away at college, can go and watch a video of Luke, you know, reading her, the book that she read to him so many times.

I would cry like a baby.

It was the Chelsea did. I don't know if Chelsea's, hold on. Let me just see real quick.

Because as a mom, that's one of those core memories. Like you remember, you remember every word to those books and you remember like the snuggles you were getting, you know, every night. Hello?

It's the greatest husband in the world that got you the greatest Mother's Day gift ever in your life.

I'll never hear the end of this.

You told me that. You said that was the greatest Mother's Day gift I've ever gotten.

Well, that was after a drink. Yes, it is true. It is true.

Second best. It was the second best because the video.

The video. Oh, the one where I had all the kids.

Yeah, because all three were involved in that, yeah.

So what were you thinking, A, when you got, because I showed her the video first. I didn't even show her the book first. Showed her the video first, and there's Luke sitting down with the book in hand saying, Mom, you read this to me, now I'm going to read it to you. What were you first thinking?

I mean, I just all of a sudden got super emotional. Very, very emotional

And then as he was reading it And he got emotional It was amazing

Oh yeah, yeah First I was concerned he couldn't read But then I realized he was just being emotional You know, you worry Oh my gosh Can this kid not really read?

No No, he By the way, that's the funniest part Is that all I kept thinking the whole time was God, Luke, just read it right. Just go. I've never had Luke read to me since he was like a little, little kid. And then he read his letter to you, which was awesome.

Yeah, very sweet. So he wrote the letter like actually in the pages of the book? Yeah, it's at the end of the book.

And can I just say this to the listeners without giving away what Luke wrote in the letter? His letter was about, you know, what we've been talking about on this show for like the last month or so about the emotions of him being our last, going away to college, the fact that we're going to miss him. But he kind of was giving Chelsea comfort in the fact that he's going to be okay. Yeah. And he used references from that book. Yeah. Like, if Luke's English teacher is listening, you did great with him. Because I'm going to say this to you. What he did was better than anything I've ever seen him do in school. Like what he did in that one particular thing was way better than any homework assignment or thing that Luke has ever done. And it meant the most. And I credit his teachers for that. Yeah, like I started crying and then I was like, I'm okay. And then you said that you made a video of him reading the book. Like, oh, my God. Like, that's so amazing of you.

Like you've always wanted the boys just to pull out construction paper or a piece of notebook paper and draw you something.

And actually, to be honest with you, I feel like the more expensive I got with any gifts over the years, the more meaningless they kind of were. And this was the most personal. And I will say this, that thank you to Sarah Pepper, by the way, for brainstorming this with me and being great. And I'm bringing her in as my third on this relationship. Because if you really want, honestly. That's what this whole thing was about. If you really. No, no, no. Because here's the thing. She has no attraction to me. She likes Chelsea. Yep. If you have any issues, guys, trying to get something for your lovely wife, bring a lesbian.

Ask your lesbian friend who would do that.
