All right, it is Mojo in the morning. Chelsea and I were supposed to go and have dinner with some friends, and she just told me that our friends canceled on us, that they are not going to be able to get together for dinner. And I wanted to ask this question, and here it is. How long should you mourn the loss of your dog? Here's the situation, the circumstance. so our friends canceled on us because their dog died a month ago and they're still having a hard time with it a month later and it's gotten to a point where they're using and i don't know if maybe they're just using this as an excuse because they don't want to go which by the way pulling out the dead dog is is a good excuse sometimes you know you sometimes you kill off people uh grandparents and stuff like that but this is a legit this family has been mourning this dog for a month right now and i may sound crass been saying this but i don't love my dogs

00:02:33 - 00:02:55 | Speaker 6:

that much i think i i would still be god and god love my charlie he's 15 years old every time i walk through the door when i come home from the station i have to make sure that he's still breathing i think i would still be mourning him i i will i would i will mourn him for years but not to the point where i'm i'm canceling a dinner a month i think they don't want to go out to dinner

00:02:55 - 00:03:13 | Speaker 4:

with you no and no offense to to because when we lost lily lily was our sweet dog lily was part of the family yeah but lily you know caused us to cause chelsea more so uh and the kids to grieve for at least a week or a couple of weeks.

00:03:13 - 00:03:13 | Speaker 6:

Right.

00:03:14 - 00:03:25 | Speaker 4:

But it didn't make them incapacitated where they couldn't, you know, I think the kids didn't go to school for like maybe a day or two, but it wasn't one of those things where it's like all of a sudden we're canceling month plans.

00:03:25 - 00:03:25 | Speaker 5:

Yeah.

00:03:26 - 00:03:49 | Speaker 4:

Now, but I could see, and I, listen, I know there are people that liked it, like Angel from our sales department. I mean, Angel was literally, you know, not coming out of her house when she lost her dog. So I get where it's tough, but a month later, 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. Have you ever seen the movie Marley and Me?

00:03:49 - 00:04:01 | Speaker 6:

Oh, I saw it one time in the movie theater, and I heavy sobbed into my coat so loud, I could never watch that movie again. Never. I've never seen it. That's that Owen Wilson movie? I could never watch it again.

00:04:01 - 00:04:28 | Speaker 4:

Marley and Me. Yeah, I'm not for that. Kevin, let me say something to you. That was how I was with Luz and Lily. Henry and Louie, I wouldn't cry probably at all. I'd probably look at my freedom. You say you go to dinner that night. In honor of that. I'm going to raise a glass to those guys. Why is it terrible? I'd give them a good life. I'm not killing them.

00:04:28 - 00:04:31 | Speaker 5:

I still cry over my cat that died 11 years ago.

00:04:31 - 00:04:32 | Speaker 4:

Really?

00:04:32 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 5:

But you're not canceling plans because of it. No, I'm not. No, I'm not. but to be like, I can't wait, is a wild take from an active pet owner.

00:04:40 - 00:04:42 | Speaker 4:

They've lived a great life.

00:04:42 - 00:04:46 | Speaker 5:

My cat lived 21 years, and I would do anything to get another day with her.

00:04:46 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 4:

Your cat wanted to die. What's up, Marie? How you doing? What's going on, Marie?

00:04:51 - 00:04:53 | Speaker 1:

Good, how are you?

00:04:53 - 00:04:55 | Speaker 4:

Good. How long should you mourn your mutt?

00:04:57 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 1:

I mean, there's a difference between mourning it and...

00:05:00 - 00:05:12 | Speaker 5:

and then crawling under a rock and staying home. Yeah. You can grieve, you know, you can grieve your pet. I mean, my friend's pet just died a couple days ago, and they're on a cruise today. Oh, wow. Oh.

00:05:14 - 00:05:14 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:05:15 - 00:05:17 | Speaker 5:

They didn't want to pay to board that dog.

00:05:19 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 1:

Megan's at a point. Marie, thank you. What's up, Bree?

00:05:24 - 00:05:57 | Speaker 4:

Hi. So I kind of feel the same way. I don't like admitting it all the time, But, like, I'm not super, like, a crazy dog person. So, like, if my family loses a pet, I'm kind of moving on, whatever. And we've gone through that in my family, and I'm way less emotional than everyone else. But I also think that people have different tolerance levels for things and things hurt people differently. So if that's really your friend, I think I would say, oh, my God, I'm so sorry that you're still dealing with that and that's still so hard for you. I can come over tonight. We can switch up our plans.

00:05:57 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 1:

you know i want to be i'm not going over to their house now there ain't no way there ain't no way

00:06:04 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 4:

because literally it's also it's also it's a double-edged sword because i think that's also a good way to tell if they're using the for sure wow and i don't care if they are you want your

00:06:15 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 1:

friends to support you if if they're using that as an excuse that's on them but i just i truly think i think that they're this is one of those things we we ended up giving them one of those the is the rainbow bridge we got him one of those rainbow bridge things what is that oh yeah chelsea uh got it as a gift when lily died so we give it to a lot of our friends when they lose their dogs uh what's going on how you doing katie do you also tell them that their dogs wanted to die their dogs aren't 21 years old 21 years to a cat megan is like that cat was nice that cat was betty white that cat was 99 years old what's going on i'm sorry katie that's okay um i wanted to say

00:06:57 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 5:

i completely understand i'm actually driving in the car with my dog right now um i lost the dog that i had for like 12 years and it was extremely hard but i wanted to say i think if they really truly are struggling that in order for you to be the best friend that you can be you have to kind of pull them out of their house um because if they've like fallen into that depression where they're not leaving and stuff it's not going to get better until they can get out of the house

00:07:22 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 1:

yeah you know what i mean well i'm not going to force them i just i'm asking this question just because of i i do feel bad for him but i guess i didn't understand like chelsea's more understanding than i am she's like no i get it i totally get it but a month uh ella what's up hey guys um i

00:07:41 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 3:

would relate for them not wanting to go. My dog almost died on, like, Valentine's Day weekend, and I was destroyed. Like, I mean, she's alive. She made it through, that little stinker. We've been together almost 12 years, but I was so devastated. How did she almost die? What happened? The little stinker ate something, and I don't know what, because I never found it in her poop. I dog and dog couldn't find it. I mean, I just went through a breakup and I just got laid off this week and my great aunt died that same week. And you know what? The dog would have been the one that would have destroyed me.

00:08:20 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 1:

Oh, absolutely.

00:08:21 - 00:08:46 | Speaker 2:

And the crazy part is like, these are, these are things that are excited to spend time with you that you live with for 10 years. And then to be like, get it together and leave the house. Like I get it. I want to go home. I'm not, I'm not the best version of myself right now. I'm sad. I wouldn't want to hang out with me either. I don't even know if it's so much that I would be, like, crying in public, but I just know I wouldn't be fun to be around.

00:08:46 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 1:

Says the woman who gave her dog to her brother when she moved to Detroit.

00:08:51 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, and it's funny because I'm actually going to pick her up today. She's staying with me for the next couple of weeks.

00:08:57 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 1:

You gave your dog up for adoption.

00:08:58 - 00:09:23 | Speaker 2:

No, I think, and I think a lot of people have said, I think the term is soul dogs. sometimes you like mojo you with lily you have a dog that is the perfect dog for you right yeah that my brother and that dog are they're like soul people i don't know what they use to describe it like it they are meant for each other they are best friends it was mean to take the dog from him

00:09:23 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 1:

you know what i mean can i give luke to somebody like is there anybody especially with his bills right now find his soul a soul kid that actually that is interesting though i could see that where you know you and your brother are so close and you move out of town and it makes me incredibly sad

00:09:42 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 2:

i'm so grateful that she goes back and forth and i get her for a couple of weeks at a time and then she goes back to stay with him or whatever like i am so grateful that we live close enough to make that actually happen but i mean i've talked to shannon about this i really want to get another dog like I I miss having a dog around I miss having a companion i got but it truly did it felt i got three it felt way too mean to take her right

00:10:08 - 00:10:14 | Speaker 3:

god shannon i'm telling you i don't know how you but first off how do you leave town if you ever

00:10:14 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 2:

go on vacation all three go to different places willow wes's dog goes with his ex-wife charlie goes with my dad because that is his they are souls. Soul dog. That's his soul dog. And then Bo, whomever will take them. I pray for them and I drop them off.
