Well, so I want to hear some good stories. So my fiance, Wes, is actually getting ready to put his home on the market. I think it's going up tomorrow, in fact. And so we're preparing. Like today, he's getting all of the photos of the inside taken. And they're getting ready to organize an open house for this weekend and then actually get the listing up and going either tonight or tomorrow. And I remember from selling my last house before I moved into the house that I'm in now, which I did for sale by owner, by the way. So I did all of the work myself. but this is when all of the crazies come out of the woodwork and you start to get all of the strange questions and the people who walk through your house get really nosy and sometimes might go through all of your stuff or if you have an open house they tell you you got to put certain things away you know so I want to know from people who've been through this process or realtors what's the craziest thing you saw during a you know home for sale process and what should he be stashing away

besides like the obvious personal like documents you need uh to buy him uh like devices like a ring device or whatever just to put on like a countertop to listen to what people say when they walk around the house but you gotta have a thick skin because people always will rip on things that you know like oh my god when i sold my last house lucy was a baby so we had the the

nursery camera and i would do that i would get on my phone and listen to how people were ripping like what they didn't like about my house and i would get so offended yeah that honestly is the

best in matter of fact um when we were looking at homes we had a real estate agent that told us don't talk when you're in the house wait to come outside especially if you really like the house because you never want to sit there and go oh my god i love it we got to have this house because then you know exactly if you know the person's negotiable or non-negotiable yep um did you see this story that was in the news last week I don't know what city it was in about the um open house squatter so you know how they do open houses on the weekends usually it's like Saturdays and Sundays they'll do like the open house and that's what his is going to be yeah a person went to an open house the real estate agent closed up the house for the night only to have left somebody There that decided that they were going to squat In the house and live in the house And they made themselves at home In the house They actually stayed in the house and the people Had to get like legal Action taken to get them out of the house Isn't that crazy So you gotta be careful about that 844 Mojo Live

um i have seen actually i held an open house and the guy had a locked room with his paraphernalia his legal paraphernalia but he left out the trim in a bag outside of the room so

explain that to me is that dirty or something what did he do no no it's not dirty so he had

a locked room with his marijuana and he left the garbage bag of trim oh okay i thought you were

is angelique and my granny used to call me angelique my whole life i'm sorry uh it's okay so when we were buying our house actually we walked into a squad or two at one of the houses we were looking at and our realtor also told us too you never say anything about an offer you never say oh i don't like this because there there might be a camera in there you don't know

Wow. So another squat. And listen to this. Susan, a squatter also at your house that you were trying to sell?

Yeah, we were looking at a house in Grosse Pointe. And you know how a lot of those homes have three floors? Yeah. Well, when we got up to the third floor, I mean, the house was completely vacant. And on the third floor, it was filled with baby stuff. And so there was a woman and a baby living on the top floor. Oh. They were not there, but all their stuff was there. Okay, that makes me sad. There was huge flashlights everywhere. And what's funny is the realtor told us as we walked up, like, oh, this house has been for sale for six months. No one's been here for six months. And when I walked in, there was crumbs on the kitchen counter. There was a couple dishes in the sink. I thought, that's really odd.

The funny thing is, Shannon, I know why you're sad. You're sad because you're thinking maybe this woman's homeless. But the woman's going to Grosse Pointe. She's probably living the life of a Grosse Pointer. And she's probably not. She's probably looking at it as a scam to get a house for free.

Yeah, I don't know.

It was one of those stamps. We found out later that it was one of those stamps. And we really wanted that house, and we ended up not buying it because of that.

Wow. Well, the problem is that you can't sell it right away because they don't want to leave. They don't have to leave. And legally...

Yeah, there are so many legal... Yep.

The law protects, it seems like, the squatters more than the person who owns the house.

Yeah. By the way, so many texters are saying that they look in people's fridges to see, just because they're nosy to see what's in there.

Well, I want to see how clean they are sometimes, because you go in their fridge and you see stuff that's outdated.

If you buy the house, you can clean that.

I know, I understand, but I just want to, like, see. You just want to judge. I want to judge them a little bit. That's my part of my negotiation.

So, it is crazy what you see on the cameras when you have the cameras up and you're watching them during the open house. Are you a realtor? I am not, but I recently sold a property and we have cameras all over our house, not because we're crazy, but because we have kids. So we would leave them rolling when we had the open house because obviously there are strangers in your house. And it's very weird the things that people look through and, like, the cabinets they open. Like, what were some of the stranger things that kind of caught you off guard? Like the smaller cabinets, like the more personal, like, linen cabinets in the bedrooms or, like, master bedrooms. um just cabinets in general in the kitchen like opening them going through all the shelves like not commenting on the beautiful pool in the backyard but like commenting on how they didn't like the you know the paper that's covering the shelf in the kitchen could they be looking at

space if they're gonna be moving in like i would

be looking at that too like my shoes need more room but also um we also witnessed these people who came through and their kids were doing back flips off the couch in the living room

letting their kids run around we went into a house one time this was years ago and it was a gorgeous house walked inside and it had the ugliest decorative like guy standing in the front of the house like it was like this old bald dude with like you know like a mustache and stuff like that and then when we met the owner it was him they he had his own statue of himself

wait that was in the house what yes actually spectacular and actually uh my buddy todd

bardis uh his parents i didn't know until years later lived next to the guy and that was the guy the guy had his own like little statue that was in the front of the house and i remember saying to chelsea i'm going that is like the ugliest statue i've ever seen and i'm like oh that's the man who owns the house it was it was wild like the person had his own thing i'm going man i should get that as a present for one of you guys for uh for christmas or something adam are you a realtor

i am not but when i was buying a house my realtor told me to open every cabinet and every door like you want to see if they work you want to see if the inside looks good do they do a quick paint on the outside and that inside is trash do the doors work like i was told essentially if you're interested in the house save yourself the time and go through all that because half of the crap might not work and you'd be wasting your time that's a good point yeah what's happening at

um you got to put 20 down need an fha loan what's going on yeah so my father-in-law um it was his 60th birthday and his boss thought it'd be funny to give him a bucket like a huge bucket of fake money from a movie set and he's an Italian man and you know his his parents are from Italy so they just thought oh this would be funny making you know Italian mafia kind of like hey we got your money well when my in-laws were selling their house the people walking through it got scared when they walked through they had like a big walk-through closet and they told the realtor oh we don't want to do business with these people they're probably drug dealers so when they left my the realtor called my in-laws and was like um so you guys didn't get an offer Based off of the bucket of money Is there something you should tell me about They like died laughing They said no it's all fake But it looks

So I had a friend who was a She's a realtor And she told me one of her crazy stories one time, and I still sometimes can't believe it, they had an open house, and they had made all the guests aware to the open house that they had cameras, you know, throughout the facility of the house, no big deal, and a couple comes in, she noticed that they had been kind of gone a while, but didn't think anything of it, and when they reviewed the footage, they found that they had used the master bedroom to their own devices.

Oh, they actually went in there and had a little adult fun in there, huh?

Yeah, and when they were questioned about it, they were like, we just wanted to try out the comfortability of the bed, and the realtor was like, well, the bed doesn't come I've heard that that happens.

Birdie, you'll have to ask your friend this, but I've heard that it's happened more than once to many realtors where they found out that the house that was being sold, that people went in there and got a little crazy thinking, let me see. Oh, yeah, I'm definitely sure of it. Yeah.
