Back to Mojo in the Morning. Mojo in the Morning show. Shannon says, this ain't Christmas. This ain't Christmas.

00:01:41 - 00:02:10 | Speaker 5:

It's not. Okay, so I feel like Wes and I are trying to figure out what in the heck we're doing for each other for Christmas. And this is a thing every year. And this year it started off with, we're not going to get each other anything because we had an expensive year with the wedding and moving and all of those things. So we're like, we're not going to do gifts for each other. We decided we're going to both go in on like a fancy coffee machine to have at home. That's something we've both been wanting. We're like, that will be our gift to each other. Nice.

00:02:11 - 00:02:13 | Speaker 4:

That will be the gift that keeps on giving. No, seriously.

00:02:13 - 00:03:27 | Speaker 5:

I want like a good coffee machine. We just have a curate right now. well then it turned into we'll do that and then we'll get each other stockings because that's what we've always done is just do stockings well then yesterday i caught him taking notes on some stuff that i was talking about and they were like gift like bigger things like clothes like like gift items not stocking items and so i'm like i do not trust him whatsoever to just do a stocking and then us go in on this coffee maker and so then we're talking about that and i i had a bunch of his mail and like packages on the kitchen counter and he's like please don't open anything from you know now on they might be for you and I said oh are these for my stocking right that we're supposed to just be doing and he goes no stockings are for stuff like socks and Listerine strips what deodorant and tooth like the necessities no no it's not I said no no stockings are for the best gifts really no also disagree oh see we always got really good maybe not the best gifts but good gifts really santa brought great gifts in our stockings stockings for me

00:03:27 - 00:03:44 | Speaker 4:

in our house were always like cool fun things but not like big big presents but not necessities not toothbrushes well by the way if you're giving toothbrushes and toothpaste to your kids You basically gave them Tuesday of last week That they should have had already

00:03:44 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 5:

You are not in charge of any of our children's stockings Because they're not getting Listerine strips on Christmas morning

00:03:53 - 00:04:24 | Speaker 4:

Moja, what were your stockings? So we would get Santa would come And he would leave under the tree for us A bunch of big presents And then we would have our stockings That were hung by the chimney with care In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there And then no, but they were inside of them would be we might get like some uh bombas socks or something like that you know like whatever the socks were or we might get we might get like a fun little like uh little toys like squirt guns or things like that i don't know but we wouldn't get like big things in the stockings what would

00:04:24 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 6:

you get these are all different candy so we had traditional but that's like all our stockings were were like treats and every year my dad would get us those and i don't know if they're popular up in metro detroit area but those smashable chocolate oranges yeah you know shannon i love those and i like it's not christmas if i don't get a smashable chocolate orange see my mom would santa and my mom

00:04:51 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 1:

would always put makeup like what would you guys do with your stockings yeah i mean when i was We never

00:05:00 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 3:

got gifts in our stockings like stockings is decoration for real really i thought this was gonna make you a stocking no i'm straight oh yeah i mean i thought stockings were like stupid to be honest with you because like you can't you can't fit anything in a stock that i would actually want as long as the bottom of the tree is bangled let me tell you something the past couple of years

00:05:21 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 7:

that wes and i have just done stockings i have gotten so creative i've put amazing things concert tickets in those stockings like i really tried to be creative with getting good gifts in the stocking because that was the that was the rule but like when he when he's saying for you know

00:05:37 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 6:

it's it's for necessity isn't it yeah i know that i've said this before but it is really unfortunate you're not my wife because you are a great gift giver so west should be grateful concert tickets in your stocking are you kidding me concert tickets would be awesome peanut butter cups and chocolate oranges sam what are your thoughts on this one what are

00:05:55 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 4:

stockings meant for well good morning everyone good morning so stock stockings in my family were like mojo said it's for like essentials for the year my mom would put nail polishes i like or like pack of deodorant and like oh no that's what less so it's like deodorant he kept saying

00:06:15 - 00:06:40 | Speaker 1:

but all that all that stuff you should already have stockings should be something like oh my god this is what i wanted like an itunes gift card or things nice it's nice mcdonald's remember the mcdonald's book yeah lottery tickets mcdonald's had a book that you could actually pull out you know i get french fries today i get a big mac tomorrow you know something like that damn like

00:06:40 - 00:06:44 | Speaker 4:

it like an entertainment type book well have a merry christmas everyone you too everybody but

00:06:44 - 00:06:58 | Speaker 1:

shannon when she gets her deodorant what's up ashley how you doing good morning by the way he should get you uh i got a i got a tampon story to tell later but he should get you some tampons i don't have a period anymore but sure they have candy cane tampons by the way they do not

00:06:58 - 00:07:12 | Speaker 3:

they do not it's just white and do you bring her in what's up that's a real question move on move on ashley what's going on good morning good morning good morning good morning

00:07:12 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 5:

Ashley, Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. We, growing up, my mom and Santa Claus would put both, like, fun things and, like, the necessities. So, like, I have two kids now. We do the exact same thing. Like, my son, since he was a little kid and could talk, would always say, I need a road for deodorant, like his dad. So, he always gets a new deodorant every Christmas. But it's, like, a fancier one, not just his regular one that he uses. And then my daughter will always want, you know, like Shannon was saying, like, makeup and nail polishes. stuff like that but we also still give them like socks or things that like they're boring to open christmas presents so we put them we put the smaller necessities in the stockings because they still have a little bit of fun plus snacks and you know those kind of things like megan was saying your favorite candy that you don't get to buy at the store all the time yeah so kids if

00:08:03 - 00:08:08 | Speaker 6:

you're listening make sure you ask for socks today and say oh i have no socks so that you don't get

00:08:08 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 7:

Oh, see, it's too late. My mom would always be like, nope, it's after Thanksgiving. Put it on your Christmas list.

00:08:15 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 1:

Everything. There was the cutoff.

00:08:17 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 7:

Everything. If I needed shampoo, she'd be like, put it on your Christmas list.

00:08:21 - 00:08:23 | Speaker 1:

What's up, Tina? How you doing?

00:08:24 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 2:

Hey, good morning, guys. How's everybody doing? Good morning.

00:08:27 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 1:

We're doing great.

00:08:29 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 2:

Good. So when I was growing up, our stockings were always full of, like, super fun, like, little So, trinkets, toys, whatever. But for an entire year, you know how cereal boxes used to come with toys in them? Uh-huh. For an entire year, we all wondered, where are these toys? Why are we getting all these cereal boxes with no toys? Christmas morning comes, our stockings were stuffed with all the cereal box toys. Oh, wow. That is so funny.

00:08:56 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 7:

That was the best part of cereals, by the way. Wasn't it? The toy in the bottom.

00:08:59 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 1:

Did they stop because some kid sued because he choked on something? I don't know, but they don't do it anymore. They don't even do the Cracker Jack stuff anymore. They don't? No, there's no good thing in a Cracker Jack box.

00:09:10 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 6:

The Wonder Balls. I wonder, wonder what's in a Wonder Ball. You remember that?

00:09:13 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 1:

No? It was at the bottom of what cereal?

00:09:15 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 6:

No, not a cereal. You would buy them, and they would come in a box, and they would buy the checkout areas or whatever, and it was chocolate wrapped around a plastic egg, and inside the egg was either more candy or toys. Oh, that's like Kinder Eggs. Yes, it was the American Kinder Egg. Okay.

00:09:30 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 1:

Here's a story that just popped in my head out of the blue. I remember I got punished when I was a kid because we used to hang real candy canes up on our Christmas tree. And the Christmas tree would turn out uneven. And my dad, because we never got candy in our house. Believe it or not, look at me. Do you think I got candy when I was a kid? Stop. You would think I got a lot. No, I got mashed potatoes and gravy. That's what I got. Well, when we were kids, we would take the candy canes off of the tree and eat the candy canes because we were so excited that there was candy hanging on the tree.

00:09:55 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 3:

And my dad would go, who took the goddamn candy canes off of the tree?

00:10:00 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 6:

And there'd be like half a tree with no candy games on it. And all I remember was my dad, he'd go, Tommy! And we'd be like, up in my room, I know. Real quick, on candy cannies, don't like a part of you die when they break? Oh, yeah, when you don't get paid.

00:10:14 - 00:10:21 | Speaker 5:

Those wrappers are bitch. Do you have a sibling that you would like suck on the one end and make it sharp and then like poke them with it? Yeah.

00:10:22 - 00:10:24 | Speaker 6:

That's not like prison. Hold on, hold on.

00:10:24 - 00:10:27 | Speaker 5:

You have to get it as plenty as possible without breaking it.

00:10:27 - 00:10:31 | Speaker 6:

This is the best thing you could ever put in a stocking. Callie, are you there?

00:10:31 - 00:10:32 | Speaker 5:

Hey, good morning.

00:10:33 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 6:

Callie, what would you get in your stocking?

00:10:35 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 5:

So since I got older, my mom assigned my dad our stockings, and now every year we all get a fifth.

00:10:43 - 00:10:50 | Speaker 6:

Is that the greatest? Booze. I love that. What did you, why is your fifth? What is your favorite?

00:10:52 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 4:

Typically, he gets us all what we like, so I usually just get a bottle of Cheetos. but sometimes he'll change it up for us.

00:10:59 - 00:11:04 | Speaker 6:

That's the greatest, man. That is a Tito's Christmas right there. That's the best. Awesome. Merry Christmas.

00:11:04 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 4:

You too, thanks. Merry Christmas from Mojo in the morning.
