I'm Mange Shachigular, and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blues owners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.

00:00:49 - 00:00:54 | Speaker 1:

I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know.

00:00:54 - 00:01:00 | Speaker 5:

Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

00:01:02 - 00:01:32 | Speaker 2:

For years, The Unhoused has been presented as a monolith in mainstream media. We The Unhoused is a podcast that's changing the narrative. I'm Theo Henderson, and I created the show while I was unhoused on the streets of Los Angeles. We've grown into a two-time Webby Award-winning podcast, the only podcast that shares unhoused stories and news from the unhoused perspective. Listen to Weezy and Howl's on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

00:01:32 - 00:02:07 | Speaker 4:

00:02:08 - 00:02:11 | Speaker 3:

It's the second date update. A mojo in the morning.

00:02:12 - 00:02:28 | Speaker 6:

All right, time now for second date update. Why are you not getting a call back after you went on a date? We're going to find out this morning here. Paige went out on a date with a guy by the name of Nathan. and now is not getting called back. And, Paige, how did you guys meet?

00:02:30 - 00:02:32 | Speaker 8:

We met at a bar. Okay.

00:02:32 - 00:02:36 | Speaker 6:

And you guys went out just once, or did you have a couple times together?

00:02:37 - 00:02:47 | Speaker 8:

No, we just had our first date at a restaurant, and it was going really well, and we went out for ice cream. It was really nice, and it was sweet.

00:02:47 - 00:02:53 | Speaker 6:

It's kind of cute. And now he's not calling you back? Did you sense anything that happened when you guys were out together that might have gone wrong?

00:02:55 - 00:03:03 | Speaker 8:

Well, no. So I thought it was going well. And the only thing that I can think of, maybe I was a little bit too flirty.

00:03:04 - 00:03:15 | Speaker 6:

Okay. But I don't know. Well, we'll find out. Nathan is on the phone with us right now. Nathan, will you say hello to Paige? Hello.

00:03:17 - 00:03:17 | Speaker 7:

Hi.

00:03:17 - 00:03:31 | Speaker 6:

nathan page was worried that she was just a little too flirty with you is there something that is going on right now that's making you not call her or is it just a misunderstanding you're busy and what's happening

00:03:31 - 00:03:38 | Speaker 9:

uh yeah there's something going on for sure that kind of made me a little uncomfortable

00:03:38 - 00:03:39 | Speaker 6:

and what is that

00:03:39 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 9:

i don't know she just uh wasn't very up front about something that i don't know i kind of think is a big deal what was it well she's just super secretive about her job like she told me she was a server and wouldn't tell me where she worked or anything like that so it was just kind of weird but it was like you know whatever we just met so i didn't think much of it but but anyways what does she do well well comes out like my all right all right sorry i'm gonna

00:04:18 - 00:04:27 | Speaker 7:

um what what do you do page i i mean i'm i i'm a dancer at

00:04:27 - 00:04:35 | Speaker 6:

you don't have to mention the name of the place uh you're a dancer yeah like at a strip club

00:04:35 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 8:

it's yeah okay but it's it's it's literally just a job it makes great money how did you find out

00:04:45 - 00:04:52 | Speaker 6:

about this uh nathan did she tell you this you said she was secretive she was a server

00:04:52 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 9:

yeah she told me she was a server at a restaurant and then some of my friends were at the club she worked at and then

00:05:00 - 00:05:01 | Speaker 5:

sent me pictures of her dancing on the pole.

00:05:03 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 7:

So, really? First off, they should be kicked out for taking a picture inside of a strip club. Secondly, why are you... Oh, you can't pull off phones and take pictures in a strip club. Really?

00:05:14 - 00:05:19 | Speaker 6:

That's not true. No, you cannot take pictures. I've been seeing all the videos in a strip club. You can't. You're not supposed to.

00:05:21 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 7:

Secondly, why would your friends make it that big of a deal? And thirdly, Paige, why are you ashamed of this? Why would you not tell?

00:05:30 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 2:

I just didn't think that was something to mention maybe on a very first date

00:05:34 - 00:05:35 | Speaker 7:

okay I get it

00:05:35 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 2:

yeah

00:05:36 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 7:

so why do you feel so she said she's a server you know what she technically probably is serving you know what I mean but why are you so bent up about that Nathan

00:05:48 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 5:

I don't know to me it's just kind of gross honestly first of all it was the line and second of all it's like I don't know I don't want to be with someone who's a dancer you know dance with a bunch of dudes all night

00:06:04 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 3:

very valid point I totally understand where he's coming from

00:06:08 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 7:

so when you say it's gross you're saying that she's dancing for a living what you're not saying is that it's gross that she lied to you about this or you feel like she lied to you

00:06:19 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 5:

I don't feel like that that's what happens

00:06:23 - 00:06:32 | Speaker 4:

yeah I was on your side because you can just say i'm not into that until you said she was gross for doing it and now i'm like yeah i think she

00:06:32 - 00:06:53 | Speaker 3:

wins out on this one i just think that that i don't know what's calling her gross but i i think that that is a very um that is one of those professions that is very polarizing and there are there are people my and i'm including myself here i would not be able to deal with the person that i was dating having that as their job absolutely you have to hide that though like i

00:06:53 - 00:06:58 | Speaker 6:

I don't like the fact that she feels self-conscious enough that it's not something that she wants to talk about.

00:06:59 - 00:07:16 | Speaker 4:

She just said on the first date. Yeah, but why not? I think it's a lot like kids. People don't share that they have kids on the first date. And I disagree with that. I do, too. I do, too. But I understand why some people do it because they want you to know me first before you just say no. I don't like it.

00:07:16 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 7:

Are there any other listeners that lie about their occupation or lie about, you know, something that they don't tell people until they're on a couple of dates, kind of like what Paige is doing here? Sam, what did you want to say?

00:07:27 - 00:07:47 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, hi. I think the man is warranted in how he feels, you know? I think that if, you know, if he is a great guy and I think there's not a lot of great guys out there, If she, her choice of career might have just lost her out on a good catch. I'm not sure.

00:07:48 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 7:

Would you date a stripper?

00:07:51 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 1:

I think I'm a great guy, and no, I would not.

00:07:57 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 7:

Okay. Why not, though? Yeah, I hung up with him because I was going to pick up somebody who is a stripper.

00:08:04 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 6:

Would that bother you? I don't think so. But, I mean, it's tough to say what you would do unless, you know, you're in it. Would you tell your mom what she did for a living? I'm not sure if my mom would enjoy that.

00:08:16 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 7:

No. Chelsea, you are a dancer. I got to be careful because of no longer strippers. They're dancers. You're a dancer. Your thoughts on this, Chelsea?

00:08:27 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 2:

Oh, I'm not a dancer.

00:08:28 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 7:

Oh, it says I'm a dancer.

00:08:30 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 2:

I like dancers. Oh. Listen, I'm all for it. Oh, okay. I can't say that I have not had fun times with a stripper before. Oh, really? So I'm not discriminating, okay? It's okay if that's what she wants to do. It's also okay if somebody doesn't want to date somebody who is an exotic dancer or in that type of field. There's nothing wrong with not wanting to be in a relationship with someone who does that. It's a personal preference. I also understand that she wants to have privacy. but at the same time if you're dating for for the end goal it's not necessarily fair to take the opportunity away from him to make a decision about something like that before making a connection because how do we know that she you know they have a great connection and she might say oh my god i can't tell i'm going to lose him and how long is this lie going to continue before she does tell him the truth i understand her i understand him but she definitely needs to

00:09:29 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 7:

gives him the opportunity to make that decision for himself is it easy for you to pick up strippers

00:09:34 - 00:10:15 | Speaker 2:

at strip clubs because you're a woman oh they love it when girls go they love it my ex-boyfriend was so pissed off really what was he upset about oh yeah he wanted the attention because i was getting attention yeah i was getting attention and he wasn't and when he tried to get in our face they pushed him away so no they love it when the girls come and hang out and have fun and It's not even always a sexual thing. It's just, it's fun. for them to see women supporting other women it's just it's it's fun for them it's fun for us too if you don't like it that's fine that's totally fine but if you're someone who does or you do it you have to kind of own that she should have gone with go-go dancer if she was going to lie about

00:10:15 - 00:10:21 | Speaker 9:

yeah just say that instead of a uh server what's up carmen hi good morning guys good morning

00:10:21 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 6:

um he said it's gross but his friends go there i don't get that does that mean they're gross And aren't you who you hang out with?

00:10:30 - 00:10:31 | Speaker 9:

Yeah, do you ever go to strip clubs, Nathan?

00:10:34 - 00:10:40 | Speaker 8:

I mean, yeah, and sorry. I didn't say she was gross. I just said I would feel gross being with a dancer.

00:10:41 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 9:

How does that change what you just said? And by the way, how is that?

00:10:47 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 8:

To me, it's different. You go to strip clubs still? I'm not judging somebody for what they're doing. I just don't want to be with them. Like, there's definitely a difference to me.

00:10:55 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 9:

All right. Kim, you are a stripper, unlike the caller I just thought was a stripper. Is that right?

00:11:02 - 00:11:03 | Speaker 7:

Dancer, bro.

00:11:04 - 00:11:05 | Speaker 9:

You're what's that?

00:11:06 - 00:11:07 | Speaker 7:

I'm a dancer.

00:11:08 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 9:

You're a dancer. Okay, yes. When did they change the name of strippers and dancers? They've been changed it, bro. When? Why? This is like over a decade ago. Why did they change it? Explain it to me. Because they can. I understand, but what was offensive about saying stripper?

00:11:24 - 00:11:26 | Speaker 3:

Doesn't T-Pain have to change the name of his song, then?

00:11:28 - 00:11:49 | Speaker 7:

T-Pain's in the wrong. When I go off a date with somebody, the very first thing, I tell them before we go out. Because I don't want to waste anybody's time, right? No reason to waste anybody's time. And I believe being up front. Why not? What's the worst thing that's going to happen if you're not going to go to a second date? But at least you're honest.

00:11:50 - 00:11:52 | Speaker 9:

So talk to Paige right now. Tell Paige what she should be doing.

00:11:52 - 00:12:10 | Speaker 7:

page this is uh kim the dancer move on yeah move on because it's not worth it you're probably an awesome person and it's your job and i know it's your job but right out there for you and

00:12:10 - 00:12:27 | Speaker 10:

that's how it goes is this a common thing is this a common thing that you've dealt with or that other women in you know in the locker room i don't know what y'all call it have dealt with is not being able to have serious relationships because of your profession absolutely then you have the guys that

00:12:27 - 00:12:46 | Speaker 7:

love it i'm in love with the dancer you know oh she changed it she changed it okay that's the radio that's the ac radio version of that that's the radio version yeah no um a lot of men don't like it a lot of men think they like it and can handle it until you're in a religion then it's another

00:12:46 - 00:13:00 | Speaker 9:

story i could see that i could see where that would be tough um all right uh real quick i want to uh i want to grab a couple of these callers here because these people are not dancers but they have occupations that they lie about uh amy what's your occupation that you don't tell people

00:13:00 - 00:13:14 | Speaker 4:

on a first date about massage therapy why not because everyone always says oh i could use one of those or oh i need my shoulders rubbed and it's just okay i don't know it's just not very

00:13:14 - 00:13:20 | Speaker 9:

um appropriate like you don't want to have to bring your occupation out i feel bad for you

00:13:20 - 00:13:26 | Speaker 3:

because I feel like in every relationship you're ever going to be in, people are going to want you to rub their back. Right, or family relationship, right?

00:13:27 - 00:13:30 | Speaker 9:

Ashley, what's your occupation that you lie about?

00:13:32 - 00:13:53 | Speaker 5:

So I'm in the military, and I don't typically tell men that I'm in the military because you just don't know who you're going on a date with sometimes. Either they're not going to like your occupation, they could be some stalker, or they could also pose some security risk where they're in a militia or something that don't really get along with military or, you know, a target that you can tell.

00:13:54 - 00:14:04 | Speaker 9:

Interesting. That's wild. That's heavy. Because I would find that to be something that a guy would be hot over, like, you know, a man or a woman in uniform, you know?

00:14:05 - 00:14:24 | Speaker 5:

Oh, not always. You get some guys that, you know, are offended because either, you know, you have a more masculine position than them or a more masculine occupation than them. I was married, and it didn't work out because he couldn't handle the fact that I was a breadwinner, and he wasn't. What did he do for a living? He was a firefighter.

00:14:25 - 00:14:35 | Speaker 9:

Oh, wow. I would think both of those jobs are amazing, but that's wild that he would look at yours to be more masculine than him. Well, thank you for your service. We appreciate you.

00:14:36 - 00:14:37 | Speaker 5:

Thank you for your support.

00:14:37 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 1:
