For years, The Unhoused has been presented as a monolith in mainstream media. We The Unhoused is a podcast that's changing the narrative. I'm Theo Henderson, and I created the show while I was unhoused on the streets of Los Angeles. We've grown into a two-time Webby Award winning podcast. The only podcast that shares unhoused stories and news from the unhoused perspective. Listen to Weezy and Howes on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

00:01:00 - 00:01:16 | Speaker 5:

Hey, it's Alec Baldwin. This season on my podcast, Here's the Thing, I talk to composer Mark Shaman. It's about the hang. It's the pleasure of hanging out with the people that you're with. You know, Rob and I was always a great hang. And director Morgan Neville.

00:01:16 - 00:01:26 | Speaker 6:

Film school teaches you all the wrong things about making documentary. What do you want to say? Documentary is all about your ear. What do you hear? I feel like my job is listening really, really hard.

00:01:26 - 00:01:33 | Speaker 5:

Listen to Here's the Thing on the iHeartRadio app Apple Podcasts. or wherever you get your podcasts.

00:01:33 - 00:01:54 | Speaker 6:

All right, Mojo in the Morning. So my wife does not want to ever let me drive a car ever again until I go and get lessons. So I took driver's ed way back when I was 16 years old, and obviously I'm way older than 16. You know, I'm over 50.

00:01:54 - 00:01:55 | Speaker 5:

Barely.

00:01:55 - 00:01:56 | Speaker 6:

Just barely.

00:01:56 - 00:01:57 | Speaker 5:

Who's your favorite today?

00:01:57 - 00:02:16 | Speaker 6:

Thank you. You're sweet. i just winked at you i don't know if you can tell by the sound effect but that's what it was so um chel you guys have all everybody on the show has said that i'm a horrible driver chelsea has said that i'm a horrible driver hold on one second i'm gonna call her out so for some reason

00:02:16 - 00:02:22 | Speaker 2:

you think the jury's still out no there's still a shot they're still but the the interesting thing

00:02:22 - 00:02:56 | Speaker 6:

is and i'll pull this up with my wife my wife does not want me to drive anymore hi chels Hi. My wife does not want me to drive anymore, and she wants to drive everywhere we go. And she said the only time that she will get into a car with me behind the driver's, you know, steering wheel is if I go and get driver's ed classes. Do they have adult driver's ed classes? Is there a driver's ed school that's listening? Can I do a refresher course? Because she wants me to get recertified. Why do you think I'm a bad driver, Chelsea?

00:02:56 - 00:02:59 | Speaker 4:

because you're a bad driver

00:02:59 - 00:03:02 | Speaker 2:

where should she start

00:03:02 - 00:03:21 | Speaker 4:

you know the specific one reason where there's a horrible driver and you do not pay attention you're always going swerving into other people's lanes and then I'll say pay attention what are you doing you'll say come on come on come on

00:03:21 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 6:

but this is the thing you guys all do this where you guys all say And when I say you guys, I'm including these guys in on this, Chelsea. You guys make fun of my driving and say I'm a horrible driver. I'm not making fun of it.

00:03:36 - 00:03:37 | Speaker 4:

I'm afraid for my life.

00:03:37 - 00:03:41 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, I was going to say I'm not making fun either. I'm serious as a heart attack when I'm in that front seat.

00:03:42 - 00:03:48 | Speaker 6:

But can you guys tell me when have I ever gotten into an accident while you guys have been in the car?

00:03:49 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 5:

I like the caveat. We're not just worried about us.

00:03:52 - 00:03:55 | Speaker 4:

We're worried about everybody who's listening right now.

00:03:55 - 00:03:59 | Speaker 6:

No, I'm really only worried about myself.

00:03:59 - 00:04:04 | Speaker 4:

Because if something happens to me, I mean, thank God Luke's almost 18, but I mean.

00:04:04 - 00:04:10 | Speaker 6:

But seriously, have I ever been in a car accident with you guys in the car, with any of you guys in the car?

00:04:10 - 00:04:38 | Speaker 4:

But I don't think that really matters. Literally, you try to play radio DJ in the car where you want us to listen to your horrible music that is almost as bad as you're driving. And then, you know, and then you don't even let it get to the end of the song. I play the throwback throwdown. And then you have to keep on. It's really scary. And especially when we have other people in the car. Like, over the weekend, we had Brooke in the car. And you're just driving out. It just scares me.

00:04:38 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 6:

Brooke is our little cutie pie. Which, by the way, I should have Brittany. I posted it on my social. I should have Brittany send Reese us singing MC Hammer's Can't Touch This, speaking of really good songs, with Brooke, who is like looking at me like I was insane. But a quick one here. What was the guy's name?

00:05:00 - 00:05:05 | Speaker 2:

that that was he actually was a really nice guy and he had the driving school that luke went to

00:05:05 - 00:05:11 | Speaker 6:

what was the driving school luke went to oh my gosh i can't remember right now it was i'm gonna

00:05:11 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 2:

see if i can i wonder if i can get him um to give me to let oh mark k remember mark k but here's the

00:05:20 - 00:05:32 | Speaker 6:

problem with you you will get official driving school talking about other things and then people just get distracted they get really just because you can you're a charmer that's how i near you

00:05:32 - 00:05:38 | Speaker 1:

like you charmed me and i feel if he's in the driver's ed he's going to be on his best behavior

00:05:38 - 00:05:56 | Speaker 6:

and paying attention it's not the same as when he's with you he won't he won't he'll mess up but but then y'all you know you you have this away with people like you're really really good and so people don't realize until they're in the hospital from bad accident what's going on

00:05:56 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 2:

Until it's too late. Until we're in the back of somebody's backseat of his car. Right. Are there any other people who will not drive with, like, their spouse? Like, they will not. Because it is totally, is it demasculating or emasculating? Because it's whatever masculating, and I've tried to figure this out before.

00:06:19 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 3:

It's the not good one.

00:06:20 - 00:06:30 | Speaker 2:

When I pull up at a friend's house And I get out of the passenger seat It almost makes me wish I could sit in the back seat And pretend like she's an Uber

00:06:30 - 00:06:34 | Speaker 6:

But I told you that we could drive separate I'm okay with driving separate

00:06:34 - 00:06:40 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, like if he wants to go to lunch It looks like a funeral procession from a radio station Because none of us want to get in his car

00:06:40 - 00:06:44 | Speaker 2:

Hold on, Mojo in the morning What's up, Misty?

00:06:45 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 4:

Hey, Mojo So my husband's cousin when we were younger was dating a girl that worked at the dmv this is down south got him a driver's license my husband has never gone to driver's ed he's never taken a road test oh my gosh worst driver ever he literally totaled my car seven days later i'm sorry let me fix that told his car had him driving my car and i drove the rental seven days later he did 13 000 oh god

00:07:13 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 2:

So he's had two accidents in one week.

00:07:16 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 4:

And of course, he's the best driver ever.

00:07:18 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I hate to say this because I know it could actually screw me, but I don't think I've ever had that before. Everybody thinks I'm such a bad driver and talks about how you're horrible, you're going to kill somebody. I'm driving a car. I'm doing okay. I got a very big car, and sometimes it's hard. I'm very comfortable in my Tahoe. The problem is not me. It's General Motors. You make your car so comfortable that I forget I'm driving. Michelle, what's up?

00:07:46 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 5:

Good morning. So my husband was the worst driver. We would never go out anymore because I would be in tears because he would drive so terrible. I'm like, who are you racing? We're in Rochester. You don't have to go fast. Everyone's old around here.

00:08:06 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 2:

Chels actually complains about how fast I'm driving too, how slow. Not how fast, how slow.

00:08:13 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 5:

Oh, see, my husband was the opposite, and it was terrible. So he finally got a Tesla, and he drives so much better because the car drives itself.

00:08:21 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 2:

Maybe that's what I need, Chelsea. Maybe I need, like, an autonomous vehicle.

00:08:27 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 5:

And you know what? It gives me such peace of mind that he is not driving like an idiot anymore. Because I can see where he's at on the app and how fast he's driving, and the car breaks by itself. does it really work

00:08:43 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 2:

that would be nice to be able that would be so nice to be able to like in the morning I could read

00:08:48 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 5:

while I'm going to work and it's that all wheel drive you don't get stuck

00:08:53 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 3:

in the snow maybe I need to

00:08:55 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 2:

I don't know

00:08:55 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 3:

I am with you by the way I am not the greatest driver in the whole entire world in fact you guys make fun of me I'm not good with directions I'm not the greatest driver it has come to the point though in my relationship where Wes's son is 15 and trying to get like you know accrue all the hours or whatever for his driving test so they even he won't let me drive he would rather his 15 year old son than me which is the ultimate well it is

00:09:21 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 2:

tough for you to see over the steering wheel so that's probably um all right chelis well i i've got listeners that say that they they retook the driver's test so maybe i can do this i'll call mark up and see if mark k will let me come in i would love to see you in driving class it'd be great social content, Reese. Wouldn't that be cool? Me and a bunch of 15-year-olds or 14. No, 14 and a half, I think, in Michigan, right? You can actually start

00:09:43 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 3:

doing... But then you got to take the test again. Just for fun. The road test.

00:09:47 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 2:

Sam? Yes? Such a bad driver. What's the story? My

00:09:53 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 5:

dog will not ride in the car with my mom. If the dog sees my mom in the driver's seat, she will not get in the car.

00:10:00 - 00:10:02 | Speaker 2:

that's funny

00:10:02 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 4:

on the way to Florida my dad started driving first and they switched in Ohio the dog was pacing the dog was panting the dog barking the whole thing oh my gosh she said this is bull crap I'll pull over and dad can drive that's funny the dog went right back to sleep

00:10:19 - 00:10:48 | Speaker 3:

Picture a nurse in scrubs. Got it? Okay. Now picture a nurse wearing a windbreaker and rain boots, because those can be scrubs too, in a suit at a policy meeting. Also scrubs. A high-biz vest and a hard hat? Definitely scrubs. Sun hat and bug spray? Scrubs, Florida style. Jeans and a tee? You guessed it, still scrubs. You might think you know what a nurse looks like, but it's not what they wear, it's how they care. For us, and for all of Florida. The Florida Center for Nursing, recognizing all our state's nurses.
