Mojo in the morning show. Thanks for being here. We were talking about the weekend. So you actually said that you went out over the weekend and you were celebrating your brother-in-law's birthday. Is that right?

00:01:50 - 00:02:03 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, well, we were celebrating my brother-in-law, Ryan's birthday. Happy birthday, Ryan. And also, my family, like, we just wanted to spend some time together. And so we decided that we were going to go bowling. And you guys know my love for bowling. I love bowling.

00:02:03 - 00:02:06 | Speaker 3:

You've been obsessed with bowling. You are truly a Midwesterner.

00:02:06 - 00:02:07 | Speaker 2:

I know.

00:02:07 - 00:02:19 | Speaker 3:

Because your love for bowling. I love bowling. Did you grow up in a bowling household? Did, like, your mom and dad, like, have bowling leagues? Yes. I know you're a down-river girl. Yes. Down-river people always seem like they bowl.

00:02:19 - 00:03:13 | Speaker 2:

Love bowling. Well, so I knew that my mom and my dad did, like they were on a bowling league when they were married. My dad is actually still on a bowling league. He bowls on Thursday mornings. But we like to go. I like to take the kids to this place in Troy called Escape. They have like an arcade and laser tag and then like they have bowling and food and all of that stuff. So that's where we ended up going on Saturday. Well, so it was myself, Wes, my kids, my sister, my brother-in-law, Ryan, her two girls, and then my mom. My mom shows up to the bowling alley carrying her purse and a light blue leather, pleather, don't know, bowling bag with her own maroon-colored bowling ball straight out of 1975. Wow. I about died. My sister and I roasted her to no end that she was, like, so proud that she could dust off this bowling ball.

00:03:13 - 00:03:15 | Speaker 3:

Did you know that your mom had her own bowling ball?

00:03:16 - 00:03:49 | Speaker 2:

I think I remember seeing somebody's bowling bag like in the basement when we would play hide and seek when I was little. Okay, but I did not know she still had this thing. So we're roasting her until she kicks our butts. Wow. I had no idea. Like she was a sleeper here. That she is actually a really seriously good bowler. We were all stunned and then we shut our mouths and quit roasting her because I had like 33 points. I'm such a terrible bowler But yeah, my mom is a really good bowler

00:03:49 - 00:03:59 | Speaker 3:

It's wild when you see Like somebody Especially a parent in this case That's actually good at something And you had no idea that they were like Good at that

00:03:59 - 00:04:03 | Speaker 2:

She said she bowled her best game ever When she was eight and a half months pregnant with me

00:04:03 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 3:

It's like she's a ringer Like you didn't even realize that she's Done this before

00:04:09 - 00:04:12 | Speaker 2:

But the fact that she showed up with her own ball too I loved it

00:04:12 - 00:04:33 | Speaker 3:

Does that ever happen from time to time with, like, your parents where your parents don't tell you, like, stuff that they're really good at? And then all of a sudden, next thing you know, you find out that your parent is, like, unbelievable. Like, my dad was a great dancer. You would never know from me. Correct. My dad is Cuban. And have you ever seen me dance? I mean, it is total, you know.

00:04:33 - 00:04:35 | Speaker 2:

It looks like something's wrong and we should take you to the hospital.

00:04:35 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 3:

It does. It looks like I'm sometimes people don't make fun of me or don't laugh at how I'm dancing because they do think that if they laugh, they'll get in trouble for the fact that that maybe I have a problem. And that's why they're laughing. But my dad was amazing dancer like my dad. And if my dad, my dad, if if there was I saw him dance once with my mom and she was very slow as a slow dance, never really saw them like kind of.

00:05:00 - 00:05:24 | Speaker 1:

Like, do the whole dancing thing. And then one time we were, after my mom had passed, we went to a friend of my sister's wedding as a family. And my dad got on the dance floor with one of the bridesmaids. And I said, now I know where, you know, mom ended up, you know, why she married dad. Like, I thought, my God, this guy.

00:05:24 - 00:05:26 | Speaker 2:

And you know what they say about people who are good dancers.

00:05:26 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 1:

So you're saying my dad was good in the bedroom? Probably.

00:05:29 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 2:

That is weird.

00:05:29 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 1:

I kind of like hope he was Like honestly

00:05:34 - 00:05:38 | Speaker 4:

What is wrong with the people that I work with

00:05:38 - 00:05:43 | Speaker 1:

No it would be nice to know Like you wouldn't want to know Megan That your dad is like great in bed

00:05:43 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 4:

Wish him the best Don't want to know

00:05:45 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 1:

Shannon just found out that her mom was a good bowler

00:05:48 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 4:

Is I know Those skills are not in the same creepiness Balls are part of both stories

00:05:55 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 1:

What would you rather what would you rather would you rather have that i need some of your balls what would you rather have that your you knew that your your dad was satisfying to your mom or your mom was a good bowler mom was a good bowler all right um what's going on mojo in the morning show how you doing

00:06:15 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 3:

katie hi good morning guys good morning topic makes me laugh so hard uh i'm 48 years old and my entire life my dad told me he had all of his teeth and i'm like well wow that's great you know because like my kids have had root canals and cavities and so i always tell everybody like yeah my dad's in his 70s he's got all his teeth well recently i had to take him to the hospital for a neck x-ray and i was in the room with the technician and i looked at this x-ray and his teeth were a completely different color and i said the neck to the technician i'm like why is that she goes well that's because those are fake teeth oh no idea i said no idea i said dan you said those were all your teeth he's like well they are i paid for them oh my god by the

00:07:02 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 1:

way i'm amazed at how many people that because i had a friend of mine growing up uh katie i'm amazed at how many people didn't realize that my friend's dad wore a toupee and i was one of them John Joyce was the guy's name, the friend of mine.

00:07:19 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 6:

Right.

00:07:20 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 1:

And John Joyce's dad, this is no joke, we were staying at his house. He comes into the other room, and I said, oh, John, is your grandpa here? Because his dad took the toupee off, and he was bald. He had no hair at all. And everybody dead stopped, looked at me, and goes, it's his dad. I didn't realize that it was a toupee. Have you ever seen anybody with a toupee and not realized it was a toupee?

00:07:46 - 00:07:50 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, they're getting better, man. Well, yes. It's somebody that we all know. Do not say it out loud.

00:07:50 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 1:

No, I'm not going to say it.

00:07:51 - 00:08:00 | Speaker 2:

You know exactly who I'm talking about, though. But I didn't realize. Now I see it. But I did not realize it for years, for a very long time.

00:08:01 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 1:

I'll say this to you, that I think it's wild how parents will keep certain things from you and not tell you. And obviously it's as simple as, you know, you never maybe paid attention when you're younger, but then there's something that's so obvious as my dad's teeth or, or John Joyce's dad's, uh, toupee, toupee that he was wearing. What did you find out Megan about Scott and Mick later in life that you didn't realize? Is there anything about him that we, we should know?

00:08:29 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 5:

That he's actually like loving and compassionate and caring, that he cares about me.

00:08:36 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 4:

kind of no i don't think there was anything like too too big yet maybe you haven't found it out yet yeah that's why i think i'm a little bit nervous about that what if he's been working for the government the whole time what if he's a spy and we didn't know well that's the thing

00:08:53 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 1:

he leaves town and i ask you what does he do you say he works with plastic he's in plastics and

00:08:59 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 4:

works in factories have you ever been quality control management have you ever been to any place that he's worked absolutely well yes yes but it was a really long time ago and not everybody in the building knew him and he said that was because he traveled but maybe it was just a cover story i have asked a million times to drop him off lunch especially if i am like working up in the detroit studios with you guys i'll be like let me swing by and bring you some lunch he's like no no i'm pretty busy today you guys what if he has a double life what do you think he has another

00:09:33 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 1:

family oh my god what if your dad does have another family i bet he does and he's got happens and he's got a daughter that looks just like you he probably likes her more you think oh first i

00:09:46 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 3:

would uh what's going on lexi hi hi so my grandma when i was sick she would always make chicken noodle soup like it was gg's or you know my grandma's homey chicken noodle soup so one day after i got married i was sick i don't think Thank you.

00:10:00 - 00:10:28 | Speaker 4:

grandma i just really want your chicken noodle soup and she goes okay go to gordon food services and get it and you know or go to the basement and pull it up and put it in the um pot and i looked at her like what do you mean and she said what it's just a soup you know you get from the freezer and i was like no this is a homemade soup i'm not talking about stores she goes honey i've always got it from gordon oh no oh my gosh yeah so now she tells people she's like this is the soup that changed lexi's life like this is a whole lie now so it's a big thing for our family Oh, that's funny.

00:10:29 - 00:10:32 | Speaker 1:

That's kind of depressing, isn't it? Do you think that there's something that passed out? Although it's nice.

00:10:33 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, I don't have to make it.

00:10:35 - 00:10:35 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's true.
