Bill, why is my eye twitching? Does this mean I'm in perimenopause? Where's my phone?

00:00:35 - 00:00:37 | Speaker 4:

Juliana, maybe we can ask an actual human.

00:00:37 - 00:00:46 | Speaker 2:

Yes, because I have questions and I bet you do too. Like, is it normal to sleep in separate bedrooms? We do that and I still need to know why my poop's been green.

00:00:46 - 00:00:51 | Speaker 4:

We've got actual people answering these exact questions. Listen to Bill and Juliana.

Mojo in the Morning Show, phone number 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. When we were doing Am I the A-Hole yesterday on the show, something came up during it that got Megan to thinking about couples that share finances. And you said that there's a new trend now, Megan, about not sharing finances?

00:02:19 - 00:02:24 | Speaker 7:

Well, I don't know. It was a poll done of specifically the people in my life.

00:02:24 - 00:02:25 | Speaker 3:

Okay.

00:02:25 - 00:03:15 | Speaker 7:

And I didn't dig really deep into it, but I was really surprised in the conversation during the MIBA hole, we started talking about, like, if you married somebody who is not the parent or the biological parent of your child, are they financially responsible? And it got me thinking about just finances in general in relationships because I was surprised at how many people said, yes, my partner would be financially responsible for the child I have for somebody else. And I thought, I don't even know people who share finances. Now, when I say that, I don't mean they're not both contributing to the bills or the cost of their relationship or whatever. But I don't know a single person who shares a bank account with their significant other. And I'm talking to people who live together, people who are married.

00:03:15 - 00:03:16 | Speaker 9:

Oh, they're married. Yeah.

00:03:16 - 00:03:54 | Speaker 7:

Like I asked a lot of my married friends and they said, yeah, we both contribute to our bills. but my husband is not on my banking information and this kind of surprised me that so many people who were calling in yesterday and listening to the show do share them because that scares the crap out of me i specifically know one woman who is absolutely screwed by her husband financially and he got them into a lot of debt by opening up a credit card in their name without telling her and uh that to me is more scary than almost anything in a relationship it's interesting

00:03:54 - 00:04:42 | Speaker 9:

because back when i got married which was a while ago um my buddy tim who's our old boss he and his wife decided they weren't going to share finances they had separate accounts and i thought that was weird it's like to me i took that like almost like you're not even taking the person's last name how people take that yeah but it seems like nowadays there is definitely a trend probably in both cases where they're not sharing finances and you're not sharing uh possibly even names but a quick question is it they're your age right so they're like 30s so they're still young so it's not like people are getting married later and deciding later because i think when like when chelsea and i got married i didn't have a pot to pee in you know and neither did she so i think the idea of us sharing accounts was great because we had no money you know what i mean it gave us

00:04:42 - 00:04:56 | Speaker 8:

more did y'all like when y'all grew up and started getting money did y'all still share the account and then you got your own no we kept the account you had the shared account but did you know your own personal account also or you just kept you know something i don't know about chelsea she

00:04:56 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 9:

i know that she probably has some hidden cash somewhere sometimes she pulls out

00:05:00 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 5:

money i'm like where did that come from but no uh we did one we did go get separate credit cards at one point because our credit cards were always joint and we ended up taking out like she wanted uh a separate she wanted a dealt one of those delta cards and i didn't care if i i didn't want one of those so she ended up getting one of those and then i got a i have a visa card that is set up through my llc that i have for work but i will say this though to me i almost wonder if she's

00:05:29 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 3:

on a separate account what did you and Wes do so with my in my first marriage we shared everything every but to to your point we were both young and just starting out and so like we both didn't you know there wasn't like a ton that we were bringing to the table so this time around this is actually an act it's so funny you're bringing this up this is an active discussion that Wes are and I are having because as of right now everything is separate um but we we just started talking this past weekend about like we need to have a sit down conversation because there are things that I think would benefit us and to merge um just in terms of like household expenses and stuff like like right now I'll go to the grocery store he'll go to the grocery store like if it's obviously if it's a big expense we will share it um and Venmo each other or however we want to do it but I kind

00:06:19 - 00:06:24 | Speaker 5:

of feel you actually will Venmo even though you guys kind of are yeah like even on the trip that

00:06:24 - 00:06:29 | Speaker 3:

we went on over the weekend like it was it was kind of lopsided and so you know we had to do that

00:06:29 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 5:

but i do you feel like do you feel like you have to do that though i mean don't you think it makes

00:06:36 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 3:

up on another thing like me hey you pick a lot of things we are like that but some of the bigger things we we try to say like okay you get this and i'll get this to make it more even um i think that we'll end up like i said this is like an active conversation that we're having but i think we'll end up having like a checking account that we share for all the house stuff and then i told him i was like i'll never share a credit card with you because i don't want you to know what i'm

00:06:59 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 4:

buying so i not in a bad way but like i think he'd be like holy hell i will say one one of my friends they had a one account that they both direct deposited money into for their bills so they could pay it with the credit card we talked about that points yeah so they travel with the points on a credit card that they technically share but neither of them use it it's just for auto pay bills yep and all of their money is in different banks yep hey barb yeah hi good morning

00:07:25 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 1:

guys hi you don't share a bank account with your uh husband no but he shared okay so we have we pay our bills we have our bills together i'll tell you he'll come home and hand me the money and then i'll make out like the house payment and he pays the electric i pay the water we keep our money separate because he has a son and then i have three children um that are all grown so our kids are grown we've both been married before so we keep our money separate because if we have to help out our kids there's not i there's not a stipulation on oh well you can't do that and you

00:08:01 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 5:

can do that okay no we don't do that do you guys ever find that it gets lopsided with who's putting more money in um no because he makes more than i do okay so is it lopsided that he's putting more

00:08:13 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 1:

money in um towards the gas and electric opposed to the water yeah yeah i like the idea that you'll

00:08:19 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 5:

never time but i like that i like that idea that you kept it separate because you don't ever want it to be a question where he's saying hey why are you keep helping out your own kids they're your

00:08:27 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 1:

kids right right yeah so yeah there's not a problem there so he can help out his son as much as he wants and then if my kids need something then we don't have that problem and our relationship is healthy you know if i like when we pay taxes i pay the winter he pays the summer now summer's a little bit more so i'll throw in 400 more to help him with the summer taxes okay uh lauren let's

00:08:53 - 00:09:08 | Speaker 5:

go to lauren here lauren hi hi lauren lauren are you married yes how many years uh we've been married two years now and what do you guys do as far as finances are concerned um so we each have our

00:09:08 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 2:

own big account i mean we make sure that all the bills are paid and i mean most of the stuff comes out of like my account and he deposits like some of his paycheck into my account but yeah most of it i mean we just make sure that everything's paid why do you why do you guys not have a

00:09:22 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 5:

a what that was the tradition back in the day what why do you guys not have like one account

00:09:28 - 00:09:44 | Speaker 2:

um honestly it might just be millennial laziness to be honest okay um because i have not even changed my name on my bank account to my married name and i need to do that but yeah i have not

00:09:44 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 5:

i wonder uh sometimes you know we live in a venmo world right where our cash app or whatever i wonder i wonder if those apps make it more convenient where in the past it literally was you had to you had to do it Thank you.

00:10:00 - 00:10:04 | Speaker 4:

I mean, nowadays, it's easy just to sit there and tap and go. What's up, TC?

00:10:05 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 2:

Good morning. How are you doing?

00:10:08 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 4:

We're good. What's happening?

00:10:10 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 2:

Oh, you know, taking the kids to school, getting a cup of coffee.

00:10:13 - 00:10:18 | Speaker 4:

I like that. And what account are we pulling that out of? Are we pulling that out of?

00:10:18 - 00:10:21 | Speaker 2:

It's out of my account because I'm non-divorced.

00:10:21 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 4:

Oh, really?

00:10:23 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 2:

Yes. And when I was married, it was all in one account. and then towards the end, we separated, and I didn't like that part. But I would never do that again as far as finances. I would always have my stuff to get announced.

00:10:40 - 00:10:49 | Speaker 4:

So you would never have one account? No. Is it because he did you dirty as far as finances were concerned?

00:10:50 - 00:11:37 | Speaker 2:

I'm not going to say he did me dirty. At the end, he basically was like, well, you have to take care of everything. yourself now when for years he was doing the providing okay so i won't i won't ever do that and i'm teaching my two of my girls especially my girls that always have your own before you ever if you want to emerge that's fine but always have your own because do you know that when you file taxes as a married person you go the primary is first and they have to find you like i didn't even have an identity for almost 18 years interesting yeah well and there's a lot of times

00:11:37 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 4:

we've talked about this on our show the amount of married uh women who had secret money stashed away because they never wanted to feel like they were trapped by their spouse who was the primary like you said and so i guess that makes a lot of sense you know it does i should have had a secret stand well there's still time yeah let's rob him where's he at i'll go he's probably on his way to dte i'll get him i'll get him today james what's going on good morning how are you guys doing good we're talking about couples and do they share finances and we got a lot of people

00:12:14 - 00:12:29 | Speaker 5:

that don't share finances so in order for me to get my green card i had to get a joint bank account with my wife to complete the process and we haven't changed it it's still joint okay so you

00:12:29 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 4:

had to have the same are you going to get a separate one now that you have the green card

00:12:33 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 5:

it's fine i pay all the bills she pays all the bills with the one account

00:12:39 - 00:12:46 | Speaker 2:

Why do you have to have a joint bank account for a green card? Approve your loyalty?

00:12:46 - 00:12:51 | Speaker 5:

Like, that seems so weird. I feel like that is a thing. Like, that does make sense because so many people just, like.

00:12:51 - 00:12:58 | Speaker 4:

Did you have to be together? Like, I always hear this story where people get married or with somebody to get a green card.

00:12:58 - 00:13:19 | Speaker 5:

So, you had to prove that you guys are in love, that you guys want to get married. So, there's a bunch of steps I had to do to get my green card. but also what helped was my wife was pregnant we got married we got a joint bank account I started working with my work permit

00:13:19 - 00:13:24 | Speaker 4:

be honest you only married her to get citizenship

00:13:24 - 00:13:29 | Speaker 5:

I told the immigration lawyer I can care less I'll go back to Canada

00:13:29 - 00:13:33 | Speaker 4:

I'm just kidding

00:13:33 - 00:13:36 | Speaker 5:

I just want to be here for her and the kids

00:13:36 - 00:13:39 | Speaker 4:

Aw, what a sweetie. Is she listening right now?

00:13:40 - 00:13:43 | Speaker 5:

No, she's in bed with two small ones.

00:13:44 - 00:13:49 | Speaker 4:

Aw. What can you tell us about her that she wouldn't want us to know?

00:13:50 - 00:13:52 | Speaker 5:

She snores in her sleep.

00:13:54 - 00:13:58 | Speaker 4:

That was damn American. All right, well, take care of yourself. We'll see you.

00:13:58 - 00:13:59 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, you too.

00:13:59 - 00:14:09 | Speaker 4:

Have a good one. All right, we'll see you. He's got such a, like, honestly, I was relaxed talking to him. I don't know what it was. I know, he's very soothing. He has no Canadian accent. Where the hell does the accent go?

00:14:10 - 00:14:28 | Speaker 3:

You got calm and relaxing? Yeah. Speaking of that, though, this lady used to braid my mama hair. She wanted me to marry her daughter to get her green card. Really? Where was she from? Some country, Africa. Was she hot? Nah. But she wanted to pay me $4,000. I was like, I ain't doing that. How about $4,000?

00:14:28 - 00:14:29 | Speaker 2:

$4,000 is $4,000.

00:14:29 - 00:14:42 | Speaker 3:

I know, but I don't. What price would you? Honestly. It probably would have to be a million or something like that. No, bro. That's kind of crazy, bro. Bro. Bro, I'm worth all the money. You tripping. How about a Big Mac and I'm in.

00:14:42 - 00:15:14 | Speaker 1:

You're telling me. Are you kidding me? I'm real hungry. The first season of the X Games League is ending in New Orleans and only one team walks away champion.
