restaurant that Wes and I went to. Okay. Um, so Wes and I met for dinner at a place in downtown Detroit. I am not going to name this place because I actually really like it. And a friend of mine is the manager there. You just want valet again. Yeah. This issue is specifically with the valet and Wes and I met in separate cars because he had somewhere to go like immediately or he had somewhere to be, excuse me, immediately beforehand. Anyway. So we were driving separate cars. So I was by myself okay and i never do valet but i did valet in this particular situation because it was so freaking cold and i didn't feel like walking like parking my car and walking through the parking garage and from the parking garage i was like i it's fine wes had done the same thing and he told me it's he's like it's 15 bucks for the valet at this point to me when it's when it's eight degrees outside yeah 15 is worth it okay charge for valet they got set prices yeah yeah

And you got to check that because sometimes you think it's complimentary and you're, you know, I gave, I gave the valet, I went to a restaurant, I'm sorry to interrupt your story, but I went to a restaurant, uh, in Birmingham and I valeted and I thought to myself, Oh, it's complimentary. I come out and I thought it was a big shot. I gave the guy a $10 bill. The guy goes, uh, I'm sorry, but the valet cost, uh, $15 or something like that. Basically I was under, I was like, Oh, I thought I was Mr. I was like Mr. Big shotting, big shotting.

I can't remember. Did you say what area you were in? No, but I'll tell you off the air. So it was $15. I knew this because Wes had said it to me when we were eating dinner.

And I'm like, okay, cool. So I, we, I go to leave dinner. I get back to my car. I hand the guy a $20 bill when he brings me my car and I say, thank you. Okay. Give him a $5 tip. Man. Okay. Well, it was $15 and I gave him a $5 tip. Yeah. I start to drive away and I get a notification on my phone from American express, which happens every time my card is charged and it happens immediately. i get a notification that says my card has been charged by that detroit metropolis parking app do you know what i'm talking about because i have my license yes i have my license and like an account with them so that if i park in any of the garages in the city it just scans your license plate and charges your card you don't have to like fiddle with the thing so i'm like okay wait a second and then I realized this business the valet parks the valet cars in one of those garages so my car got charged to park in the garage and the valet didn't tell me that so they're they're double dipping do you see he took my 20 and didn't say a damn thing to me and then I got charged to park my car in the 15 dollars actually to get to park in the garage do you know like you think he knew 100 they do this all damn day long i was so mad how would he know how would he know that you had the uh that your car was already uh because a lot of people do so he could have said to me it's no other way he could have said hey your car's gonna get you're gonna no way no i does

it say on your car this is a metropolis parking thing no but they know that the garage that they parking is a metropolis i understand that but that's the problem is they have to assume that

a good chunk of their customers i didn't have that automatically gets charged i have no idea

what a metropolis this is a very popular place i haven't go through like detroit too to shannon's point there are many garages in downtown detroit that operate through this system and it clearly states where normally you would go push for help or you'll punch a ticket it says that this is how we operate soon as you go through here most of them are going to charge you there's signs everywhere

But here's the thing, though, for you, though, he didn't, maybe he doesn't know. So maybe what you need to do is contact the restaurant and say to the valet, they double dipped you.

So I didn't contact the restaurant, but you can bet your ass. I turned my car around and went back and parked in the valet area. And I got out of my car and I said to him, I go, you guys, I go, I just got double charged for the valet. And he pretended he didn't know what I was talking about. And I showed him the phone. I showed him, you know, the thing. And I was like, my car got charged because of the garage you put it in. And he goes, oh, I thought you were giving us a $20 tip. That's what I was going to say. And I said, no. And I made him give it back to me. Oh, it's okay. I really did. I was so mad.

You made him give you the $20 back?

I made him give me the $20 back because I was already charged. My credit card was already charged to park my car. So he got no tip.

Here's the thing, though. I'm going to tell you this. I truly believe that, and maybe somebody from Metropolis Garages call us up, but I truly believe this guy is an innocent bystander because I think he just parks his cars in that garage and that's how they work it. They work it with the Metropolis garages because I know how it is that I stayed at that Shinola and they park in the Z lot. And so I think that might be a Metropolis too. And I don't have a Z lot Z or whatever the hell it is. And so they park in there and I get a thing later that says that your car is coming back from the Z lot. I'm like, I don't even know the Z lot.

You better be careful that you're not getting double charged by Shinola and the app.
