00:02:52 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 2:

it was really fun it was we kept saying it was a very very blended graduation party um which i'm so proud of because we hosted the party at our house obviously you just heard mojo say but we hosted both sides of my stepson kieran's family so it was my side of the family then there was which was my mom and my dad and they're like some of their respective families right because my parents are divorced Wes's stepdad actually surprised everybody and came in from Canada then you had Wes's ex-wife her family like her mom dad her new husband kids all of the aunts and uncles you know cousins from that side like there was just a mishmash of sides of people and everybody got along that's amazing everybody got along and it was just a beautiful celebration of karen completing high school and heading off to msu and was it a like a karen did karen put the

00:03:52 - 00:03:57 | Speaker 9:

list together of all of the uh the people that he wanted there or how was the list contrived how

00:03:57 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 2:

did they put it he wasn't even really sure that he wanted a graduation party at first so when he finally decided okay yeah i do he uh just said please keep it small like he just wanted it to really be family there were a few family friends there and then he invited a few of his friends as well but it was not so it wasn't like blowout there was like maybe 45 people there that's cool

00:04:18 - 00:04:34 | Speaker 9:

so i've been to a bunch of grad parties and sometimes i go to grad parties and it's a ton of kids from the school and as a friend of the families or you know it's a friend of my son's or you know i always go wow this is like the kid party this was more the adult party this was is

00:04:34 - 00:04:54 | Speaker 8:

that what i'm saying yeah yeah okay for the most part that's cool celebration that's cool it's amazing that everybody showed up for karen like i can imagine how that made him feel like regardless of and i'm not saying y'all got well everybody got family problems in every family but regardless of whatever is taking place everybody chose him that's incredible at one point in the day wes and

00:04:54 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 2:

myself and his stepdad derrick were standing out on the front porch and derrick's been a part of Wes's life since he was

00:05:00 - 00:05:24 | Speaker 3:

really little his dad was not not much in the picture and so he knows the timeline of you know wes's family and first marriage and me and everything in between and he looked at wes and he looked around and he said is this real wow it's like the first time everybody's been together i don't know if it's the first time but i mean when you maybe when you added in everybody it was

00:05:24 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 1:

it was really cool how do you and uh uh the the kids you know mom west's ex i'll give her a shout

00:05:31 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 3:

out her name is jen how do you how do you and jen get along really well really um really really well yeah i i honestly love her um she's very easy to to be in a co-parenting relationship with i mean obviously that's more west than me but she's very easy to get along with she's cool so there's no

00:05:51 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 2:

Was it always like that, or did y'all have to get there?

00:05:53 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 3:

Her and I? Yeah. For her and I, it's pretty much always been like that. Y'all ain't never had no beef? Wes and her, that's his own story. Really? You never had no beef? They had to work to get to the relationship where they are today, and they have a great relationship today, but it was not always like that.

00:06:08 - 00:06:11 | Speaker 2:

But for you, she ain't never looked side-eyed? You was like, bitch?

00:06:12 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 3:

She did call me a bitch the first time she met me, because I'm an inch taller than her.

00:06:17 - 00:06:31 | Speaker 1:

That is true. Since you, since you've been, since you've been with Wes, uh, have, has the relationship always been, uh, better than what it was or did they, or did you mean between her and him between her and him?

00:06:31 - 00:06:45 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. Uh, yes. And she, she has vocalized that to me that she's very thankful. And that is truly Jen, if you're listening, the biggest compliment, she has thanked me for making everything easier for them.

00:06:45 - 00:07:04 | Speaker 1:

Wow. Okay. Because I was wondering, sometimes you need a third party. You need that person that helps make things better between divorce situations. And so I wondered if you were the denominator that brought those two guys together or if they worked through some of their issues before you two guys got together.

00:07:05 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 3:

That really was all of them. I think she's more so talking about current day, present day.

00:07:09 - 00:07:37 | Speaker 1:

I think that's great. Honestly, I think that's, you know, you know where you can see it the most? You can see it the most in the kids. Wes's kids seem like they're healthy, happy, and you know what I mean? Yeah. Those are the people that feel the craziness of it. And so that's why having a grad party where you said we were able to blend everybody together and everybody was able to enjoy it, and Wes's stepdad even noticing that. That's pretty cool.

00:07:37 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 3:

It is still hard, I will say, and anybody who has been married more than one time, would understand this of watching Wes go through all the bins in our garage to find pictures to put up. We didn't really do boards, but we did. Wes made a slight like different slideshows and stuff watching him go through all of these old photos. And obviously, I know we both have pasts. We both were married and, you know, our respective families, whatever it was. It still made me feel a certain way really to see yeah to see family photos and i'm sure he feels the same when you know a photo comes up in my memories and it's myself and andrew and lucen smith um but yeah it was just like an interesting feeling to see or to hear him share stories from when kieran for example started his very first day of kindergarten because we're looking at all these photos and that's just a whole chunk of his life that i was not there for yeah no i i i get get that that's

00:08:42 - 00:08:47 | Speaker 1:

uh that would be kind of uh something that you know you especially when you see a bunch of them

00:08:47 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 3:

it's weird because i feel jealous but i shouldn't feel jealous because you love them i i like that

00:08:55 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 2:

wasn't you know i think you love them and you want to be a part of those moments and since you

00:08:59 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 3:

learn it feels yeah weird yeah those uh i don't even know if jealous is the right word but i felt

00:09:04 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

something those pictures when they come up and there's probably a lot more of the young because you've only been part of uh karen and samantha's life for how long now four years four years you know in there so there's probably more of those pictures in there than there are but it's also uh whenever you see those montage photos together the best of those photos are usually the ones when they're little kids so that's cool but it's cool though that you that you guys put those all those photos in there and do that because i hate when i see friends of mine who go through divorces and then they'll have like split grad parties where the parents can't come together and do like one combined one for the kids and then they're then they do the montage photos and the photos are step and the kids and it's like they look awkward because i will tell you this Like my part, my life before my dad remarried after my mom passed away and she passed away, there was no divorce.

00:10:00 - 00:10:18 | Speaker 4:

But my life with her was a lot different. Like, we didn't have a relationship. So if my dad did something like that and only put pictures of me and her up there, I'd be like, Dad, what are you doing? You know what I mean? Like one of those things. I think it's wonderful, and I also think it's great for Karen, and I hope he got a lot of money. Did he get a lot of money?

00:10:18 - 00:10:25 | Speaker 2:

He got a lot of money. I don't know how much money he got. I saw the cards were gone, so I know he opened them, but I don't know what he got.

00:10:25 - 00:10:50 | Speaker 4:

I hope that kid has opened up a fat bank account for going up to East Lansing next year. Did you immediately, when you did it, did you immediately open a bank account or did you have the cash for those? When I was in high school and I graduated from high school, I remember going to open up my bank account. I'll never forget, man. I had all this money and checks and stuff. I think I waited for a minute. It's something about having that loaf in your hand. Oh, I wanted to make sure the check's cleared. What's up, Anna? Hi.

00:10:52 - 00:10:52 | Speaker 1:

Hi.

00:10:52 - 00:10:53 | Speaker 4:

What's going on?

00:10:53 - 00:11:52 | Speaker 1:

So I had a very similar experience for my son, my ex-husband. We have three kids together, and we divorced, oh, 12, 13 years ago. And they all, all the family live out of town. And his, so my ex-husband and his wife and their child, and then her parents and his parents all came from out of town and stayed locally. I hosted them for all the meals since they were coming from out of town, and we did a combined graduation for him. It's the first time all of us have been together ever, and it's been 10 years since I've seen his folks. I mean, we started off our divorce nice and clean, and then it got ugly, so it's been a trip. We even had the nanny, who was my children's nanny for like nine years, and her parents, and then my nanny's husband and their five kids. So we had a lot of people. A lot of people.

00:11:52 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 4:

That's nice.

00:11:53 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 1:

That came together.

00:11:54 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 4:

That's nice everybody can get along. I mean, it's really important for the kids. What's going on, Amber? Hi. Hi, Amber. What's happening?

00:12:04 - 00:13:09 | Speaker 3:

First time, long time. Hey, Amber. What's going on? So the first two years, my divorce was pretty rough. I wasn't very nice. And then he never thought very highly of his mom because of the way he treated his dad. So I told myself I would not have my kids think the same way about me. And so when the kid, my oldest graduated in 2019, I had all family together this first time. They were like, you know, they were like really young. We got divorced like six and three. and after that my parents swore that we wouldn't have another graduation like that when my son yeah graduated in 2022 and i they change your mind about i don't know maybe the year before that i think my younger sister kind of talked them into it you know so you gotta accept it it's been

00:13:09 - 00:13:22 | Speaker 4:

like you know over a decade later we all got to move on and and so so you were able to pull it together then for the for your yeah that's good well actually my daughter my oldest

00:13:22 - 00:13:37 | Speaker 3:

uh my parents do a fit i guess i forgot about that i talked to my mom's younger sister and she said she'd come no matter what because she doesn't hold grudges yeah i just held it through to do the first graduation the way it is.

00:13:37 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, well, it's nice that you guys were able to at least kind of realize that it was not comfortable to do it the one way, and then you guys just decide that you're going to get together and get it done. And, Victoria, you also are able to pull it together. There's no craziness going on there?

00:13:57 - 00:14:15 | Speaker 2:

Well, I have three step-sons, and I've been with my husband for, we've married four years, but together for 12. And the first oldest, we were able to pull it together. We did a joint party, but the other two, the mom, she didn't want that. So we ended up doing two separate ones for the oldest two. So we got to double dip.

00:14:16 - 00:14:20 | Speaker 4:

What happened at the first one that she didn't like that she wanted to do the separate ones?

00:14:21 - 00:14:42 | Speaker 2:

You know what? I'm not sure. I thought it was great. All of our families met. It was blended. I thought it was great. But the second and third one, they decided to do something different. We actually invited her parents to ours, and she didn't talk to her parents. So I think that may have rubbed her the wrong way. But it's not about her. It's about the kids, right?

00:14:42 - 00:14:49 | Speaker 4:

Yeah. There's something happened, though. I can tell that something happened. There's something big that went on that made her all of a sudden not like it. Does she not like you?

00:14:49 - 00:14:52 | Speaker 2:

Maybe on her side, but she doesn't love me.

00:14:53 - 00:14:55 | Speaker 4:

What is it that she doesn't like about you, you think?

00:14:56 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 2:

I'm not sure. I think we're totally opposite.

00:15:00 - 00:15:05 | Speaker 1:

She's like an older white Republican and I'm mixed, younger Democrat.

00:15:05 - 00:15:10 | Speaker 4:

So it's a political thing? I don't know. Maybe.

00:15:10 - 00:15:18 | Speaker 1:

Just our styles are different. We're totally different. Did I hear you right? Did you say she's an overweight Republican? No, she's a white, older white.

00:15:18 - 00:15:49 | Speaker 4:

Oh, God, I was like, dang. It's some political in there. It's a whole gumball and bull going on. It's a lot. It's a lot. But I love, I want to hear her. Give me her number. I want to call her, and I want to find out the full story of this one. I want to know exactly what's going on. That's funny. I don't have her number. I don't have her number. You don't have her number. Now, Shannon, no offense. What? Your grad party was born. I want to go to grad grad party. Roelle, what's up?

00:15:51 - 00:15:55 | Speaker 3:

Mojo, what's going on, everybody? Now the morning. What's happening?

00:15:55 - 00:15:56 | Speaker 4:

Hey, Roelle on the phone.

00:15:56 - 00:16:30 | Speaker 3:
