First off, I cannot believe that we were able to get you to wake up this early on a game day. Do you not sleep in until like, I don't know, one in the afternoon or something like that for an eight o'clock game?

No, I got kids. I got to wake up early. But no, we have a morning skate anyway, so we have to be at the rink. You know, we have a 1030 morning skate, so I'm usually here getting ready. You know, probably right around this time I usually get here anyway, so it was not a problem.

I got to ask you with having, you know, kids and trying to, you know, do the whole family thing, which, by the way, I've seen you and your family. You guys got a beautiful family. I don't know if I could, you know, do the energy that I see you guys do on the ice and still have energy in the middle of the night to wake up for a feeding or for, you know, making Eggos for your kids, you know?

Yeah, I mean, honestly, my wife does a lot of that. So she's the real all-star in this family, and she's taking care of most of that. So she lets me do my stuff on game days, and I'll pitch in when I can. But she's really the ruler of the family.

Where did you meet Tracy? Where did you guys meet?

I met Lindsey at – Where did Lindsey? Just in high school. Yeah, Tracy's my mom.

Tracy, I don't know why I thought it was – He met her in the womb. No, where did you meet Lindsey? Where did you guys meet her?

We met in high school. One of my mutual friends I played hockey with went to her high school. So we didn't go to the same school, but just through a hockey buddy. And, yeah, the rest is history.

Did you go to a Farmington school? Did you go to Harrison?

Yeah, I went to Harrison for one year.

And then you did what, the whole hockey thing where they pull you out and they go to Senia to, like?

Yeah, I went to prep school in Chicago for one year after that, and then I went to junior, so I went to the OHL after that. Yeah, then I went to Chicago and played for the Blackhawks.

Buddy, how happy are you to be home, though?

Yeah, it's awesome. I think just having everything, having my parents here, having Lindsey's parents here, just with the kids and everything, obviously a lot of help but obviously um just a lot more family time and stuff they get to see their their grandkids more than um you know just twice a year or something like that so it's uh it's a perfect spot i love the love the guys on the team love love the area um you know

it's fun coming to the rink every every day and um just grinding with these guys all right alex

you can't see us right now but in the studio we are all decked out in our red wings gear we are so excited for the season it kicks off tonight against the penguins how excited are you to get

this thing ready to go yeah super excited i feel like we've been we've been working hard for the past couple weeks getting training camp um you know over with and now the real thing starts so So we're definitely excited, and there's a lot of energy in this locker room. And I know in the city, too, I think we feel that, and we're definitely excited to get that home crowd tonight.

When you see what's going on with, obviously you saw the Lions last year and this year, but when you see what the Tigers are doing, and it's a very, very young team, the Tigers, with a couple really good veterans on their team. Do you guys see that as a catalyst to get you guys going? Because you guys came this close to making the playoffs last year.

Yeah, 100%. I think we kind of feed off that energy. I know the city's fired up for them. We're all fired up. We're watching every game and really dialed into that right now. So, you know, I think the extra energy is awesome. It's so good to see them doing good. And obviously the Lions, too. And, you know, you kind of feed off that energy. The sports fans are finally, you know, getting what they deserve and some good teams. and, you know, I know it's been a tough couple of years or, you know, maybe a little longer than a couple of years for a lot of these guys' teams. So we're hoping to add to that excitement and, you know, really come out this year strong.

All right, so we got Alex to bring it on with us right now. How many guys on the team are single guys, like, that aren't married at all? Are there a lot?

Not too many, I don't think. I feel like we have a little bit of an older team, but there's a couple single guys. I wouldn't say too many, though.

You were like, tell me about how your golf game was that day. And you were very talkative. So I felt, I felt okay with it.
