We've all seen the headlines. Florida man wrestles alligator in a tuxedo or Florida man sues after finding toenails in his ice cream.

00:01:09 - 00:01:14 | Speaker 5:

It's easy to laugh at the meme, but have you ever wondered about the human behind the headline?

00:01:14 - 00:01:15 | Speaker 6:

Hey, I'm Frankie P.

00:01:15 - 00:01:20 | Speaker 5:

And I'm Amelia. On our podcast here in Florida and beyond, we're going beneath the surface of the Sunshine State.

00:01:20 - 00:01:28 | Speaker 7:

From interviews with real people who make Florida weird. I'm pulling it up, and as I'm pulling it up, I see an arm. Stop it. Come down.

00:01:29 - 00:01:36 | Speaker 5:

To deep dives into the stories you didn't know you were looking for. Hey, give it up for Mark Wahlberg on the podcast today. It's more than just a meme. It's a lifestyle.

00:01:37 - 00:01:41 | Speaker 6:

Hidden Florida and Beyond with Mark Wahlberg, May 21st.

00:01:47 - 00:02:02 | Speaker 2:

Picture a nurse in scrubs. Got it? Okay. Now picture a nurse in a windbreaker in boots. Those are scrubs, too. Or a suit or a high-vis vest, jeans and a tee, all scrubs. A nurse isn't what they wear, but how they care. The Florida Center for Nursing, recognizing all our state's nurses.

00:02:02 - 00:02:45 | Speaker 3:

Mojo on the morning show. Chance for you to go to Naughty Mom's Night Out is happening in less than 10 minutes. So like seven minutes from now. So be listening if you're a mom and want to party with us on May the 12th at the Daxton Hotel in Birmingham. Okay, so I want to bring something up here right now that I've talked about for, I don't know, weeks now, it seems like. And it's definitely something that has been top of mind for me as far as causing a little bit of anxiety. But I have anxiety for a different reason now. I've been telling you about how my youngest son, our baby Luke, is going to be graduating from high school this year. He only has two more days left of school.

00:02:46 - 00:02:46 | Speaker 1:

Today, tomorrow?

00:02:47 - 00:02:52 | Speaker 3:

Today, tomorrow, he is no longer a high school student ever.

00:02:52 - 00:02:55 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my gosh. That's so crazy. That's really early. Is that normal?

00:02:56 - 00:03:37 | Speaker 3:

It's insane how early it is. Oh, okay. But it's always that way. It is? Yeah, they start early at his school. So with my son not going to high school anymore has caused for Chelsea and I have to do a lot of preparation because we've got to bring grandparents into town, brothers back for his high school graduation. And then last night, I opened up an Amazon package at the house. And when I opened it up, there were four water guns inside of this thing. And for those that live in Michigan, I think it's a big thing in the Detroit area. It might be also in Grand Rapids. I know Toledo, Megan, says it's not that big.

00:03:38 - 00:03:41 | Speaker 1:

I didn't know what it was until you guys described it a few years ago.

00:03:41 - 00:03:55 | Speaker 3:

These high school kids do this thing called Water Wars, where they team up with each other and then they squirt their friends. And if you squirt one of the kids on the team, basically, they're out and it's which team is going to be the winner of this Water Wars.

00:03:55 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 6:

What do you win, by the way?

00:03:57 - 00:04:04 | Speaker 3:

You know what? I don't actually know what the prize is, but I know that my son is a reigning champion in the Water Wars. Oh, wow. And he's got a first round bye.

00:04:04 - 00:04:08 | Speaker 1:

Does he get a tassel on his graduation cap for that? Actually, no. Or a rope around his neck?

00:04:08 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 3:

They get a rope around their neck, yes, for that thing. Make a jerk. But so Water Wars is happening, and then I overheard Luke talking to a friend of his about a senior prank, possibly, that people were talking about a senior prank. Yeah. And it's got me thinking something that's given me more anxiety than the fact that I can't believe that my baby is going to be going to college. It's that my baby is not going to go to college, and that he's going to get in trouble over the next couple of weeks before they go and do their diploma graduation, and he's not going to graduate. And then we did a five lies to tell your mom. You might have heard that kid Jordan on with us where we told his mom that he wasn't going to walk. And it got me thinking, what the hell is going to happen if Luke doesn't get to walk? Like, what if he does something? What if he acts like a complete moron or an idiot and gets himself?

00:05:00 - 00:05:35 | Speaker 4:

into uh trouble so i wanted to ask this question of our listeners that maybe have graduated or haven't graduated and ask who did not get to walk at graduation and what was it that caused you not to be able to walk so call us up 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 if you were either the person that didn't get to walk or had a friend or somebody that you knew that didn't get to walk or maybe the parent of you can call us up and uh and tell us this i was on the very edge were you for what

00:05:35 - 00:06:17 | Speaker 5:

what'd you do because i figured out a trick they had a girl in um in my senior year who would sit in the office and she was training to do office work when she left high school so she would answer the phones every morning and i figured out that if i called her that morning i could say hey just tell them my dad called hey just tell them my mom called today i'm not coming in today or i'm missing the first couple hours. I did this for probably three months without anybody ever saying anything. I just went under the radar. Nobody said a word, and then I finally got busted, and I had suspension for the rest of the year. Every day after school, I'd have to sit there for a couple hours, and they said, if you don't do this, you are not going to be able to walk at graduation. My mom was furious.

00:06:17 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 4:

What happened to the girl, though, that was doing this, too? Did she get in trouble? I don't know.

00:06:21 - 00:06:24 | Speaker 5:

I have no idea. I probably should have answered that. She's the one that's doing that thing.

00:06:24 - 00:06:31 | Speaker 6:

By the way, what in the heck were you doing that you were skipping school or you were three hours late every day? Smoking weed. Smoking weed. Oh, were you?

00:06:31 - 00:06:35 | Speaker 5:

I was sleeping. I slept a lot. And a little bit of weed, yeah.

00:06:35 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 6:

Oh, okay. I didn't know you were.

00:06:36 - 00:07:01 | Speaker 4:

We always thought that the kids that did stuff like that were, you know, the burnouts, right? The guy smoking weed. I remember one kid, Mike, did exactly what you did where he didn't come to school and was able to work his way that he could miss his first hour and not get caught the whole deal. But he would sit in the parking lot of the school and hang out with his friends. I mean, like, why are you hanging out with your friends in the parking lot? You should be at home or something, right?

00:07:01 - 00:07:05 | Speaker 5:

I tried to justify it because it was like gym class. It was my senior year. It doesn't matter.

00:07:05 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 4:

Who needs gym class? 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. Why did you not walk at graduation? Starting off with a voice disguised one here. How about this for a alias? Are you okay with the name Bella?

00:07:21 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:07:22 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 4:

All right, alias Bella. Why did you not walk at graduation?

00:07:28 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 1:

So, it was actually my foreign exchange student. I was a junior, and she was a senior, and she got caught drinking at prom. So, she couldn't walk, so we staged photos of her walk. Oh, my gosh, Faith, that's a great idea.

00:07:48 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 4:

She had the cap and gown and everything, and you guys just kind of, like, played it like you were there?

00:07:54 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 1:

Oh, yeah. Yep, we took lots of staged selfies of her, all dressed up in her cap and gown, and sent it to her parents.

00:08:01 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 4:

That's great. Yeah, you know what they say? That prom is one of the biggest times that people end up getting themselves into trouble, and the reason why they can't walk. Natalie, hi. Hi, Natalie.

00:08:15 - 00:08:16 | Unknown:

Hi, how are you guys?

00:08:17 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 4:

We're good. Why did you not get to walk?

00:08:20 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 3:

So it wasn't me, but my graduating class decided that our hallway in the upstairs of the school was going to be a slip and slide. So fun. Tarps and actual, like, slip and slides that you buy in the box down all over the hallway and suds were just everywhere. Okay, that is so fun.

00:08:41 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 4:

Did they get in trouble, like, where they couldn't walk?

00:08:44 - 00:08:50 | Speaker 3:

uh yeah quite a few of them got pulled from the walk i just like destroyed the floor

00:08:50 - 00:09:12 | Speaker 6:

see that stinks because that that to me like it's not really doing any damage and i feel like that's a pretty steep a pretty steep punishment but they have to do it to keep the other classes essentially 13 years to walk to make that walk staff hi hi how are you good so this was a group

00:09:12 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 2:

of people that weren't allowed to walk is that right yeah it was actually me my twin sister and then our best friend and the two of them had some issues with another girl in school and it was literally just some back and forth like he said she said stuff there was never like any physical fight or anything like that but they took bullying so serious and wouldn't even let me walk because of my sister and my best friend and the problems they have with another girl oh man but you weren't doing any of that stuff no we were just like really close and it was just like the three of us all the time and yes so they just kind of included me because i guess maybe they thought i was going to continue the issues at school if i that sucks i agree by the way for the two of them

00:09:58 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 6:

they shouldn't get to walk but how

00:10:00 - 00:10:01 | Speaker 4:

How upset was your family, though, about this?

00:10:02 - 00:10:03 | Speaker 6:

Oh, it was such a big deal.

00:10:04 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 4:

Oh, I bet. Like, grandparents don't understand what's going on when you find out that they can't be going to their grandchild's graduation.

00:10:12 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 5:

Don't you agree bullying? I do. You shouldn't. I do. Slip inside in the hallway or water wars. Yes.

00:10:17 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 4:

Yes. But here's the thing. I think that there's ways to suspend them without giving them the, I can never see that my child graduated. But I don't know. Phoenix, what's up? hi how you doing phoenix we're talking about not being able to walk during graduation i'm so worried my son only has two more days left of school and i'm hoping he doesn't do anything stupid

00:10:42 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 6:

no on our senior class trip um our valedictorian had actually gotten in trouble for smoking marijuana and was told that his parents needed to come to new york to come pick him up and that he wasn't able to walk. But he ended up being able to still be there, but in retaliation of our principal, one of the students, she had said, well, you guys better not do anything. You guys better just keep it straight altogether. And he ended up stripping down into a Robin superhero costume to go and get his diploma.

00:11:26 - 00:11:42 | Speaker 4:

So took off his cap and gown and had a Robin superhero one. You know what's amazing about the valedictorian? He's usually the one, isn't he, or she, that gets to go up there and speaks. And then all of a sudden, they're not allowed to be up there. Listen to Gabby's. One last one here. Gabby, are you there?

00:11:43 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 7:

Yes, I am.

00:11:44 - 00:11:48 | Speaker 4:

Gabby, we're talking about not being able to walk during graduation. What was the reason?

00:11:49 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 7:

Me and my friends hacked into the principal's school computer and sent an email to all the teachers in the school's post. Legendary.

00:12:00 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 4:

Yes. And they found you guys, huh? They found out who the hackers were?

00:12:04 - 00:12:06 | Speaker 7:

Yeah. Yep.

00:12:06 - 00:12:06 | Speaker 4:

Oh, God.

00:12:06 - 00:12:07 | Speaker 7:

So we couldn't walk.

00:12:08 - 00:12:23 | Speaker 4:

All right, real quick. I said you were going to be the last, but these last three, we're going to have the listeners and you guys judge. Who is the better reason why you couldn't walk? That hacked into the computers. Leah, what was the reason why you couldn't walk?

00:12:24 - 00:12:28 | Speaker 7:

Hi. We let thousands of crickets go in our school.

00:12:28 - 00:12:31 | Speaker 4:

I've heard of that one before. That's a good one. So frustrating.

00:12:31 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 5:

And they don't go away for a long time. No. You could hear them for a week afterwards.

00:12:35 - 00:12:41 | Speaker 4:

And Debbie, what was yours, the reason why you couldn't walk? Debbie?

00:12:42 - 00:12:47 | Speaker 6:

Oh, it wasn't me, but it was someone in my class. They drove their motorcycle down the hallway.

00:12:49 - 00:13:01 | Speaker 4:

Come on. These are great. All right. The slip and slide one, hacked into the principal's computer and closed school, let the crickets loose, and drove the motorcycle down. Stellar. Those are great.

00:13:01 - 00:13:03 | Speaker 5:

Those are so good. So good.

00:13:04 - 00:13:10 | Speaker 4:

Congratulations to our graduates this year. And hopefully my son's name is being read at graduation.

00:13:10 - 00:13:18 | Speaker 5:

What is the big graduation song this year? Is there one that everybody's going to play? Isn't it the Maroon 5 one that they stole from Vitamin C? Memories?

00:13:18 - 00:13:23 | Speaker 4:

Wait, that was, isn't that old, like a couple years ago?

00:13:23 - 00:13:33 | Speaker 5:

Oh my God, I am so sorry. Like they didn't play vitamin C for 30 years. No, I agree with you. I just didn't know if there was like something new, newer. Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. I feel attacked.

00:13:33 - 00:13:40 | Speaker 3:

I hope it's something like super, like I hope it's like R. Kelly. Like something just so inappropriate. No! I believe I can fly. How funny would that be?

00:13:40 - 00:13:42 | Speaker 4:

I don't think they'll allow it anymore.

00:13:42 - 00:13:43 | Speaker 3:

What is wrong with you?

00:13:43 - 00:13:52 | Speaker 4:

It needs to be something just completely out of context. Like, I don't know, here you go. But this would be a good one for the song for the class of 2023.

00:13:53 - 00:13:53 | Speaker 7:

Yeah.

00:13:54 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 6:

Because girls is players too.

00:13:57 - 00:14:00 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, yeah. Because girls is players too.

00:14:00 - 00:14:10 | Speaker 4:

All right. We want to give you a chance to go to our Naughty Moms Night Out. It's May the 12th. 844-MOJO-LIVE. 844-665-6548. 95th caller wins.
