moto.us for more details must be 21 plus mojo on the morning show i'm gonna go on record to say that my favorite birthday i've ever had in my life is what shannon's gonna have next year or next week really next year 40 years old was by far do you remember my my 40th birthday party

00:02:22 - 00:02:25 | Speaker 1:

I do remember going to your 40th birthday party.

00:02:25 - 00:02:49 | Speaker 2:

It was honestly my favorite birthday I've ever had. My wife threw me the greatest birthday party that I probably have ever had to date. Although I've had some really good ones other than that, good birthdays. But 40 was, for some reason, a great time for me. And I think to myself, Shannon, you're going to be 40 next week. It's going to be a good one for you.

00:02:50 - 00:03:14 | Speaker 1:

I was, like, super excited to turn 40. And now all of a sudden that I only have one week in my 30s left, I'm like, oh, crap. I don't know. Now I'm kind of getting all sorts of feelings about it. Really? I remember. Here's what's so crazy to me. I remember throwing my mom a surprise 40th birthday party. And so it's, like, really weird to me to think now that I'm that same age because I don't feel that way.

00:03:14 - 00:03:16 | Speaker 4:

When we were kids, we thought 40 was ancient.

00:03:16 - 00:03:28 | Speaker 1:

It was over the hill. Everything was over the hill. And now I don't think it's that way, but it is kind of just weird to like recall when my mom was that age and now I am turning that age, you know?

00:03:29 - 00:03:42 | Speaker 2:

You know what, though? I looked at 40 and I think you should look at 40 as that, and you have to understand you have more than half of your life left. Right. So you don't have to worry about that.

00:03:42 - 00:03:42 | Speaker 1:

Oh, yeah.

00:03:43 - 00:03:55 | Speaker 2:

And that you're in a great spot right now. You, you know, you had some struggles for some years with some personal stuff, but now things are turning around for you.

00:03:55 - 00:03:55 | Speaker 1:

Yes.

00:03:55 - 00:04:03 | Speaker 2:

You know? Yeah. I mean, look at this. That is a great way to look at it. If you were turning 40, four years ago or so, or how many, how many years ago was it?

00:04:04 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 1:

Three years ago? Since I've been going through like the junk. Yeah. Five.

00:04:09 - 00:04:12 | Speaker 2:

It's been now. Okay. Five almost six years. Could you imagine? It would have been piled on.

00:04:12 - 00:04:23 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. You're right. You're totally right. I just like, what do I need to do? What do I need to cram into one week of being 30 that is like not appropriate for me to do once I turn 40?

00:04:24 - 00:04:29 | Speaker 2:

Like things that you should do? Yeah. Wear your hat backwards. I don't know what. I don't know. Wear jerseys.

00:04:29 - 00:04:32 | Speaker 1:

Like are there things or it's just like a free for all now?

00:04:32 - 00:04:38 | Speaker 2:

I think women are different than guys. Guys should never wear like certain things past a certain age, but I don't know if women are that way.

00:04:38 - 00:04:42 | Speaker 1:

I mean, the orthopedic shoes are next, right? So maybe you're in high heels? I don't know.

00:04:43 - 00:04:54 | Speaker 4:

You're in good company. you look at some of the people that are turning 40 in the next few weeks and it's emily blunt carrie underwood chris hemsworth mila kunis heck yeah really so you're in good company

00:04:54 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 1:

all right we can go to the next topic i feel great i thought that would help

00:05:00 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 4:

I feel like ages, though, have really changed. Like 40 is, I feel back in the day used to be like old 40. And now it's like 40, dude, you got like so much more freedom. You get to do more stuff. I don't know. I get excited to get older now. I used to look at it as something bad, but now I'm like, oh, I think it's going to get easier.

00:05:21 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 6:

Like 40, I finally had disposable income. In my 30s, I was trying to pay to rent a house and then finally get my first house. And then I had zero dollars. And then you have to pay your car and everything. In my 40s, I felt like I finally have a little money. You have disposable income now? Hold on. You put aside some so you could take your kids up north and do stuff like that. I couldn't do that in my 30s.

00:05:46 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 3:

Just become a little smarter with your money. Is that what you're saying?

00:05:48 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 5:

All right. I got the list. This is it.

00:05:51 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 3:

Who made this list? The internet or you?

00:05:53 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 5:

I Googled things that you should do, things that you should do before you're 40, and it was all like heartfelt, warm things. Yeah, you don't like that. And I didn't like it. So I Googled things that you shouldn't do after you're 40. And when I Googled things that you shouldn't do after you're 40, it made me go, all right, this is a better list. Okay. Because this is stuff that you need to do before the next week.

00:06:14 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 3:

Okay.

00:06:16 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 5:

Eating in bed, eating in your bed just before you go to sleep.

00:06:19 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 3:

I do that every single night.

00:06:20 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 5:

Okay. Well, that's it. You got to stop.

00:06:22 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 3:

Okay.

00:06:23 - 00:06:28 | Speaker 5:

Um, stop looking at yourself in the mirror to see what kind of blemishes that you have.

00:06:28 - 00:06:29 | Speaker 3:

Like every hour.

00:06:30 - 00:06:55 | Speaker 5:

Um, let's see here. Uh, white claws. You know, that's actually one of the ones too. Yeah. Here you go. Drinking any kind of seltzer, uh, beverage as your number one choice. Although you're a wine drinker. So that, that really doesn't, uh, doesn't work. Um, those are a few of those things. And then the rest of them are all guy stuff. Cause guys shouldn't do like, like I mentioned before. Never wear your hat backwards. Stop.

00:06:55 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 1:

I'm never going to stop doing that.

00:06:57 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 5:

You still have some time, right, Mike?

00:06:59 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 1:

I've got a few years, but it doesn't matter. I'm still going to do it when I'm 60.

00:07:03 - 00:07:07 | Speaker 5:

And wearing a jersey of a team not at a sporting event.

00:07:08 - 00:07:12 | Speaker 4:

No, that's any age. That's not 40. Still going to do it.

00:07:13 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 5:

What do you guys think Shannon should do in this next week before she turns 40? You've got to call us, 844-MOJO-LIVE. Colby wants to talk to you. What's up, Colby?

00:07:23 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 1:

Hey, Shannon, I think you need to go to a club with Wes and twerk on, because before you, after you twerk, you might throw your back out. You have to do it to Laffy Taffy. Exactly, that's perfect.

00:07:42 - 00:07:44 | Speaker 6:

That's great, twerk before your back hurt.

00:07:44 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 5:

Doreen, hi.

00:07:46 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 2:

Good morning, guys. Good morning. Shannon, first of all, happy early birthday. I wanted to tell you that the 40 is going to be your new 20. I feel like you're going to have the best year of your life. I feel like there might be an engagement coming up soon, and you're going to start a whole new life with a whole new family.

00:08:10 - 00:08:11 | Speaker 5:

Wow. That's big.

00:08:11 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 3:

That is some pressure right there, Doreen.

00:08:14 - 00:08:32 | Speaker 5:

Do you think what – because you told me you're taking time off for next week. And I was like, oh, what do you got going on? I thought maybe you were just taking time to hang out and stuff. I didn't realize you had a big plan for your 40th. Do you think that that could happen on your big plan?

00:08:34 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 3:

I don't know because if I know Wes, it could go two ways. So I really don't know because Wes is the type that wouldn't want to do anything that he wouldn't want to propose in a situation where I would expect it. Like it would be cliche. But he also knows that I am like the biggest of big romantic saps And so is he And it would be a good opportunity to do it So I don't know Do you want him to? On this trip? See, that question makes me nervous Yes, I want him to But I don't want to say yes And then it not happen And then him feel the pressure like he should have Do you know what I mean? No, 100% I get that

00:09:14 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 5:

Do you want to share with the listeners what you're doing for your 40th birthday?

00:09:16 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 3:

So I, it has always been my dream to go to Paris for my, and for my 40th birthday. And so like in the, over the past couple of years, I've thought that's what I want to do. I want to save up money and that is how I want to celebrate my 40th birthday. Well, I went through my divorce and so I'm like, I, this is still something that I have dreamed of doing. So my plan was to go by myself truly. And then I met Wes, you know, a year and a half ago. And, um, and so he's like, I'm not letting you go to Paris by yourself. And of course we're doing this together.

00:09:46 - 00:09:49 | Speaker 5:

Wowie, could you imagine that, guys?

00:09:50 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 3:

I mean, I am so freaking excited. You have no idea.

00:09:53 - 00:09:55 | Speaker 5:

The Eiffel Tower proposal.

00:09:56 - 00:09:57 | Speaker 3:

No, no.

00:09:58 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 6:

Is that too cliche?

00:09:59 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:10:00 - 00:10:01 | Speaker 9:

Like chocolate croissant in the morning.

00:10:03 - 00:10:04 | Speaker 11:

Every morning, Megan.

00:10:05 - 00:10:14 | Speaker 7:

And how about this? How about this? Then you go twerk out in front. Ronnie, what should Shannon do before next week, before she turns 40?

00:10:15 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 9:

Good morning. Love you guys.

00:10:17 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 7:

Your phone all cut out so we didn't get all the niceties. What did you say?

00:10:23 - 00:10:26 | Speaker 9:

I was just saying I love you guys and good morning. We love you, too.

00:10:26 - 00:10:27 | Speaker 7:

Thank you.

00:10:27 - 00:10:32 | Speaker 9:

Happy early birthday. Thank you. Shannon, have you ever been

00:10:32 - 00:10:37 | Speaker 7:

Oh, I want to know what she said so bad You got a bad phone Stay in place real quick

00:10:37 - 00:10:40 | Speaker 5:

Stand on one foot Rage room

00:10:40 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 7:

What's that? Oh, go to a rage room Rage room

00:10:42 - 00:10:46 | Speaker 11:

Oh, I do that at home Like, honestly I have a problem

00:10:46 - 00:10:50 | Speaker 7:

So, have you ever gone to a rage room

00:10:50 - 00:10:52 | Speaker 11:

I actually have, like, a pretty short time

00:10:52 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 7:

Our listeners gave you two pieces of great advice on that Thank you guys so much Adam, add a third Adam, what should Shannon do before she turns 40 next week?

00:11:03 - 00:11:19 | Speaker 6:

Before you're 40, just start planning out your next big trip, your next big excursion, all the fun stuff. Your 40s end up being what you hoped your 20s would be. You got a little bit of money. You're not dumb. You know what you like. So you kind of take these trips and just enjoy life way better. All right.

00:11:19 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 7:

But give her one thing, though, that she should do before she turns 20.

00:11:23 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 6:

I mean 40.

00:11:24 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 7:

Or 40. Or before she turns 40.

00:11:27 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 6:

Okay, so I told, like, the thing with plan out next trips and blah, blah, blah. The thing I said you shouldn't do in your 40s is 20-year-olds. Good advice. A lot of people in their 40s try to do to younger kids and tell them to stay young. Don't worry about that.

00:11:45 - 00:11:47 | Speaker 7:

All right, okay. Tori, what's up?

00:11:48 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 4:

Hi, Mojo. Hi, Shannon. Hi. So my advice was I have two things. The first one is get a belly piercing.

00:11:54 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 5:

Oh, God. Oh, my God, that would seem like a midlife crisis, wouldn't it?

00:11:59 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 4:

And then the other one was get with you and a few friends and go to, like, a thought cave and just release all those impurities and embrace your new age.

00:12:08 - 00:12:10 | Speaker 10:

Oh, okay. There's actually one down the street here in Farmington Hills.

00:12:11 - 00:12:13 | Speaker 4:

Awesome. You should try it.

00:12:13 - 00:12:18 | Speaker 7:

Why a belly button piercing? I want to know. I'm just kind of giggling when you said that.

00:12:19 - 00:12:22 | Speaker 4:

Just because it's something that I would never do in my 40s.

00:12:22 - 00:12:37 | Speaker 10:

i love this text or somebody said we need to bring back clutch cargos for just one night to celebrate i would die and go to heaven honestly that would be so fun would that not

00:12:37 - 00:12:59 | Speaker 7:

be the fun most fun like throwback if we could ever find out i know it's now like some kind of a church for those is it really a church again yeah yeah it's like so for those in grand rapids in Toledo that don't know, the big 18 and over club in the Detroit area was Clutch Cargos in Pontiac. And it was honestly everything that you would think an 18 and over club

00:12:59 - 00:13:00 | Speaker 10:

would be. Just an awesome dump. It was glorious.

00:13:00 - 00:13:10 | Speaker 5:

It was great. Dear Shannon, I love you. I can't believe how much I'm not sick of you. Love, Deep Voice Guy. On Mojo in the Morning.
