college we want you to hear what our students educators and business leaders have to say i

00:01:25 - 00:02:09 | Speaker 1:

would say Bishop State is like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, please in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be the thing you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or need 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out of the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits

00:02:09 - 00:02:19 | Speaker 2:

I would go for a four-year. Ready to make your own Bishop Statement? Visit bishop.edu today and start building your tomorrow at Bishop State Community College. All right, it is Mojo in

00:02:19 - 00:02:36 | Speaker 5:

the morning uh good to have you guys here with us uh we got uh channel 955 in detroit 104.5 snx in grand rapids and 92.5 kiss fm that's right uh toledo uh hey shannon uh how's wes's

00:02:36 - 00:04:11 | Speaker 4:

golf game going oh my god you sorry something in my mouth um you know this because he's been hitting you up for all sorts of golf advice so my husband is starting to get into golf and not necessarily by choice this is more so for work he's headed on a work trip um in a couple of weeks and he's golfing a few of those days with clients he's not really a golfer i think he's golfed in the past but he that is that's not necessarily his hobby that he gets together with buddies and plays golf all the time and then he was told that this spring and summer you know pick it up because you're going to be playing a lot. That's just how, you know, you connect with clients, business is done, whatever. Guys, I know nothing about golf, nothing about, I have picked up a golf club to putt-putt and that's it. I, that's, I am, I, when I say I know nothing about golf and Wes is trying to talk to me, he's so excited about this. So he's asking me about buying golf clubs and hey what do you think like a budget for golf clubs should be and clothes and i'm like i don't i have no idea if a golf club costs a hundred dollars or a thousand dollars i have no i do not ask me any questions about the game i am clueless you didn't smash that guy's window in though no that was no i was like wrong person we did probably thought about it but no i didn't No, we did it once for Netflix. Oh, we did. We did.

00:04:12 - 00:04:43 | Speaker 5:

But here, real quick, I want to jump on here real quick. So the topic I think here is, what is your husband's hobby or boyfriend's hobby that to you, you could care less about? Because Shannon could care less. And I find it extremely, very disappointing. Why? I think she needs to be a supportive spouse. This man supports her. He comes to events that she does. Anything she needs, he's there right by her. I mean, you think he wanted to be at that freaking auto show? He didn't want to be at the auto show.

00:04:43 - 00:04:47 | Speaker 4:

I was there for him. Let the record show. Okay, check that.

00:04:47 - 00:04:47 | Speaker 5:

All right, take that back.

00:04:48 - 00:04:49 | Speaker 4:

And by...

00:04:49 - 00:04:54 | Speaker 5:

But with this said, so I've had conversations with Shannon's husband, Wes.

00:04:54 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 4:

Talk to Tom today. Tom and I are going to Carl's Golf Land today. Talk to Tom today. He sent me all these...

00:05:00 - 00:05:05 | Speaker 1:

clothes from grayson to go by i'm like oh okay the guy the guy i you seem like he's not excited

00:05:05 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 4:

he seems like he's excited no that's not what i said he is very excited and i am worried that because this is something that i know nothing about and he is going to be it is going to be taking up a lot of his time boohoo yes i feel left out but also i just like someone i don't know you

00:05:27 - 00:06:05 | Speaker 1:

know what this reminds me of this reminds me of this reminds me about 15 years ago maybe more than that i had a really good friend of mine whose wife got into pampered chef and do you ever hear about this place it was the worst and this guy literally would poo poo on every and this was going to be her like thing her hobby slash extra income and he got so tired of them having pampered chef parties her coming home with baking wear and all this crap i wish we could swear on the radio because this would be and he was so mean about it it actually hurt their relationship it got bad

00:06:05 - 00:07:05 | Speaker 4:

not being mean about it they're no longer together okay another divorce now let me tell you something i am trying so hard to be supportive i i went on the grayson website supporting a detroit business And I thought, I'm going to surprise him and buy him some golf clothes for his trip to California. This first, you know, foray into golf. Very nice of you to do such a thing. I was so excited when he came home from work on Monday night or Tuesday night. I'm like, I have a surprise for you. And so I show him all these things that I bought him. And it was like, he did like one of the things. Mojo, you know that story. Like, I got him this lightweight jacket. I checked how the weather was going to be in the mornings. It's a little cold where he's going to be golfing. So I bought him this lightweight jacket, and he's like, oh, well, it swishes too much. I don't want to be the swishy guy. I'm like, you know what? It's got to swish. He's bigger than you. Buy your own clothes. You sound very supportive, though. I'm trying.

00:07:05 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 1:

Sounds like you're doing the thing. So when he swings the club, it's...

00:07:08 - 00:07:14 | Speaker 5:

He is really excited. I'm just clueless. What happens when he asks you to do it?

00:07:14 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 1:

Oh, yeah.

00:07:16 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 4:

I am going to say, I don't know.

00:07:18 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 1:

you watch so you'll get into it you'll you'll like it you'll actually uh i know a lot is chelsea's

00:07:25 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 4:

one of them chelsea actually is that i have no interest guys i very honest with you there are other things i would love to learn i tried tennis and pickleball last summer loved learning both of those i would love to get better at those yeah but i love golfing except with men it's the culture

00:07:42 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 5:

No, it truly is the culture and the competitiveness to me is, like, for me, it's almost like cornhole. Like, it is a drinking, leisurely game, and guys never treat it like that.

00:07:53 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 1:

You've got to play with me and my buddies, because literally all we do is drink, and these guys smoke cigars. I don't do it, but I'll drink. Laura, we're talking about what is the hobby of your man that drives you nuts?

00:08:04 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 3:

I cannot stand that my fiancé loves Dungeons & Dragons. Oh, okay, you win. That's worse. He plans to do it once a month. Have you ever done it? He's gotten, like, so good over the years where he'll, like, ask me, like, two or three weeks in advance, like, hey, can I do D&D on this Saturday? Do we have anything going on? And I'm like, you know, I'll just figure out my own entire weekend because it's like all they do is they'll drink until four in the morning. They're in the garage. Their shirts are off. No. Here's the thing. Why are they? Because it's stressful. The game is stressful.

00:08:39 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 5:

Their lives on the line. You have to make the right decision. This is eight-hour storytelling, and you could mess up the whole thing with the wrong decision, okay? You've got to do it once with them. It genuinely is so much fun. Well, why are they naked?

00:08:54 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 1:

Because they had swishy shirts.

00:08:57 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 3:

They just love to drink, and they'll just be like, all right, it's time to take our shirts off. And, like, I'll get home from work, and I'll just go say hi to them. One, two, three.

00:09:07 - 00:09:07 | Unknown:

No.

00:09:08 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 5:

I don't think you're throwing respect on your man right now. I got to stick up for him. I know that he is probably a knight in this scenario, and there are lives on the hook. He's got 17 horses that he has to get to cross the river, and if some of them drown, they'll drown by the dragon. You're getting confused with Oregon Trail. Is this what they were doing in Stranger Things?

00:09:28 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God, yeah. Yes.

00:09:29 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 5:

It is very fun.

00:09:31 - 00:09:37 | Speaker 1:

Hold on a second. Amy, what was your, and this is, by the way, her ex-husband's hobby that drove her crazy.

00:09:37 - 00:09:55 | Speaker 2:

He didn't do this when we were married, which makes me laugh now, but he collects sports cards and it's gone off the rails. He goes to card shows. He orders things online. He's teaching all of his kids at the house how to do it. That's a lucrative business, though.

00:09:55 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 5:

Oh, my God. It is. That's what I told myself. with my pokemon cards too what i got six dollars is he making money look i i i would support it if it was successful all the time yeah but when my 10 year old comes to me and says mom it's kind

00:10:13 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 3:

of like gambling i'm totally behind him thank you for the call uh kiana what's up how are you hey how are you good shannon doesn't like wes's new hobby uh what about you do you your guy have

00:10:29 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 4:

a hobby that you don't like um he is obsessed with pokemon cards anytime i go to the store gotta get a pokemon card i'm telling you i'm sorry i take off

00:10:38 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 3:

could you imagine did you ever think he was a pokemon kind of guy

00:10:45 - 00:11:01 | Speaker 4:

um he hid that from me for a long time a very long time and then it just came out and he's like hey babe why don't you open one get excited about it he's like you're opening it wrong oh my gosh You've got to put it in the sleeve. What are you doing? You're ruining it. I'm like, oh, my God.

00:11:01 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 3:

This could be your life, Shannon.

00:11:02 - 00:11:03 | Speaker 9:

He's got to catch them all.

00:11:03 - 00:11:11 | Speaker 3:

I like it. You know what? Michelle brings up a really interesting one. A lot of guys do this. Michelle, what is it?

00:11:12 - 00:11:55 | Speaker 6:

I am a football widow during football season. And I just want to preface this by saying my husband has a lot of different hobbies and interests, and I'm very supportive. It's the obsession about it. He is, like, he's obsessed with, he's on, like, a million different fantasy football leagues. Yeah. He's a track of absolutely everything. Like, the Lions, I get it. He's trying to teach our sons, you know, to be a big Lions fan. And that's cute. But it drives me crazy when, like, you can't remember what you're going to the grocery store for, but you can remember stats from some random guy. Yeah. But here's college career and what high school they went to.

00:11:55 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 9:

I got to stick up for him again. Is he a lifelong fan?

00:11:59 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 8:

Of the Lions, yes. Okay, this man has known nothing but hurt and sadness. Let him have some joy. We are living our best lives. Give him this. It's not going to last long. It always turns around at some point. Let us have joy.

00:12:14 - 00:12:29 | Speaker 3:

Here's the thing. Wes is doing this for work because this is a thing that's, you know, to bring business, you know, right? A lot of people do work on the golf course. Yeah. You could be married to Lindsay's fiancée, who Lindsay's fiancée is into what, Lindsay?

00:12:30 - 00:12:41 | Speaker 7:

He is really into Star Wars. Oh, good God. No. He actually has Jedi robes that his mom has for Christmas.

00:12:41 - 00:12:43 | Speaker 9:

Hell yeah, I bet the cozies help.

00:12:44 - 00:13:01 | Speaker 7:

He has five of the authentic Disney lightsabers, lightsabers and he actually asked if we could go on a honeymoon to disney world so that he could make his own lightsaber so he would be actually a jedi is his name joe carbolla sounds like my son

00:13:01 - 00:13:17 | Speaker 3:

uh and nicole this might be even better than star wars or pokemon or any of the previous callers What is your guy into? Say, oh, you lost your, say it again.

00:13:18 - 00:13:19 | Speaker 6:

To the core.

00:13:19 - 00:13:23 | Speaker 3:

Say it again, no. Say it again, because we missed you. What is he into?

00:13:24 - 00:13:25 | Speaker 9:

Lionel Train.

00:13:26 - 00:13:27 | Speaker 7:

Lionel Train.

00:13:28 - 00:13:35 | Speaker 9:

Hell yeah, dude. This man is going to grow into the cutest old man you're going to be married to. You got to stick with this for the long game.

00:13:35 - 00:13:42 | Speaker 7:

I love his heart, but sometimes it is just new stuff for me. That man is never going to cheat on you.

00:13:43 - 00:13:47 | Speaker 3:

That's great. Lauren, what is your husband into?

00:13:48 - 00:13:52 | Speaker 6:

My husband loves rocks. Rocks?

00:13:52 - 00:13:54 | Speaker 3:

He collects rocks?

00:13:54 - 00:13:55 | Speaker 8:

I'm trying, guys.

00:13:56 - 00:14:08 | Speaker 7:

He collects rocks. He loves rock hunting. Every time we go on vacation, he brings home bags of rocks. Oh, my God. You guys, those are so good. Wes, enjoy the swishy clothes. Wes, I love you, honey.
