I saw this and I thought that this was really interesting. Have you guys heard of reverse catfishing? I was reading this about this and it was crazy. So online catfishing is when a person exaggerates about how attractive they are. Matter of fact, sometimes they even like pose as a completely different person, maybe even a different person of a different sex, and they will get into your, you know, dating life or through dating apps. And next thing you know, you're online, you're talking to what you think is going to be this person that turns out to not be them. It's completely, you know, fake. Reverse catfishing, though, is a little bit different. Reverse catfishing operates in the opposite direction when you're trying to come off less attractive than you really are. For instance, you upload a few photos that are really unflattering, like unflattering angles to create an illusion that you've got a double chin or a beer belly. And then when you match or meet up with the people on the first date, he or she will feel like they hit the jackpot, making you look like the find of your life.

00:03:18 - 00:03:20 | Speaker 5:

That is very interesting. Are people doing that?

00:03:21 - 00:03:49 | Speaker 7:

They say that that's now become, according to this online dating, avoid the catfish guy, Kevin Dame. I was reading this story that was post. I think it might have been Wall Street Journal or something like that that did a thing with him. He said that this has become like a bigger thing these days. And what he's found out is that the people who are doing the reverse catfishing are finding, like, better people because they're not finding the superficial. I was going to say they're not as absorbed with the physical appearance.

00:03:49 - 00:03:57 | Speaker 8:

I love posting bad photos of myself. It brings me so much joy when I look absolutely awful. I just think I'm an idiot.

00:03:58 - 00:04:00 | Speaker 7:

Does that? But do you do that on dating?

00:04:00 - 00:04:30 | Speaker 8:

Are you on a dating app again? Yeah. I kind of re-downloaded Hinge. You did? Yeah. Not on there. And I'll be really honest, I took a very, I thought it was hysterical photo of myself at a restaurant recently, and I was sitting with a napkin, like, tucked into my collar, and I'm working on a knife, like, pounding on the table, and I had this crazy expression on my face, and immediately went, crap, I'm trying to get on Love is Blind, I gotta take this down, they're gonna think I'm weird. So I archived a whole bunch of posts, but usually they're posted up there.

00:04:30 - 00:04:30 | Speaker 7:

Did you...

00:04:30 - 00:04:31 | Speaker 8:

I don't think it works in my favor, though.

00:04:31 - 00:04:33 | Speaker 7:

Did you find anybody? No. No?

00:04:34 - 00:04:34 | Speaker 8:

Nobody likes me.

00:04:34 - 00:04:43 | Speaker 7:

So, I have to, but I have to tell you, like, it takes guts to do this reverse catfishing because you're.

00:04:43 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 5:

Because you always want to put your best foot forward. Yeah. Right?

00:04:45 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 7:

And if you are good looking, I mean, I guess if you got a lot of stuff to offer, you know, as far as like, you know, what you think that you can, even if your bad angle is a good angle, so to speak. But I have like four pictures in my life.

00:05:00 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 1:

that I've taken that I actually think are good pictures. There are four pictures. Matter of fact, if you're friends with me on social media and my personal Facebook, my profile picture is the only picture of me that I thought was a really good picture, and I'll never take it down. I will be 80 years old, and they'll say, why do you have your picture from when you were, you know, 42 up on your thing?

00:05:20 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 3:

Is that going to be your funeral pic? Like, I always tell my friends, use this as my funeral pic. Like, on the easel, use this one. If Chelsea and the boys... Because my hair is perfectly curled.

00:05:28 - 00:05:33 | Speaker 1:

Chelsea and the boys in those montage photos that they do. You know how people put poster board pictures?

00:05:33 - 00:05:35 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, now they do them on the screen in the funeral homes.

00:05:36 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 1:

I want the collage, old-fashioned collage. If they do it on the screen, it's got to be the only picture on the screen. And it's got to be on the funeral card that they give you at the end.

00:05:44 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 3:

Oh, yeah. You know what I want? The ones I keep in my car.

00:05:45 - 00:05:47 | Speaker 1:

They're going to be like, he died so young.

00:05:47 - 00:05:48 | Unknown:

Yeah.

00:05:48 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 2:

Mine has a college graduation cap on.

00:05:51 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 5:

Come on, Mom schedules my Lashville appointment.

00:05:53 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 6:

Yeah! On the screen, I just want a QR code to my Instagram.

00:05:58 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 3:

you can go see what oh my god very well curated got so tad nicole this is genius though because i i'm thinking about this and you you you're still you get even if you're putting up less than flattering photos of yourself right like not not the best of the best photos that you have in most of these dating app situations and correct me if i'm wrong you you're still getting to pick who you're going out on a date with yeah yeah so the people doing this really are genius because you're still getting to go on a date with like the guy that you want but it it makes sense that like you're gonna show up yeah be like oh wait a minute gotcha yeah yeah has anybody done that it's like under what's the saying under promise over deliver yes that's right it's that so that's

00:06:47 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 1:

kind of like what you're doing like really you know with uh with your looks has anybody ever had that happen to them where they've gone and they've met up with somebody and they're like holy crap this person is so much more attractive in person and you wonder now after hearing about reverse catfishing if that was something that they were trying to do hi amber tell me that i

00:07:08 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 6:

looked way better in person than my pictures and i don't really compliment or not that no i think

00:07:13 - 00:07:43 | Speaker 1:

it is no i think that's it i think that i would take that as a compliment uh kp i would say that all right all right i i can i say this i hate people like kp though i'm gonna tell you why i hate them because they are they look good all the time and i know that listen if you haven't seen what kp looks like stunning it's disgusting stunning it is absolutely freaking disgusting she's good looking in person she's good looking on social media we hate her we can't stand her

00:07:43 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 2:

we hate her but you also know kp's will be the first to admit that she doesn't wake up that way

00:07:49 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 1:

she has the lashes and the extensions i don't know she made a comment to me the other day she's like about how I just rolled out of bed and I came in, and I'm going, you look better than when I actually go get a haircut and do this.

00:08:01 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 2:

If I say rolled out of bed, me, I look like I rolled from under a truck. Yes, it's like, where do you sleep? Yeah.

00:08:09 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 1:

Amber, what's going on?

00:08:11 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 6:

Good morning. Oh, my gosh, I love you guys so much.

00:08:13 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 1:

Oh, we love you too. Amber, have you been reverse catfished?

00:08:17 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 6:

Yes. So I was in a really long relationship, and I just started dating again like a year ago. and uh i i found that when i put more attractive photos up i found a lot more shallow guys just i don't know it's just my experience so i started putting up photos of myself that like full body pics that show how curvy i was you know pictures without a makeup stuff like that and um i actually kept out the most amazing man that way because he uh he met me the first time wow you are just gorgeous your pictures don't do you justice and i was like oh my god i love

00:08:51 - 00:09:11 | Speaker 1:

I think that that might be the thing to do, guys. This might be the thing. Yeah, if you put together a profile, you know, on whatever dating app you're on, think twice about posting the best picture ever. Especially, I think, don't put pictures up there where you're, you know, putting them through 8,000 filters, too. Doreen?

00:09:13 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 5:

Good morning, guys. Good morning.

00:09:14 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 1:

What's going on?

00:09:16 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 5:

I would actually be disappointed. Because I'm attracted to dad bods I'm not attracted to super hot looking guys The guys I've dated that look good Were buttholes So I would be actually very disappointed Because if I click on your picture And that's my initial attraction Is that picture

00:09:43 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 1:

So if a guy in his picture had a big old bare belly And was hairy all over and then showed up and he looked like he was super sexy hot, well, or not in your eyes, but in other... You would be upset about that. You'd be like, where's the fat guy at in the picture?

00:09:58 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 5:

Absolutely, yes.

00:10:00 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 10:

That's interesting. I wonder if you've got to be in the minority on that, though.

00:10:05 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 3:

No. Really? I get it. If I'm coming into this thinking that we're equals and all of a sudden you're like a Greek god, I'm pissed. Why did I even get dressed up? Because I'm not getting undressed in front of you. Really? I know.

00:10:17 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 8:

You don't feel like you hit a prize. Like, wow.

00:10:19 - 00:10:26 | Speaker 3:

No, because now I know I'm not going to end up in somebody's bed. So that's not a prize. That was just a waste of time.

00:10:26 - 00:10:27 | Speaker 8:

But he's there because he liked you, too.

00:10:28 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 3:

Hmm.

00:10:29 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 10:

I know a lot of guys That say that they have dated girls That didn't like dating them Because they said that they were too good looking So they always felt like they had to be on their A game all the time So the guys were really Really good looking guys They were also, by the way, they had way too big of egos

00:10:45 - 00:10:49 | Speaker 8:

I was going to say If you tell your friends you're way too good looking

00:10:49 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 10:

But there are women though that don't like to date Really good looking guys because they feel like Other women are going to steal them What's up Dennis?

00:10:56 - 00:10:58 | Speaker 1:

Hey, this is Dennis, how you doing?

00:10:58 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 10:

Hi, Dennis. What's going on, Dennis? What's happening?

00:11:01 - 00:11:12 | Speaker 1:

Not much. This happened with me and my wife. I look terrible in pictures, but when she met me, she was like, oh, wow, you look like a supermodel. So it kind of worked out that way.

00:11:12 - 00:11:16 | Speaker 10:

Really? What's the big difference between you in a picture and you not in a picture?

00:11:17 - 00:11:25 | Speaker 1:

When I smile, I just have a real chubby, fat-looking face. But when I don't smile, I don't have a fat, chubby-looking face.

00:11:25 - 00:11:25 | Speaker 10:

Isn't that nice?

00:11:26 - 00:11:36 | Speaker 6:

See, I got a chubby, fat-looking face, but I like it because it makes my wife look better. I'm like the side piece to my wife. So anytime we take a picture, she always looks good, and I look like a chubby, fat-looking face.

00:11:36 - 00:11:42 | Speaker 8:

Has this man not learned from us? He's really learned how to lay on the compliments. He does. Yeah.

00:11:42 - 00:11:48 | Speaker 11:

It took us five years, but we got it. I'm a slow learner. I'm a slow learner. It was a long road.

00:11:49 - 00:11:49 | Speaker 10:

Nicole?

00:11:50 - 00:11:51 | Speaker 11:

Yeah, hi.

00:11:51 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 10:

You did the reverse catfish with your now husband?

00:11:54 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 11:

Yeah, in 2016, I was on the dating apps, and I used to, like, food dig on the dating apps, so I would, like, put just normal pictures of myself just in, like, funny everyday scenarios, like, with dinosaurs or, like, a big pile of ice cream and, like, nothing serious, no, like, hot photos. and went on one date with this one guy and he seemed really nice and now we're married with like a kid and everything. What does it mean to food? You said food dig? Food digging. So I would like go on dates for food. Just for dinners. Okay, okay.

00:12:33 - 00:12:34 | Speaker 1:

That's what I thought you meant.

00:12:34 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 11:

I just wanted to be sure. I love you.

00:12:36 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 8:

Yeah, it's not gold digging. It's just you're looking for a meal.

00:12:39 - 00:12:45 | Speaker 11:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was just, you know, a company, a good meal, you know, the whole bit.

00:12:45 - 00:12:49 | Speaker 10:

I love it. Thank you for the call. Take care of yourself. Yeah. Yeah. All right.
