This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:01:07 - 00:01:52 | Speaker 4:

I would say Bishop State's like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, people in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be there you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or any 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four year.

All right, it's Mojo in the Morning Show. Got a good show for you today. Thank you to everybody that came out to our podcast on Friday. I apologize for anything that we might have said that might have caught you off guard, but you can listen to the More Mojo podcast. You can check it out on our More Mojo podcast platform on the iHeartRadio app or just search More Mojo. but it was an hour and 50 some minutes almost a full feature film it was it was long imagine uh it was pretty wild it was great it was i got a couple things i want to share not about the actual podcast but about the evening that to me uh were very interesting number one uh we did a meet and greet afterwards um where we got a chance to you know take some pictures with people which by the way pictures are posted thank you to joe maroon for the pictures we love joe he's the best uh pictures are posted up there if you don't see yours uh dm us i think all of them have been posted but if you don't see yours we'll find out from joe if maybe there was some some kind of an issue with them but um there was one particular person that we took a picture with that i am not going to lie to you and i'm not going to say who it was because i don't want to embarrass him any more than just the story but had uh a very distinctive smell um it was a gentleman that I think it was body odor, but I don't know. It could be musk. It could be who knows. But I am not going to lie to you. It wasn't until last night that I realized I finally got the smell off of me. And it was funny because I said to Chelsea, I go, I can still smell Friday night. And she goes, what do you mean you can still smell Friday night? I go, I smell Friday night. Like there was a person that we took a picture with, and the guy put his arm around me. And when he put his arm around me, I think that he got me with his scent and I got skunked. I got skunked by the guy. And I can still smell it. And then it turned out that my clothes from Friday night were sitting in the bedroom closet. And so every time I go into the bedroom closet, I can still smell them. Do you know what I'm talking about? Because I think you smelled it too. I did.

00:04:06 - 00:04:12 | Speaker 2:

I turned to you after he walked away and I was like, oh. It was, the word I would use is pungent.

00:04:13 - 00:04:30 | Speaker 6:

It was pungent. It was very pungent. First off, let me say this to you. I've done lots of pictures with people over time. And sometimes their smell gets on you. And I'm sure my smell gets on them too. But this smell was very interesting. So I had that happen to me.

00:04:30 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 2:

Can I tell you what was my situation with that? I'm five feet tall. When people come up to us and put their arm around us, I get it in your actual face. It's right in the face.

00:04:40 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 6:

You get all of it. Yeah. You got skunked in the face. In the face. So I had that happen to me. And then after the thing's over with, I was really wiped out. I'll be honest with you, a week out from surgery, I don't know if necessarily I probably should have been doing that because I was really hurting there, especially towards the end.

00:05:00 - 00:06:02 | Speaker 3:

It's hard for me to stay in one spot. Like, during the show, at the end of the show, I get completely torn up. Like, it's bad. Like, I get exhausted because I'm still trying to heal from the surgery that I had. And I had my arm in a sling, and some people were kind of like, you know, every now and again, they'll come up next to it, and they'll hit you, so it hurts. Then we leave, and this happens to us. We leave, and Steve Gabbara drove us. Stevie G. He lost his car in the parking garage. What? Has any of our listeners ever lost their car in a parking garage before? They have a parking garage where the theater was, where the Imagine Royal Oak Theater is. And it's, I don't even know how many levels, but I don't think Steve remembered what level he parked on because we did take the elevator down because we parked that high. Because I think the first level was for residents that live in those apartments that are there. The first two levels. First two levels. So, well, Steve had a hard time finding his car. And it was one of those things where you're in a parking garage, and I guess it took them a while to figure out where it was.

00:06:03 - 00:06:30 | Speaker 2:

Have you ever lost your car in a parking lot rush? Or parking lot, like even at the mall? Well, I mean, like sometimes, especially, you know, depending upon how late you're running or how fast you're trying to get to the place, you just want to find the nearest spot. And you get out the car, you get on the elevator and get where you're going. And then at the end of the night, you're like, was it three or four? And then sometimes they have those levels where you think it's four, but it's like the lower version of four that you actually have to go through. and walk around and hit that panic button and you still don't know where the hell it's at.

00:06:30 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 3:

There is a garage that is over off of Woodward in downtown Detroit by where the Chase Center is, the Chase building is, whatever the deal is. And there is a parking garage there that has, it's like 1A, 1B or something like that. And I freaking go crazy.

00:06:47 - 00:06:54 | Speaker 1:

I know exactly what you're talking about. That parking garage has two, it's like two different parking garages, but you don't realize that when you go into one.

00:06:54 - 00:07:14 | Speaker 3:

Do you know what I do? Like, if you ever park at the airport, I park at the airport, I take a picture of the actual parking spot. I have to do that. Or if you've ever been, if you've never been Cedar Point, Cedar Point, you've got to figure out, I'm parked in, you know, I don't know. I'm parked in Rock and Roller Coaster One. I don't know what the hell they call their parking garage.

00:07:14 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 1:

I was at Costco last week, and I had that huge car. And you guys, me pushing a Costco car is comical because I'm so short. and I could not remember for the life of me where I parked. This is where Lucy always comes in handy because she has a great memory. She was not with me. I felt like an idiot. And you can't weave in between cars. So you literally have to go all the way down, around, all the way back, I was so confused where I was.

00:07:41 - 00:07:55 | Speaker 3:

So we were there. So I quick, after we took all the pictures, I'm like, I'm going to do my Irish goodbye and get out of here. I said goodbye to everybody twice because they all got in their cars and left. Andrea, what's up? It's Mojo in the morning. Hi.

00:07:56 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 5:

Good morning, guys. Love you. Good morning. Love you. Love you, too.

00:08:01 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 3:

What's up?

00:08:02 - 00:08:05 | Speaker 5:

Not a first time, but a long time. Thank you.

00:08:05 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 3:

Oh, we love you. Thank you for that.

00:08:08 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 5:

So we were at Disney, and we had lost our car there. Oh, gee. and so funny story we get there and you know you're in a parking like i don't know they give

00:08:20 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 3:

you like animal kingdom or whatever yeah it's goofy land or whatever they name it after whatever the characters or animals like an animal kingdom yeah yeah so we're like oh we'll remember that

00:08:31 - 00:09:10 | Speaker 5:

no problem get on the tram we get in there we have a great day riding rides and we're in one the rides where you're just kind of like sitting in the car but you're going along it like glows in the dark things like that and there was this straw hat that was sitting like someone had lost their hat my brother grabs it i'm like you're gonna get life that's gross cooties sick okay so we go to the car we put the straw hat in the back window we're eating lunch go back inside Well, we lose our car. We get on the tram. It's, like, dark, pitch black, parts closing. And they're like, you got to get off the tram. Like, we can't go around.

00:09:10 - 00:09:11 | Speaker 3:

You're on so long.

00:09:11 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 5:

The tram ride is over. We're like, oh, crap. So walking along the parking lot, the only thing that we have going for us is this straw hat because everyone had a white rental car with an Enterprise sticker on it.

00:09:26 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 3:

It's so true. Yeah, and it's so funny. When you go to Disney World in Florida, you all rent the same car. It's the same exact car that you're renting out of the deal. Chris, what's going on? It's Mojo in the morning. Hi. Hey, Chris.

00:09:43 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 4:

Hey, hey, hey. Yeah, so I'm listening to you guys. I'm dying, thinking, oh, my God, it's not just me. Parking garage, where I look, Beaumont is like the Bermuda Triangle. Yes. I'm not even kidding. I have dropped a pin. I have taken a picture of all the signs of where I'm at.

00:10:00 - 00:10:14 | Speaker 1:

And you can't get out. Honest to God, all the arrows go the wrong way. Before you know it, you're on the top. You're like, I didn't park on the top. And when I tell my friends I got to go for a test at Aurora, they're like, yeah, okay, well, good luck with that. See you tomorrow.

00:10:15 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 7:

I love that it's the Bermuda Triangle. What a great analogy. What's up, Christina?

00:10:21 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 3:

Good morning. Good morning.

00:10:23 - 00:10:23 | Speaker 7:

What's happening?

00:10:23 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 3:

So I used to live in Kansas City, and my really good friend went to this downtown area that's kind of like Campus Martius. Everything's outside. And there was a big soccer game party because the Livestrong Center, you know, the Sporting KC team plays there. And he parked his car and went in and was partying it up and all that jazz. And then he had to get picked up because he couldn't drive. And when he went back to get it the next day, he couldn't find it.

00:10:47 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 7:

Oh, no.

00:10:47 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 3:

So he filed a police report. The insurance claim went through and everything. And then he found it like two weeks later after everything was paid off.

00:10:55 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 7:

Oh, my God. A police report for the missing car. It's craziness.

00:11:02 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my God. It was so funny. And he did the honest thing. He called the insurance company back and was like, dude, I feel like a moron, but I found my car.

00:11:09 - 00:11:37 | Speaker 7:

There's nothing worse. To me, and Steve, by the way, is very much, he does not like to be embarrassed. Like, he's very macho. He's a macho guy. Kind of got his, like, man card thing taken away from him a little bit when I'm standing out in front going, I will never hire this Uber ever again. He's like, we were just stuck in the garage. There was a lot of people in the garage. You do feel the pressure, though. You're walking around like, oh, my God. Oh, yeah. I can't find my car. He's done. Start panicking.

00:11:37 - 00:12:06 | Speaker 6:

See beads of sweat on that little bald head of his. Step into the world of power, loyalty, and luck. I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse. With family, cannolis, and spins mean everything. 00:12:48 - 00:13:33 | Speaker 5:

My name is Patrick Pettway, and I am getting my Associates of Science and General Education with an emphasis in business administration. To me, it was a no-brainer. When you go out here and you're looking for funding to go back to college as a 40-year-old man, I got six people in my household. The extra money just doesn't just grow out of trees. For me to be able to be accepted through FAFSA and to have Bishop State pay for all of my tuition, Not only that, but the curriculums, you know, they make it so easy to understand on their website. Like I said, I'm a 40-year-old man, so I don't use technology too much, but it was very understandable where I needed to go. It was extremely fast. These past two years, things have just moved in a total different type of way. It's like its own moving entity to see things manifest the way that they do.
