have you guys here with us it was a wild weekend a little roller coaster family weekend for me and i know uh that many of you guys have probably experienced this in your life but uh it was prom and graduation weekend for our youngest son luke what a busy weekend oh my god megan huge things huge and by the way the prom pictures thing chelsea was so worried that we were going to show up late because remember we did not know luke's date like we had no idea who she was and we didn't want to look like the the bad parents that i've been going on the air all week saying i don't even know who he's taking to prom and uh then you know show up late to it so we ended up showing up uh like 30 minutes early for prom pictures because they did it in a park in in Clarkston and then by the way uh what a what a really nice girl and like yeah stunningly beautiful beautiful so so uh her name is Evelyn and um she was really sweet and I asked I said hey can you mind if I post a picture up on and she was like yeah she goes we listen all the time I was like oh that's so cool and uh Luke is you know friends with her his buddy uh Evan is dating Evelyn's best friend so so that was really neat and they both looked uh beautiful actually all the kids looked beautiful it was so wild to see these like grown-up kids you know like you know shaven these days you know um and then on sunday we had graduation and let me just go on record right now i'm gonna i'm gonna dip the music down even though this music is kind of uh kind of slow and Very dramatic I did not cry as much as Chelsea cried I was so happy with myself

And we go on Chelsea The moment that The Notre Dame Prep High School band Started playing this song right here She just welled up And tears just came down her cold hearted face oh Mike I was like that kept me from crying because I was you would think that that would make me cry but when I saw that I was like oh I knew this was going to happen because it was her baby and it was definitely a different feeling

was she an audible crier like could you hear do you think Luke

could hear her from the stage. And I ask this for a very specific reason.

Honestly, no, she's not. She kind of tries, still tries to hide it. But she was a big tear crier, like where there are like such big tears that they could actually make your grass turn from brown to green. Why do you ask that? Why do you ask about the audible?

Because I can still, I can hear it in my brain. My mom's sobbing from the bleachers at the Grosse Seal High School football stadium

where ours was in the football stadium that's that's like you know it has to be allowed yeah

so I thought oh I hope that wasn't gels for Luke's sake no it was so there was a couple of

emotional moments that I had too like I didn't cry so much with Luke I cried when so the principal of our school Kim Anderson her son is Luke's best buddy Jack Anderson and they've been going to school together since pre-k since pre-kindergarten and Kim really made it emotional for me and I think it was emotional obviously for her because it's her baby too but she's also the principal of the school and she's the one that hands the diplomas out so they have like somebody read and then somebody tell you like everything award that they won um and where they're going to college and then they have uh Kim pass the things out and Jack Anderson was one of the first kids up there and they gave each other hugs and I was like oh my god and then and then Luke got up there and he got his he said that is the teacher that was the beginning of the stage told him I will give you five bucks if you moonwalk across the stage and Luke didn't know how to moonwalk but he wanted to try to see if he could do it because he just wanted a five dollar bet but he ended up like raising his hands up in the air and kind of like I did it I did it which was which was really really cool that would have got me right there there was a couple of moments though that were somewhat a little embarrassing and they were uh involved with our family members chelsea's mom is the sweetest lady ever mary chelsea's mom and dad are mary and joe they literally are the parents of jesus is that amazing they're the parents of jesus and the in-laws of mojo but they to be fair i would follow chelsea wherever she goes so i get it Listen, I think that, you know what? I think she might have been born in a barn, too. I don't know. But Chelsea's mom was very vocal for everybody, not just Luke. So you know how there's the parents that go crazy, especially in, Kev, please don't get me wrong on this one here, especially black families. We're not criers. We're screamers. Black families scream so loud that if you're a kid that is behind, you know, like a black girl or a black boy, you're always going to have the, that's my baby! Like they're screaming and yelling and going crazy. Which, by the way, I love the excitement. I love. Well, Chelsea's grandmother, she's not black, but maybe deep down inside she might be. She was that lady. She was screaming for kids we didn't even know these kids. Some of these kids were kids that transferred like a year ago or something to the school.

How many kids graduated?

There was 138 kids. And the funniest one was there was a girl that got announced. And this is how bad Chelsea's mom's hearing sometimes could be. So imagine this. You're there and they go. And next, you know, they do the graduates. So they do like, you know, Shannon Murphy. And then a guy goes, Shannon Murphy is the winner of such and such awards. Cum laude. She'll be going to Butler University. Yeah. And then they go, the next one is Sherelle McGillicuddy. Sherelle McGillicuddy. And you hear Chelsea's mom going, you go Shannon. Okay. Like it's a delay. Oh, sweet. No, it wasn't so much a delay, Mike. I think she misunderstood Sherelle and Shannon. She thought it was two Shannons in a row. So it was kind of like, Mary, that was. So she was kind of, you know, doing her whole thing with that. And, oh, there's a couple of other moments that I wanted to talk about, and I won't talk about it all now, but I'll get to it a little bit later. There was a couple of moments that were just, to me, like really awesome. First off, the valedictorian and the student council president's speeches were so good. The valedictorian speech really meant a lot to me because it was about how it's okay. He was basically like, it's okay to have anxiety and okay to be scared and okay to do it. don't try to think that you can go through life without it you know he was basically trying to get you to do that and then talking about the power of you know prayer basically because it's catholic school and stuff and you know saying simple words like you know jesus be with me and that was it so that was awesome the the high school girl uh that was the president was great because you know i don't know if you know this the class of 2023 and this is for all of you guys that are 2020. right now i hearts out to you guys they were freshmen when covid happened so their spring spring semester of uh 2020 was their freshman year when they were sent home to have to go learn you know crazy from computers and stuff and um so this was their you know the first effect of of these guys you know having to do that and so how different it was that by the time that 2023 happened they finally had you know just what we had you know as far as uh graduating is concerned um but I talked to a couple of parents including Chelsea's mom and I was surprised by this I was surprised at how many people that were parents said that when they were kids graduating from high school their parents didn't go to their high school graduation really I was blown away by that Because I had this thing on my calendar for, you know, over a year because they put out the graduation dates like I think a year and a half in advance at that school.

What was more important than a high school graduation?

Work or they or, you know, whatever it might be like. All of them pretty much said this. Have you have. Is there anybody listening whose parent did not go to their high school graduation? What?

Wow.

My mom didn't.

Oh, your mom. That's right.

My dad did.

And your mom, at that time, because I always thought that your mom was kind of out of the picture by the time that you were a little girl. Your mom started, it was high school when she kind of, that whole thing happened, right?

Yeah. Yeah. But my dad was there. But don't worry. He's listening and I love him very much. Zero photos of my high school graduation. Really? So did it happen? Who knows?

Wait, is it because your dad, he's a dad? He's a normal dad that doesn't take him?

I love my father. I love him so much. Sometimes I think he forgets about stuff like that. And, yeah, there's just absolutely no documentation at all. Yeah, and to be fair, I don't know where my high school diploma is, so I may not have graduated.

You've got to recreate graduation for Megan.

We do, but graduations are bad for me because, remember, I forgot to graduate from college, too. Yes.

So, Kev, you're new to the show, but Megan actually did not. She graduated from UT, from Toledo.

Yeah, but I didn't think I passed, so I never applied for graduation. That is such a great story. Four years after I graduated, because I did pass, is when I actually applied. So I walked four years after I stopped going to school.

So we actually had literally to go on the air and plead that Megan go back and have a graduation to be able to go and do it all over again.

We need to have a graduation party for you.

Here's what we'll do.

Like with the tent and everything.

Yeah, what we'll do is we'll have the graduation from high school all over again. And then we'll even have Chelsea's mom there to say, Mary, congratulations. And Mike, there will be little sandwiches. Yes, tiny sandwiches.

So my dad missed my high school graduation because he was painting his car.

Oh, my God.

Yeah, he said that he was at a point in the process where he could not stop.

You are kidding me, Marissa.

What point is that? No, I'm not kidding. What was that? I said, what point in the painting process would that be? No idea. I know nothing about painting, but he was painting. It was a 72 Chevelle.

That's unbelievable. That's terrible. Yeah, that's. Do you forgive your dad for that? Like, do you have a good relationship with him?

Oh, yeah, we have a really good relationship. But, I mean, it's something that you don't forget. Right.

Yeah, Chels was talking about how her grandfather didn't show at her graduation. And to this day, it was, like, the hardest thing for her to do that. So it was really, really difficult for her that that happened. I felt bad for Luke because Joe didn't come home for the graduation. Like, he had a promotion at Disney this weekend for his work. Jacob was there, which was cool.

I saw that picture of the two of them.

But a high school graduation, I hate to say this, that's all I got. I didn't graduate from college, you know what I mean? Like, I was not somebody that, you know, I started college, but I never went. But that meant something to me. Like, that actually, I still look back at my high school graduation pictures and catch me with something.

I actually think a high school graduation, in many ways, is so much bigger and more important than a college graduation. I don't know, I didn't put as much emphasis. It was a big deal that I graduated from college, that we graduated from college. But high school to me was like the end of an era. Agreed.

Yeah.

And it's kind of like you're going on to adulthood.

You're starting your life. Yeah. Your big girl, big boy life.

Listen, Luke had his all-night party last night. He didn't come home last night.

I'm like freaking out. You know what I mean?
