mojo in the morning your home of the war of the roses second date update shannon's dirty throwback throwdown and more phone number 844-665-6548 that is 844 mojo live. Shannon would like to make a retraction right now on the radio. Don't you hate this? Don't you hate this, Shannon? No. You hate when you make fun of things and then all of a sudden you start doing them. Like the

00:02:21 - 00:02:24 | Speaker 4:

famous deep wave that you made fun of for so long. Oh, I knew you were going to bring it up. And then there you are.

00:02:24 - 00:02:32 | Speaker 6:

Mine's worse, I think, than yours, though. I think the fact that I made fun of anybody that did a Jeep wave and then bought a Jeep and started being part of that cult.

00:02:32 - 00:04:20 | Speaker 4:

Well, I don't know that I was very public in my distaste. Is that a word for this? But I always thought it was such a cheesy thing when couples would talk about going on date nights. It would make me cringe so much when someone was like, we're going on a date night. We put date night on our date night. I don't know why that phrase really just hated it. It was just really cringy to me. And now I have to apologize to all of those people that I judged because I get it. Wes and I are, you guys, like two ships passing until I would say about 730 every night. Just between his work and my work and Aaron's and getting four kids to where they need to be and situated. And so when he gets home and I get home from all of our stuff around 7.30, even then I'm still finishing getting the kids situated with dinner and homework and bedtime, which takes 10 hours in itself. So I truly don't have any sort of quality time with him until I would say about 9.15. And by then, you guys know, we are zombies at that time. Like the only thing I can do is think about laying in bed and going to sleep. So we started being strategic and planning a date night every single week And we even put it on the calendar I told him I was like can we please just put it as something other than date night I don't know why I hate that phrase so much But I get it and I look forward to it so much And I think it's crazy how much it helps not only my mental state But our relationship in general to just have that to look forward to And also to spend a chunk of quality time with him without anybody else around

00:04:20 - 00:04:55 | Speaker 6:

I think you don't like date night because it's usually the people that are saying that we're going on date nights that are probably the people that you're like, wait a second, don't you guys like early in relationships, you always think, oh, every night should be a date night. You're always dating or whatever the deal is like the fact that you have to put it on a calendar. I remember we've talked before on the show about people that literally put everything on a calendar, including baking cookies on the calendar. And I think it's like, hey, sometimes you don't, you know, don't get it. And then all of a sudden you now have, you went from two to four kids and you got what? There's six people in that house.

00:04:56 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 4:

Six people, three dogs, two working parents.

00:05:00 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 3:

It's no ferrets. I'm scared of them. I still stand behind scheduling baking cookies is weird unless you're trying to expand your family and you're like ovulating. And it's like a reminder like now is the time you have to. I don't agree.

00:05:14 - 00:05:38 | Speaker 1:

Really? I don't. I think what you're doing right now is amazing because it adds back intentionality. And I think there are so many things that can go on throughout your day that you can lose sight of the thing that's closest to you. No, I agree. You know what I mean? No. I think having sex, you should schedule it because if you don't, you'll look up and that'll be another reason why there's tension in the relationship.

00:05:38 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 2:

You know what's so funny, Kev? So I still agree with Megan where, like, the date night, now I can apologize and say, okay, that is something that needs to be scheduled. Especially now, I have to get a babysitter. I have to, you know, arrange whatever. The sex to me is still, can you guys hear my asthma? I'm so sorry. I sound like a 90-year-old. Um, my, the sex on the calendar to me is still weird. However, when Wes and I were talking about this date night situation, he made mention of this and I don't say this in a braggy way. Our, our sex life is very, very healthy right now. But he, his argument was why wouldn't you put that on the calendar and give it as much attention because it is so important as he's like, you put, you know, reminders for Lucy's girl scout snack on the calendar to make sure that you go to kroger and get that you put all of the kids sports and stuff on there you put all of your work stuff and he's like yet the thing that is the most important is the intimacy that you and i share and he's like and not necessarily in a sexual way but that is important and we usually that's the thing that gets like knocked off the list at the end of the day because everything else has taken precedence right you got

00:06:47 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 4:

so i get that argument you got a family night doing it but i get the argument family night at school you got parent teacher conferences you got swimming lacrosse track and field cross country

00:06:57 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 3:

snap football flag yeah you're describing all of those things they're all to do's that i've got to check off my list and not forget to do whatever and not sharing a moment of intimacy and connectivity where you're valuing each other in that moment i agree very much not authentic and more like a to do because I agree it's required and I don't think that's what sex should be in a relationship

00:07:22 - 00:07:50 | Speaker 1:

that's the mindset is that it becomes and when we view a to-do list we think task and when we think of love we think of harmony something that you shouldn't have to do something that you should be but when you're being there's gonna have to be things that you do and sex is one of those things that you would love for it to just be in something that's free-flowing and something that isn't task oriented but when you have a task oriented life it just happens to become one of those things that

00:07:50 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 4:

if it's not listed it will be forgotten yeah it becomes honestly it becomes that uh like shannon says you get in bed at the end of the night you're exhausted and the last thing you want to do it's like working out it's like exercising is more important than having sex exercising is more important because it keeps you alive right i actually had to start putting i had to block out

00:08:12 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 2:

gym time on my calendar because if I didn't I would do something else in that time and that's important to me right now so I have to put that on there

00:08:21 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 4:

but what happens when you don't put it on the fact that you need exercise you don't do it because you don't like it to do it it's not that you don't like to have sex it's just that you got other things that you kind of have to cross off your list that become more important for you, you don't want to let your kids down you're willing, you're easier to let yourself down or your relationship down than let your kids

00:08:42 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 3:

your work your friends but i'd much rather schedule time to do something for my partner to make them feel valued than to have sex yeah because well and that's that's the whole like

00:08:54 - 00:09:00 | Speaker 2:

the i it's now listed as hot date on our calendar we can't even do date night so it's not only a

00:09:00 - 00:09:23 | Speaker 4:

date but it's a hot date um um 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 texas 95500 are there any listeners that do this where they put everything down. They've got their date night down. They've got, like, they literally maybe color-coat their calendars and stuff. By the way, you don't have an actual physical calendar. Do you use your phone or devices or something? Or do you have a physical calendar?

00:09:24 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 2:

No, like, this is my calendar. It's not my... Damn. I know. That's what I'm saying. That's crazy. That's what I'm saying. And everything's color-coded. You're very organized.

00:09:33 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 4:

She's extremely organized.

00:09:34 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 2:

Jesus Christ.

00:09:35 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 4:

Mine is, I have notes to myself, little sticky notes that I hope that don't go away. But, you know, the interesting thing is that we have like the calendar that I remember that would hang up in our cupboard and it would be the calendar of all the kids stuff. And every kid had a color, you know, it's like, you know, red marker for Joe and green marker for Jacob and, you know, blue marker for Luke. But the funniest is you can't put some of the fun.

00:10:00 - 00:10:35 | Speaker 1:

couple stuff on that on that calendar where the kids are going to be like what's this calendar item here what's this yellow yeah what's what is that all about uh texter here says shannon way to go good job on taking care of your relationship uh another one here says uh shannon uh this is 734 734 says shannon it just happens once you turn 40 it's interesting i think it's kind of When you're younger, time doesn't fly by as fast as it does when you get over 35 years old or 40 years old or even 50 years old. It feels like things fly by. The day flies by. It's like, where's the day gone?

00:10:35 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 6:

And also, as the kids get older, my calendar gets more packed.

00:10:39 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 1:

Crazy.

00:10:39 - 00:10:40 | Speaker 6:

It's just crazy.

00:10:41 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 1:

Joe. What's up, Joe?

00:10:43 - 00:10:44 | Speaker 3:

Hey, good morning.

00:10:44 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 1:

Good morning.

00:10:45 - 00:10:58 | Speaker 3:

Shannon. Yes. You just need to tackle Wes. Get the kids. Go to the grandparents. I do it all the time with my wife. I get the mother-in-law. I'm like, Ma, I need to get some. You need to watch the kids.

00:10:59 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 6:

The sex is not the problem right now, being very honest with you. It's the date night. It's the date. It's just finding time to be together, like, at a normal time of the day.

00:11:07 - 00:11:11 | Speaker 3:

Or even asking your parents or his parents to watch the kids.

00:11:11 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 6:

His parents are no longer with us. But, yeah.

00:11:14 - 00:11:21 | Speaker 1:

Do you have that exact words to your mother or step or mother-in-law? You say, I need to get some?

00:11:23 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 3:

Not exactly. term, but she knows what I'm getting at. Or get Mojo, or get one of your friends on the show to watch the kids so you guys can go out.

00:11:32 - 00:11:35 | Speaker 6:

That's not, no, no. They would love that.

00:11:36 - 00:11:38 | Speaker 1:

Megan, that would be a friendship thing to do.

00:11:40 - 00:11:42 | Speaker 3:

It's always the single person. It's never you guys.

00:11:42 - 00:11:52 | Speaker 1:

Weird. I don't necessarily think that it's the hard part is getting people to watch the kids. It's the kids have so many activities. I've said this to Shannon numerous times. I think her kids are in way too many activities.

00:11:53 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:11:53 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 1:

I think those kids are...

00:11:54 - 00:11:55 | Speaker 6:

They're each and two right now.

00:11:55 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 1:

Okay, so that's better than what it used to be, more, right?

00:11:58 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 6:

Oh, yeah.

00:11:59 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 1:

There was a point where she was like, yeah, I'm going to lacrosse swimming and some other things. Baseball. And I'm like... And girls. Holy Christ. What's up, Mojo in the morning? Hello.

00:12:09 - 00:12:10 | Speaker 5:

Hello.

00:12:10 - 00:12:10 | Speaker 1:

Hi.

00:12:12 - 00:12:17 | Speaker 5:

Hi, I got through. You got through. Who's this? This is Ty.

00:12:17 - 00:12:23 | Speaker 1:

Hey, Ty, do you put things on a calendar? Do you have a calendar full of all your events?

00:12:24 - 00:12:41 | Speaker 4:

No, I do not. And I am with Megan on this. Because when you were dating, you didn't put nothing on the calendar. It wasn't that hard to have a date. It wasn't that hard to hook up. So now that you're married, so now everything will happen. How did everything get in the way now?

00:12:42 - 00:12:47 | Speaker 1:

Well, it's called kids. Do you know how many kids that she's got?

00:12:47 - 00:12:54 | Speaker 4:

You know how many dogs I have? You had all the kids when you were dating. They don't have any new kids.

00:12:54 - 00:12:54 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:12:55 - 00:13:04 | Speaker 6:

But our custody schedule has changed as well. Yeah, and I also did agree that it was a good idea to schedule dates. It's the baking cookies that I'm not a fan of scheduling.

00:13:05 - 00:13:10 | Speaker 4:

I agree with you. Why is it just spontaneous? It was spontaneous when you were dating.

00:13:10 - 00:13:15 | Speaker 6:

You are not listening to this conversation, so hang up the phone. Oh, my gosh.

00:13:15 - 00:13:17 | Speaker 5:

Oh, my gosh. Wow.

00:13:17 - 00:13:19 | Speaker 6:

I will eff you up, bitch.

00:13:19 - 00:13:20 | Speaker 1:

Wow.

00:13:20 - 00:13:23 | Speaker 6:

He's trying to make an argument that we already agreed with.

00:13:24 - 00:13:28 | Speaker 1:

No, she agrees on the sex part. I agree on the sex thing. What do you think about the dating part? She puts dates on that.

00:13:28 - 00:13:35 | Speaker 6:

Let me just let my kids run around the neighborhood while we go out. It's called seven years old. One free, little one.

00:13:35 - 00:13:36 | Speaker 1:

In the closets.

00:13:36 - 00:13:41 | Speaker 4:

They weren't running around the neighborhood when you were dating. They were not.

00:13:41 - 00:13:44 | Speaker 1:

All right. Well, thank you for the call. We appreciate it.

00:13:44 - 00:13:52 | Speaker 4:

And by the way, Sue, this is my first time getting through, and I'm a long-time listener. What's your name? Except you don't listen.

00:13:52 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 5:

What's your name again? His name's Ty. Ty. Ty's on the phone. Like a necktie.

00:13:56 - 00:14:02 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, like a necktie. Necktie is on the phone. All right. What's up, Jacqueline?

00:14:03 - 00:14:49 | Speaker 2:

Hey, good morning, y'all. Hi. Good morning. Hey, so, Shannon, I get what you're saying. I know my ex was kind of like that. And we have seven kids, so I was like, please, let's just put something on the calendar so we can have a date night. Because it does get so busy with school and life and work and everything. And unfortunately, he didn't want to do it. And so it became a point of contention. I mean, it's not the whole reason we divorced, but it sure didn't help. So if it's something Wes really feels strongly about and you could just, like, do it once in a while, it might just put some ease in his mind. For sure, yeah. He's just saying that you're so important to him And he wants to feel like He's as important as all those things on your calendar He just wants to see his name there You know what I mean?

00:14:49 - 00:14:56 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, now unfortunately our date night this week is Kev, you know what it is On Friday night, it's Maxwell It's that concert night

00:14:56 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 5:

That's a hot date, baby Alright

00:15:00 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 7:

Get ready, Shannon.

00:15:00 - 00:15:02 | Speaker 4:

Get ready. Really taking one for the team here.

00:15:03 - 00:15:05 | Speaker 7:

He'll make it up to you. Juan, what's up?

00:15:06 - 00:15:19 | Speaker 4:

Good morning, guys. Good morning. Yeah, I don't schedule a damn, a darn thing. I live my life recklessly. You know, just as the things go by, you just got to do things, you know, organically.

00:15:19 - 00:15:20 | Speaker 7:

Are you in a relationship?

00:15:21 - 00:15:31 | Speaker 4:

I was in a relationship. And living in the city, it was just like that. It was our lives were so busy with the kids and whatnot. Yeah. Just how to do it when we could.

00:15:32 - 00:15:37 | Speaker 7:

Do you recommend that? Because it sounds to me like your relationship ended for a reason. Why did it end?

00:15:39 - 00:15:45 | Speaker 4:

Financial reasons. Being in the city, you got to have money. And these girls these days, man, pockets ain't too deep, man.

00:15:46 - 00:15:52 | Speaker 7:

They want more fun things, and you can't afford the fun things.

00:15:52 - 00:15:58 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, living in New Jersey. That's right next to New York City, and that's all they wanted to do. Okay. I don't go out.

00:15:58 - 00:16:00 | Speaker 7:

So are you calling us from Jersey right now?

00:16:01 - 00:16:05 | Speaker 4:

I'm not. I've been back. I was at the rooftop party. I'm the blue suit.

00:16:05 - 00:16:08 | Speaker 7:

Okay. All right. So you moved. Yeah.

00:16:08 - 00:16:11 | Speaker 4:

Yeah. I moved over here a few years ago.

00:16:11 - 00:16:16 | Speaker 7:

Are Detroit girls as expensive as New Jersey girls?

00:16:17 - 00:16:22 | Speaker 4:

Quite a bit. Quite a bit. Not too much. The cost of living is a little lower over here. So it's adequate. Not too bad.

00:16:23 - 00:16:26 | Speaker 7:

Okay. The cost of dating instead of the cost of living.

00:16:26 - 00:16:30 | Speaker 3:

That's real, though. So, I mean, I don't agree with everything he said, but it is expensive.

00:16:30 - 00:16:35 | Speaker 7:

What about the high-maintenance factor of women? I don't agree with it. No? Are guys just as high-maintenance, do you think?

00:16:35 - 00:16:44 | Speaker 3:

No, I don't. It's just expensive? I just think everything now is considered high-maintenance when a dinner, like a cheap dinner out is $50. Yeah. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah.

00:16:44 - 00:16:48 | Speaker 7:

Well, that's the other thing. Date night doesn't have to be out night. It can be inside the house night, right?

00:16:48 - 00:16:59 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, but unfortunately, especially when you're starting to date, you don't invite people over to your house, like, for the first date night. So if you're dating a few people to try to get to know somebody, that can add up real quick.

00:16:59 - 00:17:10 | Speaker 7:

Zach said Tinder got different options now. Wait, freebies? What? You don't have to pay for things? You got to ask, you got to ask. What's up, David? Hi. Hi, how are you? Good. Last call on this one. What's going on?

00:17:11 - 00:17:25 | Speaker 6:

So, I mean, that only makes sense as a blue-collar guy myself. I live out here, and I've been with my wife. We've been married now for four months as of yesterday. and we actually have to do the same thing and set time aside because if not you just

00:17:25 - 00:17:39 | Speaker 7:

prolapse yourself yeah well then your routine becomes a routine of not taking care of each other and i think that's that's a problem yeah chelsea and i used to do it too we need to do it again too we're the problem is just be intentional about it yeah yeah that's the number

00:17:39 - 00:17:49 | Speaker 6:

that's the number one uh you know the number one thing there is to keep your relationship open and communicative and be able to give each other that proper love and compassion

00:17:49 - 00:17:58 | Speaker 7:

Yeah. Listen, we have a routine on the show. We do things at certain times. We do, you know, the dirty on the 30 and we're late with it. So I got to get to it.

00:18:19 - 00:18:47 | Speaker 1:
