All right, it's Mojo in the Morning show. Five Lies Tell Your Mom, The War of the Roses, Second Date Update, Dirty on the 30. Make sure that you're listening to Mojo in the Morning. Megan, parents reading texts.

00:01:53 - 00:02:03 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, this is happening actually to a friend of mine and her relationship, which i think is actually insane how old's your friend my age she's like a few years younger than

00:02:03 - 00:02:10 | Speaker 5:

me really so 20-ish years old and her parents read her texts no no her boyfriend's mom is reading

00:02:10 - 00:03:42 | Speaker 4:

the text that she's having with her boyfriend yeah a great question phenomenal question a question that i could not stop asking throughout the night as she's telling me the story so she's over at her and i want to say mother-in-law she's not married to this guy it's her boyfriend but It's just going to make the story easier to tell. Nailed it. But she was over at her, like, mother-in-law's house, and they were sitting talking. Her mother-in-law kept dropping these, like, weird references in the conversation. Stuff about weed, stuff about... And at first, it could come off as, like, maybe just asking questions or maybe just trying to learn more about it. But then she's like, these are very specific questions. This is weird. And it's parts of conversations that she has had with her boyfriend via text. so it's becoming more and more clear to her that his mother has been reading their text messages did she call it out to him um no because she's kind of stuck in this weird place of like do i start a fight over this what like it's the holidays which is always super unfortunate like i think she'll bring it up after the new year's but it's very very weird that her grown ass boyfriend is having his text messages read by that's crazy what he knows it or not that's what I was going to say, does he have a rule that he has to plug his phone in the kitchen and can't bring technology to the bedroom like I have for my kids? Like, what is it that is making, how is she, how does she have access to his phone? He lives on his own. So I'm guessing they're on like an account together or something. Maybe there's an iPad around there somewhere logged in. That's weird.

00:03:42 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 5:

Or I have to tell you this, from a dad of sons and sons that share a lot with their mom, you think he's sharing these text messages.

00:03:52 - 00:04:02 | Speaker 4:

That's what I wonder. i wonder that's what i wonder even that okay so maybe it's not the text maybe it's just the stuff she's referencing the text i didn't even think of it that way i was like they've got an ipad

00:04:02 - 00:04:33 | Speaker 5:

somewhere who is a grown-ass person whose parents still read their text messages that's crazy yeah or you know who's dating somebody that's uh that's doing that 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 is the telephone number and um god i don't know if mom should be reading all the text messages between the two did she ever send anything that might be of course she does really oh mama's

00:04:33 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 4:

seen the tops yeah but i think that's well now the only good part of this conversation is you guys are like well maybe he's just been telling his mom and i think now i'm like i hope that's the case for her because that's the first thing i thought was that's worse how many times have you sent inappropriate things to him that she's now seeing.

00:04:48 - 00:04:56 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. That's worse to me. If he running back and telling mommy all the things that they talk about, then mom just, you know, getting in his phone. Yeah. That's weaker behavior.

00:04:56 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

Does she like this guy enough to deal with mom?

00:05:00 - 00:05:03 | Speaker 4:

because she's going to be with them in their relationship all the time.

00:05:03 - 00:05:09 | Speaker 8:

I've dated a mama's boy before. It's the worst thing imaginable. It truly is the worst.

00:05:09 - 00:05:17 | Speaker 6:

Can y'all tell me what that means? That's why I'm asking because I have a great relationship with my mom, but I don't consider myself a mama's boy. Shut up.

00:05:17 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 8:

Do you let your mom meddle? Yes. Do you let your mom meddle?

00:05:22 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 6:

When you say let, because I can tell my mom all the time, stop this, stop that. Okay, so you have a backbone.

00:05:28 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 7:

So, no, the answer is you don't. If your mom tried to meddle in your personal life, you would stop her. That's the difference. You can be a mama's boy and love your mom and have a great relationship with your mom. But if you don't have a boundary and if you guys are codependent on each other, that's the unhealthy mama's boy.

00:05:45 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 8:

I'm not fighting with your mother in our relationship because her and I don't see eye to eye on something and you don't stand up to her.

00:05:52 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 7:

And by the way, your friend needs to absolutely not wait until after the holiday to have this conversation with her boyfriend.

00:05:58 - 00:06:01 | Speaker 4:

No way. Hey, what's up, Carlos?

00:06:02 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 3:

Hey, guys. You know, we was discussing earlier about we need to communicate more. The girlfriend can't just assume what's going on. The son could be visiting mom once a week and set his phone down going to the bathroom. Mom could be sneaking in the phone. We don't know, but we can't assume.

00:06:19 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 4:

There's all kinds of things. I would bet that it's not mom reading his text messages. I think he's sharing these text messages.

00:06:26 - 00:06:29 | Speaker 3:

But that's another assumption, though. That's another assumption.

00:06:29 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 4:

And I get it. So you think that she needs to say something to him? Like, why is it that your mom, coincidentally, is bringing this up?

00:06:36 - 00:06:48 | Speaker 8:

She absolutely wants to. It's the holidays, guys. I don't care. We have these conversations all the time. I don't care. No, because if this gets ruined, then mom has more fuel as to why she's the bad guy. She ruined the holidays.

00:06:48 - 00:06:58 | Speaker 7:

So she's just like, we'll address this in a few weeks. But the conversation doesn't have to be with his mom. It needs to be with him. I mean, it can just be as simple as, it's making me uncomfortable that your mom, like, knows.

00:06:58 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 4:

Knows all this. Jennifer.

00:06:59 - 00:07:01 | Speaker 7:

You know. Yes.

00:07:02 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 4:

What did you want to say?

00:07:05 - 00:07:28 | Speaker 2:

My soon-to-be husband is a mama's boy. So bad. Like, he works downtown, so on his way home, he has to stop at his mother's house every single day. He never comes home first. He stops there. he eats dinner and then he acts like he's hungry when he gets home and then he doesn't eat wait so

00:07:28 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 4:

your husband is such a mama's boy he stops off at his mom's house she feeds his belly and then he comes home and fakes it that he doesn't didn't eat anything over at mom's house you can't cook yes yeah are you not a good cook no i'm a very good cook uh let's ask him yeah nah bro you're not making what he like do you think mom knows all the details about your relationships i guarantee you if if she's feeding him she's talking about you and she's probably

00:07:56 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 2:

saying they do i've read messages between them too what does she say about you we argued one time and this was like just maybe a few weeks ago she had texted him and said you know what's going on son he's like nothing mom just having a bad day and she was like you know you could do bad all by yourself and get you an apartment.

00:08:20 - 00:08:23 | Speaker 8:

What did he say back?

00:08:25 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 2:

He was like, no, mom, I'm doing I'm fine. It'll be okay.

00:08:29 - 00:08:32 | Speaker 6:

That was it. Is this like a potential deal breaker for you?

00:08:33 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 2:

No, I love this man. Like, we've been together for maybe almost six years now. And he's a great guy.

00:08:43 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 5:

Well, I got some advice for you. Take the raisins out the potato salad and season the chicken.

00:08:48 - 00:08:49 | Unknown:

Everything will be good.

00:08:50 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 5:

You did not just cut her off.

00:08:52 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 1:

She was so bad.

00:08:53 - 00:08:54 | Unknown:

You hung up on her.

00:08:55 - 00:08:57 | Speaker 2:

Girl, we know you don't put raisins in the potato salad.

00:08:57 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 1:
