00:01:47 - 00:02:02 | Speaker 8:

Are you guys the type of people that have ever had the crap scared out of you? Like, literally the crap scared out of you? Driving. Literally? Oh, yeah. Like, literally. Like, literally, Megan? Crap scared out of you. Poopy right there.

00:02:02 - 00:02:04 | Speaker 7:

Not literally. No, no.

00:02:05 - 00:02:28 | Speaker 8:

Oh, literally happens when you're driving in and you slide and you don't think that you can actually pull it together, which I always forget. And I don't know if you guys have ever done this at all just for the sake of seeing if you know. If you're starting to see that your rear end is sliding to the right, are you supposed to turn your wheels along with that?

00:02:28 - 00:02:38 | Speaker 6:

you turn into your back end I would have to think about that and by that time I had already crashed if your back end is going to the right you turn to the right

00:02:38 - 00:02:41 | Speaker 7:

you go towards your back end

00:02:41 - 00:02:46 | Speaker 6:

my brain is I'm very bad with spatial awareness I'm still not thinking about this right

00:02:46 - 00:02:54 | Speaker 7:

front of the car my fingertips back of the car my wrist if your back end starts going to the right you turn your wheel towards the way

00:02:54 - 00:02:58 | Speaker 6:

towards it I'm glad I had that refresher today

00:02:58 - 00:03:07 | Speaker 7:

And pump your brakes, don't hold your brakes. That's the one. So while you're, you pump while your back end is moving. When it starts moving the other direction. Are you sure? I'm positive.

00:03:07 - 00:03:08 | Speaker 8:

With anti-lock brakes, are you sure?

00:03:09 - 00:03:11 | Speaker 7:

You pump your brakes, do not hold them down.

00:03:12 - 00:03:22 | Speaker 8:

Okay, because I've heard opposite with anti-lock brakes. I've heard that the pumping part is not the, is sometimes not good.

00:03:22 - 00:03:27 | Speaker 6:

Well, I think human nature, you just slam on your brakes, unfortunately. That's what all of us would do.

00:03:27 - 00:03:51 | Speaker 7:

And I'm so grateful when I, and I don't know the rules in Michigan, because I actually think they're a little bit different when you guys get your temps versus your driver's license. But in Ohio, you got your temps at 15 and a half, and a half was in the wintertime. First thing my dad did was he took me out to the boonies while it was snowing, and he said, slam on your brakes. Like, let's learn how to get control of your vehicle. And I'm so grateful, because I was never afraid then to drive on bad roads.

00:03:52 - 00:03:55 | Speaker 8:

We did Oakland Community College parking lot Waterford.

00:03:55 - 00:03:57 | Speaker 7:

Is that the place to go?

00:03:57 - 00:04:39 | Speaker 8:

Yeah, that was it. And it was, it was basically drive it as fast as you want and then slam on it. And it was like, that was like always the coolest one. The funniest is the kid, when I did that with Joe, Jacob and Luke, Luke was the one that was the craziest of it. He was, and then he's like screaming, like driving the General Lee or something. I, um, I will tell you that, uh, I, you never know in this situation, like, but you get so you get to a point where you you get scared because you don't know what's going on and your worry is that you're gonna end up banking into a side of the wall you know remember when i went

00:04:39 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 6:

into the tree in my neighborhood oh yeah and i i smashed my car so bad that they had to like there was no way out of my car like the way that the doors on both sides crunched in i couldn't get out my front doors or my back doors i had to have the police and fire department come and get me out of my car these are jaws and i still came into work afterwards people

00:05:00 - 00:05:07 | Speaker 3:

Do you know what I have in my car, in my Tahoe, and I bought? I have a glass-breaking tool. I do, really.

00:05:07 - 00:05:08 | Speaker 5:

The one that you can, like, cut your seatbelt?

00:05:09 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 3:

I have that. It does. I bought it on Amazon. So it's this little red thing, and I keep it in my side compartment. And it's, if I, because I live, you know, in West Bloomfield. There's, like, 8,000 lakes there.

00:05:21 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 4:

Yeah.

00:05:22 - 00:05:33 | Speaker 3:

I drive Old Orchard Trail, which you go right by Orchard Lake, and there's no guardrails. There's nothing there. And I had a thought that if I slide into that lake, I'm a goner.

00:05:34 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 2:

It's over.

00:05:34 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 5:

That is a really smart idea.

00:05:36 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 2:

Man, they used to have those. I don't know if they still got them, but headrests. You used to be able to remove your headrests and the two poles that lock your headrests into the seat. Those are supposed to be used to break out the window in the event that you're locked in your car for some reason.

00:05:50 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 5:

Have you ever seen anybody test out all of these theories?

00:05:53 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:05:54 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 5:

Almost none of them work.

00:05:55 - 00:05:59 | Speaker 2:

I've seen that one kind of work on Instagram and TikTok and stuff like that. People use it.

00:06:00 - 00:06:16 | Speaker 3:

I always loved that show, Mythbusters, when they would do something like that. 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. Here's a question for you. Question is, when's the last time that you had the crap scared out of you? To the point that you were like, okay, I can't believe this.

00:06:17 - 00:06:24 | Speaker 5:

Every day. I can't believe I got the crap scared out of you. Every day in my house. Isn't that just being a parent? It's just a fun game that my husband likes to play.

00:06:25 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 3:

When he does that, when he comes out.

00:06:27 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 5:

Every day, yes. And I'm, why am I, I startle so easily. I think that there's like some, truly, there's something wrong with me. Like it's a, it's a thing.

00:06:37 - 00:06:37 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:06:38 - 00:06:41 | Speaker 5:

I've never, I've never crapped myself, but thank you.

00:06:41 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 3:

Never splat. Never. No. Thomas, what's going on, Thomas? Hi, buddy. How are you doing, man?

00:06:51 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 1:

I'm doing great. How are you doing?

00:06:53 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 3:

Fantastic. Were we right, or was Megan right on the pumping the brakes part?

00:06:58 - 00:07:16 | Speaker 1:

Listen, all I know is that what you want to do is you want to get in the empty parking lot and, like, throw on that e-brake and just do the fast and nefarious thing and just, like, slide all across that parking lot, man. The adrenaline rush is sick.

00:07:17 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 4:

This doesn't even feel, like, educational. This just feels like you're looking for a thrill.

00:07:22 - 00:07:28 | Speaker 1:

Oh, definitely. No, if you're going to crap your pants, you're going to do it out of excitement and not out of fear.

00:07:30 - 00:07:54 | Speaker 3:

That is good. Thank you for the call. I appreciate it. Grab Lisa, because Lisa, I think, because Megan brought up the pump and the brakes thing. And I don't, you know, being in Detroit, you got to be careful what you say because these engineers will call you out. What's up, Lisa? How you doing? I'm good. How are you? Good. Do you pump the brakes or just press the brakes? I can't hear you. Did you leave?

00:07:54 - 00:07:55 | Speaker 5:

No, I think we lost her.

00:07:56 - 00:07:57 | Speaker 3:

We lost you? Are you there?

00:07:58 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 5:

I hear her car, but I don't hear her.

00:08:01 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 3:

Can you imagine if she got into it right there? Like we just, we gave her her accident by just calling us up here on the show. I apologize. Melanie, what's going on, Melanie? How you doing? There's Mojo in the morning. Hi, Mel.

00:08:16 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 4:

Hi, good morning. How are you?

00:08:18 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 3:

Good.

00:08:18 - 00:08:46 | Speaker 4:

What's going on? Good morning. Good morning. Hi. So, yeah, it was about four or five years ago, I was heading out of Pontiac, and I hit some black ice. I did about 360, about three or four times, and by the grace of God, I ended up still going straight. And then I made it to Van Dyke, and I had the van next to me screaming at me, Hey! Hey! And I rolled out my window. We are right off the bat today.

00:08:47 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 2:

I'm scotch over here.

00:08:48 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 3:

That is crazy, Sped. That is the craziest spit I've ever seen. By the way, I've seen some of that stuff on 59, man. On Hall Road is like a nutcase road. It is. People drive like maniacs.

00:09:03 - 00:09:03 | Speaker 4:

Mm-hmm.

00:09:04 - 00:09:08 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. Thank you. Well, listen, Melanie, be safe out there, okay?

00:09:08 - 00:09:12 | Speaker 4:

Yes, thank you. I'm headed to Bow Lyle right now to take pictures of Detroit.

00:09:13 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 3:

Oh, that's so funny.

00:09:14 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 2:

Oh, that'd be nice. See the sunrise.

00:09:17 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 3:

That's the great thing when it's 20 degrees below zero.

00:09:19 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 2:

Hey, she'll be the only one out there getting a shot.

00:09:22 - 00:09:23 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, that's fantastic.

00:09:24 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 4:

That's when the stars are the brightest.

00:09:27 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 3:

When the stars are at night. Woman dies of hypothermia on Belle Isle.

00:09:32 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 5:

But at least she got the perfect photo.

00:09:35 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 3:

Brandon, what's up, Brandon? How you doing? What's going on, buddy? Hi. Hello, Joe.

00:09:42 - 00:09:52 | Speaker 1:

What's going on? Hey, hi, bud. What's going on? I wasn't sure how long I was supposed to wait and listen. Hi, my name's Brandon. Long time first, long time listener for a song called.

00:09:52 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 2:

Hi, Brandon. Brandon's on the phone.

00:09:56 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

So, unfortunately, as much as I love Megan.

00:10:00 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 2:

She is wrong. Okay. Anti-lock brakes were designed to, once you put your foot on the pedal, it pumps the brakes for you, so you do not have to.

00:10:12 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 5:

There you go.

00:10:13 - 00:10:35 | Speaker 2:

Because most people freak out. In older vehicles, they didn't have anti-lock brakes, which you have to learn how to pump the brakes correctly. You know, sometimes you let on them hard. Sometimes you let off, and you go back and forth. But newer vehicles with anti-lock brakes, which is why when you hit the brakes hard, you'll hear a loud vibration noise and your pedal will bounce.

00:10:35 - 00:10:36 | Speaker 5:

Why is that the new every day?

00:10:38 - 00:10:41 | Speaker 2:

How do you know if your car is an old car or an old car?

00:10:41 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 5:

I was going to say, I've never had that happen today, so I've only had oldies apparently.

00:10:47 - 00:10:57 | Speaker 2:

Anything in the 90s and up anymore is going to have anti-lock brakes. Okay, so what happens if you still pump it? Brandon, what happens if you still pump it?

00:10:58 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 7:

I don't know if you can hear me.

00:10:59 - 00:11:40 | Speaker 2:

See, some vehicles now, too, like anti-lock brake systems won't work. There'll be a fault somewhere along the line, whether it's in the wheel or in the anti-lock brake system. And sometimes they don't always work for people, so you do have to pump it yourself. Sometimes, like Tad was saying, you know, you can still pump it yourself, too. I do. I mean, just depending on each situation's variant. Like somebody was saying earlier, the best way to learn is just like having when you were a kid and you had a go-kart or something. Go in the parking lot and play around. Go find an empty parking lot and just turn that wheel. If it's the brakes, whip around, see what that car's going to do or that vehicle's going to do in the snow so you know what to do when it happens on the road.

00:11:40 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 7:

All right. Well, I appreciate it there. Thanks for calling, Brandon. Thank you. Congratulations on being the first time. Brandon from Pet Boys. Yeah. What do you do, by the way? We are taking all this. We're acting like you're a Mr. Professional. What do you do for a living? No, it's gone. Oh, okay. I have no idea. Hi. That's what I do. I call radio stations. And what I do is I give them the wrong info. The people calling it.

00:12:05 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 5:

I love that he said, you're wrong, but also you should probably do it.

00:12:09 - 00:12:16 | Speaker 7:

Because it doesn't always work. It doesn't seem like a bad thing to pump the brakes, though. Regardless if you got this anti-lock or not. I'm a pumper, bro.

00:12:16 - 00:12:20 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. He's like, that is wrong. You should because it doesn't always work.

00:12:21 - 00:12:54 | Speaker 7:

I get scared. I honestly get scared when I'm pulling down the street here at the radio station. Not so much to slide off the side of the road. All of the potholes are now covered by some of the snow that's on the road. And I know what's going to happen. You're going to hit one of those damn things and it's going to blow out your tire or do something kind of crazy. Because there's a bajillion. And this, by the way, you guys don't think that the temperatures that we have right now are going to cause craters in the road? I mean, we're going to see it. So, what, another day of this crap? Is that the story as far as the forecast is concerned?

00:12:54 - 00:12:58 | Speaker 3:

I mean, tomorrow we're warming up to 25. Woo!

00:12:58 - 00:13:16 | Speaker 7:

That's going to feel balmy. Hey, let's get it. I'm going to wear short sleeves. But you know what? That's going to happen. That's when you're going to be driving down Gratiot, and Gratiot's going to have a monster-sized crater hole inside of that thing. Call Big Gretch up and tell her, here come the potholes.

00:13:16 - 00:13:45 | Speaker 6:

Shout out to Big Gretch. The first season of the X Games League is ending in New Orleans, and only one team walks away champion. July 24th through 26th at the Caesar Superdome, watch the world's best skaters, BMX riders, and moto athletes battle for the title.
