mojo on the morning show it is now time for another what did smith do moment smith is shannon's son and he's five he gives us great moments to talk about here on the radio

00:01:33 - 00:02:18 | Speaker 6:

what's the latest from smith well i took the kids out to dinner and i always make sure that they're prepared to order themselves and that they use you know their good manners and whatnot And usually when my kids order drinks, they will either order water or milk or Shirley Temples. Okay, very fancy. So it comes time for Smith to order his drink. And totally serious, he looks at the waitress and says, I'll have the haul, please. Now, the haul is the wine that Andrew, my ex-husband, orders anytime he goes out to center. So my five-year-old son ordered wine. with a totally straight look on his face.

00:02:18 - 00:02:22 | Speaker 5:

Did the waitress know what he was saying, or did you have to repeat it again?

00:02:22 - 00:02:35 | Speaker 6:

She asked him to repeat it, and he did. There was absolutely nothing wrong with what he was ordering. And then she proceeded to burst out laughing, because obviously she's not getting that to him.

00:02:35 - 00:02:40 | Speaker 3:

I'm going to have to call your son next time. I have a hard time interpreting the wine list sometimes. I don't know if I want something dry or something.

00:02:40 - 00:02:47 | Speaker 6:

Because he listens to Dad order, and Mom, I can't leave myself out of that. But, yep, he knew the name of the wine. It's funny.

00:02:47 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 5:

I remember as a little kid going out with my parents, and I could tell you exactly what my parents drank. Like, my dad was a Manhattan drinker, okay? So he drank Manhattans. And my mom was a martini with three olives drinker. And they would always order. And I remember as a little kid, I would get so excited over the fact that they were ordering drinks. Maybe because that was the only time that I felt like we were fun as a family is when my parents were drinking. But it's wild because I don't know alcohol very well. Like I have a couple of drinks that I'll drink, you know, and sometimes, you know, they're usually fruity cocktails. Does Smith, like, get excited? Like when I see people drink wine, I always want to know why is it that they give them that little first little dab of it? Like, you know, the waiter or waitress gives it to them. They swirl it around in the cup. They sniff it. They take a drink. Does anybody ever go and then drink and go, oh, this is awful. I'll send it back.

00:03:43 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 3:

I've never seen that before. I've seen that. My sister-in-law drinks wine on the regular, and she knew, like, oh, I wouldn't like this. Especially, I guess, if you're at a fancy restaurant.

00:03:52 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 5:

Even if they open up a brand-new bottle that's, like, meant for them, they would actually send it back.

00:03:56 - 00:04:01 | Speaker 6:

I mean, my girlfriend worked with wine for years and years, and she said they can go bad. Wow. Yeah. If they smell vinegary or taste vinegary.

00:04:01 - 00:04:15 | Speaker 3:

And we were, like, at a nice restaurant. We were at a Morton Steakhouse celebrating my brother's birthday. So then she knows by smelling it or a little sip if she's going to like it or not before they pour a whole $200 bottle for you or whatever. I don't know what it was. I'm not a big wine drinker.

00:04:15 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 4:

Megan, are you fancy like that? Do you ever do that? Do you ever do the sniff and the swoosh and all that stuff?

00:04:20 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 7:

No. One time I went to a restaurant and I ordered a glass of wine and they corrected me on how to pronounce it. Couldn't even tell you what it was. But I was so embarrassed. I never ordered wine in public. You just do the point. You just do the point. Thanks to, what was that show? Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, right? Yeah. You remember Titus? Yeah. He used to sing Pinot Noir, and now I'll only order a Pinot Noir because I know how to pronounce it because he sang it so many times.

00:04:45 - 00:04:54 | Speaker 5:

The Pinot Noir. By the way, my favorite was Chelsea's grandfather used to say, no good wine comes in anything other than a box. And he would actually drink-

00:04:54 - 00:04:55 | Speaker 3:

Sounds like my mom.

00:04:55 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

Box wine. And honestly, I, for some reason, would love the taste of some of that stuff.

00:05:00 - 00:05:02 | Speaker 1:

Uh, what's going on, David? What's happening?

00:05:03 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 2:

When I was a kid, my dad would drink Coors Light. I ordered Coors Light for dinner one time. They brought me apple juice. I thought apple juice was Coors Light for years.

00:05:15 - 00:05:19 | Speaker 1:

Isn't that fun to be a kid? God, just think of all those days.

00:05:19 - 00:05:19 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:05:20 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 1:

Uh, what's happening, Terry? How you doing?

00:05:23 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 6:

I'm good, thank you. When my son was in preschool, they asked him what his favorite food was. and all the kids are like chicken nuggets pizza uh grilled cheese peanut butter jelly and my son says shrimp and he's just like what and they're like swim he was trying to say shrimp you guys are fancy in that house huh i'm telling you right i was that was the uh beginning of the

00:05:46 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 1:

end that's the that's the best it's funny my favorite was in school this reminds me of this terry my favorite was we had a kid kevin latex who i love when you use full names kids would bring into school leftover pizza from the night before, mom's spaghetti, all that stuff. Kevin Latex would bring in fish. Oh, no. And he would come to school, and it was mom's mahi-mahi or something like that or some kind of a thing. In a school lunchbox? In a school lunchbox. And all I keep thinking, my son was like, Kevin, what in the heck is that? What is that all about?

00:06:23 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 6:

My son brought barbecued ribs for snack one day. for snack the teacher he insisted and i'm like no snack you know there's not a microwave it's a snack and he goes i want ribs the teacher went and got other teachers to say look at this kid he has ribs it is so great thank you pick your argument yes you do yep thank you for the call

00:06:51 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 1:

uh jen what's happening hey how you guys doing we're good what's going on

00:06:57 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 4:

Oh, I was just talking about the wine. Like, my dad is such a wine snob. When we go out to dinner, he'll, like, ask about the wines. He'll ask about the specials. Then he'll want to taste, like, three or four different wines. And then he'll complain that he likes one wine, but it's kind of stale. Is it a new bottle? Can he open a new bottle? It's like a half an hour process before we just get drinks.

00:07:19 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 1:

Do you think he's doing it just to be a pain in the ass?

00:07:23 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 4:

He's 83. I think he's just a pain in the ass.

00:07:27 - 00:07:33 | Speaker 1:

00:09:04 - 00:09:37 | Speaker 3:

hey how you guys doing this morning good what's going on i tell you you know as my kids were always taught to try everything before saying you didn't like it well they became very good eaters at a young age and i always had to let them order first because they had a habit of ordering two pounds of crab legs each stuff like that and at seven years old i spent more time cracking his crab legs than eating my meal so i was more of a free bread and water guy while they were same

00:09:37 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 1:

with me i know that's that can i tell you something that we went out for uh we were on a family vacation we went out for the uh i think it was chelsea's birthday or somebody like that and we went to a restaurant and luke we used to have to stop luke from doing this he would always order anything that said market price oh my god because he thought it was so cool

00:10:00 - 00:10:04 | Speaker 5:

to see the look on my face to say who the hell ordered this yeah if you see mp on the menu it

00:10:04 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 4:

means it's so expensive they don't want to tell you yeah and so it came to a point where chelsea

00:10:09 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 5:

would get in on the joke and i'd be like chelsea this is not funny like this is your money too

00:10:12 - 00:10:31 | Speaker 2:

yeah yeah you know what's so funny is i'm totally the opposite when i go out with my kids and west has finally just realized this about me i don't usually order anything nothing i will order a drink and that's it and he at first would ask me why do you do that are you not hungry are you not eating, it's because my kids take three bites and then I end up just eating the rest of their

00:10:31 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 5:

food. See, I order something and eat all their food.

00:10:35 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 4:
