All right, Mojo in the Morning Show. It's fun to, you know, hear my son with you guys and Ashley and Jed and all those guys to mix. For the people that don't listen to Detroit's Channel 955, so we're on in the morning. uh you know like we are in your city but then in the afternoon uh joe my son and then uh jed and ashley his two best friends do a show together and they do a morning show in another city they do a morning show out of tampa florida and when i got sick at jingle ball um tony uh said you know what let's have everybody go in and recap jingle ball oh it's so much fun putting the two shows together it was just how much fun how weird was that for you who's known joey since he was five

years old yeah we addressed that early in the show we talked about the fact that he used to sit here next to me sometimes you would bring your son in when he was six years old sitting next to me in the chair watching us do radio and then i he was in control we put him in there in front of the all the buttons and computers let him run the show and it was what he said he couldn't get out of his head that like he watched us do radio for so many years and now he's running the mojo on the

morning show and i was like i loved it i thought that it was wild that i will never forget and i will never forget this dom theater was one of our first bosses mentor friend of ours unbelievable guy um when he told me that i should teach joe how to run a control board he's like you should teach him how to run a control board he goes i he goes i think you know that would be like one of the coolest things and i did i taught him how to run a uh run a control board and uh that was kind of his first passion now chelsea wishes that she had married a doctor do taxes yeah taught her or yeah but it was also taught him how to uh balance a checkbook would have been probably i mean we did

a lot of recap of our jingle ball and and i think listeners have heard us talk a lot about it but the one thing that was really fun that you didn't get to hear about because you were out sick was seeing you and joe on stage together i mean it's just surreal like you don't see a lot of that But in any business where you see them walking in dad's shoes.

The only time you see it is car dealerships. Car dealerships always get passed on to their kids. And then their kids all of a sudden become. I'm Marty Feldman and Joe is Jay. But, no, it's wild how that does happen because, yeah, you don't see it. It's not in media that much. Although in television it is in some markets. You'll see some TV people. Like in Chicago, there's a couple of major television people that have had that. But can I tell you the funniest? You know that guy that was telling us what to do when we were on stage, the big good-looking black dude that was back there? Loved him. He was so nice. He works for iHeart in New York. And I kept saying to him, hey, this is my son. And he didn't believe me. He thought I was kidding him. He's like, oh, whatever. And so then the one time when we went up and introduced Kid Leroy, and I said, here, this is pretty cool. I'm up here with Mike.

kid introducing a kid and we came back and he goes you weren't lying to me i thought he was like he looked at me like i was crazy at one point but i i um i loved having him here it was chelsea and i both really enjoyed uh uh having you know all three of them uh hanging out and got a chance to spend time with them i just wish that i didn't get sick because it would have been fun to have everybody come in and still be in here with them uh with you know those guys but um joey's coming back for Christmas, and I bring this up because I'm about to talk about something right now. A study just came out that says that if parents want their kids who are in Gen Z to come for the holidays, you're going to have to pay them this year. Yes. What do you mean by that? Half of Gen Z plan to go home for the holidays, but a lot of them will only be doing it If mom or dad put it on their dime, according to new research, this is from Credit Karma.

What's the problem?

41% of them are relying on their parents or relatives to pay for their travel accommodations in order to get them to come home. And what's the problem? I love Megan saying this. By the way, I feel like this is always in my family anyway. I feel like Chelsea and I are always ended up, hey, we'll pay for your ticket or whatever. or Jacob coming home, you know, we'll pay for you to get back home from Chicago.

Yeah.

At what point does that stop, though?

Well, as soon as our financial situations start to match. Because I don't know what it's like in your family, but I'm not making Scott Mick money.

What would Scott Mick, if you told Scott Mick, I'm not coming for Christmas, and I know that you guys live in the same city, but if you said, I'm not coming for Christmas unless you pay for me to come, what would he say to you?

Well, here's the thing. I'm very, very lucky that one of the benefits of my dad's job is that he travels a lot, so he has a bunch of frequent flyer miles. So I know that man would fly me home because I am the favorite child, and he loves me.

You should ask him for gas money.

No, he wouldn't do that. He wouldn't do that at all? He wouldn't do that. He wouldn't actually pay out of pocket for me to come.

Spike, you should call your mom and dad, because I know you go back to Philadelphia to go visit your family. You should call your mom and dad and say, Not coming in this year unless you guys pay for my tickets And see what dad says

It's different Gen Z and baby millennials Because nobody likes it when I call it I want to be Gen Z I'm not on the cusp apparently But us young millennials and Gen Z's Don't have the financial stability In this economy

Now we know why Megan's been wanting to be Gen Z forever Because she wants to be part of this

It wouldn't work for me Because for the last few years I've given my parents plane tickets for Christmas

to come visit us see what you do to your parents eventually you pay for them because apparently

the greatest generation didn't save any money this you know saying they gotta they gotta take my money i gotta raise kids and raise parents but no you megan wants so desperately to be that helpless 21 year old with no responsibilities why is it crap on the young people pay my bills i'm not crapping on young people i'm crapping on you because you are way older than the people you claim to be. You're 30, Maddie. Be 30. I understand that generation. I have two daughters that age. I understand the trying to pay rent and all that stuff now.

So what age do you think it stops? Truly.

I hate to say this because I'm not going to do the whole I walked both ways uphill. Yeah, yeah, but... But I do want you to know that I moved out of my parents' house when I was 16 years old.

No, but times are different now.

And I get it. And I moved out, and then I moved across the country when I was 20 to go to Arizona. And when I came home to visit my dad, I had to buy the plane ticket. I'll never forget. I never knew what a plane ticket cost because the only time I was on a plane was when the company flew me there for a job. And when I bought that plane ticket, I didn't know what I was going to do because it was so expensive to do it. But I will say this. If I could, I'd take the money. I'd take it and I'd run. I'd be out of there so fast.

Just so I'm clear, it's wrong if I do it, but if you do it, it's fine. No. Got it.

You're right. I agree with you. I agree. You know what? We raised our kids a certain way, and we ended up loving them. I don't know why we do, but we love them, and we love them home. And if I wasn't married to Chelsea, if Chelsea and I were divorced, I wouldn't pay for crap anymore. They'd be on their own. They'd be orphaned.

Ask me how much my college education cost compared to my father's college education.

They stood there and talked to us in the rain. And I just thought, you know, that reflects their parenting, I think. And I think you and Chelsea have done an amazing job.

I credit all their moms. Chelsea, Jed's mom, and Ashley's mom have done it all because all their dads are a-holes. But no, but aren't they great? And they're a lot of fun, too. They are.

They're so genuine and so sweet. And just really cool people
