All right, it's Mojo in the morning show. So Shannon had her daughter Lucy say something to her that I think is so funny because I wonder if most kids already know this and they've never said it to their parent. But what did Lucy say to you?

00:01:33 - 00:02:08 | Speaker 3:

So this is not my week to have the kids. This is their dad's week to have the kids, but he needed some help yesterday with scheduling. So I took both Lucy and Smith to the dentist yesterday afternoon. And so afterward, they asked if we could go to some store that was near the dentist's office because they have jelly cats. Do you guys know what jelly cats are? No. Do you know what they are, Bianca? Yes, well, all my friends are obsessed with them. Okay, yeah, they're stuffed animals. They're just like a super popular stuffed animal brand right now. They're really, really soft, and they have all these different ones, and they're like the Beanie Babies of 2025.

00:02:08 - 00:02:10 | Speaker 5:

Is that the thing that everybody's lining up in the mall for that's from, like, Korea or something?

00:02:10 - 00:03:20 | Speaker 3:

No, that's LaBooBoo, which is so stupid. But jelly cats are actually kind of cute, but they're kind of expensive. Anyway, so the kids wanted to go to this store to look at the jelly cats, and I said, no, we're not. yeah we're not we don't need any more jelly cats we have a lot of jelly cats like there's no reason and um and lucy was like what if we both don't have cavities can we go afterwards and i'm thinking sure because i know they're both gonna have cavities well they both don't have cavities of course so um i was not anticipating going after the dentist appointment but they're both looking at me with puppy dog eyes and so of course i buy them both a freaking jelly cat stuffed animal um we get back in the car and i'm like how in the heck did that just happen where i said no and all of a sudden they both have they they both end up with one and i looked at lucia i'm like i'm a sucker aren't i and she goes you are a total sucker and everybody knows that you're the sucker parent like she just told me right to my face you're the pushover you are Yeah, I'm a sucker. You're the pushover parent. I am a million percent the pushover parent.

00:03:20 - 00:03:21 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, this is good.

00:03:21 - 00:03:25 | Speaker 3:

Between their dad and I, a hundred percent, it's me.

00:03:25 - 00:03:33 | Speaker 5:

This, by the way, has been already awarded to me in my relationship with my wife. Early in the relationship, I was always the pushover parent. Now, she's the pushover parent.

00:03:33 - 00:03:39 | Speaker 3:

Like, you say no to something, and then one hour later, that no has become a yes.

00:03:39 - 00:04:16 | Speaker 5:

All right, I want to know from listeners. I want to know 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. who knows who their pushover parent was or are you the pushover parent i want you to call us up it used to be in our house shannon and i know um their dad is definitely much more strict than than you are right yeah which is good because thank god otherwise your kids would probably be like right now who knows they'd be uh doing crazy crap thank god you andrew we love you buddy But no, but you, you have to have the one parent.

00:04:16 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 3:

It is so hard for me to say no.

00:04:18 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 5:

Yes, you have to, because, and it's funny, because usually the mom is never the pushover parent. It's usually the dad that's the pushover parent, because they, you know, are more the fun dad.

00:04:26 - 00:04:49 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, I think it's hard in divorce situations, too, where you, you kind of want to be the favorite, like, that shouldn't be the case, right? Like, you want to do what's best for your kids, but deep down inside, everybody wants to be the favorite parent. So when I've got Smith looking at me and he's like, but mom, I love you so much and you're the best mom in the world and I just want to spend more time with you. That's why I want to go to the store. I'm like, I know he's lying. I know what's happening here.

00:04:49 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 5:

I have to tell you that I think that you see this probably in all families, but I bet you in divorced families this comes up even more.

00:05:00 - 00:05:05 | Speaker 6:

though right because you get probably you get the the the you know because you want to be you don't

00:05:05 - 00:05:16 | Speaker 5:

have 52 weeks out of the year to make mistakes and come back you got half the time if you got a good situation that was if you don't have a good situation you're not even getting half the

00:05:16 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 6:

time well and i think also in a lot of cases you don't want the kids to feel like when they come to your house that your house is going to be the not fun house you know what i mean i just i just had

00:05:28 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 5:

the situation with josiah where i was i told his ass to go to sleep and telling somebody to go to telling your child to go to sleep at 3 a.m isn't a bad thing go to sleep at three i'm giving you the world right now yes but if i wake up and it's five in the morning and your ass still up put the ipad down give it to me give me all the technology your ass is done yeah and then by like you know 6 p.m. you can have your ipad i know why are we like that i remember that that it came up

00:06:04 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 6:

before that jasmine is definitely the more strict parent right she's she's on she's on you know point making sure she's she's a great mom what's up there eric what's going on good morning guys how are you good morning hey what's happening who's the pushover parent me a thousand percent

00:06:22 - 00:06:45 | Speaker 4:

I am so bad. Anna wants to kick my butt every day. She will literally be like, no, you cannot play more Roblox. Your screen time has been reached. I'll be outside in the backyard in the garage doing something. She'll come out there like, hey, Dad, Mom said no. You think I can hang out in the corner and play? I'm like, yeah, I got you, girl. Let me pass in that passcode real quick. Don't show Mom. You give her the screen time passcode.

00:06:45 - 00:07:04 | Speaker 6:

You know what's funny? When I was growing up in my house, and nowadays everybody seems like they're at McDonald's all day. my dad was because my dad would take us to mcdonald's and we never went to mcdonald's with my mom yeah that was that was the thing and the other one too is my dad for some reason always would go to the grocery store and buy breyer's ice cream i forget for some reason i always remember

00:07:04 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 5:

and we would have mint chocolate chip in the black box and he would it would be like 20 different

00:07:10 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 6:

flavors though that he would get and we would come home and we're like we're having an ice cream night and we're like mom's not home you know it's one of those things yep what's up Samantha, how are you doing?

00:07:20 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 1:

Good. So I am 110% the pushover parent. I have a 17-year age gap in my kids, and my oldest now gets whatever he wants because I don't want him to feel left out or neglected. Oh, yeah.

00:07:35 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 6:

I thought it would be the opposite. I thought that the youngest, because you already went through it with the oldest.

00:07:43 - 00:08:06 | Speaker 1:

No, the youngest pushover parent is definitely my husband, but with my oldest i think because it's just been him and i for you know what i mean well the three of us for 18 years he already knew i was a pushover but i just could you imagine a 17 year difference in age difference with the kids wow jerry what's up what's up mojo how y'all doing good what's going

00:08:06 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 3:

on oh man my mother was the pushover like i would get in trouble and tell me i can't go outside and ride my bike i bring my bike in and tell her like an hour later to ask her mom can i go outside just go ahead and get out my face boy but my pops he had me when i was um like 12 years old he had me on punishment for the whole summer oh no cursors oh my i did not go outside the whole summer i had a notebook that i had to write their alphabet and cursor phone had to finish the whole notebook

00:08:36 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 6:

wait a second question for you when dad would be at work would mom let you get away with stuff then

00:08:42 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 3:

no they weren't together at that point okay and when my pops wasn't at home he would um he would and i was at home by myself he would pop up on me unexpectedly just to see what i was doing wow that's a there was no getting around him for real what what tell me about strict dad

00:08:58 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 6:

uh did strict dad turn into strict grandpa too no he is the coolest grandpa ever

00:09:05 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 3:

Isn't that funny? My daughter, my niece, and my nephew get whatever they want from this man. He doesn't have a mean one on his body anymore.

00:09:13 - 00:09:23 | Speaker 6:

It's crazy. I know. It's like, where the hell did that come from, Dad? Why did you not do that to me? You should actually just start writing in cursive for him nonstop now. It's useless now.

00:09:23 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 3:

Cursive is useless.

00:09:24 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 6:

I know it is.

00:09:25 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 2:
