shannon had something happen to her yesterday when you were at walmart and you got in line and you got behind somebody that was taking a little bit of time uh so i got in line behind the sweetest

00:01:58 - 00:03:10 | Speaker 8:

woman who was almost done it i was in a regular line i wasn't in one of the self checkouts so um the cash ear was almost done checking her out and this sweet woman in front of me you could tell she was just having a day and i say that because i noticed that like here i am scrolling through Instagram, but I'm kind of like watching what's happening in front of me. Every card that she had tried from her wallet was not going through. And I don't know if it was an issue of like the card was getting declined or I heard the cash, the cashier say to her at one point, like, no, we don't have tap on these. So you can't tap. So this woman would like take out another card and try that. And it, this just like kept going on and on and on for a couple of minutes. And it's not like I was in a hurry, so I didn't care. But my heart, I felt so freaking bad for her as this is happening. So I'm thinking to myself, all right, I'm just going to take a few steps forward and swipe my own card and pay her bill for her. So I take a step over to see what her total was on the screen. And it was $172.36.

00:03:11 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 7:

That's a lot of money.

00:03:13 - 00:03:29 | Speaker 8:

And I was like, hold on. oh god so i'm thinking okay i feel really bad like my heart is going out to her and i'm contemplating this in my head i'm like shannon it is holy week like you should be doing something

00:03:29 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 7:

nice but that's the 180 dollars is a lot of money let me tell you oh my god if i did something nice for her like that i need somebody to do something nice for me like fill up my gas tank when i run out of gas because i'm not going to be able to afford it i don't even have close to that

00:03:43 - 00:04:00 | Speaker 8:

you know dollar amount in my own car so i'm going back and forth going back and forth and as i'm contemplating whether or not i should just do it in my head i hear her say out loud this is the 15th card is the last one that i have in my wallet thank you jesus it worked oh thank god it went

00:04:00 - 00:04:05 | Speaker 4:

through otherwise would you have felt bad if you well i got home last night and i'm telling west

00:04:05 - 00:04:32 | Speaker 8:

this story and i'm like describing what happened he made me feel even worse than i already felt because he's like, I can remember when, you know, we would go grocery shopping with my mom and I was always the one that she would say, Wes, honey, we don't have enough. Like you have to go put this back. And he's like, what if that were, Oh my God. Did you feel bad? I felt so bad. And I'm like, but her card worked. The last card worked, you know, but what would you have done

00:04:32 - 00:05:08 | Speaker 4:

in that situation? That's a lot of money. So I have had that situation happen to me and had it happen at a target same situation the woman's card wasn't working and she had no other cards so this was multiple stuff stuff stuff fell out of her wallet she said and she kind of like had this whole story oh my god i can't believe it and i looked at her and she seemed like a very nice lady and she was going through the whole thing and whatever and i did it and it was You a decent amount of money. It was close to six figures, not over six figures. Six figures? Or three figures, I guess. Not six figures.

00:05:09 - 00:05:11 | Speaker 3:

Close to $100. Six figures.

00:05:12 - 00:05:19 | Speaker 4:

I was like, Jesus, you are very generous. I have a credit card limit of over $600,000 on my credit card. Do you?

00:05:19 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 2:

I would love to go to Target with you.

00:05:21 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 4:

I got my Amex black card there, so I pulled it out. No. Let me tell you my bad thoughts on this one. so i did i did it she was very sweet the lady behind the the target lady was so nice the target lady she got a bunch of uh i guess free gift cards gave me the gift cards from her sale because i paid for it and then used them towards my sale which was cool that was really nice because she had some target gift cards she said how great everything was it was awesome i felt really good i felt like i did a good deed nice lady had now you're making me feel bad i walked out my husband No, no, no, wait. I walked out into the parking lot. I'm pushing my cart, and I'm thinking to myself, I'm going to heaven. I don't care what any listener says about me. And I'm pushing the cart to the thing, and all of a sudden this car drives by, waves, and says thank you, and the woman's in a frickin' Mercedes-Benz. And I am driving my Tahoe, my Chevy Tahoe, which is a nice car, but it ain't a Mercedes-Benz.

00:06:20 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 3:

Still a nice thing.

00:06:21 - 00:06:53 | Speaker 4:

And I'm thinking to myself, I am a sap. I am at whatever, but I, I have the means I was able to do it, but I will say this to Wes. I think Wes experiencing that and as kids and stuff like that, you know, we, we, we were blessed. My dad, you know, did well, but I went off on my own when I was young and I didn't have much and I lived paycheck to paycheck. Chelsea and I, when we first started off, same situation, we lived paycheck to paycheck. I will tell you, I agree with Wes on this, but I also say that you at least made the attempt and thank God her card worked.

00:06:53 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 3:

I didn't, I wouldn't even give myself that much. I didn't make an attempt. I thought in my head, oh, you need to pay her bill. And then when I saw the total, I was like, but do I?

00:07:04 - 00:07:04 | Speaker 4:

No, I think that's nice.

00:07:05 - 00:07:11 | Speaker 2:

That's a lot of money. By the way. I think it's one thing if it's like $40. But now I feel really easy to go. Yeah.

00:07:11 - 00:07:14 | Speaker 3:

Let me help you out. $200 is a lot of money.

00:07:14 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 4:

It is a lot of money.

00:07:15 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 3:

40 bucks. I would have no question, like really quickly been like, oh, I've got you. Right.

00:07:19 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 4:

Hey, Ashley, what's up?

00:07:21 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 1:

Good morning. Good morning. Um, so right before Christmas, I'm a teacher. So my son and I went to do little like gift bags for all my students. So we're at target and the woman in front of us, she had a little girl with her and little girls eating an apple. She had a couple of boxes of diapers, some wipes, a bunch of stuff. Same kind of thing as Shannon was saying, her card was kept declining, kept declining, kept declining. So my son is eight and he said, mom, let's get it. And how do you say no to your child? We're trying to do something amazing. So we put our cart, we put our cart away and we bought her stuff and it was just about $120.

00:07:53 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 4:

wow good for you by the way and that's a lot of money yeah you know what though that's that's very sweet and i by the way don't ever bring my kids with me because they always want me to

00:08:02 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 3:

to be feeding the homeless but also props to you for demonstrating that lesson for your kids

00:08:09 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 4:

that was amazing that was it yeah it's one thing to tell kids to do that but to actually do it is another did you tell yeah did you did you tell your son now he's not going to eat this

00:08:18 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 1:

weekend because oh my god no he just his his concept was well we'll just have dad come back and buy all of our cart with his credit card i'm like oh yeah you don't realize it's the same thing

00:08:29 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 4:

so yeah that's awesome uh this by the way it might be the greatest text of them all 517 is she has 15 credit cards give that lady 180 and tell her this is an only one-time deal and then teach her fiscal responsibility yeah but you know i'm not exaggerating that by the

00:08:48 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 3:

she said it herself it's the 15th card like she made a big deal about that but were they cash were

00:08:53 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 2:

they like uh i was gonna say you never know if they're visa cards and they just didn't have enough balance to cover it or i don't know i'm terrified and embarrassed in that situation i try to make a joke out of it and make it seem ridiculous too you know like i i have had an issue specifically at walmart they don't have tap to pay so you can't use apple paper drives me nutty it does for me as well and i have i have one card and my card is crap it never works i use apple pay for everything because my card the chip never reads or it never scans and it doesn't mean that there's not money in there the card just never works and to have that happen at like a place like walmart one time my brother had to buy my stuff and i was like i'll then mow you the money

00:09:31 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 4:

like my card is not working what's up ross how you doing hey how's it going good ross you you did a good deed for a bunch of nuns i heard is that right yeah so one time when i was in college

00:09:45 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

i was driving through a tim horn drive-thru i see a group of nuns behind me and they're just like scrambling to find anything out of their wallet and i was like you know what let me just buy their order um basically basically i

00:09:59 - 00:10:29 | Unknown:

Thank you.

00:10:00 - 00:10:04 | Speaker 6:

get to the front of the line um i'm like hey let me pay for the people behind me it was 150

00:10:04 - 00:10:10 | Speaker 7:

how many nuns were in that car oh my god what they were they buying it's important

00:10:10 - 00:10:15 | Speaker 9:

there are three nuns they bought the entire convent yeah they were bringing back some

00:10:15 - 00:10:30 | Speaker 6:

some jugs of coffee i actually knew one of them because they were my uh nun when i was doing communion so i felt even worse so i was like you know what let me pay it so long story short don't get in front of a group of nuns.

00:10:43 - 00:10:48 | Speaker 9:

Oh my God, that is so funny. Hold on, Grace says that she was a scammer, though. Grace, why do you say she's a scammer?

00:10:50 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 1:

So, because you know how, like, when people are scammers, they have, like, fake cars of, other people's cards and then just swipe it to see which one goes through.

00:10:59 - 00:11:01 | Speaker 9:

That's interesting. I never thought about that.

00:11:02 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 1:

Or maybe she's a struggling mom. I don't know. We see the worst in people. We need to see better in them. Who is this person? I've always been this person. I've literally always been this person.

00:11:17 - 00:11:19 | Speaker 9:

Is it Easter? Look what's come out of her.

00:11:19 - 00:11:22 | Speaker 1:

I've literally... The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit.

00:11:24 - 00:11:31 | Speaker 9:

Nothing's changed. Oh, man. Always been like this. Wow, Megan. I like this, Megan. No. Israel.

00:11:31 - 00:11:33 | Speaker 6:

Oh, wait. Hold on. I got to do something bad.

00:11:33 - 00:11:34 | Speaker 9:

What's up, Israel?

00:11:36 - 00:11:47 | Speaker 8:

How's it going? Good. What's going on? No, I don't. It depends on the store. You can't just pay for someone. If it's at Target, like, what happened to you? No, you can go shop at somewhere cheaper for sure.

00:11:47 - 00:11:47 | Speaker 7:

No.

00:11:48 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 9:

So if the woman doesn't have a card at a Target, like what happened to me, you're saying only rich people shop at Target?

00:11:55 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 8:

Not only rich people, but, I mean, you got the means to shop at Target. Go to all the areas. It's super great to go to.

00:12:01 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 5:

You're talking for privilege. Not everybody has cars, gas money, or access.

00:12:06 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 9:

Listen, I will say this to you. I look at the person, and if the person honestly looks like they are genuinely stressed, I will say, you know what? I want to take some stress out of their lives. And I believe that when you're giving to somebody, you're not giving to get something back to yourself, but you are getting something back, and that is the peace of mind that you did something nice. And I think, honestly, your attempt should give you something. The fact that you would at least have that. Because nine out of ten people would have said, damn it, I'm being late. Hurry up. Move her out of the way. That would have been their initial thing.

00:12:40 - 00:12:42 | Speaker 1:

Absolutely right. He's so right it's not even funny.

00:12:43 - 00:12:48 | Speaker 9:

Again, what happened to Megan? She's actually with me. I gotta get out of here. I'm not used to this. I know.

00:12:48 - 00:12:51 | Speaker 7:

Shut up, both of you. I feel unsafe and uncomfortable.

00:12:51 - 00:12:57 | Speaker 1:

Shut up, both of you. You act like I walk around like, how can I slash people's tires today and ruin the day?

00:12:58 - 00:13:02 | Speaker 9:
