This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:01:07 - 00:01:52 | Speaker 3:

I would say Bishop State's like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, people in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be there you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or any 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four year.

Before we had AT&T Business Wireless coverage, our delivery GPS wasn't the most reliable. Once, our driver had to do a 14-point turn to get back on route. A 14-point turn! An influencer even live-streamed the whole thing. Not good for business. Now, with AT&T Business Wireless, routes are updating on the fly and deliveries are on time. And the influencer did get us 53 new followers, though. AT&T Business Wireless. Connecting changes everything.

00:02:31 - 00:02:34 | Speaker 9:

It's the second date update. A mojo in the morning.

00:02:34 - 00:02:49 | Speaker 5:

All right, second date update. We're going to have that right now here on the show. If you are not getting a call back and you've been on a date, text DATE to 95500. We'll get you on the show. On the phone with us is Pamela. What's going on, Pamela? How are you doing?

00:02:50 - 00:02:52 | Speaker 7:

Hey, I'm all right. How are you guys?

00:02:52 - 00:02:57 | Speaker 5:

We're good. Pamela's getting ghosted. How could somebody as beautiful as you get ghosted?

00:02:57 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 7:

I know, right? I know. It doesn't happen to me.

00:03:01 - 00:03:08 | Speaker 5:

What does your gut tell you on this? Do you think that he's just a flake? Or do you think that he's got somebody else in his life? What are your thoughts?

00:03:09 - 00:03:38 | Speaker 7:

I have no idea. Like, honestly, like, this doesn't happen to me. At least if somebody's, like, not feeling it, you kind of just get the vibe or whatever. Yeah. But this felt like it was, like, it felt like it was on. You know, like, we met on an app that I usually, like, don't do apps anymore. I usually just meet people, like, in the world. But I met this guy on an app and, like, I don't know. Like, it was a really good date. Like, we had a really good time. And so I just, I don't know. That's why I went to you guys because I'm like, what happened?

00:03:38 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 5:

All right. So I understand you guys just went bar hopping and went to a bunch of different bars. And at the end of the night, did you guys kiss? Did you hug? Yeah. You did kiss. Okay. So he kissed you at the end of the night, but now he's not calling you. I always wonder with that, with the people that kiss and don't call. Eric is his name.

00:03:56 - 00:03:57 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, it wasn't more than that, though.

00:03:57 - 00:03:58 | Speaker 5:

It was more than that.

00:03:59 - 00:04:01 | Speaker 7:

No, no, it wasn't. Wasn't more than that. Okay.

00:04:01 - 00:04:05 | Speaker 5:

Eric is his name. Eric's on the phone with us right now. Eric, what's happening?

00:04:07 - 00:04:08 | Speaker 8:

Hey, how's it going?

00:04:09 - 00:04:10 | Speaker 5:

Good. Say hello to Pamela.

00:04:13 - 00:04:15 | Speaker 8:

Hey, Pamela. Hey.

00:04:15 - 00:04:20 | Speaker 5:

Eric, what's the story here, buddy? What's going on?

00:04:22 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 8:

Um, I'm not sure what to say. I mean, like, yeah, I guess we had a good date. I'm just not really into, like, vloggers.

00:04:37 - 00:04:38 | Speaker 5:

You're not into what?

00:04:40 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 8:

Vloggers, like, you know, like, vloggers. like everywhere we went she like was taking videos for like her like her vlog like and like she's an influencer yeah and like after the date like there was all these posts like everywhere we had been like i follow her on social media like it was like everywhere we had been was like a post and she was like you know talking like you could see my like i wasn't in it but you could see like my my feet and like my arms your face wasn't in it

00:05:10 - 00:05:15 | Speaker 7:

yeah your face wasn't in it at all so what do you pamela what do you do are you an influencer or

00:05:15 - 00:05:30 | Speaker 4:

what is the story i mean it's just something like i do on the side you know like it's just you know talking about places i've been like i have a lot of followers it's just something i do But it wasn't, like, all the time, and also, we didn't see your face at all.

00:05:30 - 00:05:33 | Speaker 7:

How many posts did you put up throughout the night?

00:05:35 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 4:

I think four.

00:05:37 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 7:

It was just four, Eric?

00:05:41 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 8:

I don't know. It seemed like more than that, but, like, it was, like, every, you know, everything we did was a post.

00:05:50 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 7:

So, did you guys talk with each other and hang out with each other? Like, was she constantly pulling her phone out and doing that?

00:05:56 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 4:

I wasn't like I'm not filming the whole time

00:06:00 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 3:

we were like hanging out was he aware that you were filming or were you kind of filming like on the down low or you weren't trying to keep that

00:06:08 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 4:

you can't film on the down low like I have like the phone like in my hand and like I'm like a spy or whatever no I'm like you know we're like at a bar and so I don't know

00:06:20 - 00:06:31 | Speaker 3:

I just meant like were you actually filming at the table or would you like get up and walk away and like film stuff away from him it's kind of like while we were hanging

00:06:31 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 7:

out i was just like so in the yeah in the middle of conversation you just pull your phone out and just start recording something and then where are you posting it right away or just post at the end

00:06:43 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 4:

of the day i posted a couple right away of course i mean like that's what you do so so eric did you

00:06:52 - 00:07:01 | Speaker 7:

feel like she wasn't carrying it all or paying attention to you or were you just feeling like she got my feet on video you know what I mean

00:07:01 - 00:07:12 | Speaker 8:

I mean I was like in between the you know the videoing like yeah we like hang out in between but then I'd be like okay time to go back to like filming

00:07:12 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 5:

okay Eric did you know that she had like this big following and that she did this before you went out on a date

00:07:19 - 00:07:33 | Speaker 8:

um yeah I mean, I knew she had, like, a social media, like, presence and, like, you know, good stuff, but I didn't, it never occurred to me that it would be, like, during the date, you know?

00:07:33 - 00:07:44 | Speaker 4:

Well, but you've seen, he saw my Instagram and my TikTok. Like, he knows, you know what I mean? Like, he knows that that's stuff that I do. But, like, he wasn't in it. I didn't, you know.

00:07:44 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 6:

I think we've reached the quota of likes.

00:07:46 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, there was a lot of likes. Hold on. But that's Monday for you. But, Olivia, what's up? You there? yeah hi olivia has a very interesting thought on this what's that olivia i just feel like he has

00:08:01 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 1:

something to hide i mean it's 2024 everybody vlogs he should be supportive of her if they're gonna eventually end up turning this into being a relationship but you say everybody does it

00:08:12 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 7:

doesn't everybody though at least try to enjoy the date with each other i mean maybe one post

00:08:16 - 00:08:32 | Speaker 1:

or something like that but after the date you can balance it by all means but if he knew going into it that you know she's an influencer justice on the site he should know it to kind of expect if he follows her but i just feel like what does he have to hide because i'm looking at like you know

00:08:32 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 7:

the people that are on the show here and and i'm like thinking of could you imagine going out with

00:08:36 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 5:

kp and the entire time all she's doing is posting i think it's a balance because i think if you know that going into it you should expect while they create a lot of content from being out socially that's probably something that will continue once we date comma but dot dot dot yeah I feel like it's inappropriate on a first date yes and you don't start doing it on dates until you've had a conversation I agree 100% agree

00:08:59 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 6:

just because you know what the person does is different in theory than it is in practice I can know you're an influencer but once we get on that date and you constantly pull out the phone and you then don't date me because that's how I make money do you get what I'm saying though no you don't get what I'm saying

00:09:14 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 5:

no because that's like going up to a mechanic and then going, I know you're a mechanic, I'm going to date you, and then once we date, going, I can't believe you're a mechanic and you're working on a car.

00:09:22 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, but he's not going to, in the middle of a date, fix your car.

00:09:25 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 6:

Exactly. That's a terrible analogy.

00:09:28 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 7:

But can I ask this question and maybe ask a listener, Amanda, because Amanda is one of the callers that called in for us to talk. What was your comment you're going to make? And I want to ask you a question.

00:09:39 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

I was just saying the same thing that the last caller said. He literally said, I follow her. so like if he's following her he knows what she's posting so the fact that he's surprised is silly to me here's my question and also you guys are making it sound like she was on her phone the entire time like she probably it her total clips were probably like 20 seconds total okay so the four hour night here

00:10:00 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 8:

my question shouldn't she ask him for permission before she posts even his toe no really not if

00:10:09 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 11:

they're out in public i mean if it's not his face he's not talking because people would be so upset

00:10:13 - 00:10:18 | Speaker 8:

from every single person in the bar i don't know but she's on she's out with him she knows him and

00:10:18 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 10:

say hey you know what like give me at least i would say she only needs to ask if it's his face or whatever or his voice like his foot who cares but i still think it's so rude on a first date to do that even whether you know what this person does or not like i don't think that you expect that to take over your date like that was the takeaway from the date for him

00:10:39 - 00:10:44 | Speaker 8:

shay what's up you don't think it's inappropriate either huh oh no it is absolutely inappropriate

00:10:44 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 2:

okay yeah absolutely i i film probably six hours a day never never i do the same thing but never never would i do that on a date if you're going to then you need to disclose that to the person prior to the date are you there to try to get likes and follows or are you there to meet someone

00:11:00 - 00:11:09 | Speaker 8:

and make a connection well that you know in a lot of cases it sounds like and i don't know what your answer would be to that pamela but was your answer that you were more interested in vlogging

00:11:09 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 3:

than you were in dating eric no no i mean like that's just something i do like it's just something i do like that's just my yeah i don't know it's my like side gig or whatever but he like i i don't know like it just didn't seem like i was always on my phone like we had a conversation like i can

00:11:32 - 00:11:45 | Speaker 8:

tell you stuff about him and his life and all right tell me what what what's what's his favorite uh what's his favorite uh type of pizza what does he put in his pizza he's really anti-hawaiian pizza

00:11:45 - 00:11:47 | Speaker 3:

Like, he was really violently against...

00:11:47 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 8:

I was trying to catch her off guard. You guys talked about pizza. What was the craziest thing she vlogged, Eric?

00:11:57 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 9:

Oh, my God. I don't even know. Like, maybe there was, like, a bar glass that was, like, looks like a beer glass that was, like, weirdly shaped, and we were just, like, in the middle. She was, like, in the middle of a sentence, and she just, like, whips out her phone and starts, like, talking about, like, this beer glass. and I don't know.

00:12:16 - 00:12:32 | Speaker 8:

Wow. Well, sounds like you guys, I'll be honest, it sounds like you guys did not have a good enough date to want a second date anyway and honestly, as a guy, I would probably think this girl's not into me at all if she's constantly doing this, especially if she's posting it while we're going on the date.

00:12:32 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 3:

We didn't really, okay, what do you mean? It sounds like we didn't have a good time. It doesn't sound. We did have a good time. Well, it sounds. We laughed. You better be careful.

00:12:39 - 00:13:05 | Speaker 8:

We're probably on her vlog right now. But he actually, say how to chat. Yes. By the way, did you take a picture of your phone right now so that you can post that and say you're on with Mojo in the morning. If so, please tag us. No, it just sounds to me like if you're on a date, you don't use your phone at all. Like, you don't even look at your phone. You know? I don't know. That's just a thought. And this is from a guy that is always on his phone. You can ask my wife about that, so. All right. No more dates, Eric, or do you want to give her a second chance?

00:13:07 - 00:13:10 | Speaker 9:

I think I'm just... I'm good. Thank you.

00:13:11 - 00:13:15 | Speaker 8:

Okay. Would you even want another date, Pamela, then maybe, probably not, right?

00:13:16 - 00:13:18 | Speaker 3:

I think I'm good right now, too. I think I'm good.

00:13:19 - 00:13:21 | Speaker 8:

All right, we got you the answer. Second date update.

This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:14:51 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 8:

Alan Lee, my major is drafting and design. In high school, I did it since my sophomore year, and I kind of wanted to continue it. It was the only thing I was good at. I didn't want to move to a four-year yet. I don't think I was mentally prepared.

00:15:00 - 00:15:36 | Speaker 2:

bishop state they had the program i met a few people there i ended up enrolling the instructor first i met him i told him about my background he said okay great you know about this he built me straight to work he didn't let me have any leeway he pushed me to my limits so i think that made me choose drafting design at bishop state and stuck with it but the sport's amazing all my instructors just want to see me succeed they want to push me to my limit they want to see me to be the best i can be get a job just be as successful as i can be and i really appreciate all of them with my degree as of right now my plan is to work for the city of mobile with their urban and planning department and I've already got a job shadow before and hopefully I will internship over the summer. If you choose Bishop, we're welcome to have you any day. Ready to make your

00:15:36 - 00:15:43 | Speaker 1:
