All right, it is Mojo in the morning show. Shannon, tonight is the Kendrick Lamar and SZA concert. And we're giving away tickets this morning here on the show. We may have to give them to your husband because what happened?

00:01:58 - 00:03:21 | Speaker 4:

I know. So for Christmas, Wes bought his daughter, Samantha, who's about to turn 16, tickets to see Kendrick and SZA. She is a super fan. And she was so excited on Christmas morning to open up these tickets. And Wes bought them with the intention of making it a daddy-daughter date night, that they would go and enjoy the concert together. And he, I mean, he spent, tickets are expensive anyway. He spent some money on these tickets because he wanted to get them really, really great. seats fast forward to this past weekend and samantha tells us she's going to the mall with one of her really really good friends and they were shopping for their outfits for the kendrick show and west is like oh did she get tickets too and sam kind of looked at us with this face like no she's going with me like she's taking the other ticket oh wait so west didn't say to i don't we were talking about this in bed last night because we were trying to plan how we're going to get you know her down there tonight and pick her up and all those things and he was like i'm super bummed about it i thought this would be like a core memory for us and i said to be fair i don't recall you being very clear about saying i can't wait for us to spend this night together you know this is this is for you and me not for you and a friend and he's like essentially now

00:03:21 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 6:

i spent all this money on a free ticket for a friend and this is back in december so this is all this time being excited he's about to have his daddy daughter day exactly all right let's

00:03:35 - 00:04:16 | Speaker 7:

open this up to the listeners let's ask you if and you know this the story here we're going to play mojo court here like the people's court what do you think here in this one so west gave her, gave Samantha, his daughter, his high school age daughter tickets, two tickets to go to Kendrick and SZA, the concert and didn't say, hey this is for us, we're going to have a night together basically said, look what you got, oh my god I'm excited, she then assumes that she's going to invite a friend and she invites the friend, now the friend thinks she's going to go, so what does Wes do? Does Wes say, wait a second, no those tickets were for me, he hasn't done that obviously, he just said to you

00:04:16 - 00:04:30 | Speaker 4:

He didn't do that, and last night, even, he was still talking about it, and he's like, I mean, I guess it is way more fun for her to go with a friend than for her to go with her dad, but he's like, he's bummed. He's really, really bummed.

00:04:30 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 7:

Although, I got to be quite honest with you. She's, how old is she? She's about to turn 16. So, she's not a driving age, right?

00:04:37 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 4:

No.

00:04:37 - 00:04:46 | Speaker 7:

So, she could basically, or he could say, well, you need a ride to go to this concert, and you're- No, no, no, no. No.

00:04:46 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 6:

We're sick right now. I'm going to be honest with you. He's what? He's sick. That means like he's in his feelings. Yeah. He's hurt. He mad about it. This man done bought the ticket six months ago. Can you imagine? He low-key watching the.

00:05:00 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 2:

halftime show at the Super Bowl. Like, yeah, we about to be at the Super Bowl and then. And now she's like, uh, I'm taking my guy. I forgot Kendrick and SZA did the Super Bowl halftime show. You even had touch points for the last six months and no idea that she taking her girl. And it's too late to back out on her friend now. She was texting her friend at the Super Bowl. Probably on Christmas morning. Immediately. It's over, Wes.

00:05:27 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 1:

He got to take the L on this one. What's going

00:05:29 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 6:

on kim you actually think differently what's up she's 16 years old who lets a 16 year old go to

00:05:36 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 1:

a concert by themselves kim's a mom safety first absolutely not no Kim, you're going to smoke a cigarette since 16.

00:05:46 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 2:

Come on.

00:05:48 - 00:05:54 | Speaker 5:

That might be true. Let me say it straight.

00:05:54 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, Kim.

00:05:56 - 00:06:01 | Speaker 5:

You guys talk about these ruthless parents and not being parents. Yeah, be a parent. Be a parent.

00:06:01 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 3:

Do you know what he's doing? He is driving them down, staying down, and then driving them home.

00:06:09 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 6:

You might come back and can't pick them up. Oh, you are a no fun mom. No, I agree. I agree.

00:06:15 - 00:06:30 | Speaker 1:

Wes, put your foot down. Do you imagine how much fun she would have? She'd have no fun if Dad's going to this concert together. She's still going at it. What's up, Tara? Hi.

00:06:31 - 00:06:54 | Speaker 3:

Hi. I just want to say it's her Christmas present, and we should let her take her friend. You already gave her the present. You can't. Like, no, you're going with me. It's not fair. Yeah, and I agree with you. I agree with you. You mentioned that he's kind of strict on his kids anyways about, like, school and stuff. Let her loosen up and have fun. The last person was too rough, but she's 16.

00:06:54 - 00:06:54 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:06:55 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 3:

You can go to another one with her.

00:06:57 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 1:

Hey, Tara, do you like this texter here that says, we should have Wes on Am I the A-hole right now?

00:07:03 - 00:07:04 | Speaker 3:

No, he's not. He's not.

00:07:05 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 1:

Actually, he's been cool about it, the fact that he didn't really say anything. I could just talk to you about it. Yeah. Sonia, what's up, Sonia? It's Mojo in the morning. What do you think?

00:07:15 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 6:

I think that he should tell his daughter why he bought the tickets and probably go from there. Let her take her friend, or she might say, oh, dad, and go with her dad.

00:07:26 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 1:

You know, that's actually an interesting point. Say to her, say, hey, just so you know, this is what my intention was with going in. Absolutely. And leave it up to her as to whether or not she wants to still.

00:07:36 - 00:07:47 | Speaker 2:

Nah, because then you're forcing her to be in a guilt trip situation where she'll feel guilty and that she's letting either party down. Of course, she don't want to let her dad down, but she already told her friend this is what's going on.

00:07:47 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 1:

Jenea, what's up? It's Mojo in the morning. Hi.

00:07:50 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 2:

Hi, it's Jenea.

00:07:51 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 4:

I was just listening to you on the radio.

00:07:54 - 00:07:54 | Unknown:

Yeah.

00:07:54 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 4:

I think if he would have said that it was for him and her, I'm only 20, and so my dad tries to do stuff with me a lot, but, like, I also will ditch for my friend, too. Yeah, yeah. But it's Kendrick Lamar and SZA, so obviously it's first stars. Oh, me and my friend's going to go to the concert. Oh, yeah. All right, Wes and I singing his snooze.

00:08:14 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 1:

Who would you like to see, honestly, have more fun with, your best friend or your dad?

00:08:22 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 4:

Honestly, my best friend. I feel bad for, like, my dad for saying that, but, like, he probably doesn't know much songs.

00:08:29 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 1:

Wes does. He knows a lot of songs. Yeah, Wes is a big fan. He's a big fan of it. What's going on, Stephanie? How are you doing?

00:08:36 - 00:08:37 | Speaker 5:

Good. How are you?

00:08:37 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 1:

Good. What's going on?

00:08:39 - 00:08:47 | Speaker 5:

So I agree. I think Wes should go with her instead of the best friend. My daughter's 17, and she's not allowed to go to a concert by herself at all.

00:08:47 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. Where are you from, Stephanie?

00:08:50 - 00:08:50 | Speaker 5:

Taylor.

00:08:50 - 00:09:20 | Speaker 1:

Because that's a drive, right? I mean, that's obviously in the Metro Detroit area, so it's not that far. You're going to be going from, you know, like if you're going, I think if, you know, one of our Toledo listeners or Grand Rapids listeners was going, I would say dad should go with. I think you might be okay. I don't know you know what's funny is that I don't know what Ford Field has but I know that Little Caesars sometimes has like parent rooms and stuff like that for real I think they do have like places like where the parents they do it for especially like the kids type concerts this is not definitely one of those kid kind of concerts

00:09:20 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 5:

no no my daughter would not be allowed to go without an adult

00:09:24 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 1:

going with her Luke in high school like he was like in sophomore year of high school went to the Drake concert and I made his older brother go with him to the concert but I still went downtown because I was honestly still not feeling comfortable. Was you a sad dude? He was just at the bar drinking? Who, me? No, I was hanging out at the DAC. But I was close. I was right there.

00:09:46 - 00:09:49 | Speaker 3:

Can you be downtown tonight to hang out with Wes so he's not by himself?

00:09:50 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 1:

I got a sheriff's meeting in Oakland County. What's going on, Brandy? Hi.

00:09:56 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 2:

Talk about turtles.

00:09:57 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

What's up? Hey there.

00:10:00 - 00:10:07 | Speaker 7:

I just wanted to say my kids would never. I think Wes's daughter is kind of presumptuous to have even done that.

00:10:08 - 00:10:11 | Speaker 6:

Well, no, she thought that the tickets were just for her.

00:10:11 - 00:10:35 | Speaker 7:

For her, yeah. He did not say anything. My kids wouldn't assume that. Like, I'd give them a kiss. And like, oh, no, never. They would definitely think it's like me and mom. And maybe, I don't know, I got daughters, so it would have been like a mom thing. but even if they would have asked rather than just assuming see i i don't know i wouldn't call

00:10:35 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 6:

her presumptuous i think that would that's kind of harsh on her but i think that uh you assume that or you get a gift you think that that's your gift you know what i mean like if i got if i was a little kid and i'll give you the analogy i get a video game and dad gives it to me i'm not playing him with him all the time you know what i mean i'm doing it with whoever i want

00:10:54 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 7:

to do it with right i mean yeah but that's a little different like and then i don't mean to

00:10:59 - 00:11:09 | Speaker 6:

be harsh because i'm just might have been you kind of sound harsh it's not but but you're also you you wouldn't let your daughter go to the concert probably by yourself or no would you not not at

00:11:09 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 7:

15 not at 15 and not that kind of concert like that i would i would kind of want to be there and i'm just i'm a i'm a girl mom so we do a lot of stuff together so that's what i really kind of by presumptuous, they know that we're going to kick it. We're going to hang out.

00:11:24 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 5:

What is that kind of concert, though? This ain't Uncle Luke. This ain't Ozzy Osbourne biting hands off bed. No, but it's still, though.

00:11:34 - 00:11:51 | Speaker 6:

That's why he's staying. A downtown concert, I think, is one of those things. There's a lot of people. I wouldn't want Jelly Roll and Post Malone for her to be there by herself. You know what I mean? And it has nothing to do, I think, with the artists. Hold on. Anne Marie's got the best point of them all. What's your idea. Hi, good

00:11:51 - 00:12:03 | Speaker 8:

morning. I think that Wes should buy two more tickets or even Shannon could buy two tickets for Father's Day. They go. I don't want to go. I don't want to go.

00:12:03 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 7:

Not only are they chaperoning.

00:12:05 - 00:12:11 | Speaker 6:

You're a horrible wife. No, I have stuff to do tonight. What about Wes buying just one ticket? Buy a one-off ticket and just go

00:12:11 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 5:

to the concert? There you go. Yeah. And just stand there by himself? Go to the concert?

00:12:16 - 00:12:17 | Speaker 6:

Honestly, you're in the venue

00:12:17 - 00:12:25 | Speaker 5:

and then you drive them. No, Wes isn't buying the tickets because he wants to see Kendrick. It was to have a moment with his daughter. We're not going to buy one rando ticket.

00:12:25 - 00:12:29 | Speaker 6:

I'll buy one ticket in the same section. I've done that before where I've had...

00:12:29 - 00:12:34 | Speaker 5:

Then we're talking about you tomorrow morning. There was a random creepy dude by himself. Staring at these two girls.

00:12:36 - 00:12:37 | Speaker 6:

Excuse me, ma'am.

00:12:37 - 00:13:07 | Speaker 4:
