This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:01:36 - 00:02:21 | Speaker 1:

I would say Bishop State's like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, people in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be the thing you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four-year.

All right, it is Mojo in the Morning, phone number 844-MOJO-LIVE, text 95500. Shannon just made it back in time for today's show after spending a wonderful weekend with Lucy. You guys went on a girls' trip, but this girls' trip didn't consist of you guys just going around shopping and stuff.

00:02:47 - 00:02:47 | Speaker 7:

Well, we did.

00:02:48 - 00:02:49 | Speaker 6:

You guys did some self-care too?

00:02:49 - 00:03:17 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, I mean, we did all the New York City things. This is our fifth or sixth year doing this trip together. So we see the tree, we look at the windows, we do shopping, we go through Central Park. But one of the other traditions that I started for us is we go get foot massages. Hell yeah. After all the walking around, feet start to hurt. And in New York City, you guys, the place that I go to, it's $29 for a one hour foot massage. Really? Wow. So cheap.

00:03:17 - 00:03:18 | Speaker 6:

Is this place a nice place?

00:03:19 - 00:03:20 | Speaker 7:

Um, that could be argued.

00:03:22 - 00:03:26 | Speaker 6:

Wait, you bring your daughter into one of those seedy massage places?

00:03:26 - 00:04:05 | Speaker 7:

I have been going to this place for well over a decade. Okay. It's like the same people that are there all the time that own it. And we love it. Lucy looks forward to this. So Saturday morning we went and got our hour long foot massage. Wow. Had a great time. It's very relaxing. And spent the day, you know, walking around the city. and then we went to dinner that night and at dinner she said mama i kind of want to go back because i saw on the wall that they have a special for a 30 minute back massage 30 minute foot massage for the same price we were right around the corner from this place is this like a tie

00:04:05 - 00:04:12 | Speaker 6:

massage or what is this uh it's not advertised as they are is it like it's not what's the clientele

00:04:12 - 00:04:23 | Speaker 7:

look like is it like the clientele looks like all of us it does yes don't look at me i'm not the clientele looks like all of us she kind of looked right at me but it is very it's just it's very

00:04:23 - 00:04:31 | Speaker 6:

affordable it's very affordable okay by the way this is like all the places right there in soho

00:04:31 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 7:

like there's a ton of them but this is the one that i have gone to forever and ever so we go back and i say to the girl at the front because it's like later in the evening and i'm like okay you know we we would like to do the the 30 30 special but i don't want to be in a different room than my daughter i want us to be in the same room and so there was like there's like a couple's massage room so she's like okay i'm gonna put you guys in there two female masseuses right i said yes absolutely two female masseuses well lucy's only ever had a foot massage

00:05:00 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 3:

10 and a half years old. And so I had to explain to her, okay, you know, if, if, you know, when you're older, you go to get a massage. Normally mom usually just wears underwear, but we're going to keep our clothes on here because this, this isn't like a private room. It's just like an area with a carton, you know? So we kept like our jeans on and everything. And the lady's explaining to her, okay, you lay down on the table, face down, you know, they put a towel over your head as they do anywhere that you go and so as I'm getting the massage um and I can't see Lucy because I'm face down on the table right next to her with a towel over my head you guys this lady who is doing my massage was legit on top of my back like pounding my back you know with her legs like I mean she's on the table doing this I have never in my life had this experience okay Fully closed. Me and her, obviously. But I am trying so dang hard not to laugh. And I'm thinking in my head, oh, God, I hope they're not doing this to Luz because that would be super weird, right? For her first experience. So after our 30 minutes is up, the ladies leave our little curtained area. And we get up and Lucy is dying laughing. And she goes, Mom, that was kind of weird. She was on my back and I felt her knees around my head. and i'm like holy jesus like this is she goes is that normal i'm like well no it's not

00:06:26 - 00:07:12 | Speaker 1:

but we could not stop laughing i by the way i don't know if i not i'm not judging you for for doing the i think the foot massages and stuff like that i don't know if i would want my kid getting a massage i don't know what the story is not because of what they're gonna do no i get it not because of what they're going to do to them, just the clientele could come in. I don't know New York that well, but I drive by these massage places sometimes. I would go to one of the chain places only because I would think the chain places probably are less likely to do it. But I drive by this on my way home now when I'm driving down the lodge, the Thai massage place. And for some reason, I don't know if that Thai massage place is a legit Thai massage place.

00:07:12 - 00:07:14 | Speaker 2:

I think I know which one you're talking about, too.

00:07:14 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 3:

Everybody in Toledo knows the place on airport that gets shut down like every year and they get raided. Truly, I've been going to this place for over a decade and the clientele is very, I would say, if I'm judging books by their covers, very normal. At least in our area, if the masseuse place has a fence around it with barbed wire. This is not that. Exactly.

00:07:34 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 1:

Is this a place that you, didn't you talk one time back in the day when Lucy's dead and you would go to New York or something like that? Did you guys know of that or no?

00:07:41 - 00:07:44 | Speaker 3:

Similar type of place in the same area. Yes.

00:07:44 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 1:

Okay, then I trust.

00:07:45 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:07:45 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 1:

But I, but I would not like when I go into, like I've been to New York and honestly, Chicago, I'm so afraid of some of these places sometimes that you walk by because they always look to me like there's like, I remember one time we, we went with Luke to Chicago. It was just Chelsea, I, myself and Luke. And we were going to Chicago and we were doing like a, like a mom and dad's trip, you know, shopping trip and stuff. And we walked by a place that Luke wanted to go eat. And I look and I go, oh, this kind of looks good. And I walked inside and I'm not going to lie to you. it looked like a cover for some drug operation and you're like and i was like going where are the first off where the sopranos are at you know what i mean like it looked like something one of those things like that and i'm like i don't know we're gonna come here and then i remember taking luke uh to we went to billy goat's tavern which have you ever been to billy goat's tavern no it's in chicago it's literally underneath the road like it's underneath whatever is it wacker driver whatever and it was a place that back in the day SNL used to do a skit with they did the whole cheeseburger cheeseburger thing back in the day yes and he walked inside and Luke was getting yelled at by the guy for not ordering fast he started crying as a kid I'm like oh no no this

00:08:53 - 00:09:08 | Speaker 2:

is not a good situation now Shannon yeah I've never been to a massage parlor so my frame of reference I don't know if y'all familiar but in rush hour two they walked into one and they were able to they were able to they had all the ladies lined up and then you pick It was not this.

00:09:09 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 3:

No.

00:09:09 - 00:09:10 | Speaker 2:

So how does that work?

00:09:10 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 3:

That's a brothel. Yeah, that's not normal. It's not that you get who you get. But I did request females. Yeah. You know, both females. And some places require that you have the same-sex person. And literally made her keep all of her clothes on because, you know.

00:09:29 - 00:09:37 | Speaker 1:

Is it bad that for Luke's 21st birthday, I want to take him to the chicken ranch? Are you serious? You mean the bunny ranch? The bunny ranch. Wrong animal.

00:09:37 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 3:

But I knew what you were talking about.

00:09:38 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 1:

But I think they also call it.

00:09:39 - 00:09:40 | Speaker 3:

Is that place still open?

00:09:40 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 1:

I think it is. They probably got one. What's up, Deshaun? How you doing?

00:09:45 - 00:09:52 | Speaker 2:

Hey, hey, y'all. Morning, morning. What's up, Sean? First thing first, I want to congratulate y'all on the move to the studio.

00:09:53 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

Thanks, buddy. Thank you. You need to come down with the other misfits. Misfit Deshaun. We've kind of used.

00:10:00 - 00:10:02 | Speaker 3:

used you misfity over the years? What's up?

00:10:04 - 00:10:15 | Speaker 2:

I'll check my schedule. But anyway. Look, Shannon, don't get mad when I say this. She was kind of a little skeptical about the area you was in where you took her to.

00:10:15 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 5:

No, not at all. We were in Soho. It's not a bad area.

00:10:20 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 2:

Okay, quote unquote. Well, I'll just say that I believe, my opinion, that you took her to one of those low-key happy ending spots

00:10:29 - 00:10:36 | Speaker 5:

maybe no come on well if that's the case deshaun this place i don't think would still be around

00:10:36 - 00:10:58 | Speaker 3:

after as long as it's been there right deshaun have you ever been to one of those happy ending type places before is it on the menu he's honest every guy say that when do you ask for it do you ask for it like at the end do they say hey this is the upgrade or something like how does that work

00:10:58 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 8:

Is it halfway through so they can kick you out if you say no?

00:11:00 - 00:11:07 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, that's what I would, like, I would think it was also a sting operation, and here come the cops coming out the back door. What's going on, Amanda? Hi.

00:11:08 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 8:

Good morning. First time long time. Hey, Amanda. Amanda's on the phone. Woo-hoo! We went to Mexico in February to this amazing resort, and we did a couple's massage, and And he, my fiance had a female and I had a male, which a little weird, but fine. They got on top of the table. They were on our backs.

00:11:32 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 3:

Oh, geez.

00:11:33 - 00:11:45 | Speaker 8:

They walked out of the room and we looked at each other. And I said, did she get on your back? And he goes, yeah. And I said, he got on my back. We cracked up. That was us.

00:11:45 - 00:11:48 | Speaker 5:

I never in my life.

00:11:48 - 00:11:49 | Speaker 3:

Does it feel good?

00:11:50 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 5:

Okay. so i was gonna say yeah yeah that's awesome i i would i would think it's weird if all of a sudden

00:11:57 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 3:

they started doing it and honestly i'd be afraid they're gonna break my back but ashley what's up

00:12:00 - 00:12:45 | Speaker 6:

it's mojo in the morning good morning hi this past this past summer my sister-in-law took me to get my first massage ever and she didn't know when she scheduled it that it was my first so i guess she scheduled an hour and a half and so when we were on our way there i told her it was my first time and she called and reduced it to an hour um but after we left there i referred to it as the time my sister-in-law took me to get felt up by a chick at the massage bar because you've never been touched like that before it was the weirdest experience of my life i was like oh my goodness what is going on here and i want to know what the last half hour would have been if she thought that oh my gosh my first time what would have been done during that last that's when they that's

00:12:45 - 00:12:53 | Speaker 3:

what they tell you to roll over uh cheyenne what's up hi um good morning first time long time

00:12:53 - 00:13:44 | Speaker 7:

we got a lot of them doing um so i am a licensed massage therapist i graduated over two years ago i just wanted to clarify some comments so time massage is normal um when i say time massage i don't mean someone feeling you up on the table that is not normal okay um so another thing when you go get a massage you can choose massage therapist not just male female okay say if you went to a hand in stone you could have a regular massage therapist okay you don't ever get up on the table i personally don't because i'm not trained in time massage yeah special form of massage where you are on the table using your body yes people yeah um i will say going forward Please, if you ever feel uncomfortable during massage, you know, speak up and say something.

00:13:44 - 00:13:54 | Speaker 3:

Well, it sounded like for Shannon and for Shannon's daughter, Lucy, they loved it. They loved the massage. It was a great massage. Yeah, it sounded great.

00:13:54 - 00:13:58 | Speaker 7:

I just felt like everybody was kind of hassling them a little bit. Like, oh, Shannon, was it a bad place?

00:13:58 - 00:14:08 | Speaker 3:

No, no. Well, that's because at first that's what it kind of sounded like. But it was us just joking, being idiots. Question for you. Will you just do the foot next year or will you do more than that?

00:14:08 - 00:14:13 | Speaker 4:

Heck no. You're going for it all? Yeah. You have to at this point. The 30-30 special, you guys.

00:14:14 - 00:14:30 | Speaker 3:

30-30. What if they... Dirty on the third? Wait. 30-30. Then what did they... Oh, because it's 30 minutes. I was going to say 30-30. I was trying to think 100% or something like that. I'm like, well, what? Can I pay for the remaining 40? You're trying to get felt up. I want to know what's going on.

00:14:31 - 00:14:32 | Speaker 5:

I'll give you the name of the place.

00:14:33 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 1:
