This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:01:06 - 00:01:51 | Speaker 6:

I would say Bishop State's like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, people in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be the thing you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four year.

00:02:30 - 00:02:42 | Speaker 9:

All right, it's Mojo on the Morning Show. Kevin was told something about our job, actually his job specifically, that was offensive. You were offended by it.

00:02:42 - 00:03:31 | Speaker 8:

I was, man. And we had a conversation out this weekend, group of friends. few guys few ladies and somehow some way the conversation turns into the women talking about jobs that men have that can determine whether or not you're sexy and the women are saying that a man who does blank is so sexy and a lot of the jobs were like she was like man if i could find a dude who does something manly like oh fix the traffic light like you gotta go do what like oh that's just so sexy like guys who like work with their hands or lift heavy machinery or do things like that they find them sexy so i'm like well what about me because i'm not doing that oh no you're not sexy you just work on the radio you just talk for a living and i said damn and i just

00:03:31 - 00:03:37 | Speaker 9:

sat there and finished my drink wait they they said that because you don't work for with your

00:03:37 - 00:04:08 | Speaker 8:

hands for a living you're not a sexy guy yeah like my job doesn't scream attractiveness and To the women at the table, it was like, yeah, I'm sure you got to have confidence to talk and wait with words and all of that. But in terms of being sexy, like you're not working on anything, like you're not fixing anything. The traffic light thing was a real example. He's like, baby, let me call you back. I got to go fix a traffic light. She's like, what? Like, oh, my God, if a man just said that to me, I got to fix a traffic light. First off, I'd be like, why the hell did traffic light break? Why? What's going on? I don't know, man. I agree.

00:04:09 - 00:04:46 | Speaker 3:

So, Wade, you agree with this? Absolutely. Well, two things. I think that men who do physical labor are automatically more attractive, even if they're unattractive. And two, if you work on the radio, you're automatically unattractive, in my opinion. Agreed. As a woman who works in radio. I don't know. It's just the vibe. It's because we know all the guys who work in radio. We were attractive, Kev. They didn't work in the radio studio with you. Also. And this is not a shade on you guys. I love you like brothers. so like when i see another guy on radio it's just not a turn on to me i don't know as somebody who

00:04:46 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

works in radio y'all get so much feminine attention just being a dude in this industry versus this is so polarizing for women it's like a huge turn off for dudes so like just be great even if we don't

00:05:00 - 00:05:08 | Speaker 8:

If three people in the world don't think it's sexy, trust me, I've seen some really ugly dudes pull some really hot girls just because of their job.

00:05:08 - 00:05:33 | Speaker 6:

I've seen a lot of ugly construction workers, too. I just want you to know that. I've seen a lot, so I don't know if working necessarily with your hands. I always thought that it was bad. Like, you don't think a guy in a suit is hot? Like, if you see a guy walking into a big old business meeting or building, and he's got one of those cool suits on where he wears them too short. Like, they look like floods, and they're kind of well-groomed. You don't think those guys are sexy?

00:05:35 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, I think they're fine. I just prefer the dude with the clipboard and dirty jeans. That's just me, though.

00:05:42 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 3:

Clipboard. This is a conversation. You know what I think is so sexy is a guy who can chop vegetables.

00:05:49 - 00:05:50 | Unknown:

Chefs.

00:05:50 - 00:06:05 | Speaker 3:

No, I'm serious. Like, a chef. You've been watching the beer a lot. That's what that is. I kind of fell out of that. but something about a guy who can really cook and who has the dish towel slung over his shoulder. Jesus, I'll take my shirt off for you.

00:06:05 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 8:

You put him in any other job and he's the most unattractive man on the planet and I think Gordon Ramsay is hot. I think so too.

00:06:15 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 6:

A guy in a kitchen doing his thing. Alright, so here's the deal. I want to know are Kev and I sexy?

00:06:23 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 5:

No, that's not what I want to know.

00:06:25 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 6:

No, what are the jobs that make a guy sexy? What jobs make a guy sexy? 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665, 6548. Amanda wants to talk about Kev, though. What's up, Amanda?

00:06:37 - 00:06:38 | Speaker 9:

Kev's voice is sexy.

00:06:38 - 00:06:39 | Speaker 6:

Oh, yeah.

00:06:39 - 00:06:40 | Speaker 9:

That's all he needs.

00:06:40 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 6:

Hey, Amanda. Wait, you just changed your voice.

00:06:43 - 00:06:44 | Unknown:

Hey, Mandy.

00:06:44 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. What are you doing? That's the first one.

00:06:46 - 00:06:46 | Unknown:

Yeah.

00:06:46 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 6:

Why are you talking like that? You're Kev.

00:06:49 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 5:

This is how I talk.

00:06:50 - 00:06:54 | Speaker 6:

No, come on. This is the Mojo. The radio. The radio voice.

00:06:54 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 5:

The show. Exactly. Thank you, Amanda. I appreciate it.

00:06:57 - 00:07:04 | Speaker 6:

Amanda, aside from that, what jobs make a guy sexy? Like, what occupation do you think sexy guys have?

00:07:05 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 9:

Well, I think my four-year-old's dentist and his doctor are pretty sexy. Yeah.

00:07:10 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 6:

That's interesting. So you like kind of the guy that, you know, has the stethoscope or the lab coat on, huh?

00:07:17 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 9:

You can just handle a kid and...

00:07:18 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 6:

Oh, working with kids. That's an interesting one.

00:07:22 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 8:

Teacher is mine. Yeah. Really? Yeah, I think teachers are hot.

00:07:26 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 6:

What's going on, Chris? You wanted to make a comment, too, to Kevin?

00:07:30 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 1:

Morning, guys. So there's that saying, you have a face for radio. Cut the cab.

00:07:36 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 5:

I was about to say his name. Rest in peace to go. Mr. Chase used to say that all the time, but we broke the mold with that. I'm telling you. It's a lot of beautiful people in radio, Chris. Yeah.

00:07:48 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 8:

Because we have to be on social media now, too. Chris.

00:07:51 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 6:

Umberto. What's up, Umberto?

00:07:53 - 00:07:55 | Speaker 2:

Hey, good morning.

00:07:55 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 6:

Good morning. What's going on?

00:07:57 - 00:08:11 | Speaker 2:

Yes, I was in the military for 13 years as infantry. I work in construction now. Oh, we lost to this guy. I fixed my own vehicle. And like I said, I'm not the best looking guy. I don't think so.

00:08:12 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 6:

Do you chop vegetables? You can be the trifecta if you do all that.

00:08:16 - 00:08:24 | Speaker 2:

I do cook. My girlfriend likes that I cook and clean. And I have a degree in IT. and she is definitely

00:08:24 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 6:

and your name is Umberto I mean with a name like that you gotta be sexy by the way Umberto somebody just texted in here and said after KP just said that clipboard sales in Detroit just sold out I don't think clipboards by the way make a guy sexy

00:08:40 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 7:

you gotta have a clipboard where you can open it up put stuff inside it

00:08:43 - 00:08:47 | Speaker 6:

like a tool belt or something what's up Dana how you doing

00:08:47 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 9:

hi I'm doing great how are you

00:08:49 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 6:

we're doing great we're asking what is the occupation that makes a guy sexy?

00:08:55 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 9:

My husband is a tree climber, and when he puts his saddle and spikes on, I think it is extremely

00:09:01 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 6:

sexy. Do you just want him to climb you?

00:09:05 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 9:

Yeah. Yeah, I tell him I like to climb trees all the time.

00:09:09 - 00:09:18 | Speaker 6:

Oh, my gosh. That, by the way, any guy that can do that, these guys, oh, you got, now you're manly men. What's going on? Is it Grayson?

00:09:19 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, Grayson, yeah. What's happening? Good. I'm on my way to work.

00:09:25 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 6:

Thank you for listening. What's going on? Do you want to call up and tell us an occupation that you think guys are that are sexy?

00:09:33 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 7:

Yes. So my husband, he is prior military, and then now he is a diesel technician. And I never thought that that would be hot, but it definitely is.

00:09:47 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 4:

What is a diesel technician? like kp over here is sweating and she can't even tell me what that is it just sounds manly huh what is a diesel technician does he pump gas like what does that mean no he like he like

00:10:00 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 9:

He fixes semis, and then he has a CDL, so he can drive them as well.

00:10:06 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 4:

Does he smell like diesel when he comes home?

00:10:10 - 00:10:23 | Speaker 9:

Well, he works second shift, so when he comes home, I'm asleep, and he takes a shower, so he's all good. But if I'm there, and I'm awake, then yeah, but honestly, a quick shower, and he's good.

00:10:23 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, no, that's good. Thank you for the call. I appreciate it. Kristen, hi. What's for you sexy?

00:10:30 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 7:

Hey, Mojo, I'm 100% with you, a guy in a suit. Absolutely.

00:10:34 - 00:10:46 | Speaker 4:

By the way, be careful when you say it that way. It makes it sound like I'm hot for guys in suits. I should use that as an example. But I'm okay. I am kind of hot for guys in suits. I wish I could wear a suit. A suit wears me.

00:10:47 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 7:

And, Mojo, the sound of your voice made me look you up to see what you look like. I could do that. And what are your thoughts?

00:10:54 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 4:

What are your thoughts?

00:10:55 - 00:10:56 | Speaker 5:

Oh, I'm very handsome.

00:10:56 - 00:10:57 | Speaker 4:

Oh, thank you.

00:10:57 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 5:

To prove my point, two women have now called in to talk about how sexy your voices are.

00:11:03 - 00:11:03 | Speaker 4:

Listen.

00:11:03 - 00:11:04 | Speaker 5:

Don't be saying that for us.

00:11:04 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 4:

I don't know if you know this, but I'm also part Cuban. When I tell people that I'm Cuban, they love me.

00:11:08 - 00:11:13 | Speaker 5:

He's got the cigar in his mouth. Can I one-up this?

00:11:13 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 9:

I don't like that in here.

00:11:14 - 00:11:15 | Speaker 4:

Go ahead.

00:11:15 - 00:11:22 | Speaker 5:

Can I one-up the suit thing, though, really fast? Yeah. If he rolls up his sleeves and has tattoos, game over. Game over. Oh, man.

00:11:22 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 3:

You want the best of both worlds.

00:11:23 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 5:

Yeah.

00:11:24 - 00:11:31 | Speaker 3:

Listen, does this make me look sexy when I got a cigar hanging out of my mouth? Looks like I got a penis hanging out of my mouth. Sounds like you took your dentures out.

00:11:31 - 00:11:31 | Speaker 5:

God.

00:11:32 - 00:11:38 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got to say that. What's going on? How's the cold, Bruin? Hi, Kay. What's up?

00:11:39 - 00:11:41 | Speaker 8:

Good morning, guys. How are you?

00:11:41 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 4:

We're good. What's going on? We're talking about what makes a guy sexy. He's doing sexy stuff.

00:11:45 - 00:11:56 | Speaker 8:

So my boyfriend is in a 80s rock cover band. He's lead guitarist. and I am obsessed with watching it.

00:11:57 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 4:

Guys, any guy that's in a band with a guitar.

00:12:02 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 8:

It's hot to see other girls trying to go at him.

00:12:06 - 00:12:10 | Speaker 9:

I love it. It's so sexy and the hair and everything.

00:12:10 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 4:

There is something about guys with... I hate guys with guitars. What's up, Misty?

00:12:15 - 00:12:17 | Speaker 6:

Hi, how are you?

00:12:18 - 00:12:19 | Speaker 4:

Good. What's going on?

00:12:20 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 6:

I'm just working. So, mine is a carpenter. It's all about that tool belt, the hammer. But, like, when I go to the drive-thru, like, you guys all have, like, the best voice for radio. And, I don't know, Shannon's voice is just perfect, honestly, for the radio to me. Yeah.

00:12:37 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 4:

Well, thanks. See? But why in a drive-thru? What are you talking about drive-thru is, though?

00:12:40 - 00:12:50 | Speaker 6:

So, when I go to the drive-thru and I hear somebody, you know, like, over the air con taking the order, I'll think to myself, like, wow, that person has, like, a radio voice. Oh, great.

00:12:51 - 00:12:52 | Speaker 4:

That's our backup plan.

00:12:53 - 00:13:00 | Speaker 6:

That's right. But your guys' jobs are relevant. Thank you. And then you have a great voice. Like, you guys are all the same.

00:13:00 - 00:13:09 | Speaker 4:

Do me a favor. Pull around to the second window. We'll talk to you in a little bit. Jay, what do you do for a living? I'm a crane operator. Oh, Jesus.

00:13:09 - 00:13:15 | Speaker 5:

There he goes. There he is, boy. I talked to him. Yeah, you're that voice. Bro, record audio books.

00:13:16 - 00:13:20 | Speaker 10:

I'm a crane operator, and I do private security on the side.

00:13:20 - 00:13:23 | Speaker 4:

So you slinging that rod all day on the crane, huh?

00:13:24 - 00:13:25 | Speaker 10:

Yeah, baby.

00:13:27 - 00:13:28 | Speaker 5:

Oh, listen to the laugh.

00:13:29 - 00:13:34 | Speaker 4:

Jay, what do you use, like, what's going on with that crane? What's that crane doing?

00:13:35 - 00:13:41 | Speaker 10:

I pick up anywhere from 20 foot to 53 foot containers off the truck and the train.

00:13:42 - 00:13:50 | Speaker 4:

That's amazing. He's dying over here. Buddy, how big is your penis? Oh, my. Is your penis as big as that crane?

00:13:50 - 00:13:53 | Speaker 10:

I'm as big as a baby leg.

00:13:53 - 00:14:02 | Speaker 5:

Are you single? Like an elbow, man. There you go. Call me.

00:14:03 - 00:14:06 | Speaker 3:

This is unbelievable. I am single. All right.

00:14:06 - 00:14:37 | Speaker 1:

and business leaders have to say alan lee my major is drafting and design in high school i did it since my sophomore year and i kind of wanted to continue it was the only thing i was good at i didn't want to move to a four-year i don't think i was mentally prepared i found bishop state they had the program. I met a few people there. I ended up enrolling. The instructor, first I met him, I told him about my background. He said, okay, great. You know about this. He built me straight to work. He didn't let me have any leeway. He pushed me to my limits. So I think that made me choose drafting design at Bishop State and stuck with it. The sport's amazing. All my instructors just want to see me succeed. They want to push me to my limit. They want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be. And I really appreciate all of them. With my degree, as of right now, my plan is to work for the city of Mobile with their urban planning department, and I've already got a job shadow before, and hopefully I will internship over the summer. If you choose Bishop, we're welcome to have you any day.
