Mojo in the morning. It's nice when Shannon tells a story that makes her not hate her kids.

00:02:32 - 00:02:35 | Speaker 2:

Oh my God, are you kidding me? My kids are my favorite people in the whole world.

00:02:35 - 00:02:47 | Speaker 5:

This is so nice because normally it's like in studio, she'll just go, God damn kids. She's like, seriously, it reminds me of my dad. My dad just was saying all the time, my God damn kids all that time. I never even thought that he ever wanted us.

00:02:48 - 00:02:51 | Speaker 2:

You know that that's a false story because I would never say GD, by the way.

00:02:51 - 00:02:54 | Speaker 5:

Oh, that's right. I forgot about you. You know how I feel about that one.

00:02:55 - 00:02:56 | Speaker 6:

Are you with me?

00:02:56 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 5:

What is, so I had a, tell me something good. We're going to do tell me something good right now.

00:03:01 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:03:01 - 00:03:05 | Speaker 5:

I had a good moment yesterday with Miss Lucy.

00:03:05 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 2:

Well, I was volunteering in Lucy's classroom and Lucy's in fifth grade. She's going to middle school next year. Holy crap.

00:03:12 - 00:03:13 | Speaker 5:

Wow. Oh my God.

00:03:13 - 00:03:15 | Speaker 2:

Still need to wrap my brain around that one.

00:03:15 - 00:03:16 | Speaker 5:

You're making every listener feel old.

00:03:16 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 2:

I know, right? And so I am, I'm volunteering in her, in her classroom. She was student of the week. And so I got to go in and read and talk to the kids. And when I was done, I got up and I went to leave. And one of the I think I think I could call her a parapro, like one of the aides that helps in the classroom. I don't know the appropriate term, but followed me out the door and she stopped me on my way out and she wanted to chat with me about Lucy. And there is a student in Lucy's class who has a disability. I'm not quite sure what disability he is facing. It may be autism. I'm not positive about that but lucy is always always talking about this boy and how much she loves him and so this para pro wanted me to know that lucy is so kind to him and she's always wanting to help him and give him love and attention even when the other kids are ignoring him and playing with him at recess if he's playing by himself and you guys i started to cry it made me so happy because and i always say this at my kids I always say this in general but I especially say this when I go in to talk to the teachers for my kids parent teacher conferences like they'll start to tell me about like how they're doing in math how they're doing in reading how they're doing in social studies I'm like okay great what I really care about is their heart and how they are as a person and how they treat other people that is what is so much more important to me than whether they're getting an A in, you know, history, whatever. And so I just walked, I walked back to my car and I was so proud of Lou that she, that she treats.

00:05:00 - 00:05:11 | Speaker 7:

this this other you know classmate of hers in this way um and so i just like i thought oh that's something to share and also like we all have something good going on in our lives that

00:05:11 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 4:

hopefully we can share today hope the apple doesn't fall far from the tree because that's you shannon that's uh that's you um seriously you you're you're a good person sometimes where

00:05:23 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 7:

I'm like, I'm okay. I'm like, this is way too nice years ago.

00:05:28 - 00:05:33 | Speaker 4:

Seriously, you always have time for people, so that's awesome. That's good. You know what? Lucy, that's amazing.

00:05:34 - 00:05:38 | Speaker 7:

But when it's your kids, it makes you 10 million times more proud.

00:05:38 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 4:

And you're right in the fact that, you know what? You don't need to be the valedictorian. You don't need to be the greatest athlete, but you need to be a good human being.

00:05:46 - 00:05:47 | Speaker 8:

Yep. Yeah.

00:05:48 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 4:

That's awesome. Although, I got to be honest, if they fail, let's see what happens.

00:05:52 - 00:05:57 | Speaker 8:

you know you can always work on that sometimes i feel like if you're just a bad seed it's

00:05:57 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 7:

very hard to fix i think also at this stage like this tween stage this fifth sixth seventh grade so to be like and that's what i told her to be the one that is not part of all of the other girls playing whatever or you know whatever they're doing at recess and to be the one to to take notice of someone who needs a buddy is a big deal.

00:06:21 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 4:

Let me, let me just say this to, to you. You've done a great job. You're an awesome mom. And I love that you, and she is true by the way in saying this, I think that you could take anything away from Shannon, you know, in her life, but those two kids would be the only thing left. She'd be just as happy as she is right now as, you know, as you are with what you have. So those kids bring you so much joy. They're awesome. Tell me something good Jalen, tell us something good Pick it up from there What do you got going on That's good in your life right now

hi yes um i was a stay-at-home mom when i had our first child at 2018 and now i am a student aid at their school which my mom was a founding mother and she passed away two years ago so now i'm excited to be at the school where my kids are where now her legacy reigns oh that's sweet

00:08:11 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 4:

That is so sweet. That's cool. How was it for you going into the workforce after being a stay-at-home mom? Was it easy? Was it cool?

00:08:21 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 2:

Oh, my word. It was such a big shock, and it was so funny. The first morning, my six-year-old lesson was like, Mom, it's your first time working. How does it feel?

00:08:33 - 00:08:45 | Speaker 4:

Well, we're happy for you, and it's cool because you're in the same place with your kids and doing that legacy thing that your mom did. Kayla, tell us something good. Come on. Give us something good.

00:08:45 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 6:

Oh, hello. My something good is my fiance and I should finally be moving into our house this weekend that we've been building for the last year. Oh, man. That's exciting.

00:08:56 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 4:

Nice. And where is this house and when are we invited over?

00:09:01 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 6:

It's Down River area. Come on over this weekend. We'll see. We're actually being threatened all weekend long for swimming.

00:09:09 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 7:

I might stop by.

00:09:10 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 4:

This is a good one. Courtney, tell us something good.

00:09:14 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 5:

Good morning, guys. Good morning. Good morning. I will be one year sober from alcohol on March 30th. Yes.

00:09:26 - 00:09:32 | Speaker 4:

You got to call us on March 30th so that we can celebrate you again. That's awesome. Good job, Courtney.

00:09:33 - 00:09:35 | Speaker 5:

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

00:09:35 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 4:

Hey, Courtney, what, if you don't mind me asking this and prying a little bit, But what was it that got you to get sober? Like, what was the last straw, so to speak?

00:09:45 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 5:

It just really started to affect my day-to-day. For the longest time, I kind of take this as a win, which is pathetic, but my therapist called me a functioning alcoholic. But it just kind of started to get a little bit.

00:10:00 - 00:10:36 | Speaker 4:

uh more than that um I was working at a very toxic job so that didn't help um and once I got out of there um in December of 2022 or 2023 um it really helped spark me getting sober once I left that toxic workplace and yeah I haven't felt this good in a very very long time I turn 40 next year and I can't tell you how excited I can't tell you how excited I am to turn 40 and I just feel I feel the best I've felt in probably 10 years. I feel free. I've lost 60. I've also lost 65 pounds. Oh, my God.

00:10:37 - 00:10:52 | Speaker 5:

Wow. That's amazing. Yeah. So, yeah, lots of good stuff. We love you, Courtney. Have a great day. Shannon, what's going on? Our Shannon started this thing off with that great story about Lucy. What's your story for Tell Me Something Good?

00:10:53 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 3:

Hey, guys. You are my

00:10:55 - 00:10:57 | Speaker 5:

favorite. Aw, we appreciate you.

00:10:57 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 3:

00:11:12 - 00:11:13 | Speaker 3:

I'm so happy.

00:11:14 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 5:

Do we have a job ready to go?

00:11:18 - 00:11:40 | Speaker 3:

Well, I'm a mail carrier, so I've always had a job. I was just going so that I could do something else. So I did give my postmaster my letter that I want to advance in my career. So I'm just playing the waiting game. But in the meantime, I'm still going to apply to, you know, different positions because you never know what's out there for you.

00:11:40 - 00:11:51 | Speaker 5:

That's cool. I love that. I love to hear that. Here you are. You have a career job and you decide, I want to go and finish my school. Finish that. And now let's see what life takes you to next. Okay.

00:11:51 - 00:12:28 | Speaker 3:

Yep, but I promised my dad that I would finish. So quick, quick story, guys. March 12th of 2022, we buried my dad. March 21st was my 39th, was it? No, 38th birthday. March 26th, I found that I was pregnant for the first time. March 27th or 28th is when I started my schooling, and I have finished through grieving, through pregnancy, through motherhood. So to anyone out there, and I'm about to be 41, Anyone out there, don't give up. Keep going. I don't care how old you are. Get that dang degree and enjoy your life. That's incredible.

00:12:28 - 00:12:31 | Speaker 5:

Yes. Incredible. Thank you for that.

00:12:31 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 3:

Food math hasn't been mathing lately. But at Zaxby's, we're fixing the equation. Zaxby's has 10 traditional or boneless wings for $10. Tossed in eight signature sauces or three bowl dry rubs. Ten wings for ten dollars? At Zaxby's, the math is mathing, unlike the other chicken spots. Zaxby's ten for ten. Nothing but tens across the board. Respectfully. Who's got the sauce? Limited time, offer available only at participating locations while supplies last.
