All right. It's Mojo in the morning show. And if parents are listening, we're going to be as safe as possible. But if you want to pull your kid just for a second, if you've got like little, little teeny one, this is a topic for the magic of the season. Okay. Just for one second. I'll give you a little forewarning on that one. We're going to talk about one of my favorite things in the world. Favorite now because my kids have grown out of it. The Elf on the Shelf.

You guys, so I'm, I just want to stand in solidarity with all of the other moms and dads who have elves visiting their house at this time of year. I feel you. I see you. I think I'm kind of one of the weird ones because I actually like our elves, but it's, it is a lot of work to have an elf. Rice Krispie Treat or something like that? Yeah, you have a good memory. Yeah, Rice Krispie Treat came to our house when Lucy was three years old. And then because of a little mishap one year going back and forth between mom and dad's house uh we added another elf called candy cane sprinkle something something something yeah uh and we also have elf pets now so we have two dogs and a reindeer i mean it has gotten out i can't

believe it somebody showed me the other day uh actually our our friends they have their kids have elf babies yeah how are the elves making babies should we be doing that is that is it an immaculate conception no i don't know well you know i used to have my barbies make baby you know Barbie and Ken. That's a little different.

That's why I wasn't allowed to have Ken dolls.

Because of that?

I really wasn't, so I would cut the hair off of a Barbie and make her a boy. Wow. Because my mom wouldn't let me have that. Anyway, I digress. I'm pretty darn sure that Lou is on to the Christmas secret, and the verdict is still out on Smith because he's smart and obviously has older siblings and cousins, but a few months back, he mentioned that he had found a Ziploc bag full of elves under his

dad and stepmom's seat. Somebody screwed up.

She actually came up with a good excuse for why that had happened. His stepmom did. But I think he was still like, I am not so sure about this. All summer long, I was having to answer questions about the elves and the magic and where they lived during the off season and whatever. So it was my mission and Wes's mission this year to restore the magic and keep it going for at least another year. He's only seven, okay? And so our elves have come back, and I'm going to pat myself on the back because, and you can use this, parents, we did one that he is now exclaiming and telling everybody that they have to be real because they couldn't do this if they weren't real. And we have one of those Instax cameras. Do you know what those are? They're like... Instamax? Yeah, for sure. They're like little Polaroid cameras, but the photos come out really little. You can get them at Target or Walmart or wherever. And so I went around after the kids were sleeping, and the elves took selfies with the kids, with the dogs, with Wes and I sleeping. And because we got one with Wes and I sleeping together in one photo and the elves in between us, he was like, how is that possible? if you guys were both sleeping and the elves took photos and then we scattered the photos around the house. That's magic.

Can I ask the listeners to call in with their craziest, terrifying elf story of how the elves...

elf literally almost became like a situation in your house that ruined the holidays because everybody has one. Like when I talked to, you know, friends and even back when we had an elf, we had Lily. Lily ate the elf and that was a bad one.

Honestly, I'm always worried about Bo, my puppy, who's just naughty. There is a video

that trends every year of a little kid running with the elf in his hand while his sister is screaming, let him go! Yeah, because you can't touch him. And it's so funny to me that the kid's just standing there holding it, not dropping it, and the other one's freaking out.

There's a thing online that you have to do. It's almost like a seance or something where you're supposed to do something to make the elf get its magic back. And all I'm thinking to myself is now that they're having babies and stuff, they are setting our kids up to be elf elves.

We had a boy elf join our family this year because Wes and Sam and Kieran moved in, and they have an elf, Freddy. Wait, why do they have an elf? They're in high school. They had an elf, and the elf doesn't go, just doesn't go away. Even when you're in high school, you keep that elf forever.

Are you kidding? Serious? Yes.

the other kids or tana's gonna send an elf to our house so it's been nine years oh my god okay mama that is genius that's funny okay i needed some way out that's awesome great job mom

And because I made a big deal out of it, the Monster High dolls and the Barbie dolls had to be set up for a giant wedding reception party. Oh, okay. I love that. That's great.

last year at the end of the christmas season bongo left us a note and said that because my son was turning 12 he had santa had to tell him to go find a new family and that it was last year

wait santa told your kid to find a new family or the elf to find a new family no no no santa told

bongo he had to find a new family yeah well you know he's 12 so forward to this year scary santa shows up i don't know where this toy showed up from it looks like it might be a dog toy but it's got the creepiest santa and as a joke i put it sitting on my son's dresser and when he woke up in the morning he's like ah what's that i go oh no it looks like a scary santa well then the next night he's like throw it away i said okay so i acted like i threw it away and then i kept it and i put it in a box outside of his room so when he opened up the door he saw a scary santa then And Scary Santa was around the corner peeking out of the tree watching him. And Scary Santa's been moving throughout the house. And it freaks him out. He's like, why are you watching? That's terrifying.
