It's that, and then there's everything else. Dude, his whole life has sounded like the first drop of a roller coaster. I mean, I can't even tell you, Paul, how crazy it was. It was insane.

The World Cup is underway, and it's been incredible. On our podcast, The Away End, with Daniel Alarcon and John Green, we're talking about the games that have delighted us, the teams that have inspired us, what we're loving and what surprised us, all through the lens of being massive fans of the world's most beautiful game.

00:01:14 - 00:01:28 | Speaker 6:

Daniel, this tournament has been magical so far. There's so much to love, and I can hardly believe the drama that the group stage brought us. And now it's time for us to talk about the teams that are left as the field is whittled down to one World Cup champion on July 19th.

00:01:28 - 00:01:35 | Speaker 7:

There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.

It is Mojo in the Morning. So I got a DM from somebody that was very important in my life. Important only from, I guess, the aspect of they deflowered me. The girl that I lost my virginity to DM'd me.

00:02:54 - 00:02:57 | Speaker 7:

What? Yes. Was it like the anniversary?

00:02:57 - 00:03:07 | Speaker 3:

No, it was not. It was not the anniversary. Actually, she DM'd me to congratulate me and congratulate Chelsea on our son getting engaged.

00:03:07 - 00:03:08 | Speaker 2:

That is very nice.

00:03:08 - 00:03:11 | Speaker 3:

It was. It was actually very, very nice.

00:03:11 - 00:03:11 | Speaker 4:

I don't know.

00:03:11 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 3:

But it brought back. Why?

00:03:13 - 00:03:15 | Speaker 4:

But she included Chelsea in it. We all talked, though?

00:03:15 - 00:03:19 | Speaker 3:

No. But we're friends on Facebook and Instagram.

00:03:19 - 00:03:20 | Speaker 2:

Just a little random.

00:03:20 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 3:

Go ahead. that's a big occasion it was but you know what it was and it was not a dm so okay so let me explain this because i'm going to take away my cool factor on this it wasn't a dm like where it was just suddenly i look and i got a message from somebody and i look at it and it's like sultry and she's trying to like get back in my pants or anything like that it was her commenting on one of the stories that i had which was a story that involved joe and them okay okay joe and Alyssa and stuff like that so uh and it was her comment going oh my god this is so crazy can you believe all these years you know later it's like you're now you got a son that's getting you know going to be getting married and I'm like yeah way to make me feel old um but um this was actually an interesting one to tell you about because when I lost my virginity and this is by the way for those I'll keep this as clean as possible so you can have your kids listen to it so when I ate my cookie for the first time I was like we ate one cookie all right um we were baking cookies for the very first time it was kind of an interesting uh circumstance because the girl that I lost my virginity to was not a girl I was dating she was just a best girlfriend like she was a yeah you guys ever have guy friends that were just guy friends that you hung out with this was a girl that I just hung out with and it was a girl that she and I were very very close but we were not romantically tied I definitely had feelings for her I don't think she had feelings for me except

00:04:50 - 00:04:54 | Speaker 2:

for that one night did you grow up with her uh we grew up in the same neighborhood that's the best

00:04:54 - 00:05:14 | Speaker 3:

that's the best so it was really nice it was cool because I didn't have to lose my virginity like my buddy did to a prostitute attitude which which is a different story i'll get oh yeah one of my buddies lost a lost it to a girl uh uh at the show of shows no uh another one it's a guy i've never talked about on the

00:05:14 - 00:05:18 | Speaker 2:

air but he was a good friend the first time we're not getting a first and last name the place was

00:05:18 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 3:

called the show the place was called the show of shows and it was one of those like strip clubs they'll take you in the back room and and uh deflower and deflower you so let me get back to mind by the way if you've ever lost your uh your virginity to a strip or to a uh hooker you got to call us up because i'd be wanting to know from you do you tell people that why not because i don't think he does why not i don't i there's no way that his wife knows that he's had no that he lost

00:05:44 - 00:06:05 | Speaker 4:

his virginity to a hooker i wear it like a badge of honor her name was cheryl it was never cheryl I don't know the first thing in my mind. It was Chad Diamond. I imagine her being older. Crystal. With like a fake like a mink. Like one of those short ones. Like at the waist.

00:06:05 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 3:

Like I don't know. And what was the pimp's name that was there?

00:06:08 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 4:

Ronald. Ronald.

00:06:12 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 1:

My God, you guys. All right, we are so... Go back to the story.

00:06:15 - 00:06:32 | Speaker 3:

Yes, this is a big moment here right now. So I got emotional because the way... And tell me if I was bad for doing this. I think I might have taken advantage of her. It was the night that she found out that her mom and dad were getting a divorce. But you baked cookies.

00:06:32 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 2:

Yes. Okay, you caught her in her most vulnerable state. It was bad.

00:06:37 - 00:07:11 | Speaker 3:

I feel horrible for this. Shame on you. No, I feel horrible for it, even to the point that I think that's why I got emotional. She had called me up and told me that her parents were fighting, her dad and her mom were fighting. her dad you know guy I guess had a little bit too much to drink or something like that and uh so she's like can you come pick me up so I'm like to the rescue and I got there and we ended up having sex and we had sex we actually made out for the first it was the first time we ever kissed and then next thing you know it went further because she was into it and because I was a very good kisser at one time I love that he had to stop the story

00:07:11 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 5:

His face lit up

00:07:13 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 4:

Like you would not believe Cap goes yeah little Tommy Yeah Tommy

00:07:18 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 3:

My sister told me I'm the greatest kisser She's ever kissed

00:07:22 - 00:07:27 | Speaker 4:

You kissed every pillow in the house You better be My hand is pleased

00:07:27 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 3:

So she and I Then ended up going further And I won't go any further than to say that She cried and I cried With her and I go This is unbelievable and then I thought for sure oh my god I think we're going to start dating and that was it. It actually kind of affected our relationship afterwards because once you do that you're kind of like. Did you guys ever talk

00:07:49 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 1:

about it after that? We talked

00:07:51 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 3:

about it a couple of times like we talked about it before we went to college and before we went off to school because we totally went. I stayed home for school. She went away to school and we talked about how you know hey she actually was very appreciative of the fact that I was very good not in bed but I was very good i was a good like you let it be like i but you know and i didn't yeah but i also was more focused on her and her her parents and stuff like that especially in the moment but i wanted it so bad

00:08:19 - 00:08:24 | Speaker 1:

afterwards like it was so bad i mean so okay question about the dm what did you show it to

00:08:24 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 3:

chelis or did you tell chelis that i've not i did not know okay because it was nothing other than i had a million people that said thank you to me there's for sure i just didn't know like i guess i would i would you would have said something like hey you're never gonna believe we don't chelsea's heard the story before like she's heard the story about me losing and how i

00:08:43 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 2:

lost my virginity i just didn't know if she would feel a certain way about this girl reaching out

00:08:49 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 3:

or not that it means anything it doesn't i'm not i'll be honest with you i chelsea's so smoking hot right now and has been all their life i did way better i like i got really i i way married above my my uh my grade let's go back to y'all crying yeah how was that um honestly i i got i i don't think i got emotional from the cookies i got emotional from the situation and how she got emotional but i i think that sometimes could be an emotional thing i don't know if anybody else has had that happen to them i've heard of people that cry all the time which would freak me out after a while that would totally freak me out yeah uh what's up cheryl how you doing

00:09:31 - 00:09:47 | Speaker 5:

hey good morning everybody i just wanted to thank kevin for ruining my entire day so not only am i offended because my name is cheryl and now apparently i'm known as a prostitute but i'm also an old prostitute

00:09:47 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 3:

00:09:54 - 00:09:57 | Speaker 5:

So thank you, Kevin, for ruining my Monday.

00:09:57 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 3:

00:10:54 - 00:10:58 | Speaker 4:

No, I respect that more because you don't want to die a virgin. Yeah.

00:10:59 - 00:11:01 | Speaker 6:

Hey, what's up, princess? I can see that.

00:11:01 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 7:

Hi.

00:11:02 - 00:11:03 | Speaker 6:

What's going on?

00:11:04 - 00:11:12 | Speaker 7:

I had a friend when she lost her virginity. She woke up to $1,000 on her nightstand, and she's never heard from the guy again.

00:11:12 - 00:11:13 | Speaker 6:

Oh. Okay.

00:11:13 - 00:11:18 | Speaker 7:

I would be so offended until I bought myself a nice purse.

00:11:18 - 00:11:19 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:11:19 - 00:11:20 | Speaker 7:

He was offended.

00:11:21 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 6:

Wait, why did they leave the $1,000?

00:11:24 - 00:11:33 | Speaker 7:

We don't know, but we told her, like, did he think you were a prostitute? Like, we asked her. She's like, I don't know. He won't respond to the text or anything or calls.

00:11:35 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 6:

Was her name Cheryl? Thank you. Thank you for the call. Appreciate it, princess. Hey, Mojo in the Morning, hello.

00:11:46 - 00:11:50 | Speaker 8:

Hi. Hi. I was calling about losing a virginity to a prostitute.

00:11:50 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. Oh, okay. And you're not the prostitute.

00:11:54 - 00:12:20 | Speaker 8:

your name is not cheryl is it no no no no would you like to say your name or no uh sure lindsey all right lindsey what's going on um so my little brother graduated high school in 2006 and my parents i don't know why but they took him and a group of his friends to amsterdam um to celebrate that summer and my brother's best friend was the only one in the group still a virgin and they went

00:12:20 - 00:12:27 | Speaker 6:

00:12:27 - 00:12:38 | Speaker 8:

00:12:38 - 00:12:52 | Speaker 6:

them go do their own thing could you imagine how how would you like to be the dad of that uh the kid or mom and know that our friend's parents took you to another country and then the parents said Yeah, we're going to help you lose your virginity, kid.

00:12:53 - 00:12:58 | Speaker 8:

They threw an alley-oop. By the way, they did a lot of stuff that their parents probably still don't know about.

00:12:59 - 00:13:04 | Speaker 6:

Here's the deal, though. If you're somebody that's going to lose it to a prostitute, that's the place to lose it to the prostitute, right?

00:13:05 - 00:13:06 | Speaker 7:

It's highly regulated, too, yeah.

00:13:07 - 00:13:10 | Speaker 6:

They're the A-class ones. They're the ones that get tested and all the rest of that stuff.

00:13:10 - 00:13:11 | Speaker 7:

Really? Yeah.

00:13:11 - 00:13:13 | Speaker 6:

There's no Sheryls there.

00:13:14 - 00:13:15 | Speaker 7:

leaders have to say. I would say Bishop State is like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, put in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be that you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or need 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State, with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four-year.
