Mojo in the morning. I got busted. I was trying to keep it out of the picture frame, but KP posted something up on our social and you could see my Starbucks cup in front of me. And Chelsea saw it. You always get Starbucks. Ah, I know, but today was supposed to be my day where I was turning things around because I am on an allowance right now. I was put on an allowance by my lovely bride, my lovely wife, Chelsea, who told me that I've been spending too much money lately. And she's like, you got to stop this. Like, it's getting out of control. And she said, let's go through, like, what you're spending money on. And the last, like, few weeks have been crazy. you know we've been in and out of promotions and out of town and we had you know stuff going on and then you know you you you throw you know money in you know for you know partying and drinking and all the rest of that stuff well then she says but that's not the point of what you're spending on because you've been spending this way for a while she goes what do you do every single day that you know they do something you can get out and i go i don't know i go to starbucks every day and she's like well let's go look and i went and looked at my app i had been spending ten dollars and 81 cents a day at starbucks buying a coffee and a uh uh egg bites but you don't just get a coffee you get the i get the big trenta yeah but it lasts me through the whole show and honestly it keeps me from eating uh my face off yeah because it kind of keeps me like from not being hungry you know what i mean yeah that is a lot of money when you add it all up but so i so i went through with her like a uh like a thing and i don't know if uh this is gonna make me look bad but uh to the listeners that i've got no control over my my household finances that i i'm spending 54 dollars and five cents a week times four that's 216 dollars and 20 cents a month that i'm spending

00:04:28 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 3:

yeah i did i put myself on that starbucks uh budget like two three years ago you guys always say i bring in my little cheap k cups and make my own coffee because i realized every it was ten dollars every every workday which i added up to be twenty four hundred dollars a year oh my god i didn't even think about it a year i didn't even so when people ask like i i try and take my kids on a vacation every summer and people like wow oh wow you went to iceland

00:05:00 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 1:

you go to iceland starbucks 20 you could easily like if you make it a priority think about it you really think about like you budget some things that aren't important to you you could do something

00:05:10 - 00:05:16 | Speaker 3:

that are that is important sometimes starbucks gets me through that day all right so yeah so i

00:05:16 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 2:

just make my own coffee now but what if i die tomorrow i wanted to have my starbucks i won't

00:05:23 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 1:

say i never go there i mean like i i love dunkin donuts so when i'm in a bad mood it'll change

00:05:29 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 2:

They're no longer Dunkin' Donuts. They're now Dunkin'. I know.

00:05:32 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 1:

But it'll change my mood to go and get that drink. So sometimes you've got to treat yourself. But every day I was doing it, and I was getting the egg bites, and I was treating someone at work, and then it adds up all of a sudden.

00:05:46 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:05:46 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 3:

But I need my emotional support drink.

00:05:50 - 00:05:57 | Speaker 2:

So bad. You know what I want to be, though? I want to be the guy that goes and gets the big Coke from Speedway.

00:05:58 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 3:

Oh, that like barely fits in your cup.

00:06:00 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 2:

The one that is so big that if you drank it all at once, it would literally start coming out your wiener.

00:06:07 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 1:

See, but I think that's economical because the medium is 89 cents. The gallon is $1.05. So I just feel like you're just smart in your budget if you just get the large. You can't go medium.

00:06:20 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 2:

This is crazy. I know. Okay, so here's a question I want to throw out there. I want to know, are there any listeners who have ever been an adult on an allowance? Because I'm getting an allowance now. So I said to Chelsea, I go, you've got to help me with this whole thing. Because Apple Pay is the easiest thing in the world. You can just go Apple Pay the whole thing. So she said she gave me an allowance to now go from five days a week down to three days. And then eventually try to do two days a week. So if I do that, I'll save a little bit of money on the deal. You'll save a lot of money. Well, today was supposed to be one of my non-days.

00:06:52 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 1:

Can we as a show pick the two days you're going to do? Because we want you in a good mood on certain days. And if you're going to be in a bad mood without Starbucks, we don't want to be on a day that we have to work here a long day.

00:07:03 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 2:

She picked the non-coffee days because she said that Fridays are always an upbeat day anyway. Anyway. True. So you shouldn't even have to have it.

00:07:09 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 3:

No. No. Fridays are for treats. Fridays are- But there are alcoholic treats right behind him in this studio. Yeah. So instead of- Okay. Just so I'm clear. So pick another day for the Starbucks drinks. But instead of coffee, we're like, well, on Fridays, just start drinking at 8 in the morning. That seems like a bad habit.

00:07:25 - 00:07:30 | Speaker 2:

And it's free because they give it to us, the liquor companies.

00:07:30 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 3:

It doesn't have to be like hard liquor. There's seltzers in there. Wine in there. There's mimosas in there. There's no liquor.

00:07:36 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 2:

That's what I'm going to do.

00:07:36 - 00:07:43 | Speaker 3:

Megan, don't be no fun. I'm going to become an alcoholic because I'm not doing my Starbucks anymore.

00:07:43 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 2:

I need to find my other advice.

00:07:46 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 3:

You should. You're encouraging somebody to regularly drink at 8 in the morning on a Friday. I didn't say 8. It could be 9.30.

00:07:54 - 00:07:57 | Speaker 2:

Does anybody know if cocaine is cheaper? Is it cheaper than Starbucks? Very expensive.

00:07:58 - 00:07:59 | Speaker 1:

Seems like only rich people do cocaine.

00:08:00 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 2:

Still? I don't think so. I think that used to be. I think it used to be. You're just still wearing sweatsuits, too, all the time. Cocaine is for rich people. What's up, Grace? How you doing? Hey, so you can actually connect your Delta SkyMiles account through Starbucks? Yes, I just learned this. You earn miles with every drink, so it justifies the coffee every drink.

00:08:21 - 00:08:25 | Speaker 3:

We sure do. Takes you two seconds to connect them to. How do you do it?

00:08:25 - 00:08:25 | Speaker 2:

Wait, how do you do it?

00:08:25 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 3:

You go to, I can't remember which app I did it through. I think I did it through the Delta app.

00:08:30 - 00:08:32 | Speaker 2:

So it's not on the Starbucks app, it's on the Delta app?

00:08:32 - 00:08:37 | Speaker 1:

Well, you can go to either one, and then it'll have you connect, and then it'll send you to the other one to connect on both.

00:08:38 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 2:

Okay, so, all right, so see this? I could tell Chelsea, this is going to get her an upgrade.

00:08:42 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 1:

Well, I got that text from them like two months ago saying, now I'll get Delta miles. And I thought, oh, they're tricky. They know I cut back on my coffee to travel. So now they're trying to pull me back in and get me to get coffee to travel.

00:08:56 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, so you can go to your Delta app where it says SkyMiles. Go to the bottom, and it's right there.

00:09:01 - 00:09:50 | Speaker 2:

Oh, my God. I love it. Is there any way also I can pay my son's college tuition with this too? Will they figure that out? Oh, my God. This is a great idea. Yeah. 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. Text 95500. I think I was talking specifically to one particular listener this morning who just sent me a text that said, Mojo, oh, my God, you're living my life. My wife just put me on an allowance. I am now only allowed to spend $25 a week on fun. And she packs me my lunch, too. That's actually kind of cute. You really are like a kid when you're doing that. I do pack lunches every day. Like a little child, I have a pack lunch in a brown paper bag.

00:09:50 - 00:09:52 | Speaker 3:

I've been doing it, too.

00:09:52 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

Every single day. It saves money. When I do Ideal You, like I did back in October, I saved so much money doing the Ideal You weight loss program, Mike, because I was.

00:10:00 - 00:10:03 | Speaker 7:

doing that. You weren't doing drive-thrus and door dashing. Jeanette, what's up?

00:10:04 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 4:

Hi, Mojo. Hey,

00:10:06 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 7:

what's happening, Jeanette? I was going to say

00:10:08 - 00:10:11 | Speaker 4:

a long-time listener. First-time caller, a long-time listener. Yeah, yeah.

00:10:12 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 7:

What's going on?

00:10:13 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 4:

I do the Seaway big drink every day. The big

00:10:17 - 00:10:24 | Speaker 7:

drink? The one I was telling you about, that if you drank the whole thing in one sitting, you'd die? Yep. And what do you put in there?

00:10:25 - 00:10:26 | Speaker 4:

Well, I drink iced tea.

00:10:27 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 7:

So you got an iced tea in that sucker, huh?

00:10:29 - 00:10:30 | Speaker 4:

Yep, every day.

00:10:30 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 7:

Do you ever eat their cheese and sausage burrito, too?

00:10:35 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 4:

Nope, I don't do that. They're usually closed in the morning when I pass by.

00:10:38 - 00:10:40 | Speaker 7:

Oh, really? So you do it in the afternoon then, huh?

00:10:41 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 4:

I do it in the afternoon.

00:10:42 - 00:10:48 | Speaker 1:

You've got to be careful. Because while you're on your way to diabetes with the seven-gallon iced tea, we want you to worry about your sodium levels at the same time.

00:10:50 - 00:10:52 | Speaker 5:

Don't laugh at that. No, don't laugh at that.

00:10:53 - 00:11:29 | Speaker 7:

Do you remember Rebecca Falk we used to work with? Rebecca Falk was our marketing director. She would do I think A McDonald's diet coke Like a couple of three of those a day And she was Very good about her diet except for that That was the only thing that she would drink And I would tell her I would be like All that carbonation And all that stuff in there And she's like I gotta have it Otherwise I can't deal with being at work So I don't know I need another vice I need something that's cheaper Like, can I just have ice water or something like that?

00:11:29 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 1:

You know, my other vice was I really had to put myself in time out and give myself a budget. When my daughter announced she was going to grad school, I had to slow down on my Costco visits. Because I would go to Costco every week, and I had no reason to go. I just went, and I would justify it as I'm getting steps because I walk up and down every single aisle. But I'd spend $200 every week that I had no plans on.

00:11:54 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 7:

Do you ever find yourself just buying stuff that you never in a million years needed, right?

00:12:00 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 1:

I never went in for something specific. I just came out with a lot of things that I had.

00:12:04 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 4:

It makes you so happy.

00:12:06 - 00:12:12 | Speaker 7:

What's the stupidest, goofiest thing that you ever purchased there that you're like, why the hell did I do this? A hundred pieces of salami.

00:12:13 - 00:12:28 | Speaker 1:

I bought a gallon of agave syrup because I read the thing and I was like, oh, it's healthy sweetener. It's better than using sugar. I'm going to use agave syrup. I haven't opened it yet. It's been like three months in my cupboard. I didn't even know what agave. It's from a cactus, isn't it?

00:12:28 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 7:

I don't know what it is. My neighbor is like you. He goes to Costco all the time, and he bought a pergola.

00:12:34 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 4:

A pergola? Yeah, I'm like, really?

00:12:36 - 00:12:40 | Speaker 7:

Is that the umbrella thing? No, it's like an awning type thing that you put.

00:12:40 - 00:12:45 | Speaker 4:

Like the wooden thing for your back, like your deck. Somebody doesn't watch HGTV because they put a pergola at everyone else.

00:12:47 - 00:12:51 | Speaker 5:

With little lights. Fixer Upper loves a good pergola.

00:12:53 - 00:12:53 | Speaker 7:

What's up, Sam?

00:12:54 - 00:13:16 | Speaker 3:

hey so i have a suggestion for you mojo this is what i do to not buy starbucks every day i buy the jugs of like already made starbucks like at kroger and then you buy your own creamer and you buy those like tarani syrups or tarini whatever they're called those syrups yeah it's like make the ice coffee like you know can i can somebody steal me can somebody steal me cups though

00:13:16 - 00:13:22 | Speaker 7:

i want them in their cups or do i have to keep on washing one of their cups i i get like reusable

00:13:22 - 00:13:26 | Speaker 3:

cups like with the straws and everything like reusable straws and lids and all that what will

00:13:26 - 00:13:30 | Speaker 7:

they charge me if i just go through the drive-thru asking for just an empty cup can you give me one

00:13:30 - 00:13:50 | Speaker 5:

of those what's up hannah hi good morning hi hey what's going on i just wanted to say i crunched the numbers and i'm spending around a grand a year on energy drinks you should you should i don't want to you get one every morning don't you i do first of all dr franklin is listening

00:13:50 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 1:

and I absolutely do not have multiple energy drinks every morning.

00:13:58 - 00:14:02 | Speaker 5:

I would never do that because my teeth are important, but I don't want to know.

00:14:02 - 00:14:03 | Speaker 7:

What's that, Hannah?

00:14:04 - 00:14:09 | Speaker 5:

I was going to say, it's like the same amount that people spend on their Starbucks, so that's why I look at it as not that bad.

00:14:09 - 00:14:10 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, it's not that bad.

00:14:10 - 00:14:13 | Speaker 5:

But it's way worse for us, and we will die early.

00:14:13 - 00:14:22 | Speaker 7:

Hannah, don't worry about it. I used to spend over $1,000 a year in Slim Jims. It was kind of a bad habit for me for a while, too. All right. Thank you for the call.

00:14:22 - 00:14:34 | Speaker 6:
