So, Mike, by the way, how was that, the wedding, the last-minute invite wedding?

00:03:26 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 6:

Oh, yeah. I didn't go. Oh, really? Yeah. No, I didn't go because I found out later that day that it was just an invite to the wedding, not invite to the wedding reception. Oh, you are kidding me. Yeah, and I'm not going to that.

00:03:43 - 00:03:57 | Speaker 8:

For those that missed this, last week Mike said that he got an invite, like on Thursday, to a wedding, and the people sent you just the church service part of the invite? They didn't send you, like, the reception invite? That's what I'm telling you.

00:03:57 - 00:04:01 | Speaker 6:

I was just a seat filler. I was literally there, I'm assuming, for pictures. Can you do that?

00:04:01 - 00:04:07 | Speaker 3:

No, not for that. You were there because they wanted another gift, but they didn't want to have to pay for your food at the reception.

00:04:08 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 8:

Oh, I didn't even think of that. I thought for sure. I'm sorry, Megan, but I thought for sure that it was because they were going to have leftover meals, and they were just going to give them one of the people. spots, but I'm sorry, Meg, what did you say? You don't give a gift

00:04:19 - 00:04:34 | Speaker 3:

unless you go to the reception. Oh, but I think that they invited him thinking, of course he's going to bring a gift if he's coming to our wedding, even if it's just the church service. Actually, Megan, it's funny. I think that the... I would give a gift is what I'm saying. Even if I just went to the church service.

00:04:35 - 00:04:47 | Speaker 8:

I think that etiquette says to you that if you get an invite, you still have to buy a gift. Even if you say decline to the wedding, you still have to buy a gift. I'm not giving him anything. Well, I don't blame you. That was the last minute.

00:04:48 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 4:

When have I ever followed etiquette rules? That's true.

00:04:51 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 8:

I listened back, by the way, to your going out to the fancy restaurant date that you had. And I was listening back to that thing, realizing just how...

00:05:00 - 00:05:09 | Speaker 5:

We all should do an etiquette class. Just for the sake of a great social post of us sitting there trying to put the napkin in our shirt.

00:05:09 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 2:

But there's absolutely no way. The reason that I'm getting you a gift is because you've paid for my experience at this party. But if I'm going to something you didn't pay for, and I get it. You pay for the church, right?

00:05:24 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 5:

I think that, yeah, you have to make a donation or in some cases you have to rent it almost, you know?

00:05:28 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 1:

Well, that's on you. You chose to get married in the church. But going back to what Mojo said about you, you give even if you're not going because truly, I mean, you're supposed to be giving for the couple not to recoup any cost that they're, you know, that they're incurring from putting on the wedding. You're supposed to, it's like for them to start their life together.

00:05:47 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 2:

But who doesn't live together at this point anymore?

00:05:49 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 5:

Right. Live in sin. You encourage it.

00:05:53 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 2:

How many times have you gone to a wedding and they're like, honeymoon find, we already live together. We already have everything.

00:05:58 - 00:06:02 | Speaker 4:

Yep. Here's my question real quick. Again, Kev, new to the show. New to the marriage thing, not marry you.

00:06:02 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 5:

I just told Kevin, I said, anytime you jump on, you got to explain who you are. I want you to do it, Kevin, like Maura McDonald from Local 4 here in town where she goes, back to you. Hi, I'm Maura McDonald from Local 4. I like that.

00:06:14 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 4:

No, Kevin, what's going on? Yeah, but like, does the invitation say ceremony only? Like, how do you know that you're not invited to the reception?

00:06:22 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 3:

This was a text that I got, which was basically, actually, I didn't get it. It was Allie's coworkers, or old coworkers. And it was like, hey, you know, wedding, I know this is last minute, but we'd love to have you there. Some seats, I think some seats opened up or whatever, and we'd love to have you there. And then as we got closer to going to it, it was, hey, just so you know, it's just for the ceremony.

00:06:46 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 1:

So you got invited over text.

00:06:49 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I think there was a – what ended up happening is they had her old work, they had it up in, like, the break room or something. So, like, employees were going, and they're like, we'll tell old employees, too. We'd love to see everybody there. And I'm like –

00:07:03 - 00:07:07 | Speaker 4:

Wait, the wedding's in the break room? No. No, that's where they told everybody about it.

00:07:07 - 00:07:16 | Speaker 5:

You know what this is like, honestly? This is like – do you remember back in the day when you'd go into Meijer or Kroger and they had a bulletin board where you could put, like, your garage sale stuff on?

00:07:17 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 1:

I would put – I had a gift wrapping service when I was in high school, And I would put my little phone numbers, you know, on the bottom, you could rip it off and take the information, take my information with you.

00:07:26 - 00:07:33 | Speaker 5:

That's what it's like. Come to my wedding, rip off a piece here and you can come to the thing. So I didn't end up going to that. What did you end up doing then for the weekend?

00:07:34 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 3:

Oh, so I ended up going to, Allie ended up taking Cecily out for a girls night because this is the last weekend before baby's coming. Baby's either coming next weekend or sometime next week. And we are, this is the last weekend to really go do anything. So she took Cecily out Who's my daughter and she's 8 years old And then I took Milo out We had a little dudes night and he's 3 And we ended up going to Rivertown Crossings Mall and we went to Friday's And got some food

00:08:03 - 00:08:05 | Speaker 5:

TGI Friday's

00:08:05 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 3:

I know it, the kid loves it Do they still have the Potato skin appetizer? Oh yeah, loaded potato skins? Absolutely, but we get there And we're sitting down and he wants to sit in my lap and watch PBS Kids on my phone. So I'm like wrestling him around trying to get him to sit down and the waitress comes up and she starts, you know, asking stuff. She could see that I'm kind of like he's wrestling around and I'm trying to get him situated. She's like, I'll get your drinks. I'll be right back. And at the time I didn't think anything of how quickly she came back, but she was back very quick and then she had a beer in her hand. And I'm like, I don't think I ordered a beer. And she's like, hey, just so you know, I accidentally poured this. It's supposed to go to, it was supposed to be a tall, it's a short. Do you want this? And I'm like, what? Yeah, I'll take a free beer. She's like, all right, it's on the house. And then throughout the night. Yeah, yeah, throughout the night, she kept giving us free, like he got extra ice cream. He got extra French, he got a bigger plate of French fries. And I'm like, what is going on here? What is happening here? Does she think I'm like, and I started replaying, like playing out scenarios. Like, is she just being really nice? Does she just want a good tip? Does she think I'm a single dad? Do single parents get free stuff all the time?

00:09:21 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 5:

Was she asking you about being a dad, or did she do anything that kind of referenced that at all?

00:09:27 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

Where are you wearing your wedding ring? Of course, always. Yeah, yeah. But at the time when she'd walked up, I was wrestling him, trying to get him situated, so my hands were under the table. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah. So I don't know that she saw it, because she was back very quick when she brought the first beer. And I don't know that she, Because we were sitting on the same side of the table, and she was there quickly, but she asked, like, how old is he? And she was asking me stuff about him, but she never brought up my wife. Not one single time did she bring up, are you married?

00:10:00 - 00:10:02 | Speaker 1:

or mom or anything like that,

00:10:03 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 2:

and then she just kept bringing up free stuff. Wow. Man. Can I borrow Milo today? Well, is it a single-parent thing? Do you think that, like... Well, it might also be... Maybe it's not because you had your wedding ring on, like Shannon pointed out, that you were wearing a wedding ring. Maybe it wasn't so much a single-parent thing. Maybe it was just, like, she was like, oh, this is like a dad with his kids. Like a dad's on a date. That's cool. She was, like, liking the fact that you were doing it, and she was, you know, liking that you were, you know, taking care of your son, and she wanted just to kind of, like, throw you a bone or two or something. I don't know. Let me ask Caitlin. Caitlin, what's going on? Oh, Caitlin, real quick, before you say your comment about the wedding, what do you think? Why was the waitress at Friday's giving Mike a bunch of free stuff with Milo? What do you think her thought was on that? i think it was out of pity she felt bad for him so she felt bad that he was by himself with you

00:11:02 - 00:11:07 | Speaker 4:

know just doing a yeah struggling with mile milo yeah and it was a nighttime thing right so it was

00:11:07 - 00:11:21 | Speaker 2:

like you were there at night not like in the middle of the day right yeah yeah yeah so you're out on a you know saturday night hanging out milo you know or friday night what night yeah so friday night yeah no that's actually pretty uh that's pretty interesting what you were calling

00:11:21 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 4:

up about the wedding thing yeah so i got married last month and um we had a bunch of people's like relatives families the flights get canceled like the day before our wedding so all of a sudden we had a bunch of tables and we didn't want the food to go to waste so i was inviting a lot of people last minute but as lydia who did not come oh lydia from our show wait do you guys know each other, or you just know each other from you calling in? We met once out and about. That's when Ellen was still on the show.

00:11:54 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 2:

Oh, that's kind of cool. That's nice. By the way, you should have invited Mike and Milo.

00:12:00 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 1:

Could have gotten a free meal. If I could have gone to the reception, I would have been there.

00:12:05 - 00:12:12 | Speaker 4:

But that being said, I did not expect gifts for any of the guests that were invited last minute. I just didn't want that $100 meal to go to

00:12:12 - 00:12:24 | Speaker 2:

waste. Yeah. No, that's a good thing to do. I guess at the last minute invitation. If you don't get a physical invitation, do you really have to buy a gift? Misfit Victor. Hello, Victor.

00:12:24 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 3:

Hi, Victor. Good morning, everybody. Hi. Hope you had a fantabulous weekend. It was fantastic. I know why Mike was getting this special treatment. Why is that? He had his white pants on, probably.

00:12:38 - 00:13:06 | Speaker 2:

Mike, what were you wearing, by the way? You heard some skinnies? No, I was... What was I wearing? Do you not have the shorts? Shorts? Yeah, shorts. So, Mike, for those that didn't hear that, Mike has now gotten into the habit of becoming West Michigan's own pit bull. Golly! 616. He's wearing dressy white pants from time to time now and showing off how sexy he is. What's up, Selena? Hi.

00:13:07 - 00:13:26 | Speaker 6:

Hi, it's Selena, but that's okay. Oh, I apologize, Selena. No, it's okay. Yeah, so I've been a server. I'm almost 33. I started at 17, so a very, very long time. I honestly just sound bad. I honestly don't think it was that deep. I think that we're trained to do that, especially make kids feel special, and she just wanted that tip.

00:13:26 - 00:13:32 | Speaker 2:

She got a good tip. Yeah. So make kids feel special by giving dad a beer.

00:13:33 - 00:13:45 | Speaker 6:

We're literally trained to, like, if there's, like, not a single parent, But if there's, like, a child there, we're literally trying to pay a little bit more attention and things like that. So I think that's what she was doing.

00:13:45 - 00:13:51 | Speaker 2:

That's nice that restaurants will do that. They'll actually be more caring of you, knowing that it's probably stressful with a little kid. What's up, Laura?

00:13:52 - 00:13:55 | Speaker 5:

I think she was hitting on him.

00:13:55 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 2:

I think so, too.

00:13:56 - 00:14:03 | Speaker 5:

I don't want to go in. I can't believe me. Women aren't that nice. I mean, not like that over and over again.

00:14:03 - 00:14:04 | Speaker 2:

No, you're not.

00:14:05 - 00:14:10 | Speaker 5:

If it was just once, then she wasn't, but she kept over and over. Yeah.

00:14:10 - 00:14:28 | Speaker 1:

Well, she did it for both of us. I don't know if you're supposed to give somebody a free beer if you pour the wrong size beer for somebody. It seems like you could just pour it into another cup. But she said, I accidentally poured this, and it was supposed to be for something else. You can have this. And then brought ice cream for him, like extra ice cream for him. So it wasn't just me.

00:14:28 - 00:14:33 | Speaker 2:

Did she do the whole waitress act of sitting down at the table, making it pretend like she was your friend?

00:14:33 - 00:14:41 | Speaker 1:

Well, there was room on the other side of the table Because there was nobody on the other side, so yes Oh, you guys sat on the same side, you and Milo Yeah, yeah

00:14:41 - 00:14:43 | Speaker 2:

That's cute What's up, Amanda?

00:14:44 - 00:14:45 | Speaker 5:

Hi, how are you?

00:14:45 - 00:14:47 | Speaker 2:

Good, Amanda, are you tired today?

00:14:48 - 00:14:50 | Speaker 5:

Oh, no, I've been up for a while

00:14:50 - 00:14:57 | Speaker 2:

Oh, okay How do you, man, can you do me a favor? Can you give me your zen approach? Because this is amazing how mellow you sound

00:14:57 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 5:

Oh, well, when I

00:15:00 - 00:15:11 | Speaker 1:

I wake up in the morning. When my alarm goes off, I get straight up, and then I go to the kitchen to get a water. So as soon as you hear your alarm, you get up, and then you don't feel tired. You just don't lay it back down.

00:15:12 - 00:15:14 | Speaker 3:

That's too hard. Go ahead. What's your story?

00:15:16 - 00:15:43 | Speaker 1:

So I'm actually a server. When we see female parents come in, because you don't know their situation, even if they have a ring or not, they may have just lost their spouse. So we really never really ask. But when we see someone struggling, we try to make their life easier. I always offer to get something from the bar for the parent and, like, suggest it. But we usually carry, like, crayons, like, coloring books, stuff like that for kids. We just feel bad sometimes when we see parents.

00:15:43 - 00:15:50 | Speaker 3:

Megan, should we borrow Shannon and Mike's kids so that we can all have more fun when we're at restaurants?

00:15:50 - 00:15:59 | Speaker 1:

Is there any way I can take, like, a life-size Barbie and just dress it up so we don't, like, talk or move or cry? But I still check people.

00:15:59 - 00:16:02 | Speaker 3:

Would that be awkward if she brought a baby doll in?

00:16:02 - 00:16:13 | Speaker 1:

One of those reborns, the ones that look like babies? Come on. I mean, if you treat it like an actual human baby, we might feel even worse for you. There's something there. There you go.

00:16:15 - 00:16:29 | Speaker 6:
