mojo in the morning you're a doo-doo hat let's go mojo in the morning show so i got an email that made my butt pucker i mean it was one of those whenever the whenever these things come through to me i always have to like double check everything and then i have to call up misfit victor and ask him if this is legit like i always have to check him out as he's like my fact checker for this thing he's my snopes on this i got an email that was addressed to me and my legal name and the email was addressed thomas and my my last name isn't this your card and it showed a number up at the top which was a credit card which was a credit card number and then the email goes on to say and i actually sent this to all you guys i'm looking at it right now in our group chat if you guys want to see it there it says um let's get straight to the point let's get straight to the point oh my butt holes you don't know anything about me however i know everything about you and you must be wondering why you are getting this email right i actually installed a malware on porn websites and guess what you've accessed it uh accessed it yeah okay

now will you read it for me sorry i know i love you draena yeah um and um wait this is can i read

this website and uh have get my drift um been doing some things on there and then it talks about how they did this remote control thing where they have like a key logger which allows them to access my camera and basically what they're trying to say is that they have caught me doing dirty things to myself, buttering the corn and they've got video of this and they go on to say that they videotaped this and they said it's a double screen videotape and they said that if i don't pay them 800 and they have a qr code at the bottom and some number at the bottom not a qr code yeah no they you have to pay them in bitcoin they want what they're saying yeah they want me to pay them if i don't pay them that they are going to release video to my family Okay.

friends and i think they even say something about like uh churchgoing people or something i don't

know it was something did you say what the video is of specifically the video is now i'm reading the video i believe is of me no it says so it's a double screen videotape first half god it's so dang small first half displays the video you were viewing other half displays you

pleasuring yourself as you're watching the video to be fair sometimes i would be more embarrassed if people knew what I was watching than the video of me and myself. It's not illegal, it's frowned upon, like masturbating on an airplane. You have one day to transfer this amount. As soon as it's over, you're like, why? Why was that the video?

That would be my entire Netflix history. So this came to my email.

So this is the funniest part, is it starts off with digits of an Amex card and I was like, oh my god, I think that might be mine. And then I went and looked at my credit card and realize it's not my number so that's why i'm obviously okay but my question is and i and i throw this out there and this is the the part that is interesting because this is kind of like hey your kids got uh you know are right now you know how the people call grandmas and say your grandchildren right now are in a foreign country and they're in jail and you need to send them money you know what i mean this is now where it's gotten to and i want to know if there are any people that have ever fallen for scams like this have you ever fallen for any of these scams 844-MOJO-LIVE 844-665-6548 or text 95500

Didn't you see the estimate of what they think people pay each year in these scams? No. And it's an estimate because so many people are embarrassed they don't report it afterwards and they think it's like a $50 billion a year industry.

I think I worked for a scam agency before. For real. When I was younger I used to work at this place called Insight in Southfield and it was a whole floor of like high school kids, either kids that were in high school or kids that just got out. And we were all on headsets. We had a script. And I feel like we targeted old people and used to sell them like, I don't know, told them like the money was going to like cancer research or something like that. But now looking back, it didn't feel legit at all. Is that still around? I don't know.

Because you just pretty much called them out and said let's do the Googles as you say.

If it's legit, it's legit. If it ain't, then it ain't.

I'm just saying my experience. I got to be honest with you. When I got this email at first, I literally was like, oh, my God, this is crazy. Because I ain't going to lie. I occasionally watched a little bit of porn. And I think that this has gotten me to a point now where I think I'm giving porn up. This is going to be like a new Lent for me. Oh, wow. I'm going to give it up because could this be possible that somebody is able to do this?

Would you be more concerned about people seeing what you were watching or what you were doing while you were watching?

Both. I always, honestly, I know some people that actually say that they pleasure themselves looking in a mirror.

it and i'm the type of person where it's like i didn't do it at that time but i was like did i You know, but, you know, obviously as I got older, honestly, I'd probably be watching me like that would make me more uncomfortable.

Hi. So I had this male friend of mine who was on Tinder and matched with this girl who then convinced him to add her on Snapchat. and then they started getting a little frisky with the pictures and he sent her a D-Pick to which she screenshotted it and threatened to send it to his friends and family, his employer, if he did not pay this person Bitcoin.

So wait, but it was legit.

So that was real life, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So it ended up being like this scam happens. It's actually really sad because these are the stories that you hear with younger kids, especially younger males. They're so embarrassed and end up doing terrible things because they're so embarrassed about it. He didn't end up doing it because this person probably does this to 100 people a day and probably 10 people fall for it, which is a lot of money.

Well, that's what I'm thinking with this email that's going out. I mean, you know, I wonder how many people have done it. They probably have made some money. You're right, though, on these younger kids that have that happen to them. You hear stories about them committing suicide, which is so sad that there are these scammers out there that will prey on people like that. Kristen, we're talking about falling for these scams. What's going on?

So I work at a bank, and we see this all the time. But the one that sticks with me the most is we had this, like, 70, 75-year-old lady. She literally spent, like, $50,000 on this guy. She thought she was dating him. He was probably, like, in his 20s. She had, like, a picture of him and everything.

So, Kristen, I know that you said that you work in a bank, and I know that Mojo and Kev have still not watched the documentary I sent to them on this. But there was a guy who actually had his entire bank closed down because he gambled the bank's money on one of these scams. And so he had an entire bank shut down over falling for a scam. So just because you work there, whatever, like everybody falls for this stuff.

That's wild.

They do. And it's so sad. You know, when you try to tell them that it's not like that it's not real and it's a scam, but sometimes they don't care.

They just send all their money. Like, that's a lot of money. $50,000. Oh my God. Yeah, that's your

Hi, I actually had a call from Macomb County Jail and it was my sister's voice and she said she needed money to be bailed out, but I ended up calling back to the jail to see what her charges were and she wasn't even an inmate. Okay, so we

talked about this in trending news very recently about how AI now is able to spoof people's voices and I mean, that That would, I feel like that would trip me up if I heard my sister's voice on the other end of a call. You know what I mean? That one's really scary to me.

That one was, it was very scary. So I'm glad that I decided to call back, but it sounded completely real. Like she was crying. She was really upset. And I was just like, what are you talking about? And I had to, you know, accept it was a collect call that came through, like how it typically does from the jail. So it was just very wild.

man uh camilla's mom fell for a scam one of those overseas scams right yeah and did she give some

money to these people a lot how much um well probably the first year over 5 000 and at this point we're almost five years in oh geez and what was the scam so this guy is pretending well we I don't know if it's a guy, because the person that she sends money to is a female name on PayPal. But this person pretends to be her boyfriend and says that he's overseas in the military and needs money for mission support, and she sends it.

Yeah, man. Yeah, they prey on single, you know, women who are either divorced or widows, and they try to get them to give up all of their life savings by claiming to be some foreign, good-looking dude, you know? Yeah. And nine out of ten times, you're right, it's probably somebody that doesn't even look like what you think that it is, you know? Honestly, I hear the stories all the time that a lot of times it's, you know, it's a bunch of younger 20-somethings that are just good with computers.

It's high school Kev. I'm telling you, John Oliver did this thing on pig butchering, and that's what they call it, or pig slaughtering, is the name of the scam. And most of the time, the people that are doing the scamming are in their own traffic rings, and they're victims, too. It is wild how deep this goes.
