This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

I would say Bishop State is like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, put in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be there you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State, with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four-year.

It's Mojo in the morning. I feel like I complain about my kids a lot, and I really don't have bad kids. Like, I'm lucky that, you know, they all three of them have accomplished what they've wanted to accomplish in their lives, that they all three, you know, haven't been in jail yet. We, you know, you never know, you know, and that they're happy. That's the biggest thing. I just want my kids happy. But dad's not happy. I pay the family cell phone bill.

OK, here we go.

All right. Listen, one day this is going to happen with you and Josiah. You're going to get upset about this. So all three of my kids are on my plan and never pick up my phone calls whenever I try to call them. If I call Joe, Jacob, or Luke, I either ring a bunch of times and then go to their voicemail or they even bump me straight to their voicemail.

Oh, that's a big no-no.

And then they'll send me sometimes a text going, can't talk. And they don't explain to me why they can't talk. They don't even explain. They won't even give me a, hey, I'll call you in an hour or whatever it is. I'm in class. I'm going to class. Yeah. They're in class. I get it. But I know they're not in class. You want to know how I know they're not in class? Let me say this to you. Oh, you're standing up.

I have been, and it just happened to me yesterday, and this is why I bring this up. I was trying to get a hold of Luke, and he wasn't answering his phone. And then finally I realized, oh, he's home. So I started walking upstairs to his room while I'm calling him, while I'm ringing his phone. He is laying on his bed holding his phone on Snapchat or Twitter or something. And he saw my phone, and you can see up at the top. You know how it shows up at the top? It says, Dad calling. And he didn't pick up my phone. Is this something that is common?

Yes.

Have you? Really? Y'all don't want nothing. Do you ever pick up your mom's phone calls?

I always pick up my mom's phone calls. God forbid that one day I don't, something happens. But here's the thing. Nine times out of ten, you guys don't want anything. What are you talking about? You don't want anything serious. When you called Luke yesterday, what did you really want to talk to him about?

I wanted to know because Chelsea was going out with Jessica for their girls' night, and I wanted to see what he wanted for dinner. Exactly. You don't want to. He don't care.

See, but that's important because then whatever Mojo DoorDash is for dinner, Luke's not going to like. And then he'll just DoorDash. No, and then it becomes an argument of if you would have answered your phone. you could have had some say in the decision of what we were ordering for dinner or i'll order

for myself and then he all of a sudden says he's hungry now i have to door dash twice so it becomes kind of a pain in the ass all right i i know we got some some uh you know high school kids that probably listen to the show right now all right if you're listening or college kids listening to the show if you're listening to the show right now and you don't pick up your parents phone calls why are you not picking up your parents phone calls do you understand that your parents worked long and hard to pay for that phone bill and you don't pick up their phone now i will say

my mom does not pay for my phone bill and she has not for a very long time but to your point kev sometimes she will call and call and call and by the third time i'm like okay some

is wrong or i'll get a text that says call me back and i'll pick up thinking it's an emergency and it's i saw something at the home goods that i think you would like and i'm like mom you called me three times and sent me a text i thought you were in the hospital

nine times out of ten parents do not want but it's something at home goods which i get very excited about but not an emergency my mom does this thing where she'll like text me and at the end of her text message, she'll put respond. I love her. It's still not that deep. I have a great

story. Vince Lucido one time told me a story. Vince from Lucido Fine Jewelry. I love him. When his son Joey was driving in his car down Hall Road and Vince was driving next to him, calling him and watching Joey look at the phone and going shake off his head and putting

My name is Patrick Pettway, and I am getting my Associates of Science and General Education with an emphasis in business administration. To me, it was a no-brainer. When you go out here and you're looking for funding to go back to college as a 40-year-old man, I got six people in my household. The extra money just doesn't just grow out of trees. For me to be able to be accepted through FAFSA and to have Bishop State pay for all of my tuition, not only that, but the curriculums, you know, they make it so easy to understand on their website.
