Mojo in the morning. Kev, how's Josiah doing? Is he doing good?

00:02:05 - 00:02:09 | Speaker 6:

Joe's amazing. He should be on his way to camp having a great time.

00:02:09 - 00:02:11 | Speaker 5:

Oh, it's like summer camp stuff?

00:02:11 - 00:02:36 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, it's one of those camps, though. He dreaded having to go to this camp, partially because he wanted to spend more time with me because we're doing one week on, one week off, and now, you know, with this job, I can't take him, so I'm spending less time with him. But the other half is that he enjoyed spending his nights up on roadblocks talking to his friends and stand up till 5 a.m. and his camp is like 9 to 5. Oh, so it's a day camp. It's not a sleepover. Yeah, it's a holiday day.

00:02:36 - 00:02:52 | Speaker 5:

When you have Josiah for the summertime, do you always feel like you have to like make every day like a field trip when you're a kid? Because I remember when the kids were off for the summer, Chelsea didn't want them just sitting around doing things. So I would take them to games or we'd go to movies or do things like that. Are you doing any stuff like that?

00:02:52 - 00:02:56 | Speaker 6:

For sure. I mean, we went kayaking of all things. I saw the pictures.

00:02:57 - 00:02:58 | Speaker 5:

I saw those pictures.

00:02:58 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 6:

That was a good time. That's something I've never done, something he's never done.

00:03:01 - 00:03:04 | Speaker 5:

Didn't you just take him to a show, too, like a Broadway show or something?

00:03:04 - 00:03:54 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, we took him to the Fresher Theater to see The Wiz. And I thought it was going to be, like, this moment of, like, Joe liked Wicked. I'm like, okay, let's show him kind of what started it all. And, you know, The Wiz is, like, it's the cooler version of The Wizard of Oz. You know what I'm saying? It's got some hip-hop in there. It's the old Michael Jackson vibe. Move on down. You feel me? And then when I was in high school, the whole thing. So I take Joe. I'm thinking this is going to be something we can share and experience, and he's going to have fun. he slept through the whole damn thing. Oh, no. I'm like, this is the biggest waste of money of my whole life. You get good seats. You ride on the end. We're going to have this amazing time. It's the Wiz. And he literally is doing this before they even start. And you try to wake up your child. You know what I'm saying? Like, get up. Get up. It's about to start. Wake up in two seconds. They pull over. They hit you with a... It's like, this is the biggest waste of money in my entire life.

00:03:54 - 00:04:01 | Speaker 5:

Was he 12? Yeah. Why would you take a 12-year-old to a Broadway show? Oh, my God.

00:04:01 - 00:04:04 | Speaker 1:

He's totally the type that would love it. Right. What are you talking about?

00:04:04 - 00:04:06 | Speaker 5:

No, because the kids don't want to see that stuff.

00:04:06 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 2:

Dude, I've taken Luz since she was four, and she loves it.

00:04:09 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 5:

And you know what? She loves it for the candy and the snacks that they have. There's that, too. That's all that they want.

00:04:18 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 2:

It's all part of the experience.

00:04:19 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 6:

We're trying to build a well-rounded individual. We always go to Imagine. We just did the kayak. We had Zap Zone all the time. You got to throw a little theater in there. Agreed. A little live performance. Sing, dance, curtains, costumes. I thought this would be a good time. Boring. He just want to sit on the couch and watch Invisible.

00:04:37 - 00:04:41 | Speaker 1:

That's because this grown adult to my left falls asleep during every Broadway show.

00:04:41 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 5:

Seriously, you know what it is? Going to one of those shows is like going to, you ever see them? They have it at airport, Detroit Metro Airport. The sleep area. There's like a place you can go to and just lay down and sleep if you want to. That's what I call going to the Fisher Theater or one of those.

00:05:00 - 00:05:04 | Speaker 2:

other theaters see that's you love going i'm taking shannon next time yeah i'll go i'll take

00:05:04 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 3:

josiah can hang with me y'all can go do something josiah and i will be like i don't know go we'll go grab mcdonald's and you know what kids like the honestly the the thing that the kids like they like going to my kids used to they used to love just going into game stop but you know i know nobody does games at game stop anymore they would we would spend an hour and a half to two hours after work every day, sitting in a GameStop with them walking around that store, or bring them to, I'm trying to think, the mall or Dave & Buster's or something like that. When we would go to the mall, we would go right to Spencer's. The kids would go into the Spencer's store. Yeah.

00:05:42 - 00:05:43 | Speaker 1:

A Lego store.

00:05:43 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 3:

Right to the corner where the adult toys were. Those kids. Or Target. You know what? I was just about to say that. A kid would rather be a Target.

00:05:49 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 2:

Facts. Anytime I got lost in a Target or any of those type of stores, my mom knew to come to the Electronics section and I would be over there playing the free games.

00:05:59 - 00:06:05 | Speaker 3:

What was the biggest waste of money you ever spent on your kids and the dumbest thing that your kids ever just like wasted money with?

00:06:05 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 1:

Can I tell you mine?

00:06:06 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 3:

Please.

00:06:07 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 1:

So when both of the kids turned, it was either four or five for their birthdays, their dad and I took them to Disney World to celebrate because that was like the thing. And when it was time, something is in my throat today.

00:06:19 - 00:06:24 | Speaker 3:

you guys i'm so sorry it's so annoying do one big one click click it's annoying me it has to

00:06:24 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 1:

be annoying you my apologies so it's smith's turn lucy had a great time when we took her it's smith's turn and we go to the magic kingdom they've got toy story land or world i don't know what they call it and disney i mean you know like you save for this it's not cheap and he decided that he was scared of rides and wasn't going to go on anything and i looked at his dad i'm like i want to cry right now right we spent so much money on this ticket to come today and the more that he was like yeah i don't yeah i'm scared i'm scared was every all day i'm scared i'm scared i'm like oh my god so he's just basically here to walk around we used to have uh listeners that

00:07:10 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 3:

would call us up and tell us that they would take their kid to the little corner you know uh you know how they have on weekends the the carnival and they would tell their kids we're going to disney

00:07:20 - 00:07:30 | Speaker 1:

their kids knew none the wiser that's what you do now i'd be cool if my kids said i was scared to go on those rides because i'm scared too you got a better chance of getting hurt on those

00:07:30 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 4:

april what's up it's mojo in the morning hi hi good morning guys so kev i just want to let you know it starts uh it now starts to begin the puberty hibernation for you and um yeah and that's where you're seeing a little glimpse of it now because, you know, he's only 12. You said 12, right? Yeah. Yeah, he's only 12 right now, so you're only seeing a little glimpse of it where they're, like, starting to sleep here and there. And then all of a sudden, one year, they're just going to sleep the entire year away. They hibernate. Five inches, and then you're going to have to buy new clothes at the end of it, too. That's true.

00:08:04 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 3:

They grow like maniacs. I know. They're exhausted. These kids, the longest my kids ever slept was they went to bed, and they went to bed really late. They went to bed, like, maybe at 1 or 2 o'clock in the morning. I think Joe slept until, like, 4 the next afternoon. We thought he was dead.

00:08:21 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 4:

It's insane. I have, of my five, three of them are boys, and they just sleep the entire, that's all they do. They either sleep, play baseball or basketball, and eating, and that is it.

00:08:31 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 3:

Yep. 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548 is the telephone number. Text is 95500. Biggest waste of money, Carrie. Hi.

00:08:40 - 00:09:12 | Speaker 6:

oh this wasn't the biggest waste of money um i think kev's problem here is that he didn't address the fact that he's been letting the boys stay up all night that's true like he should have definitely had him call out rest the night before because he would have loved it he would have loved the show if he'd have been awake for it oh you might be right i told him what we were doing i don't think that night was a 5 a.m night that might have been a 2 30 for something that That expensive would have been the way to go. I'm just saying. You're right. You're right.

00:09:12 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 3:

You know, you sound like you honestly sound like everybody's mom there, Carrie. That was so perfect. Thank you for keeping us in track. What's up, Jamie? Hi. Biggest waste of money you spent on your kids?

00:09:25 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 5:

So what about these Fortnite bucks? The fake imaginary skins for Fortnite? Yes. Yes. Horrible, horrible waste of money.

00:09:35 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 3:

You know, Mike, it's funny you talk about that, Fortnite. And my kids had the credit card attached. I had to stop it. And then when they got pissed that they weren't attached to the gaming system, this is not my kids, Luke. Then he started ordering pay-per-view movies on Xfinity. All of a sudden, I'd get these alerts when I'd wake up in the morning that he would order like five movies. And I would say to him, how did you watch five movies? He goes, well, I watched like four minutes of the first.

00:10:00 - 00:10:15 | Speaker 5:

First one, I go, do you watch previews? Insane. At least look at the previews and see what the hell the thing's about. That sounds like, honestly, something that the kids are like, money grows. My dad used to say, money doesn't grow on trees. I've heard that a few times. What's going on, Stephanie? Hi.

00:10:16 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 7:

Hi. I took my son to the circus, and he slept through the whole entire thing. Oh, no. Yeah, no. Pissed.

00:10:23 - 00:10:27 | Speaker 2:

And you're sitting there going, I don't even want to be here. Right. I came here for him.

00:10:28 - 00:10:37 | Speaker 5:

You know what, though? you know what it's probably a good thing if you would have saw what those guys were doing at the circus it would have been a different world for you what's up kirsten

00:10:37 - 00:11:13 | Speaker 7:

hey good morning i uh me and my friend took our 15 year old to cedar point and we talked them into going on one ride which was the gatekeeper which was probably a bad idea and didn't ride any other ride the entire time and we spent the fast passes we spent hundreds of dollars yeah oh my god that's great so disappointing don't you love when you go to a place like cedar point and

00:11:13 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 5:

00:13:09 - 00:13:22 | Speaker 4:

2016 was sort of that last era of monoculture where we still consume things in community. Everybody wanted to be Beyonce at that point. I don't think we'll ever see another Beyonce.
