The World Cup is underway, and it's been incredible. Okay, it's Mojo in the morning. I got a bunch of topics that I want to get to. I want to talk about this. Shannon, the embarrassing mom.

Is anybody surprised?

It's funny because I know you had done this before. You've gone to your kids' events. First off, the last time that I remember you talking about going to one of the swim meets, didn't you chair for the wrong kid?

I did. It was Smith. But any swim parent knows they all look the same. With those caps? With the caps, the goggles, the little swim trunks or the speed suits, whatever. They all look the same.

These kids, by the way, are too small to be swimming in a pool at a college. They were at, what, Eastern Michigan or something?

So this was Lucy over the weekend was in the Michigan Swimming Championships at Eastern. and thankfully I now have figured out how to make sure that my kid is my kid well once you get to a certain point they put their last name up on the board and what lane they're in and Lucy also writes everything on her arm so she writes the event number her heat number and then her lane and then I take a picture of her arm so I know exactly where she is and what time like where she's gonna be swimming what lane she's in and she wears bright pink goggles which also helps me tell her apart from everybody else do you do that purposely or did she did she like the bright pink no she just has bright pink goggles but honestly it helps me so much

it reminds me that that's her what this reminds me of is it reminds me of when my mother and father-in-law would come visit and they would go to the games for the you know their grandkids and my mother-in-law would be on the wrong field we'd play like in one of those complexes that had like 10 diamonds and we would be on the phone trying to navigate her back from the concession stand and she would be sitting there the entire time in some lady else's chair chairing for a kid

that wasn't their kid I totally get this but this weekend was cool and I even texted you guys it was more than cool it was incredible because um first off I can't swim and that is not me exaggerating I can doggy paddle a little bit so to watch both of my kids achieve something that I can't even do is incredible in itself. But for the past year, Lucy has really dedicated herself and she had this goal of getting a certain time and getting what's called a zones cut. So making it past even what she did this weekend. And even this weekend was farther than she's ever gotten in her swimming career, if you want to call it that. So sitting in the stands and Wes was sitting with me, this was Saturday, and I knew that this could potentially happen in this particular backstroke event and she did it and to me i literally burst into tears when she did it because it was just such a beautiful thing to see her accomplish her goal and i could just tell when

she got out of the pool i was shaking you guys and i'm like it was the snotty disgusting cry um i was just so dang proud of her but there i am she runs up into the bleachers when she was done and i'm wiping i'm like i'm just like a damn mess and she's hugging me and patting my back and consoling me and i'm like wait i'm supposed to be congratulating you here but it was like a get a grit mom moment but i was so proud of her um god you're proud look at the coolest thing ever

that's that is i always love by the that perspective from the kid then because if we said to lucy and she was sitting here right now and i don't know you know uh lucy uh if you are listening you'll have to tell us you better not be listening the kids though have a different

they're like oh right like they don't understand but i cry at everything i'm like you i am such an overly emotional person if there's something at school i she'll look at me and be like yeah she'll mouth that because she knows i'm a crier you don't want to the you know what i would love

to do i'd love to take this in a direction because i know we got kids listening or people who are kids or were kids at one point i think you were a kid at one child at one point i would love to know your embarrassing thing that your thing that your parents embarrassed you the most with we can recall that but also the parent that wants to call out the proud parent moment i love proud parent moments i to me i just like there is nothing better and my kids were never halloween no it's like uh swim i was i was doing it for swim i was going for swim because she's a swimmer our kids never did swim they were never part of that whole thing and my kids are like you

shannon i don't know even know if they know how to swim like i can't even try to water yeah that's

bad but i've tried i've gone to our friends kids like swim stuff that they'll have and it is insane swim parents are party parents too like they drink and stuff like especially the ones that do them at like you know golf courses and stuff like that like they get they get a little crazy and actually half the time i'm like are the kids driving these parents home afterwards like what's going on by

the way if i met you over the weekend at eastern because there were so many listeners there yeah It was awesome to meet a ton of those moves. I've got a proud prayer moment.

Okay, go ahead. So Josiah's in an after-school art program at his school. Josiah loves to draw. That's like what he wants to do in his life. So Josiah got chosen out of his art program to participate in like, I don't know, something where he had to draw on cars, like a car wrap. He had to design it. And him and all of his friends who were selected got a chance to go to the Henry Ford Museum where the cars are on display and got to see his car actually wrapped in the design. Wow. That's so cool.

Can I talk, Kevin, about my Josiah thing from the weekend or no?

Yeah, for sure.

So Josiah has been nominated to be part of this University of Michigan Wolverine.

I gave him a – Kev asked me if I would do a recommendation because it's like teachers and then people in the community give recommendations. I gave them a recommendation. They denied my recommendation. What?

Why?

First off, I thought I filled everything out and wrote a letter and all this stuff, but they basically wrote Kevin this letter. Hold on. I'm going to read it back to you guys.

How does a recommendation get denied?

I guess I am not a very good recommender. So they wrote Kevin.

Did you spell check it first? They probably couldn't even read it.

It said, upon reviewing the submission from Mojo, I would like to inform you as a courtesy that the recommendation does not meet our standards for recommendation requirements.

Stop it.

If you would like to give the scholar the best opportunity, it basically says the recommendation cannot be in this form, maybe select somebody else. So this is from that Pathways program, which by the way, the Wolverine Pathways, first I'm on the freaking board of the U of M's hospital, the Michigan Medicine Cardiac. Not good enough. Why is that not good? Like, I know I'm a dumb radio guy, and I know that I could never get in the University of Michigan, but let's get somebody that could be in an opportunity there. So I feel horrible. I know. I feel bad. Kenyatta, are you there, Kenyatta?

Good morning. Shannon, you heard her crying at Lucy's swim meet after Lucy did the triple Lindy. Did you ever see the movie Back to School with Rodney Dangerville? No. He won the competition doing the triple Lindy. What's going on, Kenyatta? You cried at one of your daughter's events?

Shannon, I get it. I cried at gymnastics, dance. I cried at play. Recently, she passed her driver. her driver's test, so she has a license. I cried at that. Oh, that's me. She got me crying. She got me successful, and she qualified for the state for her solo of Kabul, so she's going to report us judges in the state next week. Wow. We can't help it.

It's a mom thing. That's a total mom thing. Kenyatta's, by the way, working on the line, making our Fords. We love our Fords. Thank you, Kenyatta. We love you. Love you. Take care of yourself. or embarrassing moment both both so i am like shannon i don't know how to swim i don't know how to tread i would be the first one that drowned if i fell out of a boat but my all four of my children know how to swim and god it is so exciting to know that they can swim um when we went on vacation one time all one of my children she was only like two or three she was like jumping in out of pools and it was like i was such a proud moment when she was like jumping in out of pools and all the parents are looking at me like i'm not watching my child so that was that was the best knowing that they do know how to swim and their swim meets i am also a crier i'm a big crier and my most embarrassing moment is one time when my oldest daughter was a soccer player and she was out on the field and it's hard to see on a on the field that i was cheering for my out on probably the loudest parent that was cheering for her and then one of my good friends don was like um joyce marie that's not your daughter that's not cute oh my god i don't can't even say with the goggles and the it's so it's so hard that is so funny and

i even said to lucy i was like lose i was cheering so loud and she goes mom i can't hear you i'm

underwater oh yeah i love the parents that don't even know their kids own numbers too What's going on, Stephanie? How you doing?

So my son was swimming in his high school conference championship this weekend, and he was coming from behind, and he kept edging up, edging up, edging up, and wound up coming. in second place and making a state cut my husband was going so wild that this stranger took this video of my husband going crazy and then afterwards was like here I took this for you just so you could have your reaction of how you look

hold on hold on I'm gonna watch it real quick I'm gonna watch this Okay. All right. Look at him.

Yeah! Look at him.

He just, he got crazy. Oh, that's awesome.

And then he, like, started getting, like, emotional, and it was just, like, I keep watching the video all weekend because I'd laugh at it, but then I'm proud of it. It was just a really nice thing for this young guy to do. Shout out. Like, watch my husband and take it. All right.

uh brady and he's a sophomore at gross point north all right go northers uh or whatever their

uh that's awesome what a cool moment sarah what's up sarah hi uh good morning i would just stop calling i support mom yeah you yes my daughter was swimming uh 10 and under the championship At the Eastern University, I saw Shannon screaming and crying. Yes, everybody saw me crying. Yes, definitely. It was just a long weekend, Saturday and Sunday.

Oh, we lost you. Are you there? Oh, we lost her. Her phone went under a bridge or something.

Are you calling up as a proud moment as a parent or a child moment?

A proud moment. Last summer, my 11-year-old, now 12-year-old, he plays travel baseball. He hit a home run. They were getting their butts kicked, and it really didn't change the outcome of the game. But when his whole dugout spilled out, I had to tuck my head in my chest. And I'm about 300 pounds, 6'2". And I was wearing a bright, bright purple print shirt. I'll never forget it. And I'm like, oh, these people probably think I'm crazy.

That's cool, man. You know what, though? There's nothing better than that. There's nothing cooler. I would much rather see my kids have the accomplishments than me ever have an accomplishment. There's just something about it. Thanks, Josh. I appreciate you so much.
