Mojo in the Morning Shannon, people have been asking Shannon, why did you not go to Taylor Swift? It seemed like everybody went to Taylor Swift but you

00:02:06 - 00:02:32 | Speaker 5:

Well, my daughter was going on Saturday night And actually at the very last minute Our sweet boss Tony called and said I have an extra pair of tickets can you use them but I was in the middle of still getting her ready and I had plans with my my little guy Smith um and so I was just so frazzled in the moment I'm like I can't I can't make it down there I can't pull myself together and get her where she needs to be and get down there and get dressed

00:02:32 - 00:03:05 | Speaker 4:

and I hadn't even showered yet Tony had asked people in the meeting last week on was it Tuesday or Monday or whatever I don't remember what day it was but he had asked he said uh you know I don't know if I can get anybody tickets it's really hard to get tickets but if you want tickets you get it and I think you had said something about how Friday night and Saturday night you knew that we were going to be out there doing broadcast you didn't want to have a babysitter two nights in a row so I think that what ended up happening was there was a possibility of tickets on Friday but because you didn't want a babysitter for both nights right and then I think he was trying to

00:03:05 - 00:03:18 | Speaker 5:

get you tickets because he felt bad I know he's the best boss I'm super weird about putting the kids with the baby so my ex-husband and I do week on week off with the kids and so if I have them for a weekend, I'm not putting them with a babysitter two nights in a row, and I had them with a babysitter on Friday.

00:03:18 - 00:03:25 | Speaker 4:

You know what I would like to know is I told you guys earlier this morning, but Engineer Randy went.

00:03:25 - 00:03:27 | Speaker 5:

I heard that, and I love that.

00:03:27 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 4:

With his daughter. Is Randy around? That makes me really happy. Can we call him real quick? That would be good. I just want to see if Randy is here right now, because I would like to get a review from Randy the Engineer. Because in all the years I've worked with Randy, and Randy has been our engineer, For those that don't know this, the man is a very hard worker but has to be on call 24-7. I was wondering. I'm dialing him right now. You are dialing him? Okay. I was going to dial him in a cell. Call him. Go ahead. Dial him up. Put him on hold. Let's see. We will pick up. I want to get a review from Randy. In all the years I've known him, I did not even know that Randy had a daughter that was a Taylor Swift fan. Same. It's crazy to think that I've worked at this building here for so long. I didn't even know Randy had children Until like a couple Few years back ago

00:04:18 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 2:

Your call has been forwarded to an automate

00:04:21 - 00:04:25 | Speaker 4:

Hold on a second I'm going to dial him on my cell phone You think Randy will pick up?

00:04:25 - 00:04:27 | Speaker 5:

He would know that that was our number two

00:04:27 - 00:04:58 | Speaker 4:

I don't know, I want a review of the show I want to find out The only thing better would have been Mark Makovich Taking Randy's daughter to the concert Mark's the other engineer Could you imagine? Hello, it's Randy Randall. Does anybody ever call you Randall at all, Randy? Sometimes. They do. My dad when he's mad at me. Randy, I had zero idea. First off, I knew you had family, but I did not know how old your children were. I did not know that you had a Taylor Swift fan in that house of yours.

00:04:59 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 6:

I do, yes.

00:05:00 - 00:05:04 | Speaker 1:

And did you escort your daughter to the Taylor Swift concert on Saturday?

00:05:05 - 00:05:08 | Speaker 3:

I did. Oh, my God. How much fun did you guys have?

00:05:10 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 1:

We're on the radio right now. We're on the radio. That was my question. Uh-oh, hold on. No, no, now I want the truth. Now I want to know the truth, Randy, how it was. It was wonderful. Yeah.

00:05:24 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 3:

Can you hear us, Randy? Are your ears still ringing? Come on, Randy.

00:05:29 - 00:05:32 | Speaker 2:

I want to say thank you so much for having us tonight and for being here.

00:05:32 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 1:

I want to know what it was like to escort your daughter with a bunch of screaming daughters and moms there as a dad.

00:05:40 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 2:

It was an experience. She enjoyed it.

00:05:44 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 1:

At any point during the concert, were you hoping that the tower for WJLB would have gone down and you would have had to leave and go out there to take care of it?

00:05:56 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 2:

No, I wouldn't have been able to hear my phone anyway.

00:05:59 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 1:

Were you like the dad of the year, though, when you told her that Tony had some tickets?

00:06:08 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, I don't know about for the year, but for the week.

00:06:11 - 00:06:58 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. Listen, I'm going to say this, Randy. I don't know anybody here that has to put their family on hold for as much as you do. And we appreciate all that you do for us and what you do for all of our stations. but honestly that is such a cool thing that you got to do that and your daughter will never forget that opportunity yeah yeah i think you're right yeah that is such a cool thing man tony travato um was so excited about this that he had told me reached out and he said you know what next time you see randy he goes tell tell randy that you heard he went to the show and he said and i said i'll do one better than that we're gonna make randy now go on taylor's world tour And Randy, you're traveling across the country To now go on the rest of the Taylor Swift concert

00:06:58 - 00:07:00 | Speaker 2:

Oh, great

00:07:00 - 00:07:05 | Speaker 3:

Try to contain that excitement, try

00:07:05 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 2:

Much thanks to Tony

00:07:08 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 1:

Actually, you know what, Randy? You should next time, if this happens Where your daughter has her favorite that's coming to town Make Uncle Mark take your daughter Uncle Mark Makovich have to be there Oh god That's awesome Hey good job dad I think that's awesome You know what listen you do a lot for your family And I know you do a lot for us But I promise you just knowing my kids And stuff in the position they're in They never forget moments like that Randy Yeah I know I agree Good for you buddy I'll talk to you later man Everything's working in the studio You know, including the HVAC. I know, we're not sweating and we're not freezing.

00:07:53 - 00:07:54 | Speaker 3:

That's what I like to hear.

00:07:55 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 1:

All right, we'll talk to you later, buddy. See ya.

00:07:57 - 00:07:59 | Speaker 3:

Bye. Bye. We just jinxed ourselves with that, though.

00:07:59 - 00:08:37 | Speaker 1:

I know. Honestly, that is so cool. Because guys, I always tell you this. As a parent, you know, or as a person, and if you have children, you could be the greatest of the great. You know, you could actually have it where you are, you know, highly successful at what you do. but when your kids look up to you or feel like you've done something amazing for them because you are their parent i know this i know you know shannon this cav you know this mike you know this there is no greater feeling in the world than when your child's truly appreciative of what you did

00:08:37 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 4:

and that's that's a that's a cool thing so core memory yeah yeah man this weekend you guys you guys helped make that whole experience for Cecily, who came to the concert. Everybody at SNX, everybody in the studio at Mojo in the Morning, everybody that went to the concert, everybody that said hi to her, everybody, every single person made that entire experience absolutely amazing for her. Thank you. Cecily was

00:09:04 - 00:09:06 | Speaker 1:

incredible. From the

00:09:06 - 00:09:08 | Speaker 4:

high five, the pictures,

00:09:08 - 00:09:12 | Speaker 3:

the video, to the friendship bracelets, to helping us out

00:09:12 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 4:

at the table, listeners, everything. Kept commenting on the video of Megan and Mojo And Cecily and I singing I forget what song we were singing You belong to me I guess there's a moment in it where she looks at me And I don't see that because I just look at the video I see her kind of look at me every day I don't really notice those things But I guess she looks at me And you can just see the pure joy and love In that moment And Mojo captured that moment It was just really cool to see that So thank you guys very much

00:09:39 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 1:

It was cool And Shannon, Lucy got a chance to go With her friends on Saturday

00:09:45 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

Lou's got a chance to go with an incredible family That took her and some of her All her little girlfriends And my girlfriend Lindsay and I Were those annoying moms That just wouldn't leave Because we were both

00:10:00 - 00:11:20 | Speaker 1:

emotional that we were not going with our daughters to their first concert. So I actually feel kind of bad about it. It is funny, but we were supposed to drop them off at this family's home at like 4.30, 5 o'clock. And then the girls were all going to get ready together and get on a party bus to head downtown. And so my friend Lindsay and her daughter Ava and then Lucy and Smith, we all drove together to this house. And when we got there, Lucy like beelined it, right? to go upstairs and be with all her friends and like you know do their hair and makeup or whatever um and my friend all of a sudden like we're supposed to drop them and go and my friend all of a sudden disappears into this family's home and she's like sending me pictures from inside i'm like lindsey what are you doing we're supposed to just drop them off like we weren't even supposed to go inside we're supposed to drop them off and go and she's like i am going to stay here until this bus leaves and she she had brought with her like a bag of um decorations for the bus like this was actually kind of genius she had like banners and light up balloons and little things that said hooray and she's like start blowing all this stuff up with me and we're gonna go and put it on the bus and just stay as long as we can so we could see the girls leave so it's like 5 30 and we're still there mind you we were supposed to drop them off and leave but just trying to squeeze out every second of the moment being super annoying i'm sure because you want to be able to experience

00:11:20 - 00:11:21 | Speaker 2:

And obviously tickets were hard to come by

00:11:21 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 1:

Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah

00:11:23 - 00:11:38 | Speaker 2:

But are you also, are you and Lindsay Are you the same parents that when your daughter or your son Is invited to a birthday party You go and you stay at the party the entire time And have to sit there and eat the pizza That's like the free pizza for the kids

00:11:38 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 1:

With Smith I do because he's still little With Loose I drop and go Bye girl But not this It was just like such a special moment for her So there we are blowing up balloons in the driveway while the parents are still getting ready.

00:11:54 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 2:

What did the parent of the kid that was taking all your kids to the concert, what did they think when you guys were all hanging out?

00:12:01 - 00:12:07 | Speaker 1:

They told us that it was cool what we were doing and it was sweet, but I'm sure inside they were like, will you guys go home already?

00:12:09 - 00:12:11 | Speaker 2:

They were like...

00:12:11 - 00:12:18 | Speaker 1:

We made friends with the party bus driver. We were those moms.

00:12:18 - 00:12:32 | Speaker 2:

For Lucy, when she was going to the concert, what was it like for her to know that she, you know, had got an opportunity to go and be there and to see this Taylor? Was this like, this was her big concert?

00:12:32 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 1:

This was her very first concert.

00:12:33 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 2:

What did she say when she came home? Was she just talking the whole time?

00:12:37 - 00:12:54 | Speaker 1:

She said, oh my gosh, she was so excited. And she said that her ear, she was scared she wasn't going to be able to hear normal again. Because, you know, it's so loud inside Ford Field. And she had no voice at all Because she had been screaming and singing And it was so cute She was so excited

00:12:54 - 00:13:45 | Speaker 2:

I think that this is the one time Where you go Even if you don't like Taylor Swift And I'm not going to say to you guys That I'm a huge Taylor Swift music fan I know there's probably like Four songs that I sit there and go Oh I like that song Whatever the deal is She's got catalogs upon catalogs There was a couple eras that I was happy I could sit down during Like when she did that whole era Where she had like the trees It was like Harry Potter And then she had like the one with the Even with the snake one I'm like oh okay I'm going to sit down for this one Or behind the piano I'm like oh can please people sit down for a second I'm tired But there were a couple of moments where I'm like going Oh my god Just witness these kids and these parents Incredible I can't take that away from them You know what I mean

00:13:45 - 00:13:55 | Speaker 1:

I feel like I got to witness it because there was one person I follow on Facebook who live streamed or like she was on Facebook live the entire concert.

00:13:55 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:13:56 - 00:14:04 | Speaker 1:

So like anytime I like dipped back in, you know, to see what was going on, like I could just go click on her page and see it. I didn't know if you were supposed to do that or not, but she was.

00:14:04 - 00:14:50 | Speaker 2:

I was driving down to go do our broadcast on Friday and I was listening to 97.1, the sports station. And I was listening to Mike Fellaini talking about, I don't get it. This is horrible. This is crazy. Why would somebody spend this money? And he's hating on it like he hates on Michigan football and basketball and all the rest of it. He hates on everything. And I'm listening to this thing going, I agree with you, Mike. I agree with you, Mike. I'm sitting there the whole time as the fan or agreeing. After the concert was over, I almost wanted to call him up and say, dude, you've got to go witness it for yourself. Now I get it. And you've got to see it because there was something about it that I sat there and I go, I can't take away the thing that she does to the people that are in the audience.

00:14:50 - 00:15:13 | Speaker 1:

Well, it's a core memory. Like I looked at Lucy's face when she came home and even, you know, my friend was sending me photos during the show. And I'm like, I will never forget. She will never. forget this it is a poor memory i mean it is it is truly one of those things like where you'll as a grown woman go i remember when my mom stayed at this person's house the entire time and wouldn't

00:15:13 - 00:15:19 | Speaker 2:

leave yes she already called me the most embarrassing mom and i really took the trophy

00:15:19 - 00:15:44 | Speaker 1:

that night hey janelle is janelle's on with us right now you know who janelle is guys janelle is the Mojo in the Morning listener that went out to Taylor, Michigan to go and win tickets from Trailer Swift and the work day. The week day. Unable. Janelle, you in that cutie pie of yours, right?

00:15:45 - 00:15:47 | Speaker 3:

Yes. Claire, my daughter.

00:15:47 - 00:16:11 | Speaker 1:

God, Claire, can I play something for somebody real quick? Or for somebody? For everybody? This is a video of Claire that you took at the concert and i don't know if you'll be able to witness or hear this her giggle from enjoyment of being there take take a listen to this hold on a second here hold on i gotta get it to i got to get it to play on the on the little speaker system here you two look so great oh my

00:16:11 - 00:16:17 | Speaker 2:

oh you did i know the video you did was so cute the hearts around the eyes that that was incredible

00:16:17 - 00:16:22 | Speaker 1:

we went all out yeah yeah hold on a second wait where is it at hold on a second here

00:16:22 - 00:16:23 | Speaker 2:

You, Mojo.

00:16:24 - 00:16:43 | Speaker 1:

Oh, hold on, hold on. That one played. Oh, there you go. Here you go. Here it is. You can't. The video, I'm sorry. The video, she does a silent one. Her giggle is so unbelievable, and her excitement is unbelievable. Hold on. This is really bad.

00:16:43 - 00:16:45 | Speaker 2:

We love you, Mojo.

00:16:46 - 00:16:51 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, I thought it had audio to it, but honestly, I had chills when I watched that, Janelle.

00:16:52 - 00:16:57 | Speaker 3:

She had a great time. I mean, she's going to remember this for the rest of her life.

00:16:58 - 00:17:15 | Speaker 1:

What was, as a mom, what did it, like, we always try to put ourselves in a position with our kids where we go, I remember when I experienced something like this. What was the closest thing that you could even tell me that you experienced when you were Claire's age that, you know, would be to this?

00:17:17 - 00:17:53 | Speaker 3:

Oh, gosh. um honestly uh i i remember at her age having a field trip and my mom surprising me at the field trip and it was just so cool that she was there with me to experience this field trip to this whatever museum museum it was so it was just i and this was kind of like that i mean on a much bigger scale but she was um i think experiencing it with me i mean i we had the best time just singing and dancing and, um, making that memory with each other. And it was unlike any other

00:17:53 - 00:18:20 | Speaker 1:

experience I've ever had with her. It's when you think that your parent is a superhero, you know what I mean? Like it's when you think of that moment of like your mom showing up at your field trip and surprising you where you're like, Oh my God, like, I can't tell. I love my mom. Like, this is amazing. Your daughter, Claire's looking at you, Janelle, and thinking the same thing like she's like my mom is taking me to this yeah yeah although she will she takes full

00:18:20 - 00:18:39 | Speaker 3:

credit because she says mom you've been trying all day every day for so long and i only tried one time she's right smart ass hey congrats to you great job mom thank you so much i was like i was patting parents on the back

00:18:39 - 00:18:59 | Speaker 1:

like, great job, Dad, congratulations, because honestly, as a dad and watching Chelsea as a mom and seeing all the stuff that we do with our kids and do for our kids, I sit there and I go, man, these parents need to have recognition to know that they literally will not be sending their kids to college because they spend all their money on it. Lori, what's up?

00:19:00 - 00:19:00 | Speaker 3:

Hi.

00:19:00 - 00:19:02 | Speaker 1:

Hey, what's going on?

00:19:02 - 00:19:15 | Speaker 3:

Thank you so much for our tickets that we won. My sister and I had so much fun. We tried to look for you on Saturday, but you weren't there, and we just had an amazing time.

00:19:15 - 00:19:27 | Speaker 1:

We were inside. Well, we also had Kev's gender reveal, too, which was kind of crazy. But real quick, Lori, question for you. Yes. You worked your ass off to get tickets to this concert, right?

00:19:28 - 00:19:28 | Speaker 3:

Yes.

00:19:28 - 00:19:33 | Speaker 1:

And the listening hours on Mojo in the Morning last week were the biggest we've ever had.

00:19:33 - 00:19:34 | Speaker 3:

Truly. Oh, my gosh, yes.

00:19:35 - 00:19:35 | Speaker 1:

Was it worth it?

00:19:36 - 00:19:37 | Speaker 3:

Oh, absolutely.

00:19:38 - 00:19:51 | Speaker 1:

yeah absolutely and now yeah now we've got 12 listeners this week because we because all we got are lalapalooza tickets and post malone tickets you know well i'm listening this morning

00:19:51 - 00:19:55 | Speaker 3:

because i wanted to hear everybody's taylor experience because i knew you guys would talk

00:19:55 - 00:19:59 | Speaker 1:

about it so do us a favor go back and listen to the podcast of megan and

00:20:00 - 00:20:02 | Speaker 2:

Announcing to everyone that she is now a Swifty.

00:20:02 - 00:20:05 | Speaker 5:

I heard that. I love it. I love it. Yes.

00:20:05 - 00:20:06 | Speaker 2:

Yes. So she's.

00:20:06 - 00:20:09 | Speaker 5:

You can always be a Swifty at any time. It doesn't matter.

00:20:09 - 00:20:25 | Speaker 2:

I don't know. We just heard word that Taylor's going to issue at noon today a press release about Megan and whether or not she wants Megan or not. She's considering Megan announcing that she's a Swifty an insurrection. So she's thinking that this might be a little bit of an insurrection here.

00:20:25 - 00:20:27 | Speaker 5:

That is awesome. Love it.

00:20:27 - 00:20:28 | Speaker 2:

Thank you. We love you so much.

00:20:29 - 00:20:30 | Speaker 5:

Thank you so much. Love you, too. Bye.
