Graduation parties. Do you have all the cards ready? I remember that summer when I graduated, And my mom, we just, like, lined up cards on the kitchen counter.

And we got to go. Man, so I think that we're up to right now 30, maybe, graduations. Oh, wow. Yeah, so I think we got to go to 30 graduations. You don't like going to them, though? I think they're fun. And you know what? They are fun, but it becomes a little bit of a task to realize that you got to sometimes go to three to four in one day. And you feel like a jerk if there's, like, one particular one you want to hang out more at. And, you know, you hope that you can. But then the problem is you can't because then you look like you're not hanging out. It's tough because they're all Luke's friends. So Luke goes to a pretty small school. Like, there's not a huge graduating class. It's, like, over 100 and some but under 200. And all the kids are really close. And Luke's been going to school with many of these kids since kindergarten. and those are the kids that you kind of like try to play favorites to because you've known them for longer. But then you also got like your friends, like the dads are friends of yours and stuff that you go to.

Is Luke having a party?

So this is an interesting thing. I'm going to bring this up because I thought that this was, you know, kind of an interesting little development. Do you remember how Joe threw like the party of parties? Yes. Chelsea and I were going through pictures of that the other day. It was so weird to like see pictures. Like Shannon, I see a picture of you.

I had a brand new baby. I had just had Lucy like a couple weeks before

It was wild to see like all the people from the show That came out It was wild to see like friends of yours That you haven't seen in forever And all of a sudden you like go who is that And you're like oh my god look at that person But it's really wild to see this You know to see what's going on Actually one of the wildest ones was My buddy Will who I've talked about on the show Remember he told that story Do you know that Will used to date Candice our old babysitter Before he married Jessica Who is his wife right now And so Chelsea found a picture of Candace and Will together, and Will looks exactly the same. Like, it's wild. He hasn't aged at all. All the guys do. It looks exactly the same. Yeah. So here's what Luke decided. Luke said he did not want to have a graduation party unless we wouldn't take him up on this offer. He wanted to know how much money it cost to throw Joe's party And he wanted that monetary amount in a savings account for him

So Jacob did not want it. Jacob did not want a grad party, and what he wanted was he wanted to be able to go start college and have money to go to college with, which honestly, you have a grad party, you get money, because you get friends and family writing you checks for things, right? You just want him to have a party. No, I really didn't want a party, like crazy party. You know what, those tiny sandwiches, they're delicious. Mike, you know what we do at our parties, all the Notre Dame prep people? They all will go and find the restaurant in the area that is the really good restaurant. The hardest thing is the school is kind of close to the Clarkston Union. So whoever has the party nearest in date-wise usually is the one that gets the first dibs on the Clarkston Union mac and cheese. So you usually find Or like what we did for Joe Joe was going to Chicago for school He was going to Columbia College Chelsea did all Chicago type food So she did like Portillo's She did you know like deep dish Giordano's pizza Hot dogs, Chicago style hot dogs Remember the Chicago style hot dog place

You had a food truck

He had a place I think And I think it might still be there But it was right by Somerset That the guy had it But it was kind of a cool But I agree with you, Mike. Food at parties, at grad parties, is the only reason why you go to a grad party. I don't know if it's all the same shredded chicken, but it's delicious. It's all the same.

There is something about going to a grad party, and it's in the backyard, and they've got the tent up. That was me. They've got food going. I go right to the food table. As soon as I go to the grad party, I walk in. Do you look at the poster board? I do. You've got to look at the poster boards. You do. I look at the poster boards from the years. Actually, some of the parties that I've gone to over the years, these moms, because you know it's no dad doing this stuff. These moms will put together the most amazing displays of their kids over the years. Like the kids' letters from school and their letterman's jackets and pictures from them when they were little kids. I always like to see what they look like as little kids. And then they do videos Chelsea did a video And I wonder if Chelsea's doing a video for Luke I have not asked her But she did a video for Joe And then she did a montage thing for Jacob That literally made me sob With music attached to it and stuff What's up, Shelly?

Hi I was just listening to you About Luke maybe taking the money Instead of the graduation open house I actually begged my daughter to do that because my son's open house was so much work getting the house ready, the yard ready, and everything leading up to it. I said, I will give you the equivalent of the money if you do not choose to have one. And she was, heck, yeah, she took it.

It was so overwhelming to me. I was like, no.

You're right. You know what a graduation party entails? It entails you finally doing that thing to your house that you planned that you were going to do 10 years ago that you have to, you know, redoing a landscaping piece or painting something or because you're going to have people, like you said, come into your house.

Right. Well, my son's was the year prior that graduated a year apart. So, I mean, I had just gone through it the year previously and I thought, no, I'm not doing this again. It is so much work. and then we just sent out her her cards but we still sent out cards and said um my daughter has opted to take the finances of a open house instead but she this is what she plans to do and people

still send her cards with money so it was oh my god i don't think she doubled we didn't plan on that but that's great i gotta hit up family members for the money yep i literally said you

know um she still plans on using her own funds to go to college and and if you choose to send anything what i mean it was very polite it was not really asking for it but i was just saying thank you in regards to blah blah blah i need to i need to do that my relatives would have been

pissed that i didn't have a free keg they would have been like i want to party i'm not giving you

money unless you give me booze um yeah we had a water slide we had all kinds of stuff we have a big hill on the side of our house we had a water slide we had all kinds of stuff for my son they were all like the soap the dish soap and the water oh yes my grass was ruined my whole side

what kind of food did you serve because mike wants to know if you had the mini sandwiches

uh no we did not we did more of kind of like a grilling thing and almost like a barbecue type thing really taco bar we had a taco bar and a barbecue Thank you.

crazy i went with their older brother with the graduation party that the others decided to take money because for my older son i decided it was a great idea to change the color of my brick and I hand-painted my whole house with a paintbrush by myself.

in lieu of an in-person party you could always do a virtual like Facebook event and attach a

memo or a cash app I can't do that I appreciate I appreciate the advice I'm so virtualed out with stuff I am so done with that thing I just to me that was great during COVID you know Jacob graduated from college during COVID and it was so depressing to us that we never got to see him walk and get his diploma. They didn't even, they did a virtual one where they just taped his name being sat up on the podium. And honestly, I appreciate that, but I think that Luke's going to be fine. We'll give him what we give him and stuff like that. I think he'll be okay with it.

I'll tell you what, you come over, Mike, you tell me when you want to. It can be sometime this summer. We'll celebrate luke being a grad and i will buy you tiny sandwiches yeah or i'll go to all those open

houses or graduation parties you can come with me actually i would love to i will i love graduation

party food so when joe and jacob graduated there were so many grad parties one time chelsea and i had to tag team them because there were so many of them and i would show up at the grad parties getting all excited like hey i'm showing up at the grad parties people were disappointed that chelsea wasn't there they were like sad that they got me and then they didn't get uh get chelsea for that. I saw something on Facebook that I thought was ridiculous, and I'm going to get into the War of the Roses after I tell you this. I saw a mom put on her Facebook, one of my Facebook friends, put on invites for her kindergartner's graduation party.

Oh, they threw a party.

They have kindergarten graduation and they're doing a grad party for their kindergartner. I would do something.

I would rather go to that. There's probably a bounce house.

I, you know, next week I'm taking a half day Megan's meganosis because she's filling in for me to go to Smith's preschool graduation.
