00:01:25 - 00:02:09 | Speaker 3:

my associates of science and general education with an emphasis in business administration. To me, it was a no-brainer when you go out here and you're looking for funding to go back to college as a 40-year-old man. I got six people in my household. The extra money just doesn't just grow out of trees. For me to be able to be accepted through FAFSA and to have Bishop State pay for all of my tuition, not only that, but the curriculums, you know, they make it so easy to understand on their website. Like I said, I'm a 40-year-old man, so I don't use technology too much, but it was very understandable where I needed to go. It was extremely fast. These past two years, things have just moved in a total different type of way. It's like its own moving entity to see things manifest the way that they do. Ready to make your own

College. Mojo on the morning show. So Shannon, I've been waiting for this topic all morning. And Shannon thinks that she busted Megan doing something that she should not be doing. And what is that, Shannon?

00:02:27 - 00:03:42 | Speaker 5:

OK, so I am so anti-smoking. I am nuts about it. I have asthma. I know way too many people my age who have lung cancer and other related similar issues. My kids will go up to people who are smoking. I've had to really mitigate this and go, you know, you're going to die. Right. It's just a thing. And so I, I have been noticing over the past couple of weeks, especially in the past, I would say week or so, Megan throwing on her coat at certain points during the show and after the show and going outside with some of our co-workers who like the Siggies. Why are you giving me a funny look? It's after the show, but yeah. Okay. Well, you literally just did it. Because my, my other studio is freezing. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, so normally I see you and I know who you're going outside with. I shall not name names. And normally these people huddle around the corner of our new studios in the alley over here. You know what I'm talking about, Mojo. And they smoke and they come back in. So yesterday, this happened immediately after the show. Megan grabs her coat and I see them get in their little group and they're getting ready to walk out to the alley.

00:03:42 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 3:

You're talking about Zach and Teresa?

00:03:43 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 5:

Oh my God, why would you do that? my bad my bad you can smell it on him don't worry okay so they go out and i'm like i am not letting her go down like this and so i sent her a text and said you know i am going to kick your butt if you're smoking right and how did i respond and she goes um i'm not smoking is that what you said i literally said no i said what are you talking about i had no idea what you're talking about I said, can I say your middle name too? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, so I said, you know I'm going to kick your butt if you're out there smoking, right? Or I'm going to kick your butt, right? And she said, why? And I sent a GIF that is somebody like extinguishing somebody else. And it says, no smoking. She wrote, I'm not? I said, Megan Lee Mick. Because it's obvious that she's grabbing her coat and going outside with this group of coworkers. And she was like, I'm going out with them because I like them.

00:04:40 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 7:

And I was like, oh, no, no, no, no, I don't buy it. I would tell you the full story.

00:04:45 - 00:04:57 | Speaker 6:

So this all started probably a year ago. It's so funny to me that this is the first time you're saying it because I go outside with them. I've never noticed it before. Almost every day and have for over a year. In the old building you used to do this? Yes. Have you noticed? I never noticed it.

00:04:57 - 00:04:58 | Speaker 7:

We couldn't see it.

00:04:58 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 6:

No, y'all just, y'all. just the show ends and it's like, maybe he doesn't exist. I get it. I get that that's a vibe. It's fine. Every single day I go outside with them and it started with, um, when I, this is a little bit more serious than I think you guys anticipated. But when I started here, I had a really hard transition into this role, like a very, very difficult transition. And I was having a very difficult time with it. And Teresa has a very similar job to me and was the only one willing to take time to teach me how to do my job and so every day i would go to her i would ask her a million questions and i would end up crying and she would go let's go outside so nobody sees you so we've started this terrible routine of me crying away from everybody which ended up with us going outside or having a cigarette and now every day after work it's just turned into

00:05:51 - 00:06:02 | Speaker 1:

so you I just go out there the smokers smoking the the Siggy's yeah and you you as a non-smoker are okay being around a bunch of smokers smoking six yeah I grew

00:06:02 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 6:

up around smokers my dad was a smoker my grandfather my brother I loved a good cigarette in college you cannot tell me that I didn't love a good menthol cigarette in college and if you get me drunk enough now I'm gonna go around and

00:06:20 - 00:06:29 | Speaker 3:

offer dollars for cigarettes i will acknowledge okay i am not a smoker but like i i do have friends that love a smoky treat or two when they're drinking oh okay you give me a good

00:06:29 - 00:06:55 | Speaker 6:

half about that i want a cigarette but you guys also spend all day with me wouldn't you have noticed i go out one time a day immediately after the show there are some people that are good at hiding the smoke i don't know how they do it jingle ball shannon jingle ball was nine hours for us did you smoke that day no i was like i was by your side for nine hours but sometimes people

00:06:55 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 1:

are sometimes people are friend smokers where they're around friends that smoke and they just smoke when they're around friends social smokes and you're a social exactly i just said i socially but i'm saying but you socially are smoking probably with zach and uh teresa that doesn't

00:07:08 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 3:

like social smoking doesn't worry me but i what if it's five days a week no well i'm saying i was getting concerned because this was becoming a daily thing, and I was like, I will literally punch you in the face. I find out you are smoking every day. It's been a daily thing for a year and a half. What's up, Sasha?

00:07:27 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 5:

I've always been the non-smoker that went out with the smokers. Really?

00:07:31 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 1:

Why would you want to be around all that?

00:07:36 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 5:

I know. I don't like it either. It's the socializing with it. really like everybody that i've always known yeah they've always been smokers i've always been the

00:07:46 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 1:

non-smoker i always think by the way that people that have lied to me about their addictions always

00:07:51 - 00:07:58 | Speaker 5:

have good lies are you sure you're not one of those oh no totally promise okay all right well

00:07:58 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 1:

maybe you are maybe megan's not uh lying to us i feel like megan's telling us a lot a bunch of crap no no where's zach at we should have right there we should have we should have zach uh ask zach the question if uh without saying really the smoker well zach is a smoker we know zach's a

00:08:15 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 6:

smoker i literally just said i smoked in college i don't know i know but why i think about this

00:08:19 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 1:

but i think you're smoking here though out in the hall out in the back just because you think so just if you want to stir it out in the pot go ahead zach i already said my piece with zach and you said that you told me one time that one thing you would never do is lie to me look me in the

00:08:31 - 00:08:45 | Speaker 2:

eyes what are we talking about i honestly have been outside okay getting mark has megan ever smoked a cigarette around you? No. Never. Not once. You'll laugh. Mojo's face is so close to that.

00:08:46 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 6:

Zach, have I ever said I would kill for a cigarette

00:08:49 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 2:

right now? Oh, she said that all the time.

00:08:54 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 6:

A bad day. A bad day. And Zach's like, I want a cigarette.

00:08:59 - 00:09:03 | Speaker 2:

I don't smoke cigarettes. I just want to put that out there. What do you smoke?

00:09:03 - 00:09:06 | Speaker 1:

I'm a breezer. I'm a breezer

00:09:06 - 00:09:10 | Speaker 3:

and you know how much I hate when you do it I know I am such a mom

00:09:10 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 1:

I'm sorry that I accused you Megan's hanging out with you and Teresa she's never put anything in her mouth that she should not have in her mouth

00:09:19 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 2:

besides her fingers

00:09:21 - 00:09:27 | Speaker 6:

how many times has Teresa been like I can give you one and what do I say

00:09:27 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 2:

Teresa's a pusher

00:09:29 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 1:

what's up Chelsea how you doing good how are you guys doing we're doing good what's going on we're we're hoping to have an

00:09:38 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 4:

intervention here with megan what's going on well i uh i uh i used to smoke i don't anymore i haven't for a while um i miss it a lot but i i can't do it because it makes me sick just the smell that makes me sick now so i have to be careful but i um used to talk to a guy and i've actually met a lot of people since then who have done this.

00:10:00 - 00:10:32 | Speaker 11:

same thing that will start smoking to get the smoke breaks at work because they feel like people who smoke get more time and oh my god yeah i used to work in a big call center for h&r block i did tech support yeah and um i i kind of noticed when i quit smoking that because i was a supervisor and i would notice a lot of my team would take off like 10 11 times a day and i'm starting to tally up all the time that they're getting they're getting like a lot more time off during the day

00:10:32 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 3:

but is are they getting that is that all uh like okayed by the company because i don't think that companies okay you going out and just having smoke breaks that's not like something but they just

00:10:42 - 00:10:46 | Speaker 11:

they don't say anything because try telling a smoker you can't go outside and smoke when you

00:10:46 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 3:

have a stressful job are there any companies that do that to you i've often wondered that are there any companies that say no you can't go out so much but that is interesting because if that's

00:10:54 - 00:11:11 | Speaker 7:

the case i'll fake being a smoker too i will say my brother was a manager somewhere and a girl brought in a box of cigarettes and i've always loved my brother for doing this and he said why did you bring those in and she goes the only people that get breaks all the time are the smokers and he was like i will give you all of the breaks give me the box of cigarettes and he

00:11:11 - 00:11:15 | Speaker 3:

threw them away oh wow that's great what a guy what would your brother do if he found out if

00:11:15 - 00:11:21 | Speaker 7:

you were smoking would he be upset with me yeah i mean he saw me doing college yeah jackie what's

00:11:21 - 00:11:56 | Speaker 9:

up hey what's up i worked in a daycare center in the infant room and you know when people drop off the baby you want to smell that johnson and johnson baby smell or whatnot and people that were smokers they would drop their babies off and the blanket the bottle the diapers the babies would smell like cigarette smoke and we used to talk to the parents like hey you know if you want to smoke you know try not to smoke around the baby because if the baby is coming here smelling this strong like smoke are you blowing the smoke on the child because it was definitely super duper

00:11:56 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 3:

strong super strong that's awful it's so sad when that that happens that's why we hope zach never hasn't a child here his kid's gonna come in to the daycare smelling like weed

00:12:08 - 00:12:29 | Speaker 10:

what's up natalie hi natalie yeah so i used to work at a restaurant and i don't smoke but i saw everyone going out so i used to go out with them just to get my break because i didn't think it was fair and then i realized that they were taking the extra time

00:12:29 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 4:

out of our paycheck so i'm doing that that's wow wow how did they determine the time though

00:12:36 - 00:12:54 | Speaker 10:

um i think that they just did like an average which i guess is fair if you're going out like for 15 minutes every day like total they would just like take 15 minutes out and i just thought that was like a decent compromise but i didn't want to get stubbed for that so i stopped doing

00:12:54 - 00:13:01 | Speaker 3:

it that is so interesting yeah yeah well thank you for the call we appreciate you and do you

00:13:01 - 00:13:10 | Speaker 8:

believe megan what do you think i would like to believe megan because i'm such a liar just making

00:13:10 - 00:13:39 | Speaker 5:

This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:14:20 - 00:15:06 | Speaker 2:

Allen Lee, my major is drafting and design. In high school, I did it since my sophomore year, and I kind of wanted to continue it. It was the only thing I was good at. I didn't want to move to a four-year yet. I don't think I was mentally prepared. I found Bishop State. They had the program. I met a few people there. I ended up enrolling. The instructor, first day I met him, I told him about my background. He said, okay, great, you know about this. He built me straight to work. He didn't let me have any leeway. He pushed me to my limits. So I think that made me choose drafting design at Bishop State and stuck with it. The sport's amazing. All my instructors just want to see me succeed. They want to push me to my limit. They want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be. And I really appreciate all of them. With my degree, as of right now, my plan is to work for the city of Mobile with their urban planning department. a job shadow before, and hopefully I will internship over the summer. If you choose Bishop, we're welcome to have you any day. Ready to make your

00:15:06 - 00:15:12 | Speaker 1:

own Bishop statement? Visit bishop.edu today and start building your tomorrow at Bishop State Community College.
