It's Mojo in the morning show. So explain to me again here. So you guys give Smith your credit cards?

00:01:54 - 00:02:38 | Speaker 2:

Well, kind of. So Smith is my five-year-old, by the way. And he, you know this from my stories about him over the years. He loves carrying crap around in his pockets. He has little bags that he, like he just constantly has all sorts of crap. And so my ex-husband and I, Andrew, we will give him, we add to the crap collection. But we like to give him our old like credit cards, hotel room keys, whatever, because he loves playing with that stuff. So he has this little collection in his, you know, little black and white checkered wallet of like old, old keys, old credit cards that makes him feel like he's an adult. The numbers have changed. These are expired cards? Expired cards. Yeah. Obviously, I'm not giving him a real credit card.

00:02:38 - 00:02:38 | Speaker 4:

Right.

00:02:38 - 00:03:04 | Speaker 2:

Well, yesterday I he he whips something out of his pocket and it was a credit card. and I'm looking at it and I realize that the credit card belongs to Andrew's girlfriend. And I'm like, oh, that's sweet. Like she's caught on and she, you know, gave him one of her old credit cards to play with or whatever. And as I'm looking at it, I realize that the expiration date is 2027.

00:03:04 - 00:03:04 | Speaker 5:

Oh, gee.

00:03:05 - 00:04:07 | Speaker 2:

It is still very much a valid credit card. And I'm thinking now, how in the heck did he get this and has been carrying it around for god only knows how long and andrew's poor girlfriend's probably like where the heck did my credit card go at this point um and so how did he get it turns out that they had gone out to lunch the day before and i think what what i can kind of deduce happened was it got put back on the table after the meal was paid for and he grabbed it from the table and i don't know if she thought that she had grabbed it and put it away in her purse already but he ended up with it so I'm realizing all of this yesterday and I text Andrew to say hey you know Smith's got this card you probably want to come grab it for her and Lucy's like but can we go to Target first I love all surprise dolls are getting expensive Shannon no we can't thought about it but no we can't

00:04:07 - 00:04:58 | Speaker 5:

When you guys were kids, did you ever go through, like, your mom's wallets or valuables and stuff like that? Because my kids have done that with Chelsea. Like, Chelsea's purse, you know, just sits up on, you know, the chair that's, you know, right there by the door. And the kids would go through, and she would always blame me for stuff missing out of there. Did you take a 20? And I'd be like, no, I didn't take a 20. and then she'd say you know did you take you know my pack of gum or like mints or whatever the deal is and then we found out that i i'm almost positive and i don't want to pin it on it but i think it's luke i think luke was taken yeah so he was taking the stuff and uh one time he took a credit card and the thing was that it was interesting with credit cards you got to like know what you're doing when you're a young kid like smith's age with a credit card like yeah

00:04:58 - 00:05:01 | Speaker 2:

But Smith knows. You just tap it. Oh, well, you tap it.

00:05:01 - 00:05:03 | Speaker 4:

They make it so easy now.

00:05:03 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 2:

But I don't know if he was going anywhere tapping Luke because they didn't think they had tapping time. But I think Luke was thinking to himself he was going to go online, and I think a lot of it was video game stuff. Like he was going to go on, he was going to put the credit card into the video game thing and just start doing it again. By the way, I looked this up, and I want you to know this, that what do you do with old expired cards? This is from a site called Bank Rate. It says, you should always cut them up because the numbers on the card could still be valid to an account even though they're expired.

00:05:35 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 3:

You guys have been able to hold on to a card long enough for it to expire?

00:05:42 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 1:

It's so funny. I cut them in half. Rich people problems.

00:05:45 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 3:

I lose everything.

00:05:47 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 1:

I cut them in half. One way to split the card in half and then the other way to cut the strip in half. The magnetic strip. And then they go in two different trash cans So that if someone finds them They can't piece it back together and get my number

00:06:00 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 2:

You know, that's smart Yeah, like one goes with the kitchen trash I have a shredder that I bought at Staples And it's the best This thing is the best shredder ever

00:06:09 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 1:

Well, it's got to be industrial Because now they have the chip in them And it makes it hard to even cut

00:06:14 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 2:

You know, it's funny I've looked inside there afterwards And you can see, you can tell Where the little pieces are Because they're the more rigid pieces that are in there

00:06:23 - 00:06:32 | Speaker 3:

i literally do this all the time i accidentally two weeks ago had my dad's credit card and i just straight up went and i bought myself lunch and then i texted my dad afterwards and i said

00:06:32 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 2:

thanks do you by the way believe yeah do you believe that she was accidentally what's going on lindsey hi how are you this morning good what's going on we were talking about shannon's son smith and the credit card so when i was little i used to play house um

00:06:50 - 00:07:12 | Speaker 6:

or teacher, and I remember finding my mom's checkbooks under the bed, and I wrote out a bunch of checks, and I went to the neighborhood and put each check in one of the neighbor's mailboxes. Oh, my God. So they ended up calling my mom and letting her know that I had put all these checks out there because they were all scribbled all over.

00:07:12 - 00:07:14 | Speaker 4:

You were like your neighborhood Robin Hood.

00:07:18 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 2:

Amazing. That's funny. What's going on, Mojo?

00:07:20 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 7:

of the morning erica yes so when i was in third grade um i had a little boyfriend and he used to always bring me jewelry and i would eventually i showed my mom i was like yeah i got this and and she was like this is real jewelry come to find out he was selling it from his grandmother

00:07:40 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 2:

i had at least three necklaces do you still have those necklaces

00:07:49 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 7:

no i had to give them all away

00:07:52 - 00:07:55 | Speaker 2:

my mom told the teacher

00:07:55 - 00:07:59 | Speaker 7:

my mom told the teacher and they got in contact with his parents

00:07:59 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 2:

so it was so funny and nina is a teacher hi nina

00:08:03 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 5:

hi how are you guys good what's going on um so i have not gotten rid of credit cards but i i am a teacher and i have received a gift from students that they obviously pull out their parents' credit or purses, like credit cards and half-used gift cards. And I get a hold of these parents, and they're like, oh, yeah, can you send that back home to us? I've gotten candles, credit cards, gift cards, keys, jewelry, all sorts of stuff.

00:08:40 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 4:

I love that they're just taking it from around the house and bringing it in.

00:08:44 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 5:

I think they are, honestly. And they're so funny They're like, I got this gift special for you

00:08:49 - 00:09:35 | Speaker 2:

I had the biggest crush And this is probably the thing It's probably little boys that are bringing it in for you But I had the biggest crush on this teacher And she was a young teacher And I remember all I wanted to do Was give her gifts Because I remember how she looked When my mom gave me a gift To bring in to her for a Christmas present And so I remember that I would do that, exactly what you're talking about I would find things that my sisters had And I remember bringing her a hairbrush So I gave her one of my sister's hairbrushes One that was already used And it had hair in it and all the things But I thought it was the most special thing ever And I wrapped it up in a newspaper or whatever it was Or you remember how you used to The schools, and I don't know if they still do this Would make you wrap or cover your textbooks

00:09:35 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 4:

And I would always use the Kroger, the brown Kroger

00:09:38 - 00:09:44 | Speaker 2:

Brown bags, exactly Yeah, it's so funny What's going on, Krista?

00:09:50 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 7:

So he would go in my – I used to have a phone case that would hold all my debit cards and credit cards and everything, and he would go in my phone case and take my debit card or credit card.

00:10:00 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 2:

and go buy vbucks and i would check my like i caught on to it after maybe about the third time and he was doing it like three four times a week oh my gosh how much do you think he spent total um this happened for a good like six months so probably a couple hundred dollars wow we have to be able to get the playstation network to refund most of it but then i got a charge from amazon that he's trying to purchase an 1800 iphone oh my god whoops yeah can i have his phone number

00:10:34 - 00:10:41 | Speaker 5:

And my mom, she had this whole jewelry box. And so I went in there, I found one that had a heart and a few, you know, diamonds on it. I didn't know they were real diamonds or anything. And so I go to school and I give them to her. Well, a couple of weeks later, I get sent to the principal's office. We go to the principal's office and my mom's sitting there and her parents are sitting there. She's sitting there And my mom's like So you got something To give back to me And I was like No And she goes Well The principal definitely does And the principal Gives back the necklace And lo and behold It was the necklace That my dad had given To my mom At their wedding As a gift And yeah I definitely Got embarrassed On that one
