My name is Patrick Pettway, and I am getting my Associates of Science and General Education with an emphasis in business administration. To me, it was a no-brainer. When you go out here and you're looking for funding to go back to college as a 40-year-old man, I got six people in my household. The extra money just doesn't just grow out of trees. For me to be able to be accepted through FAFSA and to have Bishop State pay for all of my tuition, not only that, but the curriculums, you know, they make it so easy to understand on their website. Like I said, I'm a 40-year-old man, so I don't use technology too much, But it was very understandable where I needed to go. It was extremely fast. These past two years, things have just moved in a total different type of way. It's like its own moving entity to see things manifest the way that they do.

So I was telling Lynn, I mean, long story short, is it wrong to refer to a widow as a single person? Because I was telling Lynn about my incredible experience with Tanya Lalonde, and I told her, like, start to finish, and she interrupted me at the start because I told her I went to go pick up Tanya some roses.

Explain who Tanya Lalonde is for those that may not know.

Tanya Lalonde runs the whole thing And she's a beautiful person And I have never met Tanya Lalonde before And once I started working on this radio show I started not only hearing the commercials more But we got an opportunity to talk to her And I'm like man she sounds cool I want to meet her in real life So Tanya and I went out And I thought it would be more funny than romantic Like my mind was like What can I do that's a cool gesture And how my mind works i said why not buy her roses and when i went in kroger because that's where i got the roses from i saw red but then i saw pink and i was like man pink is phenomenal so when i met tanya i walked in i'm like tanya she's like kevin i had the roses hidden behind my back pulled them right in front of me a sandwich between us and she was smitten and as i'm explaining this to my sister she's like hold on a second you brought her roses is she married i'm like no she's single and she's like oh okay she's single i'm like well you know her husband passed away She's like, well, it's insensitive for you to say she's single. That's what she said.

Because she is a widow, she's saying.

Yeah, she would say, I guess I wasn't respecting that. I've never thought of that before.

I get that.

I mean, is that wrong, though? Am I being insensitive?

I don't think it was intentional, but I think your sister is right in the fact that it's more respectful to say widow. To honor the person that they were married to. Yeah.

Can we call Tanya and ask her if she was offended by it? For sure. I don't know. Maybe, you know, maybe she was just being a good sport when we talked to her and, you know, had her on the air. I would say Bishop State's like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, put them in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be there you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or any 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four-year.
