In the next Rare Well Done, the Thrive Team helps two people with CIDP tackle the tricky issue of friendship. They say the quiet part out loud.

00:00:40 - 00:00:45 | Speaker 4:

In the event my CIDP worsens, my friends might decide it's too much.

00:00:45 - 00:00:54 | Speaker 1:

Get nudged outside their comfort zone. I don't know if I want to. To forge stronger connections. The best thing that's ever happened to me, our friendship.

00:00:54 - 00:00:55 | Speaker 5:

To Rory.

00:00:55 - 00:01:00 | Speaker 1:

Watch Rory and Michelle take on the Friendship Factor on the next episode of Rare Well Done.

00:01:03 - 00:01:33 | Speaker 6:

All right, so we have a new member of our show. Actually, he's not so new. He's coming up on being with the show for a year. Reese, who is our director of social impact. He takes care of all the videos that you see every single day and our social media. and this guy's like all-around hardest working guy that we've ever had here and we love him so much but maybe his family doesn't as much as we do well my dad definitely doesn't that's for sure

00:01:33 - 00:01:50 | Speaker 4:

so here you talk about your dad i don't really have a great relationship with him i haven't talked to him in probably like three years maybe even four years how old were you when your parents got divorced um i think i was 14 okay yeah so he lives around here um he lives in brighton

00:01:50 - 00:02:00 | Speaker 6:

I was surprised when you had COVID that I said to you that your mom and dad checked in and you said my mom just was unbelievable. Totally took care of you. But dad never even checked in.

00:02:01 - 00:02:10 | Speaker 4:

I don't even know if he knew I had COVID. Wow. Did your dad know you work on the show? I have no idea, honestly. Wow. Three years. I'm sure he has an idea because my sister is always with him.

00:02:10 - 00:02:13 | Speaker 6:

Can I adopt you and you be my child? You can. I would love to have you as my child.

00:02:13 - 00:02:14 | Speaker 4:

That's why I'm always like I'm down.

00:02:14 - 00:02:19 | Speaker 6:

All right, cool. So the favorite child at Christmastime, you're obviously not the favorite child.

00:02:19 - 00:02:45 | Speaker 4:

No. My sister is, though, and the last time I went to my dad's for Christmas, I basically walked in. I looked at the fireplace with all these stockings on it, and I realized I was the only one who didn't have a stocking. What? Yes. And he knew you were coming. Yeah. Well, he claims he didn't know I was coming. It doesn't matter. You still have a stocking. You put it up. Either way, you should always have a stocking for your kid. Wow.

00:02:45 - 00:02:57 | Speaker 6:

So that was only part of it, really. How did Christmas bring out that you knew that you were not the favorite child? That's pretty crazy that that happened. How many kids does your dad have? He's got you and your sister.

00:02:57 - 00:02:59 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, and then a stepsister, too.

00:02:59 - 00:03:04 | Speaker 6:

So he had your stepsister, your biological sister. And the dog.

00:03:05 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 4:

He had the dog out there. Him and my stepmom have this French bulldog they're obsessed with. And, yeah, the dog even had a stepfather.

00:03:12 - 00:03:23 | Speaker 6:

Oh, my God. Yep. That is unbelievable, Reese. That's horrible. You know what? Just for that, somebody call Chelsea and tell her we've got to buy another stocking and put Reese up there. It's spelled R-H-Y-S, though.

00:03:23 - 00:03:31 | Speaker 4:

On the bright side, my stepmom doesn't do the best stockings. She's one of those who does a toothbrush and an apple. Oh, that's what she puts it down.

00:03:31 - 00:03:50 | Speaker 6:

That's super exciting. So you're okay with that, haven't you? They got blank, and all I got was blank. Call us up, and let's talk about how you feel like you're the bastard child. the one that gets you know gets the the hand-me-downs so to speak oh it gets better too

00:03:50 - 00:04:13 | Speaker 4:

though what happened so as we're opening presents my sister opens this brand new like five hundred dollar camera and she's not even a camera kind of person like she is really not technically inclined whatsoever whereas everyone knows i love making videos and i do all that stuff for like social media that's your job so basically she gets this fancy camera and i got my license plate tabs

00:04:13 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 6:

How much were your license plate tabs They could be expensive Honestly I did kind of appreciate it

00:04:19 - 00:04:23 | Speaker 4:

So I can't complain too much

00:04:23 - 00:04:36 | Speaker 6:

We all are going to group hug Reese Later after this show I know it's all bad for this guy And if his dad is listening His name is spelled R-H-Y-S Reese do you want to come to my house?

00:04:37 - 00:04:42 | Speaker 5:

I'll make you a stocking We're all putting stockings up for Reese I need someone to record my kids

00:04:42 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 6:

what's up tim hello how you doing buddy how do you know that you're not the favorite child

00:04:51 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 1:

i mean i'm the black sheep of my family man i spent 14 years in the michigan apartment of corrections i haven't been to my family's house in like 17

00:05:00 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 6:

18 years.

00:05:00 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, but do you have a stocking up on the chimney with care in hopes that St. Nicholas soon will be there? Yes, I do. The guy that's been in jail for 14 years has one, but Reese doesn't have one. That's great.

00:05:13 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 1:

I love that.

00:05:13 - 00:05:16 | Speaker 3:

Oh, man. That's crazy. Danielle, what's up?

00:05:17 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 9:

Hi. Yes, my brother always got Nintendos and Game Boys, and I always got magazines and posters because I was a girl, you know? He always got the fun electronics.

00:05:27 - 00:05:32 | Speaker 3:

Is it because boys always get more love or something like that?

00:05:33 - 00:05:38 | Speaker 9:

Something like that. It's easier to shop for, apparently. That's what my sisters used to always say in our house.

00:05:39 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 3:

My sisters always in my house would always say that the boys got everything and the girls got nothing. But Megan, what's up?

00:05:46 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 7:

Hey, so my step-grandma, so she gives all her biological kids, like, diamond tennis bracelets. And then for my Christmas present I got a journal from a garage sale That said 50 cents on it

00:05:58 - 00:06:05 | Speaker 3:

That's awful But it's the thought that counts What's up, Tiffany?

00:06:07 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 5:

Hi, my brother got a $1,000 rifle and a Gaming console I think it was like A Playstation 3 at the time And I got a pair of socks And a chapstick

00:06:21 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 1:

Oh, jeez. What kind of chapstick? Was it the candy cane chapstick?

00:06:25 - 00:06:33 | Speaker 5:

Because that's a really good one. No, it was like the 98 cent, like just generic chapstick.

00:06:33 - 00:06:44 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, socks are stocking stuffers. But if that's the only thing you got in your stocking, well, they've got a good, you know, $1,000 gift. Amanda, listen to this one. Amanda, you definitely are not one of the favorites.

00:06:44 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 6:

00:07:15 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 3:

christmas i'm like i got a scarf what's where that's a that's a huge one but listen to erin's

00:07:23 - 00:07:44 | Speaker 8:

this one's uh funny too erin hey so my mom moved down to columbus and she moved with my brother and sister so last year we decided that we were going to have christmas at my house so they all drove up here my mom handed me this big huge heavy bag and i'm like what is this and she's laughing and I legitly pulled out a Meijer brand bag of 10-pound potatoes.

00:07:45 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 3:

Wait, that's what you got and everybody else got?

00:07:49 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 8:

My brother and sister sat in my living room and opened up brand-new iPhones.

00:07:53 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 7:

Oh, jeez. Wait, that's really bad.

00:07:57 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 8:

She couldn't even get the Idaho brand or, like, the Idaho brand. It was Meijer brand.

00:08:04 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 3:

Reese, take 30 seconds here right now, And I want you to shout out to the listeners why they should send you a gift for this holiday season. And let's see if any listener will send Reese a gift.

00:08:15 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 1:

I think the listeners should send me a gift because my dad is an arsehole. And I think that I'm a very appreciative guy. So whatever they send me, I'll be very appreciative of. And yeah, I like edibles. I like pretty much anything. So be free to hook it up.
