Mojo in the morning show. So, Shannon, you are doing a trip with the kids for the independence vacation that we're going to be going on?

00:02:12 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 2:

We are. We're leaving on Sunday. And I have a question for you because I want to make myself feel a little bit better with something that happened this past weekend. And have you ever been planning a trip for a really long time only to realize that you forgot to book an important part of it? So I was trying to get everything organized for this trip. I'm actually taking the kids to Florida for a couple of days. And so I get really bad anxiety before I go on a trip, especially like just making sure everything is in order and organized. Packing anxiety. I like to pack well before. So I checked my flights yesterday morning, all good, although they did change them four hours earlier than scheduled. But okay, it was fine. Wait, you booked a flight in- I booked it for 10.30 in the morning, and now it's leaving at 6.02 a.m. Holy cow. Yes. What's worse, four hours early or four hours later? Early. No, or late, I would say. At least we're getting there a little bit earlier, but we just have to wake up really early. But the transportation from the airport to the hotel, I had to make sure that that was all in order, fine. laid out all of the kids clothes to pack fine checked the hotel reservation nope didn't have that nope nope couldn't find it anywhere in my email and I have I don't know if you guys organize your gmail by folders so I have a folder for travel and I that's exactly where it would have been well it wasn't in there so then I searched all mail thinking well maybe I put it in the wrong folder nope had nothing so i had to call the hotel yesterday thank god the reservations guy was so sweet and he was like no you actually do have a reservation i don't know why it didn't get it actually didn't get sent to me but especially because it probably would have been more expensive to book like a couple days they're completely sold out i asked that question too because i said had i not booked this would i have been able to get a reservation and he said no they are they are at capacity but i thought oh this is a good topic of have you ever forgotten to book the the plane the hotel the rental whatever a ticket for your husband 844 mojo live 844-665-6548

00:04:18 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 4:

i wonder if there's any people that have ever done the i forgot to book the like return flight or something like that right you booked a one-way by accident because sometimes you'll see the price of tickets and you're like god that price of tickets is expensive not knowing a price of any ticket is expensive one way or or both ways well if you remember in the fall i think it was this past

00:04:40 - 00:04:49 | Speaker 2:

fall we we do a big family trip with my dad and my stepmom and i totally forgot to tell my sister what weekend it was so the night before i was like hey are you driving with me are you driving

00:04:49 - 00:05:33 | Speaker 4:

with dad and she goes what are you talking about oops forgot to invite her um you forgot to invite By the way, you should not be the planner of any of your. bad family vacations way too much on my plate they need like remember the old days when you had travel agents and you had somebody that could actually call and just have them take care of everything for you um 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 have you ever had this happen to you as people are starting to go and book more than ever don't feel bad shannon there are so many people on our phone lines that are just like you shannon thought that she forgot to book on her family vacation where they were staying jasmine this actually happened but it happened even worse what happened

00:05:33 - 00:05:41 | Speaker 5:

well we booked our hotel we took the time off work me and my husband packed went to the hotel

00:05:41 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 4:

to find out i booked the wrong date wait so you did when were your dates but later they were the

00:05:48 - 00:06:02 | Speaker 5:

next weekend yeah so we had to um actually thank god there was um hotel like rooms available that day so we had to rebuy our hotel room and had to give away the ones for the next weekend because

00:06:02 - 00:06:38 | Speaker 3:

we couldn't take off work oh my god oh gosh it's so funny yeah i was with a girlfriend last night and i was telling her about this like oh man it was a close call and she said don't feel bad last week she took her kids away with her husband they got to the airport at 8 30 in the morning and they saw a different city on like the the board or whatever and so she went up to the the ticket agent and was like hey i just want to make sure our gate didn't get changed and she goes ma'am your ticket is for 8 30 this evening they were at the airport a full 12 hours early did they drive all the way home and just hang out they were home they were they were at their death

00:06:38 - 00:07:00 | Speaker 4:

oh geez so would they stay at the airport yeah sometimes the airports are fun and there's an i mean i know it depends on where you are yeah there's good airports it's not bad like some of the airports actually are are not horrible and then there are airports like that like that happening to you and you're in the what is the other terminal the smith is it smith terminal or

00:07:00 - 00:07:04 | Speaker 3:

i think it's called the north terminal now or it's named isn't it named after police commissioner

00:07:04 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 4:

yeah it's named after the warren evans yeah yeah the evans terminal yeah oh it is yes yeah so so i if you're in that one no offense to anybody that works in that one there's not as much stuff there you know what i mean there's not as much fun to go jamie what's going on hey so you guys

00:07:21 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 6:

just about gave me a heart attack i'm still actually shaking from it i have this once in a lifetime trip coming up in uh end of november in early december i've booked everything to other flights multiple places i'm staying but you just reminded me that i haven't even booked my flight from michigan to the other countries yeah wow i'm shaking right now i'm like oh my everything's paid, and I totally forgot about the very most important flight, getting there and

00:07:48 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 4:

getting back home. Wait, when is it happening? When is exactly it going on?

00:07:52 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 6:

So it's actually, we're starting November 29th, and then we'll be hitting London and then the Maldives for my birthday, and then back to London and then back to Michigan.

00:08:02 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 5:

Do you need somebody to go with you?

00:08:04 - 00:08:08 | Speaker 4:

Well, she may not be going. She doesn't have her trip planned. I know.

00:08:08 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 6:

I'm freaking out right now. Like, oh, God, I really hope the prices didn't go up on those flights.

00:08:12 - 00:08:39 | Speaker 4:

Well, here's another thing, too. Have you heard about what's going on as far as the airlines are concerned so the busiest time ever in the history of airlines and they're trying to do this switch over to 5g and i don't even know what this means i know that our phones did it and all it did it was cause for me to have worse phone service 5g was like supposedly going to be like the greatest thing ever well the airlines aren't even close to having this thing switched over so they're hold on play this for you new concerns

00:08:39 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 2:

for air travelers heading into the height of the summer travel season. The FAA last night forced to issue a temporary ground stop for all planes in and out of Washington, D.C. area airports because of equipment problems at an air traffic control facility. The ground stop lifted after a few hours, but it comes just days after a government audit found critical U.S. air traffic controller facilities are facing serious staffing shortages and the FAA, quote, lacks a plan to address them. Meanwhile, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg warns there may be more headaches to come due to a looming deadline for 5G wireless technology on planes. The deadline is July 1st

00:09:19 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 1:

for a lot of the changeovers that need to be done between the FAA and the cellular companies and the airlines. There is mostly a feeling that they've got it under control, but by the same token, there are some people that are still concerned. By the way, people are wondering,

00:09:33 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 4:

Is this for your ability to be able to make a phone call or to be able to get service? No, this is so that the planes can land, okay?

00:09:42 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 2:

The issue is planes have a device called a radio altimeter telling them how far they are from the ground as they come in for a landing. Turns out the frequencies used by 5G are similar. Experts worry there could be confusion, especially when a plane is trying to land in bad weather.

00:09:56 - 00:10:03 | Speaker 1:

What happens on July 1 is that all the aircraft that need to land,

00:10:00 - 00:10:26 | Speaker 3:

Needed filters put in their antenna lines for the radio altimeters should be in compliance. Otherwise, they're going to have some restriction in terms of how low they can fly on approaches. Delta says about 190 of its planes won't be equipped in time. United says its United Express planes could be affected. JetBlue reportedly won't have upgrades in place until October and expects some impact on low visibility days. Wow. All right.

00:10:26 - 00:10:27 | Speaker 7:

What does it make me feel?

00:10:27 - 00:10:30 | Speaker 3:

That kind of scares me a little bit

00:10:30 - 00:10:32 | Speaker 7:

You know what this never happens to?

00:10:32 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 8:

My camper

00:10:33 - 00:10:36 | Speaker 7:

Trying to worry about it driving across the country

00:10:36 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 8:

I don't know I'm going to say this That this 5G thing was a stupid idea And I don't know why they needed to do it Because I just don't know the technical aspects of it But it feels like it's screwed up A ton of things Don't you feel like ever since the 5G thing came out That your phone service is not as great as it used to be?

00:10:54 - 00:11:20 | Speaker 6:

My phone service is crap It's not even not as great It's crap. It's the worst. Do any of your phones go into SOS mode all the time? What does that mean? I have no idea. Because once a day, it seems like my phone goes into SOS mode, and I have to restart my phone completely for anything to work on it. Wait, so what happens? Like, you get a message on the screen? No, instead of where it says, like, my Wi-Fi won't work, and wherever it says my bars for whatever.

00:11:20 - 00:11:21 | Speaker 8:

Yeah, like up top here.

00:11:21 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Instead of having any bars, it just says SOS.

00:11:24 - 00:11:30 | Speaker 8:

Which is the area that you go to if you ever push your buttons too much on the side.

00:11:31 - 00:11:35 | Speaker 6:

I just did that and talked to a very sweet 911 operator over the weekend.

00:11:35 - 00:11:41 | Speaker 8:

Yeah, it will call 911. But for some reason on yours, and Mike, you say it's yours too? Yeah. It just randomly does that.

00:11:41 - 00:11:56 | Speaker 9:

Yes. Do you guys have iPhones? Yes. Yeah, I'm Googling right now. Basically, you're saying that you can't establish a cellular network connection. So your phone automatically goes to SOS mode so that you can at least call emergency if you need to.

00:11:56 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 6:

But it happens almost every day, and it goes away if I restart my phone.

00:11:59 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 9:

Yeah, that's the only way it'll work, too.

00:12:01 - 00:12:31 | Speaker 4:

So, Megan, when I was at Bonnaroo, they actually, the city of Manchester, had to send out a mass text on iPhones because so many people were hitting their emergency buttons or whatever during the festival. So the city was getting hundreds and hundreds of SOS notifications and calls because of that iPhone feature. And I screenshotted the alert that we all got because we all thought that was a real emergency happening, but they were just sending out an alert saying to stop hitting those buttons. That's crazy.

00:12:31 - 00:12:51 | Speaker 8:

That is nuts. Yeah, that is crazy that that's going on. Man, I don't know. To me, somebody needs that smart to tell me what the reasoning is, 5G. I mean, obviously, I get the idea that they didn't roll it out that great, but can't we just go back to 4G? You know what I mean?

00:12:51 - 00:12:53 | Speaker 6:

Or can we skip 5G and just go to 6G?

00:12:53 - 00:12:56 | Speaker 8:

Let's go to, yeah. Maybe that sounds like it would be even a better idea.

00:12:57 - 00:13:12 | Speaker 7:
