We're out on location for breaking entering Christmas wish. Hi, KP. Hi. This is one that I think you are going to cry with. And the reason I say that, because the story alone is a tearjerker. It's a story about two young guys. Both of them are right around 20, 19, and 20 years old. Michael Dean and Steven are two buddies. They became friends because of the hardship that they had of their parents. And do we have Donna there who is going to read this letter to them? Donna?

00:02:19 - 00:02:19 | Speaker 6:

Hello.

00:02:20 - 00:02:22 | Speaker 5:

Hi. How did you get to know these guys?

00:02:23 - 00:02:45 | Speaker 6:

I have had the pleasure of knowing them for their whole life since they were little. They've been friends since they were about four or five. I know both of their grandmas. Their grandmas worked together as retired teachers. So, well, they're retired teachers now, but I've known both families for a very, very long time, and we are very close, so it feels good to help these guys out.

00:02:45 - 00:03:16 | Speaker 5:

That's great. And their circumstances are very similar, but their circumstances could have led to them possibly going in that direction they had parents that had some struggles but instead they got together and they have overcome so many odds oh yes they have all right we're gonna grant them a wish this morning uh will you guys hang out there and then lydia is gonna make a phone call here and we're gonna see i don't know who do you think will pick up the phone uh and i'm not sure

00:03:16 - 00:03:24 | Speaker 6:

which boy will, but I gave the number, so call. So one of them will definitely answer. It might be Steven. I think I gave his number.

00:03:25 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 5:

Okay, so let's see what happens here. They live together, and let's grant a Christmas wish this morning here on the Mojo in the Morning Show. Hello, Steven.

00:03:37 - 00:03:37 | Speaker 1:

Hello.

00:03:38 - 00:03:39 | Speaker 5:

Is it Steven or Michael?

00:03:41 - 00:03:42 | Speaker 1:

Both of us.

00:03:42 - 00:03:46 | Speaker 5:

Both Steven and Michael. Hi, guys. It's Mojo from Mojo in the Morning Show.

00:03:46 - 00:03:48 | Speaker 6:

Good morning. Good morning.

00:03:49 - 00:04:16 | Speaker 5:

Good morning, guys. Hey, guys, I hate to call this early in the morning because I know you guys are very, very busy, but our Mojo in the Morning Show got a letter from one of your biggest supporters ever for our Breaking and Entering Christmas Wish program that told us that you guys are some amazing guys, that you have done some cool stuff in your lives. Can I have them read the letter to you?

00:04:17 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, go for it.

00:04:18 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 5:

Go ahead, Don.

00:04:19 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 7:

Dear Mojo in the morning, I want to tell you about two exceptional young men. This is not just a story about two young men in need. It's not just a story about survival. This is a story about a beautiful, lifelong friendship, a true friendship, best friends. My name is Donna, and I would like to introduce you to Stephen Phillips and Michael Best. Steven grew up without his dad being there. Michael's dad sadly passed away. The boys were both ultimately raised by their grandmothers. The boys grew up without much and still don't have much to this day. They both...

00:05:00 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 1:

graduated from high school, Michael went on to enroll in college, while Stephen found his job. Stephen was even faced with homelessness. They have endured countless odds stacked against them, and so much heartache, but they continue to push forward, work hard, and show kindness to others. These young men deserve a wonderful Christmas. They wouldn't have made it if they didn't have each other to lean on and get through the hard times together mojo please help me make

00:05:31 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 3:

this holiday a memorable one for them sincerely donna wow this is a beautiful story yeah yes guys that you got thank goodness you had each other yeah to get through everything that was thrown at you it's a perfect example of chosen family you chose each other

00:05:55 - 00:05:59 | Speaker 5:

Oh, yeah, since day one until then.

00:06:01 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 2:

Guys, this is amazing to me because I'm like crying just off of Donna's letter that she sent. And I can picture you two guys, just buds, always there for each other for life. That you'll be the best men in each other's weddings, you know. You'll be there for each other when you guys have your own families.

00:06:20 - 00:06:31 | Speaker 3:

I have to tell you, somebody sent us a picture of you guys. and you're maybe six or seven years old. Fast forward to now. And there you guys are together.

00:06:34 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 2:

00:10:47 - 00:11:49 | Speaker 6:

and steven can you guys hear me yeah hey guys my name is my name is kev and um obviously i'm a part of the mojo in the morning show and team and i read it in your story that both of you guys have had parents that were incarcerated and everybody's situation is different but my father was incarcerated when i was younger and for me that was a very lonely experience even though i have family not everybody knew what i felt like so to know that you have a brother right next to you has to be the most incredible thing to have someone that you can hug, that you can talk to, that understands what you're experiencing. And I heard a quote one time that said, the best wine is grown in the toughest soil. And with your grandmothers there, your brothers there, the ground is tough, man. But you guys are those grapes and you're growing. And I just wanted to say Merry Christmas, man, and I love y'all.

00:11:49 - 00:11:49 | Speaker 8:

I love that guy.

00:11:49 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 2:

God, that is beautiful. Yeah, thank you very much. I cannot go a day this week without crying.

00:11:54 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 7:

I know, I know. Actually, today was supposed to be the guys' days, and Kevin just made me cry, too. Guys, you're a model for truly what this season is all about. And grandmas, you are, too, because you know what? Grandmas are the greatest people ever. There's no bad grandma.

00:12:15 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 2:

Right.

00:12:15 - 00:12:17 | Speaker 7:

And we love you guys.

00:12:17 - 00:12:22 | Speaker 2:

Are you looking to be stopped anymore? Because this looks like a birthday show.

00:12:22 - 00:12:23 | Speaker 7:

I still have two more grandkids. Wow.

00:12:24 - 00:12:27 | Speaker 2:

You're so cute. Yeah, I think I'm done.

00:12:28 - 00:12:31 | Speaker 7:

You guys are like the golden girls of Detroit, I think, aren't you?

00:12:32 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 2:

We even share the same birthday. Oh, my God.

00:12:36 - 00:12:43 | Speaker 7:

KP, let's get these guys a celebration, a Christmas celebration they've never had before. And let's enjoy this one.

00:12:43 - 00:12:49 | Speaker 8:

Let's do it. We'll do Merry Christmas and one, two, three. One, two, three. Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas.
