All right, Mojo in the Morning Show. So Shannon taught her daughter something that I actually think that I'm surprised she didn't know already and heard this phrase it just shows you how good of a mom you are that you that your kids actually go to all their stuff but what did you teach your uh your daughter i taught lucy

00:02:52 - 00:03:08 | Speaker 2:

what playing hooky means and i kept saying it so many times that finally she was like mom i don't know what that means you have to explain it to me but my kids never heard uh she'd never heard the term playing hooky is that like old which i don't is that when you know that you're at a

00:03:08 - 00:03:22 | Speaker 6:

certain generation it's funny because playing hooky to me is right away i know exactly what that means but it's funny i don't even know where that comes from and it's funny that we still use it nowadays because i feel like we could find out that one day that that was racist or something

00:03:22 - 00:03:28 | Speaker 2:

i don't i don't think it god i hope it's not if it is i'm so sorry i'm not aware chat gpt

00:03:28 - 00:03:34 | Speaker 5:

it said it go all the way back to the mid to late 1800s okay so chances is racism no oh god okay

00:03:34 - 00:05:32 | Speaker 2:

Well, that is not my intention whatsoever, but you guys know this. My kids are busy kids. They're in fifth grade and first grade and they play all the sports and they, you know, they do all the things and we, I try to make sure that there's some time and some downtime in there, but sometimes it gets overwhelming. And so after school, there's always something like you guys have seen my calendar. It's all color coded with who's going where and what they have and, you know, whatever, all their appointments. But on beautiful weather days, I think it's tough because you've been at school all day. You want to come home and you want to do nothing. You don't want to you want to go outside and play with your friends or whatever. So my friend Lindsay was taking my son Smith to his lacrosse practice. I was supposed to take Lucy to a swim team practice. And so we're getting ready. I packed her bag. We're in the car. We're, you know, backing out of the driveway. and she looked at me with tears in her eyes and she was like mom I just want to spend time with you and not go to swim and in my head I'm like oh my gosh part of a team I got teachers you know she made a commitment but also it was a beautiful day and I'm like done we're skipping swim we're playing hooky we went to one of our favorite restaurants we both sat at the bar they let her sit at the bar which I thought was great and we ate their bread basket and she had a big Shirley temple actually i think she had three and i had a glass of wine and it was the best afternoon ever and the greatest memory although now i'm like did i did i shoot myself in the butt because now she's like i'm gonna shoot yourself in the foot how are you getting your ass sorry i did get shot in the ass one time by a bb gun but that's a story for another day um no but like now she knows what that's all about and she knows that it's a possibility but it was really fun like it's nice to just you know playing hooky did i did i yeah you're gonna play a hooky and she's

00:05:32 - 00:05:40 | Speaker 5:

gonna do this and you're gonna get the phone call from school well this wasn't a school thing no i know she was missing but yeah lucy didn't show up today and she's gonna say mom told me i could play

00:05:40 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 4:

mom taught me yeah mom taught this sometimes i feel like if josiah plays that i just want to be with you car oh we'll work every time exactly every time yeah these kids by the way are way

00:05:53 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 5:

smarter than we were when we were kids first off if we said that to our parents they would feel

00:05:58 - 00:06:07 | Speaker 2:

our forehead to see if we had a fever that's a fact oh not even that if i had a fever i was still going to school or doing my activity unless i was throwing up or bleeding somewhere right

00:06:07 - 00:06:31 | Speaker 4:

badly my parents would be like you want to spend time with me i remember one morning i was so sick i had to be like in a sixth grade or something like that sick as hell end up i got my uniform on that's how like about to go to school i am i'm at that point i throw up my mom like all right it looks like you got it out of you. Go to school. Oh, my God. Like, I was magically healed. Yeah. Went to school and threw up like eight times. She finally came and got me. Like, I'm sick of a lot.

00:06:31 - 00:06:32 | Speaker 5:

Tyler, what's up?

00:06:34 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 3:

First time, long time. Hey, Tyler. Hey. What's going on, buddy? So, I guess, I guess hooky comes from the Dutch meaning.

00:06:47 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 2:

Oh, okay.

00:06:47 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 3:

I don't even know how to say the word If it's hoji spelling But it means to play hide or seek or play in a corner Okay

00:06:56 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 5:

Whenever there's any of these things I always feel like it goes back to Slavery And it's like they hooked up some slave Or something like that And honestly And there's so many times where we say These sayings or these sayings go up And we find out that they're really bad It's like picnic

00:07:16 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 4:

What? Picnic is another one, too?

00:07:18 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 5:

You can't say picnic? Do your research. Are you serious?

00:07:21 - 00:07:24 | Speaker 3:

Jeff was about to flip out if it was racist.

00:07:24 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 5:

Wait, you cannot have a picnic anymore?

00:07:26 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 4:

I mean, there are ideas. Now, obviously, I don't know if any of this can be debunked or it can be verified, but picnic comes from, you know, you can break down the word if you want. Can't say it on the radio. Picnic. Yeah. Oh, the N-word. Exactly.

00:07:42 - 00:07:44 | Speaker 5:

Okay. All right. Wow, I did not know that.

00:07:44 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 4:

Some say that's where it comes from.

00:07:45 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 5:

So let me ask you, black friend of mine, what do you call it when you pack a basket and go eat sandwiches in a park? Carballo Cuban cuisine. No, I know, but what do you call it, though, if you say, hey, we're going to... Lunch on a blanket. Lunch on a blanket. I don't know. All right. I don't know. Because I've always wondered, like, what is it then? Like, what was it called? Did you guys ever... Did you ever use the word picnic before?

00:08:11 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 4:

Who is you guys? Like, all black? Did you? Yeah.

00:08:13 - 00:08:25 | Speaker 5:

You're speaking for them right now. Give me some advice. I don't know. It's interesting when you find out the definition or origins of where it came from.

00:08:25 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 2:

I said something recently on this show that I had no idea was offensive to gypsies. Do you remember the word I used?

00:08:32 - 00:08:32 | Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:08:32 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 2:

And I felt horrible, but I had no idea.

00:08:35 - 00:08:37 | Speaker 4:

I didn't know butch duck was a bad thing.

00:08:38 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 2:

You're not supposed to say it if you know it's a bad thing. I didn't say the word that I just said was bad.

00:08:42 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 4:

I thought you were saying what we didn't know.

00:08:44 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 5:

Hold on a second. Erica, what's going on? It comes from the, spell it out. What's going on, Erica? How you doing?

00:08:54 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 1:

Hey, it's so funny you guys are talking about this. I literally just texted my son and said, hey, tomorrow's an early release. You want to skip school? Yeah. Because I feel like kids need a PTO day just like we do. I agree with you. I freely give them, I freely give them to him and say, hey, you want to pick you up early? you want to stay home because we can stay home and we can do something fun ourselves at home i

00:09:14 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 5:

like that i used to love when my mom would tell me that we were going to have a game show day and we would watch nothing but the tv game shows that we're on like we would because on tv during the day it was always that and then i would watch all of her stories on abc oh her soap opera all my

00:09:29 - 00:09:44 | Speaker 2:

children general hospital i'm gonna tell you something these kids are so scheduled and what are they gonna remember they're gonna you're gonna remember that game show day with your mom more than you remember going to school or whatever. Now, it can't happen all the time, but every once in a while.

00:09:44 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 5:

My mom at that point knew she had cancer and it was terminal. So at that point right there, it was like no school is going to take her away from me. For sure. Christian, what's up?

00:09:54 - 00:09:57 | Speaker 3:

Hey, I actually had a comment about the word picnic.

00:09:57 - 00:09:57 | Speaker 5:

Yes.

00:09:59 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 3:

So, um...

00:10:00 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 4:

Actually, that's false. It is not a racial slur or anything regarding that time era. It's actually from a word called alfresco, which is as part of excursion of, you know, scenic surroundings.

00:10:13 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 9:

Okay.

00:10:14 - 00:10:15 | Speaker 4:

And you have lunch.

00:10:15 - 00:10:18 | Speaker 9:

So we can still have them. Are we good with them? All right, for sure.

00:10:18 - 00:10:20 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, man, you good. You're all right.

00:10:20 - 00:10:37 | Speaker 9:

What about Butch Dike? Stop saying it if it's bad. No, actually, a couple of lesbians, including Nina, says it's okay. She's fine. It's fine with her. Sorry, Nina. So you're fine. Hold on. Andrea is in the car with, as she calls it, who, Andrea?

00:10:39 - 00:10:44 | Speaker 7:

I'm in the car right now with my little manipulator. What happened?

00:10:44 - 00:10:46 | Speaker 5:

Is she trying to get you to do no school today?

00:10:47 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 7:

Oh, not, well, when she heard you talk about it, yes. But normally it's like, you hear her, she's laughing in the background. Normally it's, Mom, I just want to snuggle in bed with you all day. hey, can we skip work and school today? And so, yeah, that's how she gets me.

00:11:02 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 9:

I love it. By the way, she's going to be snuggling for five seconds until the video game that she wants to play is there.

00:11:09 - 00:11:12 | Speaker 7:

You're exactly right. I fall back to sleep and she gets on her games.

00:11:12 - 00:11:20 | Speaker 9:

My favorite is Luke would do this and he would be home and he'd be playing games against Evan and all these other guys. All the other kids would do the same thing to their parents.

00:11:20 - 00:11:21 | Speaker 5:

All the same day. Yes.

00:11:22 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 9:

And they would all be home. It'd be like Luke, Evan, and Landon. And I'm like, do the parents not talk to each other? and figure it out that the kids are all trying to take a day off. What's up, Natalie? Hi, Natalie.

00:11:34 - 00:11:47 | Speaker 6:

Hey. Hi. So my wife and I did IVF. Yes. And there is actually, for the donors, there is a number of family units that they cannot surpass.

00:11:47 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 9:

Oh, you're going back to when I was talking about this. Okay, yeah, Mojo gives you a baby. Yes. So there's only so many kids that can come from one particular dad?

00:12:01 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 6:

So they call it a family unit. So once you've had a baby with that donor, you're considered one of their family units. And you can have as many kids in your family unit, but there's only so many family units that can be had with each donor.

00:12:14 - 00:12:16 | Speaker 9:

All right, here's a question for you, Natalie.

00:12:17 - 00:12:17 | Speaker 6:

Okay.

00:12:18 - 00:12:30 | Speaker 9:

Your choices. Mojo. Kev. Or Zach attack. What are we calling them? Zach Zach. No, Zach Zach. Mojo, Kev, or Zach?

00:12:30 - 00:12:31 | Unknown:

Come on, come on.

00:12:32 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 6:

Mojo. Yes! Are you okay, Kev? You lost.

00:12:37 - 00:12:42 | Speaker 9:

You can have my baby any time you want to, okay?

00:12:43 - 00:12:44 | Unknown:

Okay.

00:12:44 - 00:12:55 | Speaker 9:

All right, so you tell and tell the entire family, okay? Tell everybody, tell everybody that's a member of the family. By the way, go back to the question about Butch Dyke. Is it okay to say Butch Dyke or no?

00:12:56 - 00:13:00 | Speaker 6:

Sorry, my phone is no longer being recorded. Sorry, my phone is not recording.

00:13:02 - 00:13:06 | Speaker 9:

Hello, recording. Attack a one, two. Attack a one, two.

00:13:08 - 00:13:09 | Speaker 6:

That was my face.

00:13:10 - 00:13:26 | Speaker 9:

No, that's okay. I do that all the time. I push it all the time, and people think, because it's on the, for iPhone users, you can hit it with your face. I always mute my phone too with my fat cheeks and I end up doing it and people think I'm trying to secretly record that. Yeah. Well, we'll talk to you later,

00:13:26 - 00:13:42 | Speaker 8:
