He started dating this one girl. They had just gone on like two dates or whatever. And she said something interesting that I actually want to bring up as a topic. And I want you to be honest. You've got to be honest on this one. This friend was telling me that he was on his second date with this girl. and she started talking to him about what her friends were saying about him off of their date and he said to her he goes well how would they know yeah they weren't on the date were you just telling them what was going on and she said no i was playing them some of the audio i actually taped our date because i wanted to see how i was on the date and i wanted my friends to be able to hear it he felt so violated uh i would too yeah crazy she secretly taped the date to play for her friend she says and she says that she was playing it for the friends and the friend said said this is the greatest one the friend said that they felt like he was overly interested in her and he was first off he was like okay wait hold on let's hold the fact that you're like secretly taping me and i feel like i'm getting you know like bugged or whatever the hell are they talking about and i guess he was like really nice and he was asking her a lot of questions and they said that he was like way into her and then he was like no i was just trying to be a nice person but now let's go back to the fact that you're taping me and this is crazy talk here that is crazy behavior yeah um and it's funny but it is funny that you say that that it is crazy behavior because i was having a conversation weeks and weeks ago, God, more than two months ago with Tony Travato. Do you guys know who Tony Travato is? I've heard of him. Have our listeners heard of him? The guy here? You talk to the PD. Tony Travato, our program director. And Tony Travato says that he never goes into a conversation with anyone without thinking that they're taping him.

Yeah, well, I get it. I get it from his perspective of why he thinks that because a lot of what he's talking about is business and you don't want your words misconstrued. So I, you know, I get that.

He always says, he goes, you always got to understand that people are probably taping you. So you got to understand that anything you say is being taped. And I'm like, oh, because they always used to say, don't put anything in writing. You don't want others to say because you can do it. but I would love to know if there are any attorneys listening is top dog listening to us right now is the top dog. Although I don't know. He does just personal injury. I think I want to know if there are any attorneys or something listening. Can you tape somebody without them knowing about it? can you on a, Like, can you go on a date and have the date tape you?

See, I feel like the only, I'm going to say the only instance, the first instance that pops into my mind where I feel like it's acceptable is if I go on a job interview and I want to see how I was in the interview so that possibly I can learn from that and the next time I could be better. Like, I feel like that's an acceptable use of recording.

I think there are a lot of acceptable uses. I just think a date is a really wild one. Yeah, it is.

I've gotten in fights with Chelsea where I said to her when we're in the middle of the fight, hold on, I want to tape this. And she's like, what? And I said, I want to tape this because it always comes back that I said this.

Oh my God. Let me tell you, I think Wes has probably taped one of our arguments. He has a thing on his phone. It's called a Plod. I don't know if you've ever heard of this. And he uses it for work. I'm going to ask him, actually. It not only records it, but then it also sends you a complete transcript. So it is in writing. That's smart, though.

I said that to Chelsea, and she goes, well, go back and listen to it. I went back and listened to one of our arguments that we had with each other. Everything she was saying was true. I was not hearing exactly what she was saying until I heard it on tape. But that's interesting that you talk about the thing on the phone. Have you guys been on the phone with anybody that has pushed that button that's now on the new iPhone app?

It tells you. It tells you you're being recorded.

I was on the phone with somebody and it went up and it said, your phone call is being recorded. And the person claimed that they just pushed it with their cheek. Is that possible? Hold on. Let me see.

It is possible. It's in the very upper left-hand corner, though. So you'd have to be really pushing your cheek hard.

I am. Yeah. So Michigan law states that it's one party consent.

So as long as that person that recorded is okay with it.

Correct. So he couldn't, um, she couldn't record her phone and then leave the room and record what everybody else is doing. But as long as the person who's recording is still there can do it. Now it is different federally. So, which I know you guys want them to with your, probably the radio, you know, putting things on the radio and things like that but in michigan it's a one party consent so one party

it's not would not go that route i mean i know if she's claiming it's to see how she acts okay but um yeah i just think that's a little weird yeah yeah it's crazy well thank you attorney

talking about secretly recording somebody you did this yes well my ex-husband's been 15 years or so but he used to get in pretty bad fights and um there were somewhere i thought you know he was the reason for the fight so i would record him and he i would have him listen to it and he would agreed and he would get through to him but it didn't work it worked for a while but then it went downhill from there but i have i also tapped his phone and thought he was cheating when we were trying to make our second child oh and wait was he can you do that i don't know but i did

drivers have and stuff yeah but i feel like you have to wait until like the absolute perfect occasion to then show him the dash cam to prove your point right because once you do it once you're done this makes me so nervous to then like date because like say you're dating a guy who has a dash cam and we've talked in the car about stuff and we break up you have all those files yeah

I recorded a meeting with a principal after my son was forced to clean up pee of another student. What? Oh, this was a news story. She was in the news. This is a news story. This just happened. What? Caitlin, that's you?

yeah that's me hi wow so wait what in the heck i have not heard this story oh i saw it and i was

livid for you what so what's going on with that uh that uh case or that uh that particular

situation okay so my son um he's in third grade and his principal was substituting for his teacher um last week and she made him clean up another child's urine off the classroom bathroom floor okay and humiliated him in front of the whole class and um i took it to the news

and everything i saw that yeah utica schools huh yep yep and uh

principal and her family and friends and stuff are all over the Facebook threatening to sue me for defamation. And I talked to an attorney and I learned that Michigan is a one party state. So I had a meeting on Monday with the executive administrators and the principal for basically her insincere apology to my son. And I recorded the whole meeting so that she's unable to sue me for defamation because no not happening so why why your son why did she choose him because

he was the last one in the bathroom so so what is going to happen uh with this principal that will the school district and they said what they're going to do um they're not really allowed

to tell me that but i will say that she's already um back to work i guess her apology was enough That is insane to me. I'm moving my kids' schools.

What are you hoping that ends up happening?

Well, I would have liked her to at least get a lengthy no-pay suspension at the very least. She's the one running the building. She should have been fired.

Interesting that she said that your son was the one, because he was the last one in there, not realizing that no kid or no human, no guy gets it in the toilet. You know what I mean? Like, that could happen any time.

Well, the thing is, is the child that used the bathroom before my son is autistic. Okay. And my son, his name's Reese, he noticed that when that little boy went to the bathroom that that's when the urine was on the floor, but he didn't want to embarrass that little boy.

Wow.

So, I left those details out of all the news, because I'm like, that's totally irrelevant. It doesn't even matter.

Yeah, and you didn't want to bring up another person's business, I guess, right?

No, that's not even the point, but I know it wasn't my son's urine on the floor, and she literally gave him a piece of paper towel like one small piece of paper towel to clean it up

well and no offense you know but you got little kids and stuff like that you got janitorial

services they'll come and yeah she told me it wasn't she told me it wasn't their custodian's job to come clean the bathroom every time that's their job yeah that is their job that's why i record that's why i recorded the whole meeting because this definitely happened you already admitted to it like no i got you on recording so don't try to play me lady you're on a power trip

is what it is right i i guess the part that i'm the most confused with and upset with is that this is the leader of the school right and you know and not that not that that would give any teacher justification for doing this but this is the person that's leading the entire school and this is how they're you know holding and in dealing with situations i would just say to that school district maybe you guys might want to have a conversation about this you know and let's uh

yeah they they did say that they are like moving forward they are going to be um clarifying that that's not acceptable and everyone needs to be following the protocol the district's protocols and stuff because this is not something that's okay with the district here's here's a question

for you if this principal would have sincerely just said i am so sorry i was stressed out that

day it was a bad day what would you do i absolutely would have been like okay i understand i that's what i told her in the meeting i have it on recording if you would have said anything anything just an acknowledgement yeah yeah just anything at all differently than um it's the classroom policy and i stand behind it and how rude she was to me about it and like the fact that she was like not if she would have said anything different i would have been like okay

well yeah we can't i we can't do that it's a shame but it's a shame that your son has to move schools i i almost feel like that that's not fair to your son but i get why you're doing that

out of protection for him it's at his request he wants to my son is actually considered special needs he's on a 504 at school and he takes daily medication he has a learning disability um and so The principal knows all that, too. So, like, why would you do that to him?
