So I had kind of a surprise happened to me. Our washer was not working. And so I had to get somebody to come out and fix our washer. So, and I never know like who to call. So I called the place that we ended up buying it from the appliance place that we went to it to get it from. And they recommended this company to come out to my house. I called up there. They scheduled an appointment. It was yesterday. To my surprise, is when the person came to fix my washer, a woman was at my door. Oh, really? It's a repair woman. Do you call them repair woman or repair man? Person. Person?

I've always just said repair man because it's always been a dude.

But okay, so she's staying in there and this is interesting because whenever things get broken in our house and a person comes to fix it, it's typically a guy that comes and fixes it and it's usually chelsea that's the one home so in this case it was me home chelsea wasn't and it's a woman and honestly i felt kind of weird having her come into my house and i felt like strange that a woman was you know coming into my house and my wife wasn't there at the time so i kind of felt a little bit like oh this is like i

always feel no yeah this is how seriously this is how i always feel because it's usually just me and it's always a guy and then i get i'm like and i'm alone in my house with this right yep

and it's in to me to me it was weird because um uh also it was weird because i always whenever somebody comes and fixes anything at my house or does any kind of service stuff at my house i always offer them food and drink like i don't know if you guys do this i offer water i offer usually, usually I'll say, Hey, is there anything I can get you to drink? Can I get you a bottle water? Can I get you something to eat? Whatever it is. Like I want to make them home in my house, you know, cause they're going to be fixing it. I figure if I do that, they're also going to do a, a better job. So I shouldn't be offering drugs. So I'm, so I'm there and, and I also also, I also also follow them into usually the area and I'll talk to them a little bit cause I want to see what they're doing. I want to see what's going on. But when I followed her and showed her where the washers were in our washers and dryer room, I felt like I can't stand her because she's going to think I'm like, you know, yeah. So I'm like, well, here we go. I have had it. It was great. And then I'm like, well, are you sure there's anything I can't get you? And then I started like my head started spinning and going. Normally I'd give the guy a bottle of water and like a pack of Cheez-Its. with them i i usually will sit there and watch them the whole time like my my hot water heater um had a an issue it started leaking and i had to call uh chris my buddy to get me somebody to come out and to fix my hot water heater and this guy dave the plumber came out and when dave the plumber was there i want to know what's going on like i want to know why it's leaking so i'm sitting here talking to dave and i'm like a little kid i'm handing them tools you know so am i that makes

me feel like i'm rude that i no i don't leave because then when they're done like i just had family heating cooling truly and electrical like they get a ding because they are a client but like i use them obviously and the guy they're female owned too right that's a female to crystal yes um but it was a guy that came and he came up afterwards and like gave me the lowdown on what was happening with the furnace but I feel like it would be weird if I said yes no no it is working

My name is Medterica Terry LaMille, and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently, even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.
